He also the middle child of the Endless and every sibling looks up to him since he is very wise.
As we’ve already seen when John Dee tried to kill Dream inside the Dreaming, each of the Endless is at their most powerful inside their respective realm. Consequently they’re also at their weakest when in the realm of one of the other Endless, ESPECIALLY if they enter it uninvited. That’s why Dream just dialing up Desire like “Ayo asshole answer the phone, I’m coming in” was such a power move lol, and why it caught Desire so off-guard, cause it’s very unlike Dream to put himself in a weakened position like that (not that it stopped him from marching into Desire’s realm like he owned the place regardless lol).
@@licardooooooo1891 Thank you lol, the show does a great job of conveying the “older brother chewing out younger sibling for the dumb prank they pulled” vibe at the same time as the “two cosmic deities arguing over the potential destruction of a whole universe” vibe lol so I tried to replicate that
Just as a side note, the comic was set 30 years in the past (which was when it was published) and Dream wasn't imprisoned so long, so Unity's age wasn't QUITE so unbelievable. Rose was only her Granddaughter as well, not her great granddaughter.
The Corinthian also made a throwaway line in the first episode about humans in close contact with magical items or people getting long life from it. Presumably birthing a child with Desire could have extended Unity's life, that's some pretty close contact. This concept didn't exist at all in the comics so I figure they introduced it as a handwavey excuse so they could keep the beginning of their timeline pegged to the real world sleeping sickness episdemic.
You have to disconnect from the usual Christian superiority / centric thinking and treat all religion as equals where they are all made up by human stories and dreams, where all exists and yet none exists. This includes beings in other galaxies with their own beliefs and have own version of dreams where certain concepts are eternal, and Gods will end when no one worships or remember them. - Understanding that, then Cain and Abel might be dreams that inspired the scriptures and might also be other beings that have come to pass in other stories. For example, you see parallels for death and rebirth for Ra, the sun god and Jesus, stories of the great flood in many cultures, etc. Spring festival of the Celtic Goddess Ēostre or Ostara that has been adapted into Christian Easter is another one. Gaiman does this a lot in his comics and novels. Episode six's Hob and Dream is inspired by legend of the Devil and the Wandering Jew in the 13th century.
@@SilverDragonZZL The novella "The Sandman: The Dream Hunters" tells a Sandman story from a Japanese perspective, and one of the coolest aspects IMO is how it recontextualises a lot of aspects from the Dreaming to be more fitting to the culture of the characters. It's one of the best reads to understand how that aspect of the world works, IMO.
Also, I imagine Gaiman came up with the idea because Cain was banished to "the land of Nod." There were various Biblical interpretations, but it eventually came to be a synonym for sleeping.

One detail that is super hard to spot, but I loved is that the Hell Plaza Lucifer is looking out to with all the demons is actually a effed up version of Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican City, making it a nice mirror!
Gwendoline Christie is amazing. The scene is good on a surface level, but it becomes so much better when you know what she is actually thinking and planning, and how much she is showing in her acting.
Yeah, the whole scene reads so different when you know what they're planning. What's funny is, they technically know at least a bit of Luci's idea, lol.
@@brycelloyd3592 I saw the show before reading the books and the first time I saw that scene I was left wondering and very much anticipating season 2 because I was curious. My thought was that Lucifer having someone make a "demand" of them is definitely not going to get the result they demanded but what else could Lucifer do that would make God "absolutely livid"? Then I read the books and... Oh, yeah, that'll do it :D Now knowing what Lucifer is going to do, I am possibly even more hyped for season 2.
He definitely does eat eyes to see/live life experiences and memories. His character is interesting because he's gluttonous for human experience (be that through memories, excessive sex, etc) which should mean he's empathetic to humans, but what's monstrous is that he can retain that detachment enough to kill and use their memories and humanness against them. I think that's one thing he resents Dream for-- his inability to relate to people. He's charming and attractive to pretty much everyone until he takes off his glasses and people can see what he really is. It doesn't matter how charming and suave he makes himself. I like him a lot as a character and I think Boyd Holbrook played him really well.
