When I first heard this band, I was like wtf because I had never heard that style of vocals with metal music. And to be honest, her accent was a bit tough. But the more I listened, I got used to her accent and it just started working for me. I also like the fact that the lyrics to most of their songs are positive, which helps me a lot as I am a vet with ptsd. Rising, When Destinies Align, Bravehearted and a number of other songs have pulled me back from some very dark places. True enough, Asami's vocal style is not for everyone, but I love it

Power metal is one of my least favorite styles of metal but Lovebites is one of my favorite bands along with Epica and Jinjer.
I love the energy and intensity that is put into the songs by the instruments and the voice.
Epilogue is a song full of soul and emotion.

Epilogue reminds me Scorpions in the 80s.

The lead vocalist started out in jazz and R&B. Which doesn't always serve the music the best. In this case, on a song that very much reminds me of the Scorpions, it's perfect. Great reaction!

LB has released seven lives and "Daughters of the Dawn" is the only one that they played "Epilogue" on. On the flip side, they've played "Don't Bite the Dust" on all of them, though I think the Heavy Metal Never Dies version is the best.

I'm glad that you enjoyed both songs. Epilogue is a big fan favourite and not even their only song that incorporates piano and acoustic guitar. It is also indeed the final song on their second album and it's a fantastic closing track. The album version ends in a fadeout though, so Midori's little solo at the end was added for the live version. And I love how they immediately went into Don't Bite the Dust. Such a great contrast! Whether you like Lovebites or not, you can't deny that all members are extremely skilled musicians.

This is an older clip. In the last few years, they have become more stationary and more perfectionist, except on a few "wild" or "party" songs.

Metallica introduced ballads into the metal genre ? Metallica is a relative "new" band, they were founded 1981.
What about "Child in Time" from 1970 or "Catch the Rainbow" from 1975.
So the question is of course if bands like Deep Purple and Rainbow are counted into the metal genre ?
I must say i'm personally also still confused by that since in my youth we called them just "hardrock" while these days on UA-cam i hear most people also put them into the metal genre.

I think it's on the live shows that Asami really shines. Don't get me wrong, I like get studio performances but on stage she just hits next level. As for Don't bite the dust, I think it's good but it never truly resonated with me like many of their other songs. Nice reaction.

Who introduced ballads to heavy metal really depends on how you define a "ballad." The more accurate definition is that a ballad is a song that tells a story, with a beginning, middle and end. But most people, especially in the US, use it interchangeably with "slow song." By the more common definition, Metallica didn't introduce "ballads" to their music until 1991's Black Album (unless you count "Fade to Black" as a slow-song "ballad"), whereas slow-song "ballads" had been common features of numerous heavy metal bands dating back to the 1970s with Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, and became very commonplace throughout the 80s, especially in hair metal. Metallica might be considered as being one of the first to introduce them into thrash metal, though. Some examples of heavy metal songs that fit the more technically accurate definition of a ballad (i.e. a story song), though, include "The Sentinel" by Judas Priest, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Warrant, and "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Iron Maiden.

I don't know how much you know about music but this is not heavy metal, this is symphonic metal that goes back before metal. You have a big difference between heavy metal and symphonic metal. Bands like Nightwish Epica etc. are not heavy metal bands, that is why you decide to leave out heavy metal. Symphonic metal is unique, it fuses the power of metal with the beauty of classical music. You can't talk about hevt metal if you know music you have to know the difference between rock blues trash metal I recommend that you learn about the bands for future videos.

These songs both show a different side of the band, I think. We all know that they are incredibly talented and skilled on a technical level. But a ballad like "Epilogue" shows a more fragile, emotional, sincere side to them. The solo parts always give me goosebumps, and the chorus brings tears to my eyes. "Don't bite the dust", on the other hand, is - as you correctly noticed - more Maiden-like, very upbeat, almost rock'n'roll-ish.
Great choice of songs, great reaction. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - as always in a very polite and respectful way. A rarity these days.

    LOVEBITES - Epilogue lyrics:
If you have never cried, your eyes can’t be so beautiful
If you have never been hurt, you can’t feel the pain of others
    I will believe myself
    We’ll never be alone
    You will believe yourself
    We are the only ones
If you have never failed, you cannot be happy for success
If you have never loved, you cannot feel the love from others
    I will believe myself
    We’ll never be alone
    You will believe yourself
We are the only ones, forever…
    Just the way you are
    Just the way you are
Be the one you wanna be, with your own melody
    Just the way you are
    Just the way you are
    Love the song you sing
    Sing the song you love

LOVEBITES - Don't Bite The Dust lyrics:
The rain keeps falling and falling
I am crying all alone again
    Time is passing me by
Not knowing of what it's gonna be
But then I realized that I was only building my own wall
It's not too hard to find what's wrong
So I gotta stand up, bring it all together
    This game has only begun
Can I only stay the way I am?
Breaking the silence in the darkness
    I don't wanna fail, I don't wanna give in
I don't wanna bite the dust
All I have is a ghost of a chance
Never to forget what I've lost
    I don't wanna fade, I don't wanna get lost
I don't wanna bite the dust
Even if it's me against the world
I'm gonna fight until I die
But then I realized that I was only building my own wall
It's not too hard to find what's wrong
So I gotta stand up, bring it all together
    This game has only begun
Can I only stay the way I am?
Breaking the silence in the darkness
    I don't wanna fail, I don't wanna give in
I don't wanna bite the dust
All I have is a ghost of a chance
Never to forget what I've lost
    I don't wanna fade, I don't wanna get lost
I don't wanna bite the dust
Even if it's me against the world
I'm gonna fight until I die
    I don't wanna fail, I don't wanna give in
I don't wanna bite the dust
All I have is a ghost of a chance
Never to forget what I've lost
    I don't wanna fade, I don't wanna get lost
I don't wanna bite the dust
Even if it's me against the world
I'm gonna fight until I die
    I'm breathing and alive

As well as being a very versatile vocalist, with tremendous stamina, vocal wise, Asami is a stage general, and the ideal front woman. I like the more mellow bald head…🙂

Good hunch. Epilogue ends the second studio album “Clockwork Immortality”. It actually fades during the “Hotel California” dual guitar (for want of a better description). Miyako (Dean) wrote the outro to mirror the intro to the album, which is done acoustically on the song “addicted”. Therefore they had to find an alternative ending, and Midori (ESP) decided on what I like to refer to as a Steve Vai vibe….without the twiddly bits. Nice reaction to my favourite song. Now I’m going to watch the second half….

To me, Epilogue is a masterpiece and it showcases Asami’s vocals. “Don’t bite the dust” is a real rocker. You need to react to “Empty daydream” and “Dancing with the devil” and for fun “Raise some hell” (live, of course)

After you watch enough LOVEBITES, you realize that the more 'fun' a song is, the more interaction there is.
