I wrote a file about these songs. I will post it so you can have some of the background about these 3 songs. This is part of what I call the "Smile" trilogy. The first song being Smile, the "B-side" to their song Bubble. The music was written by Kentaro Akutsu who wrote their breakout song "Thrill" but with lyrics by Miku. The second song is "About US" a love song to their fans during the lockdowns written by the Ladies themselves. When it was performed live for the first time during their on-line concert to replace their canceled Budokan concert, Saiki gave a brief speech before the song started, that had many of us getting attacked by dust. Then the song itself brought out the onion ninjas and made many us have allergy attacks as well. Then we have "Memorable". It was almost 3 years since the Ladies had last toured the US, and they were concerned they had lost their momentum. Even though being told they were selling out their shows, they didn't believe what they were being told, they thought their management was lying to them or playing a joke on them. They came over and performed at Aftershock, then they got on their tour bus, (A first for them, as they normally would either fly or rent a couple vans to tour in) and drove to their first show of their 2022 US Tour. Seattle. It was at Seattle, that the Ladies got confirmation of just how much their fans love them and how much we missed them. As they walked out on stage, according to several people who were at the show, they were shocked. And Saiki as she came out, was said to have looked like someone had hit her with a bat, her eyes were so wide. The crowd response, and the emotions coming off them fed the Ladies energy as the performed their show. And as they went to their next concert, the response there was the same. And the next show, with the fans sending gifts for MISA's birthday, having several hundred custom printed towels handed out to the audience celebrating MISA's birthday. All these things hit the Ladies in their hearts. And Kanami had an idea for a new song. This next part is hearsay so I have no way of confirming it, but the sounds at the beginning before the guitar part starts was the sound that Kanami heard while back stage at the Los Angeles show. Hearing music and the audience talking. Supposedly, she actually recorded it on her phone before their introduction music started playing. Again that is hearsay and I have no way to confirm it. But from the L.A. show Kanami started writing the vocal melody line. If you have a chance to watch the Behind the scenes documentary from their TGT Concert DVD-BD, Kanami discusses and sings the vocal melody. She later sang and played it to Saiki and Saiki told Kanami to finish the song, then Saiki and Miku wrote the lyrics together. The lyrics are about looking out into the audience while being up on stage, and seeing the smiles of their "Masters and Princesses" And how much that means to them, the Ladies of Band-Maid, and how much they love us as their fans, and how much they feel our love of them as performers. The Ladies finished the song after they returned home to Japan, and worked it up, and performed it live for the first time at their January 9th concert at the Tokyo Gardens Theater, which was later released as a DVD/BD with the BTS Documentary. But just a month after their concert at TGT, they were back in the US as the opening band for the "Last Rock Stars" a Japanese supergroup, for 3 shows. Two in New York and one in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, the outside desert portion of this video were recorded, just outside of Lancaster California, the performance portions were taken from the very first live performance at the TGT. So know you know the story behind the song. It is a love song from the Ladies of the band, to their fans, telling us how we lift them up, and how they love being able to perform for us. As I wrote at the very beginning, this is the 3 song of the trilogy, and all of them are about how much the Ladies love us their fans. And for that, we love them back.
@@Timber1508 I was there also , it was very electric in the audience waiting you could feel the energy , I was thinking to myself I`m really here I`m gonna see BAND-MAID live , any movement on stage got everybody's attention or lights changing color or guitar tech checking equipment , the crowed would start chanting BAND-MAID , or MISA MISA MISA , then they came out on stage , 1st MISA then Kanami then Akane then Miku filming with her phone , then Saiki , the audience went crazy , they did look a bit shocked , 1st song was Sense it was the best 2 hrs ever , saw them again in 2023 in Spokane Wa that was also Amazing .
Band-Maid can do it all. Not many rock groups can write and perform ballads this well. These Maids are the best thing to happen to music and to this world!