It's also funny that they got the part by bothering Neil gaimen like CAST ME and he forwarded their info to the casting director who casted them right away
I love Dream's judgment of the "collectors." It is the moment he shows exactly how dangerous the Endless are. Because he doesn't say until they die. He says until the end of time. And if there's one thing we've learned about the Endless, it's that they wield magic that can change reality. And his sister Death sure isn't going to stop what he's put in place. As far as Cain and Abel? What you see in the Dreaming is a story that they are bound to tell forever: the first murderer and the first victim. They're less people this point and more...a fable.
I absolutely love that the way Morpheus deals with all the serial killers is he makes them feel overwhelming guilt. It’s such a perfect way to truly break psychopaths who by nature have never felt true guilt or remorse for their wrongdoings. I still feel sick at the fact that Desire sexually assaulted a young girl to get her pregnant and have descendants just to try and trick Dream into killing his great great grandniece because he thought there was no other way to deal with the vortex. It shows just how pathetic Desire is, especially when asked by Dream if they thought they actually had a chance in a real fight against Dream, Death or Destiny, and like a small and scared child they whimpered “no”. I do love however that not only did Morpheus show Galt mercy and made her into a dream but also allowed Lucienne to run The Dreaming whenever he is indisposed. And that instead of dismissing everything that had to do with Morpheus and The Dreaming as “just a dream” (like in the comic) she knows everything that happened was real. True neither of those things are in the issues that this season covers, but Neil Gaiman is one of the show runners and made this change, which I much prefer. Overall this is still one of the best seasons of tv I have ever seen in my life! And season 2 can’t get here soon enough!
I'd say not so much guilt as perspective. They told themselves they were doing great work or were on a mission etc etc but in reality they were just people who killed and inflicted pain on others. He showed them who they really are.
@TAO TOLOGY Right. It's like in the diner when Dream said about people needing to hold on to their dreams to function as people. He took that away from them and all they were left with was reality.
@@wendyheatherwood (Discworld reference) Granny Weatherwax would approve - it's the strongest weapon she has to give someone a _very_ clear understanding of who they are. 😏
"I still feel sick at the fact that Desire sexually assaulted a young girl to get her pregnant" - assaulted is a pretty loaded term. Desire surely seduced Unity and it was consentual.
Something we see earlier in the season with Dream's sand is that people can live in a dream and forget to live in reality. Each of the Endless covers both their name and the opposite: Death is over birth as well, that's why people recognize her after a moment. Dream is also over reality. The collectors are living in their own waking dream until their judgment; Dream takes that away and leaves them with the stark severity of their actions, without any ability to sugarcoat it with their "dream." His punishment is almost cruel but is also the justice that so many wish there was in the world.
Oh what Lucifer has planned... Delirium is one of my favorite characters and is an absolute delight. Unity was able to do so because she wanted to save Rose so desperately. At great need a dreamer can do that, sometimes they just wander through unknowingly. Cain and Abel are Personifications but are also Cain and Abel, as the first brothers; the first murderer and victim; and as the story of etc. It is complex and layered and I never got it all sorted out.
Calvin is right, this is the end of- technically- this story. The 11th episode was a surprise bonus episode that came out 2 weeks after the season ended. Nobody knew it was coming, so it was quite nice to see. Of course there are multiple books that continue certain elements of this first "season", although Netflix doesn't want to call them seasons. I guess they're just calling them books or parts, not sure yet.
and those two episodes in 11 are next to Sound of her wings and the one about Hob Gadling my favorites. And the one about the Changing woman, but that is a Death story and to much DC, so I doubt we will see that one.
Season 1 covers the first two trade paperbacks, Preludes and Nocturnes plus The Doll's House, plus some standalone stories (the two bonus stories are from the 3rd TPB, Dream Country). I expect Season 2 to cover Seasons of Mists (and I hope they get Mr. Hivju to play Thor) and probably A Game of You.
@@ValentinasWatching Would fit, too, but I seem to recall that in the comic he remains unknown until some of the very last issues where he shows up in a flashback.
