So I knew absolutely nothing about this. Only found out few days ago so I checked out some videos and found the greatest help from yours. However, I have questions. For someone who have no current doorbells or wiring or camera, what will you advice to Buy? Doorbell and module or doorbell, module and 2 cameras for front? The SD card that we used to use in phones, this can be used in the module? The batteries in the doorbell are rechargeable? If so, how long on average, does it last, before it needs recharging? Works in the Carribean too right? Maybe silly question but have to ask.
@@ranieshadavis8397 When you open the app, you will see the camera still view. Within each picture you will see a camera in the bottoms right side. If you click the camera it will give you an updated photo. In the left bottom corners there is a video cam. If you click the video cam it will bring up the live view.
@@AndeeSaid If you are asking me I can only tell you about the external cameras and not the doorbell as I don't have one. With the external cameras you click on live view and then there is a button which says hold to talk. As I said earlier you only get live view if you subscribe to their cloud.
What I don’t like about this is that you don’t get a LIVE view if someone rings your doorbell. Especially if you have the Alexa devices with the screen. I have the Echo Show 15, and it just alerts me. It doesn’t give automatic live view which sucks cuz I don’t know who’s there. I suspect this is a hardware limitation of the Blink system. When a Blink camera is recording, you can't pull up a live video feed. I'm doubtful that this critical feature will ever be added…
You can add a routine to the Echo Show to have video come up when someone rings the bell but I’ve yet to get it to auto shut off so if I’m not near the Echo Show I can’t close the video and it keeps running and burns up the battery.
yeah i agree i found it disapointing that it didnt automatically show the live feed on the echo show when someone presses the doorbell, also should have come with a indoor chime box
Mine has about a 5 second delay before the doorbell alerts my phone, plus another 5 second delay in answering. There is also a delay when speaking back and fourth on the doorbell camera. You can also get a quick live view by snapping a pic from the home page of the app on either your Ring cameras, or the Ring doorbell.
I had been looking to add the Blink doorbell to the 3 exterior Blink cameras I already had so this was a huge help. Agree with you Reid that the ability to have local storage was a big plus for me as I bought the sync module with my cameras already. Ordering up by doorbell today and am looking forward to installing it this week. Thank you for the great info!
The sync module is worth it for 2 reasons. If you have it you don't need a subscription to their cloud service, you can just save all your footage locally and you can check the doorbell camera anytime, from anywhere provided you have an internet/data connection.
This may be a dumb question, but can’t you share the videos captured each day (or the ones you want to save) via email, and save it to your hard drive? That would eliminate the need for the sync module 2, right?
Am I the only tard who can’t seem to find how to do a live view?? I have no camera icon or anything on my blink app it’s just says event response. Why would there not be a simple live view option???
Yes, I do this and have a little memory stick inserted on the side to keep videos. The settings let you decide how long you wish to keep recordings. You can manually delete ones you don’t need.
Anyone can tell me why the module doesn’t have a chime ? It rings outside and in my cell only . Any help is appreciated. It seems pretty complicated to me as an old dude
Great video! Questions: How can I get it to go live if I do not have wired? Also mine is very delayed ( as when someone rings the door bell it takes long to notify me on my phone and takes long to show me the live view after the doorbell has rung)could it be for the internet or could there be another cause? Any suggestions?
Disappointed to find out the button isn’t illuminated even connected to existing wiring. It is difficult for nighttime visitors to locate the button to activate it. A customer service rep. suggested visitors could use their cellphone light to locate it…, seriously? Hopefully, customers complain and Blink will quickly correct this oversight.
I complained about it to blink but no resolution. I just don’t understand the logic behind not having the doorbell to illuminate at night on its own like every other doorbell
Hello I stumbled across your video and I cannot seem to get my Blink to show me live video let alone connect to my Amazon echo. It doesn't alert me when there is motion or anything. I am ready to bring it back to the store and get a refund. Can you please help me?
If you already have a normal doorbell, then why not just use the regular Blink Outdoor camera (Square) on the front door? I mean it notifies you of movement right?.. and if you can hear your legacy doorbell, then why bother with a new Blink Doorbell? What does the Blink doorbell offer that the Square outdoor camera does not? Update: You do actually get a notification that someone has pressed the front doorbell. Still, both cameras do detect and record motion and both will send you a message that there is motion. Is the doorbell camera faster? I have never timed it. But the doorbell camera will send a chime to other cameras which can be positioned in remote parts of the house where you may not hear the factory house Chime box.
Avoid Blink. My Blink doorbell camera is garbage. Tech support provides basic unrelated advice like deleting and reinstalling and restarting my wifi. The issue is the Blink doorbell misses, at the least, 50% of people walking directly at the camer. I have videos of of people halfway back down the walkway who were never captured on the porch. My camera is unobstructed. It only reliably picks up cars driving by.
