Oh wow!!! This is a nice surprise, this whole concert is amazing, raw and flawless performance. But first thing I noticed when I clicked on the video is your hair, I love it and looks so good on you, you always look beautiful, love the hair color. The male singer is Tapio Wilska, who, before Marko, often was a guest singer when a male voice was needed.

Tapio here was part of the road crew a friend of Tuomas.
The guy is a few cm taller than Tuomas. And He is 2M tall himself.
Now go forward 20 years and during lockdown when there were no tours the road crew can't work.
So instead they put out a 2nd album as Crewish covering Night Wish songs. The 1st album was back in Tarja's era
They called the album Twice. A nice joke not just because it was their 2nd album. Also with Tuomas' ok and management they were allowed to make money off the album. The joke is not only did Tuomas record all new keyboards for the song Dark Chest of Wonders which appear on ONCE (2004) the 5th NW album and last with TARJA, but.. Tarja gifted them a new remixed death metal version of the song with her vocals .
Now the best part ex Crewmember Tapio Wilska recorded his own vocals on this new version of Dark Chest of Wonders.
3 musicians tied to one band all reaching out in a time of need to the unsung workers they would never have had the careers they did without the road crew and making sure they were taken care off. And of course new music for the fans and a sort of partial reunion without ever being in the same room together.
Now that is what I call the Christian spirit of charity . That was fun.

This song has been on their first album since 1997. Tapio Wilska is awesome growling voice singer. This concert is so awesome and year is 2000. See real babies in 1996 and even 1993 in YT...before NW.

"Holy crap, where has this song been" 😄 i've followed NW since Spinefarm released a promotional cd with Tutankhamen. Nowadays I love Floor (live) the most, but Pharaoh remains my all-time, nostalgic-maybe favourite 🥰
Thanks for the reaction and the request. Pharaoh Sails to Orion is one of my favorite songs from the Oceanborn album. That gentleman is Tapio Wilska, who also sang the song Devil and Deep Dark Ocean with Tarja on the same album. The contrast of their voices gives the songs a much darker feel, and I love that.

Pretty much every song on 'Oceanborn' is a classic. My personal favorite is 'Swanheart', which was also performed at this concert. Later, Tarja did an orchestral version of the song which is possibly the greatest thing ever recorded. PS. LOL at Tuomas' cheap-ass keyboard sound. That really dates this!

Tapio is their good friend. Before Nightwish Tuomas and Tapio were in a band called Nattvindens Gråt. Tapio was a guest on their album and live gigs. He was a crew member for several years when they started tour the world. In 2018, when the band did the Decades tour, Tapio came on stage with them again. He has been in several metal bands as a singer.

Great song, heck whole Oceanborn album is great. You've already listened to 4 songs from this album, and that's a third of all songs on album. Song itself is crazy and energetic, every time I listen to it it energizes me. And ending of this song is not Tarja's showing off, in original album version ending is exactly same. Tuomas was very aware of how beautiful Tarja's vocalizes sound and decorate songs, and used this skill of Tarja's in many songs of first era. Later on in the album Once it transformed into amazing sounding backing vocals, like in Wish I had an Angel, where Tarja uses vocalizes as backing vocals in chorus.... Join my soul the Hunter in the sky...