This was the end of the series, due to such a positive response this got on launch. Netflix released a bonus episode which is actually 2 small stories thrown into one.
Surely they would have already been working on/have completed the episode 11 stories before the series started on Netflix? Especially the animated parts.
@@Tao_Tology Yes of course it was all filmed. I didnt say it wasn't. 😁😂 I said "Released a bonus episode" not "Filmed an entirely new fun filled episode to satisfy fans". The original Netflix twitter and interviews with the Director stated all the way back in mid 2022 that the show was going to film 11 episodes but 10 being the main adapation of the comic books with various alterations, and the 11th episode being just for fans of the show. This was however not given a release date, which is why it wasnt released at the same time, Netflix had intended to hold on to it for an undisclosed ammount of time, but going back to my OP, due to the overwhelming positive reception the show got, If i remember correctly the 11th episode was released much earlier then anticipated.

On the subject of the Corinthian, this is my interpretation: I believe that Morpheus's goal in creating it was to bring to light those dark thoughts that we all have and never explore, the violent impulses, the delight on gore and debauchery and in general the instinct to destroy the others. But in the end what caused the Corinthian to be a failure is that Dream failed to give him what he ended up giving the "collectors": consequences and guilt. The dark reflection, as he puts it, only works if the person reflects and changes those thoughts, but Corinthian enjoyed and rejoiced in them, so instead of being a nightmare that inspires them to be better people by scaring them of those impulses, in a certain way he he turned into a "inspiring dream" for the worst of humanity.
Nightmares are created for humanity to overcome. To paraphrase a quote about stories: they are there not to tell us that dragons exist but to tell us dragons can be defeated. Corinthian failed in that aspect. He did not help humanity overcome him. He instead inspired humanity to emulate and become him.
My thinking of Hector not being allowed in the dreaming wasn’t so much because he was dead, but more so the idea that the dreaming just wasn't his afterlife - as in, that's not where he should've ended up, so he couldn’t stay. There’s definitely the argument that Cain and Abel (if they are the real Biblical Figure) and Unity (the original Vortex) are special cases and that’s why they’re afterlives are in the Dreaming, but with the inclusion of Mathew the Raven - we know for a fact some mortals’ afterlives are the Dreaming. It also seemed like to me Heaven and Hell are just two potential afterlives that await people in the end and not the only two places one can end up.
If you die in your sleep, you may choose to reside in the Dreaming. That's why Matthew ended up there. But that's different to others who live there because they always existed in dreams and stories, like Cain and Abel.
Correct! In this, a myriad of different afterlife possibilities exist (and their mythologies are factual to varying degrees). It’s not really spelled out as such, but the reasoning of who goes where and why has largely to do with belief (though by invitation seems to also be an option in some cases). Mind you, this is not any superficial belief, but belief on a core level not even consciously recognized by mortals. Cain and Abel were invited to be part of The Dreaming, and given commissions of service by Dream because his realm is as much about stories as it is about dreams. Theirs is among particularly important stories.
I think this makes a lot of sense considering this is the DC universe and we know through Wonder Woman and Hawkman, who as far as we know, exist in this universe, verify the existences of the Greek and Egyptian pantheons. So those who believe in different things go to different places. Or reincarnate. Death isn’t the angel of death, but is instead it’s embodiment and guides people to their actual gods of death who take it from there
@@tylerrodriguez9935 In the case of Death, she can choose to let a pantheon take a person or she can let someone be taken. All of those are active decisions on her part. Woe be unto anyone that tries to stop her.
As someone with no experience of the comic, I love the tease of an Endless civil war; Death, Dream, and Destiny the oldest; against Desire, Despair and Delirium the youngsters. And of course Destruction hanging out somewhere
Those final lines by Lucifer were so well done by Gwendolyn! The way she said, '...would _absolutely_ make God _livid_' was SUMPTUOUS. Hello Mommy Gwen
Yeah, the Sandman Season 1 was such a fun ride! Lots of people are already highlighting how much they enjoy the show, so I just wanted to mention how much I really, really enjoy Azazel's design in this show. I expected a typical devil appearance; I was not expecting a portal-like Legion body
It was established when Dream was imprisoned that proximity to the Endless gives mortals extended life, health, and good fortune. So Unity, being the mother of a half-Endless (demi-Endless?), basically had extended exposure to Endless power through her child. It’s also been established by science that after a pregnancy, some cells from the baby enter the mother’s body (the placenta is the connection). This may have imbued Unity with some genetic material containing power of the Endless. This would explain how Unity looks so good for her age.