The problem with local storage is, it takes a big longer to load the clips for you to view on your phone. Cloud service gives you instant view and a preview of the clip. Local storage does not provide any preview. With that said, local storage is "Usable".

I have my Blink Doorbell wired to old doorbell wires and have the batteries installed. The app says running on external power. From what I can find out reading on their web site and on the internet, being wired to a compatible 16-24 volt existing doorbell system and using the sync 2 module will greatly increase battery life. I don’t think you need a subscription if you’re in the uk now. I’ve had a few blinks for over a year and never once been asked for payment. Unless my account is bugged and accidentally giving it me free 👀 I’m not asking blink them self lol

Thank you for sharing all of the information. I was about to purchase one but now realize I will need the module as well. Do you have any reviews on anti bark devices? I have neighborhood dogs that bark constantly and have yet to find a reliable product
Thanks for the review. I just got the outdoor cameras for Christmas. I was going to add the doorbell too. But after learning of the subscription nonsense and the lack of ability to save live video without a cloud subscription I’ll return the cameras and research better products.
Thanks for the info on that because right now I have the 30 day trial n I'm thinking after the 30 days, will my live fee stop if I'm not subscribed to the cloud service? I hope not. I was told to use a flash drive to keep my recording videos n alerts. Well let see what's the hoopla of the cloud service. Thanks have a nice Sunday. Take care 👍
This thing is garbage. My cats will sit literally right in front of it and it does nothing. I can put it out by the road, and no cars set it off. It doesn't even have a range far enough for most applications out in your driveway. I don't even think it's fully rain proof. I had to put mine in a sealed spagetti jar.
I was gonna buy several blink cameras and a video doorbell. I watched a video where the guy said that If the cameras detect motion, it starts recording the event, and the problem is that while it is recording the event, you can’t look at live view to see what’s going on until the event is already over and the camera has stopped recording. So you really can’t see real-time activity. By the time you get to go back and review the recording, the burglar or visitor is already gone. Is that true? Seems like it would not be very advantageous to buy this system if that’s the case. Would like to get your thoughts.
Does anyone know if you have to have a certain model iPhone to be able to sync with the doorbell? We have a iPhone 13 and it does not seem to be compatible with this doorbell.😔
We have a 30 day trial right now but purchased the yearly subscription.. it won’t apply until the days is up. I’m wondering if that’s all I need or do I need the module yet also? Does having the module open up the live view ?
Hi I was wondering I just changed from Ring to Blink doorbell. With Ring a preview of whoever is ringing the doorbell comes up. how do I get the blink to do the same
Thanks for this review. I very been going back and forth if i wanted to return my eken camera/doorbell chime for a blink doorbell since it can connect to echodot. I think I prefer my eken t8 with 720p over this blink. The eken actually seems clearer and has better sound quality. I can hear people's conversations walking by on my street sidewalk.
When you have blink cloud the clips backup once a day to local storage but are only viewable by ejecting the usb storage device and opening them on your pc not available through the app unless you cancel the cloud subscription with no cloud subscription clips are stored on the sync module 2 usb storage but canceling cloud subscription you lose live video recording and hourly clips
I do have a question I do not have internet in my house but I do have a cell phone that I carry around everywhere I go is there a doorbell camera that do not need the internet in your house and maybe just connect to your phone how does that work or is that possible
On my Amazon echo devices I get a chime and some weird alpha numeric number announcements for the doorbell even though I changed the name to front doorbell. Any suggestions ?
I have it wired to my door bell, however the batteries dies very fast is there a reason why? My blink rings when someone presses door bell but batteries are dead within a month.
Right now (March 2024) Amazon Canada sells it for $65 cdn, but it's on sale for $45. Don't know how long the sale lasts. The sync module is $50, but if bought as a combo pack with the doorbell, is currently $63 for both (Regular $90).
I've tried two different Blink doorbells. Both are junk. Eat batteries and don't show video clips. Get something different. I'm a trouble shooter for an internet company.
Do not buy... This doorbell gives multiple triggers when the sun shines on it, reducing sensitivity so much that it will only trigger at very short distance, also i blocked out all of the sky/clods to stop the triggering, however this did not help, contacting the helpline, useless they do not respond. Also i bought a very good drive for storage, but the response time for replaying a capture is at least 10 seconds
just bought this with sync module because my squatting neighbor who just touched my camera today is sick disgusting person. cant wait until police and manager kicks her out for squatting for over 6 months.