Ah yes, the 'Smile' trilogy (all three songs reference the fans smile). All three songs are indeed written for their fans. The MV for "Memorable" was filmed just outside of Lancaster CA not near Joshua Tree - (right next to Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue Centre in fact). "About Us" was first performed during a covid livestream so no audience was present. It's been performed live many times since of course!
Not just another band. There is no other band like BandMaid. A rock and roll band should be so lucky to have one of these ballads in their catalog much less three. With these ladies they can turn any rocker into an acoustic ballad as well. They've proven that over and over again. What a band! My dream is for BandMaid to bust out with a 5 part harmony a capella tune like Seven Bridges road. It's certainly would fit their modus operandi of doing the unexpected.
Nice reaction and on the part about covid time, in Japan it was very strict, for a number of weeks/months (can't recall how many, but it was a long time) they couldn't go out (except for food) or visit each other, so it was pretty hard for them and most concerts were closed for months. They also had a mask mandate, but that wasn't an issue in Japan as they were already use to wearing mask for everything. That video from Ohrenje include clips from two other concerts (Eggman and Yoyokana). For Memorable, the pigeon ventured out to the desert in CA on their US tour. Someone should tell Miku that walking around in those shoes could lead to a twisted ankle. Memorable was written on the US tour as during that tour they heard voices for the first time as in Japan you could not make cheers/noise at concerts and everyone had to wear masks and must be separated, so the shouts and cheers from the US fans really surprised them. Thanks for during these three.
I think they focused on Miku`s shoe`s cause during the 2022 tour everybody was making comments about Miku`s shoe`s , like how could she jump around the stage in them like she does with out falling .
Smile, About Us, and Memorable is in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Bestie, Daydreaming, The One, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, and At the Drop of a Hat. I’m so touched about the reason they wrote About Us to the fans, and that their time in the States inspired the sentiment of Memorable. Kanami actually wrote the song on their touring bus! Thx, Alexa!
From some of what I've hard, most rock bands historically haven't cared all that much really for their fans. So it's refreshing to hear stories bout bands like Band Maid & The Warning who seem to genuinely care bout their fans
A triple shot of BAND-MAID sentimentality is too much, now I’m a puddle. “I’m right here, it’s a special view,“ is a most beautiful lyric, child-like in its simplicity, but delivering a heavyweight emotional impact. Listen to the original version of SMILE.
Good luck with class & computer fund! Hope you do well on yer mid-terms! Memorable was written bout their experience on their 2022 US tour Was their 1st time back in the states since the forced Covid hiatus. From what I've read, they were nervous bout how they would be received over here They were very pleasantly surprised at how much the US fans showed up & supported them. Believe all the shows sold out. I was at their 2022 Philly concert The crowd (self included) sang along in all the right places & cheered *very loudly* after each & every song! I learned early on what that song was bout So Memorable has always hit me a little different. Maybe cuz I know that I somehow played a teensy tiny part in the inspiration for it's creation
I definitely not try to make YOU cry( these song are actually BEAUTIFUL & HAPPY SONGS not for CRY)Just want to see These 3 songs together. Just think it as I collect These songs here( on your YT channel 😊), so whenever I feel like listening to These 3. I will come back here as long as your channel is ALIVE. TAKES CARE & WISHES YOUR MY BEST FOR MID TERM🙇🏻♀️
Hi, Alexa. I don't think MnPofBM was trying to make you cry but just give you joy (but I'm not sure😅). Here are the songs that could really make you cry: Daydreaming, Anemone (acoustic), Endless Story (live), The One. But nothing forces you to react to these songs. THANKS

"Smile" was not originally acoustic, but has been performed acoustically several times.

PS Love your vibe! Good reaction!!
Thank you!
About the *About Us* portion, this video was taken from several different shows mashed together. Some *post covid* hence the crowds.

OOOOOoooooo thank you!!
Pure Magic 💖
Welcome home Princess Alexa, po! I wish you a wonderful day and I hope you crush your mid-terms. Please take care and have an amazing week.
Never known another band to do this. Just one of the many things which make them special and have a place in my heart.