I don't think I have ever seen a punishment that was so great and I don't think I will ever find something better. The way dream described it made it sound like the worst think to ever happen to a person but he just fixed them when you think about it. He just gave them normal functioning moral compasses and it drove them into suicide. I really think it is the worst think he could have done to them and that was just what they deserve 'cause they will never get over it and they will never get used to the pain they are feeling making it so much worse then any kind of torture and Dream didn't had to think for one second about how to punish them and he also did it just because he thought they deserved it and not because he had to. Also the seventh of the endless is "Destruction" he is the one Lucien was talking about when she mentioned that one of the endless abandoned their duties ones before. His representation in the galleries of the other is a simple sword. by the way Delirium was formally known as Delight, her sign in the galleries is the mish-mash of colors that constantly changes it's shape.
Someone once explained the punishment in a great way: Each Endless is also responsible for their mirror image. Death also is responsible for birth; she is there in the beginning of a life and the end of it. Dream is also responsible for reality. The collectors all share a dream, a delusion about themselves. And what a cruel justice that they be stripped of that dream and be hit with the starkness of reality. They lost the story they were telling themselves and were given...truth. Dresm is a being that can radiate the cold sort of fury that sends a chill down your spine as you realize you have fucked up. The only being I fear had more of his fury was Desire themselves.
The Sandman comic series ran for 75 issues. It was the way Gaiman planned it from the start. The series had a beginning a middle and an end so the story of Dream was told fully. There have been a few mini series since then, and Gaiman did write two Death mini series, but the main story is told in the Sandman series. It did spin out other series like Lucifer which ran for 75 issue also, and The Dreaming that followed other characters from the Dreaming like Mathew, Merv, Cain and Abel, and others that ran 60 issues.
@@0okamino yes but it is also its own genre. A Graphic novel is a comic with the structure of a novel: begining, middle and end. Unlike traditional american comics (from Gardfield to Batman) that have not a single dramatic thread.
This show is very thought provoking and really well done in all the departments, great adaptation of the comic :) Bonus episode was good too. Can't wait for season 2 :)
In case you don't know yet... cain and able are "the first story" or thats why they're dreams. They weren't real or if they were their story inspired and became dreams. Thats why they're there.
Also, they have dominion over 'secrets' and 'mysteries'. I believe Dream has actually drawn up a contract with them, retaining their services so to speak.
Desire's outfit gives so much Cheshire's cat vibes... And it makes me want to see Mason Alexander Park playing a genderbent version of the Joker for some reasons
In the _Flashpoint_ "universe" it's Bruce Wayne's mother who goes mad and becomes the Joker after Bruce is shot, and Thomas becomes Batman. So, female Joker has a precedent in the comics.
Stephen Fry's speech breaks my heart every time, cause im hearing it as him saying goodbye, not his character. cause he's already deep and has his way with words, so is not that far off his real life personality, and UGH, the blurrying of his persona and character fucks with me.
Graphic Novels are just comics. In some case they are an original story arc. In other they are just collected reprints of regular monthly comics. In this case the Sandman started off as a regular monthly DC comic book. The stories were later reprinted in collected volumes. The original comic ran for 75 issues with 1 special. The collected reprints were published in 10 volumes. The show covers the 19 of the first 20 issues or the first 2 and 1/2 collected volumes skipping over one story. In the comics Hector's path to being in the Dreaming took a different approach in that he was tricked by two rouge nightmares. Those nightmares were replaced by Golt in this version, and Golt was more sympathetic than the two nightmares. Lyta also came into the Dreaming through their actions to get Hector to go along with their plans. The show doesn't use any of that back story.