Why did no one discuss the doorbell camera delay time? three of my mini indoor cameras and the wired floodlight camera show on the Blink app virtually immediately while the doorbell camera needs 4-6 seconds and as long as 12 seconds. The Blink technical team kindly sent me a replacement, but the new one has the same issue. The doorbell camera should be the quickest but not the slowest one.
So I have a miii camera and other Alexa speakers and I want the door bells to chime one them or alert .. do you have to have it wired in to work .? I don’t mind replacing batteries is there an option for this??
@@DIYReid thx I currently only have chime outside and it won’t let me use the chime on mini camera option says look and it won’t connect to alexa app says doesn’t support it so feel a bit cheated maybe it’s one thing I’m not doing ?

Thanks for this review. I very been going back and forth if i wanted to return my eken camera/doorbell chime for a blink doorbell since it can connect to echodot.
I think I prefer my eken t8 with 720p over this blink. The eken actually seems clearer and has better sound quality. I can hear people's conversations walking by on my street sidewalk.
Both blink and ring are owned by Amazon
I have a chime that plug's into the wall it wouldn't work with that would it? would I have to buy a chime? I have a echo dot also.
Echo will work. Enable the blink app in Alexa.
Nice review, with or with out battery when you wired the doorbell? cheers!
I reviewed it as battery only. Is that what you’re asking?
When you have blink cloud the clips backup once a day to local storage but are only viewable by ejecting the usb storage device and opening them on your pc not available through the app unless you cancel the cloud subscription with no cloud subscription clips are stored on the sync module 2 usb storage but canceling cloud subscription you lose live video recording and hourly clips
Can it be used with xfinity internet?
Yes
What speed do I need with Xfinity. What is the equivalent to 2.4 ghz
@humberthair5637 2.4hz is the wifi signal. Speed of internet should be fine on just about anything any cable company offers.
For live view u have to have a plus plan and basic u wont be able to use that feature
Night view sucks
Fair
the 50 dollar version is with the sync modual camera only is 34
I do have a question I do not have internet in my house but I do have a cell phone that I carry around everywhere I go is there a doorbell camera that do not need the internet in your house and maybe just connect to your phone how does that work or is that possible
I’m not sure if there is one. It would be Bluetooth most likely and your only connect to it if it was close.
@@DIYReid okay thank you
No problem.
On my Amazon echo devices I get a chime and some weird alpha numeric number announcements for the doorbell even though I changed the name to front doorbell. Any suggestions ?
2 years battery life! Only if you don't put the battery's in .... or attmept to use it ..... or want it to do anything useful.
It stops recording for 10 seconds after every 30 seconds captured, usless for security
My back part doesn’t look like that I ordered a new one cause my old one broke ??
How do I get my blink doorbell to chime through my blink indoor mini camera?
I’m not sure that’s possible.
Paid $48.98 for new Blink and sync 2 bundle on Amazon.
Can’t have live view recording without subscription
🙄
I have a lot of wild cats that jump back-and-forth from the front porch. Is it going to go off every time they move? Around, but?
Probably. Unless they are usually in a specific area where you can block it out.
Am I the only one in America who does not have wifi. Do they make one with Bluetooth 😊
Does the ring come with a chime that you can hear in the house ?
It connects to your chime you already have.
So if I already got the module I don't have to paid for the subscription? Just need to buy a USB to store the videos..?
Yup. That works.
Is it wired or also battery operated?
Like KC Chiefs yard sign….
Thanks!
Earned a sub, good clear vid, great points and straight to them 👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for the support!
The battery does not last. And it has a certain battery not normally double AA
Great video! I was wondering, even if I wire my blink with the existing doorbell wires will I still not receive the chime from the house doorbell?
I've tried two different Blink doorbells. Both are junk. Eat batteries and don't show video clips. Get something different. I'm a trouble shooter for an internet company.
It’s pretty sh*t that Amazon still haven’t released this in the uk yet
It’s now available in the UK as from today
@@Lee2k4 Thanks. Unfortunately I’ve given up and purchased something else.
Mine is hard wired and live view wont work at all
just bought this with sync module because my squatting neighbor who just touched my camera today is sick disgusting person. cant wait until police and manager kicks her out for squatting for over 6 months.
Do I need the module for just the doorbell camera?
So I have a miii camera and other Alexa speakers and I want the door bells to chime one them or alert .. do you have to have it wired in to work .? I don’t mind replacing batteries is there an option for this??
No. It does not need to be wired. Unless you want it to use your house chime.
@@DIYReid thx I currently only have chime outside and it won’t let me use the chime on mini camera option says look and it won’t connect to alexa app says doesn’t support it so feel a bit cheated maybe it’s one thing I’m not doing ?
Done it for mini just need too see if it will go to hub now Alexa not taking sync module yet ?
Thanks for the vid have subscribed also very handy :-)