The seven one "The prodigal" is Destruction his sigil is a sword and he left his place while Dream was locked up because he did not want to feel responsible for the destruction of humanity so he decided to stay on earth and have fun by painting and singing. He also the middle child of the Endless and every sibling looks up to him since he is very wise.
Cain and Abel aren't "dead humans", they are stories based on older stories, based on older stories. They are the prototypical First Murderer and First Victim. The actual names and people are so old as to have passed into myth and myths live on in the Dreaming.
There is a fantastic storyline further on in the books that focuses on Delirium, Dream and their lost sibling. Assuming that the series follows the books, it will be some time before we see this sadly.
I think that God in this universe is not the creator of the endless- the endless come about naturally as long as there are living beings in the universe.
*spoilers if you havent read the whole story* . . . . . The Endless were born from the union of Time and Night. So you're correct. Time, Night and the Endless stand above God.
I honestly feel like the thing that would make “ God absolutely livid “ is Lucifer making a Nephilim ( half human half archangel ) or killing a human or another angel but I’m definitely going with a Nephilim.
The way they pronounce Azazel is closer to the original Hebrew pronunciation, which is "uh-zuh-zel". The first season of the show covers 15 of the first 16 issues, so about a year and a quarter of the comic. (They skipped one standalone and merged two others.)
What I find cool about the sandman is that it shows god, Lucifer, and the endless as different things but also remember that other pantheons also still exist in the DC Universe. Wonder Woman and Hawkman are great examples of these influences. I hope the next season explores this as they fight the forces of hell. Maybe they need Yahweh AND Zues AND Ra. Because we know that all these pantheons exist and overlap with each other and ofc Dream and the endless would know and be intimately acquainted with all of them because all pantheons have stories that contain the concepts of desire, despair, death, destruction, delirium, etc. they’re from the human perspective. I think it would be so interesting to explore how God or Lucifer would engage with other pantheons and the endless or maybe mortal dc heroes.
Cain, Abel, Lucien, Eve, and Destiny were all characters used to 'host' DC's horror/suspense line of comics in the 1960s and 1970s. Throughout Sandman, Niel Gaiman liked to reference or incorporate various DC comics/characters. The versions that appeared in Sandman weren't necessarily the same exact characters they were based on or referenced.
1. The original comic design for Lucifer was based off of David Bowie. 2. The voice for Azazel is Roger Allam, who was also the propagandist news anchor Lewis Prothero in the V for Vendetta movie.
So this episode technically is the finally. Episode 11 is just a bonus episode. Just like how the two episodes at the end of Lucifer season three were bonus episodes.
Roger Allam voices the deamon Azazel in hell .. he also narrates my favorite kids tv show Sarah and duck that my pre schoolers watch so... It's quite a fun thought for me of Sarah's narrator being a deamon of hell
Don't know if it was mentioned already, but the seven endless are Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction (who left his station), Desire, his twin Despair, and Delirium (formerly known as Delight). They are driving forces of human nature, and their order is also the level of influence or power that they sway in general over mankind. Hence Morpheus' threat to Desire. I also love that humanity which is so prone to destroy Nature and ourselves, has a higher power that can guide us, our dreams (both beautiful and frightening). Loved the comics, love the series. The spin off work "The Dreaming" was also good, but never quite a the level of the original Sandman.
re: the reality of Heaven and Hell, they are real but they are not the only realities. The graphic novel shows deities from non-Christian religions (Odin and Loki, and Susano-o-Mikoto) as well as representatives from non-religious concepts (Order and Chaos) who are every bit as real as Lucifer. I really hope that this particular story arc is covered in the next season - it is what Lucifer is alluding to when talking about doing something to make God absolutely livid and bring Dream down.
Think of the Bonus episode like a DoctorWho Special (eg: The Runaway Bride, The Voyage of the Damned [the Titanic episode with Kylie Minogue], the 4 Series 4 Specials)' i guess.
No this is different the doctor who specials still carry on the stories from the series them selves while the sandman bonus episode is just a standalone and has basically no references to the series
My thought on Abel and Cain is that they might be myth, not actual living people, and by myth I mean literature, archetype and, therefore, fruit of dreaming. The Genesis is not contemporary stories of the people who wrote it, like many other Bible books. We can consider the stories before Moses are mostly mythical and archetypical. (Before Moses are Adam, Abel and Cain, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Esau and Jacob. All these feel like myth. The Greeks turned their ancestors into gods, the Hebrews didn't. Abraham feels like Zeus to me: the father. An archetype.)
Well, either way the Cain and Abel story is an archetype for sibling murder/betrayal stories, so it probably doesn't matter if they're real or not, they would have a place in the Dreaming either way. As for the Genesis thing, I'd argue it's just up to the Tower of Babel where you have more mythological-style writing with disconnected stories that have lots of similarities to other myths of the time, and then from Abraham onward you get a very different generational storytelling style leading up to Moses. So the former part is more likely to be a retelling of an origin myth with adjustments to fit their worldview/culture, while the latter is more likely to be historical, at least if you believe that Moses is a historical figure, since the Hebrews would probably know their own ancestry and would take issue if he misrepresented it. Also Zeus isn't an ancestor deity, he's the head of the Greek Pantheon, so very unlikely to be an ancestor unless every single Greek deity was an ancestor of some sort, which is a take I haven't heard of before. For an example, Romulus, the founder of Rome, was deified, but as a son of Mars, their War god, not as their chief deity.
You are not seeing it. The problem with movies and series taking "bold" choices is that it affects the source material. If they get enough populariti to draw new readers, the management force those "changes" so the new readers have a sense of familiarity. I don't say this is intrisic bad. Without this we wouldn't have Harely Queen or Batman Beyond. But others changer are painful... seeing like 20 years of continuity goes down the drain hurts (like when Disney kicked the expanded universe out of cannon).
The EU was never proper G-level canon to begin with. And if George Lucas had ever made an Episode VII, he would have made his version, and not have used any of Timothy Zahn's characters.
Rose Walker is awful don’t like how she’s written or acting. Kinda stalled the show. Corinthian is my fav character. So smooth and vicious. It’s weird seeing actor Boyd Holbrooke with real eyes in other things lol. Nailed that role. Lmao general knowledge salute. HIMYM!! Hate Robin though and the end.
"The Prodigal" is Destruction, who is the Endless who walked away from his job. He is the reason why Lucienne said that it would be the first time one of the Endless had quit, which what most of the dreams and nightmares had thought that Morpheus had gone when he was imprisoned. Destruction left because Humanity seemed quite good at destruction without his influence
The endless exist because life exist, they're a product of creation. Cain and Abel are in the dreaming because they have a letter of conscription from Dream. Also Rose couldn't of just removed the vortex from her body, that's not how it normally works. Rose could do it only because it was passed down, she wasn't the original vortex.

There are rules, and protocol. One must step carefully inside the customs of the sacred and profane.
25:39 "...Do they?" I love the way she delivers that line. So much bile hidden under the surface.
Mason Alexander Park is AMAZING!!! They deserve every award.
It's also funny that they got the part by bothering Neil gaimen like CAST ME and he forwarded their info to the casting director who casted them right away
Honestly, most of the casting is top-notch. MAP is the perfect blend of beauty, allure, and treachery.

Granny Weatherwax would approve - it's the strongest weapon she has to give someone a _very_ clear understanding of who they are.
Delirium is an absolute Delight indeed, if you know what i mean. One of my favrouite Characters in the sandman Universe

What you did there, I see.
@@TorIverWilhelmsen i kind of wanted him to play Destruction.

It's weird how incredibly different that version is from what the comics Lucifer did in LA. And that somehow none of the fans ever complain about it. They basically swapped a fantasy epic that makes Lord Of The Rings look like a sitcom for a police procedural.
@@Carabas72 Thing is: the police procedural is fun. It's a bad adaptation - but at least it's fun. In contrast to other bad adaptations *cough Constantine
The dark reflection, as he puts it, only works if the person reflects and changes those thoughts, but Corinthian enjoyed and rejoiced in them, so instead of being a nightmare that inspires them to be better people by scaring them of those impulses, in a certain way he
he turned into a "inspiring dream" for the worst of humanity.
Iirc Cain and able are also in the dreaming cause God was like yeah go there
As someone with no experience of the comic, I love the tease of an Endless civil war; Death, Dream, and Destiny the oldest; against Desire, Despair and Delirium the youngsters. And of course Destruction hanging out somewhere
Fun fact. Gaiman based the character Delirium off his friend the singer Tori Amos. Tori Amos often references Neil and his creations in her songs
I seriously can't wait for season 2. This finale was so good, I can't wait to see how Morpheus will deal with so many out to get him and his kingdom.
Season 2 should be the best season (that part of the comic is my favorite and most people agree)
I hope yall do the bonus episode. Loved the season.
I like the idea of Unity meeting Jed in the dreaming, and getting to hang out with him. She could still visit with her gr grandbabies.
Those final lines by Lucifer were so well done by Gwendolyn! The way she said, '...would _absolutely_ make God _livid_' was SUMPTUOUS. Hello Mommy Gwen
Tom Sturridge absolutely killed it. He was fantastic.
this episode was the finale, episode 11 was a bonus episode that came out like 2 weeks after the show was released
I can't freaking wait for them to adapt the story of Lucifer's plan. It's so great
I don't think I have ever seen a punishment that was so great and I don't think I will ever find something better.
A graphic novel is just a comic, what you were describing Aaron, was an omnibus which is a full collection of a story in one book.
“Graphic novel” is for those who don’t like to say they read comics. 😄
@@0okamino yes but it is also its own genre. A Graphic novel is a comic with the structure of a novel: begining, middle and end. Unlike traditional american comics (from Gardfield to Batman) that have not a single dramatic thread.

In case you don't know yet... cain and able are "the first story" or thats why they're dreams. They weren't real or if they were their story inspired and became dreams. Thats why they're there.
Oh they were real but their story became legendary.
Also, they have dominion over 'secrets' and 'mysteries'. I believe Dream has actually drawn up a contract with them, retaining their services so to speak.
Delirium is my favourite endless, I can't wait to see them in the show.
I have a feeling we will be getting the blessing on that casting by not just Gaiman but also Tori Amos herself.

18:35 😂I brought this exact thing up when I first saw this episode.
Great finale...
So ready for Season 2!!!

Yeah, there's some really great background stuff in the next episode.

18:37... Dude, we've all been there! 😂
The way they pronounce Azazel is closer to the original Hebrew pronunciation, which is "uh-zuh-zel".
The first season of the show covers 15 of the first 16 issues, so about a year and a quarter of the comic. (They skipped one standalone and merged two others.)
Next week's reaction is going to be a good one!
This was the end so far as anyone knew at the time. The bonus episode just dropped without warning.
This is also what will happen when Stephen fry passes.
I was waiting for this!!!
1. The original comic design for Lucifer was based off of David Bowie.
2. The voice for Azazel is Roger Allam, who was also the propagandist news anchor Lewis Prothero in the V for Vendetta movie.
I hope you watch the bonus episode (2 in 1) it gives some insight about Dream's anthropomorphic personification and his tragic background.
I need a series based on Martin Tenbones. He's clearly the Aragorn of this fantasy.

Graphic novel is just a fancy name for a comic.
Desires appearance in this episode has me scaroused.
re: the reality of Heaven and Hell, they are real but they are not the only realities.
@@harryvideoz8863 As someone who has read the comics ... Not entirely true ...
Aaron should have realized it was a heartburn, not a heart piece ;)
I love the casting for Desire, but I think Mason would have been the _perfect_ Lucifer (no offense to Gwendoline).
Stephen Fry is bacon. Everything he's in is instantly better.
This was the finale. The next episode is an extra, as was said.
But others changer are painful... seeing like 20 years of continuity goes down the drain hurts (like when Disney kicked the expanded universe out of cannon).
the eu was already so bad. George lucas hated that. thank god it is now not canon imo
The EU was never proper G-level canon to begin with.
