Even though Blink tries to confuse you, you don't need a cloud plan if you have the sync module. When your 30 days runs out it will continue saving clips to a flash drive.
The cloud plan isn't needed, however if you don't have it, videos take up to 30 seconds to load on your phone, or longer. You also don't have that preview you get on your phone.

How it going bud. This is a very good doorbell, especially like the wider angle lens. It covers more of your property than you would expect. Also, when someone presses the doorbell, I have 4 echo dot speakers around the house with a chime that sounds like howling wolves, absolutely love it.
Honestly, I would shop around. I have buyers remorse with mine. There is no live view. The only time you can look out live is if somebody comes to your door and triggers the motion you can’t just go onto the app and look out your front door at any time, and if you don’t buy the subscription through the company, you cannot view your videos of people showing up to your front door on the app. You have to remove the USB stick and plug it into your computer to look and see who showed up at your house you will still get an alert from the app but the app won’t let you view the videos without a subscription. It’s actually kind of BS. There are better kinds of doorbell cameras out their shop around.
@@BeanShawna you can do whatever you want, but the truth is you can’t just at any time look out your front door, unless somebody activates the motion sensor or pushes the button if you have motion off and even then you only have so much time to click on the alert and go to live you and it doesn’t always work every time
This is a good video. I wish I would have had that when I bought my system. I am not young so setting it all up did not come easy for me. There is only a minimal set of instructions not helpful at all. Without youtube I would have never been able to get this going.But this video really covers everything in great detail
You can adjust the motion sensitivity. Mine was too high and every tree branch made it go off. I adjusted it and now only when someone is coming towards front door would make it go off
How far back will the data be stored on a local USB drive and will it overwrite the old files over time on the USB drive? Can someone opt to just use local storage (usb drive) over paying the subscription?
When you have blink cloud the clips backup once a day to local storage but are only viewable by ejecting the usb storage device and opening them on your pc not available through the app unless you cancel the cloud subscription with no cloud subscription clips are stored on the sync module 2 usb storage but canceling cloud subscription you lose live video recording and hourly clips
I like the way u explain the instruction of the BLIKN DOORBELL very easily n simply. I say that because it took me about 2 hours to do the download n try to get a picture I end up returning it . maybe because I didn't have module 2 I only had the doorbell itself. thanks for explaining that in your video. one more question do I have to pay a monthly fee for the use of the Blink DOOBEL? I have read latencies of 20 seconds, 90 seconds and two minutes. It is not reliable as a wirelss doorbell period. It's a defect / shortcoming of the design. I 'd call it a front door monitoring camera but as a doorbell --i Laugh. I've never seen a doorbell (on wireless) work so poorly. The product is sold to work as a doorbell and not be wired into the existing chime in the house (thus all the fancy Alexa tones) BUT try this Blink unit in your home and try to push the button and have someone inside listen--they'll hear it chime ONCE--then a good two minutes pass before a second chime. Is the expectation that someone outside the door waits two minutes--NO--no one uses a doorbell that way.
I don’t have a doorbell connection to my home. If a person has set off by motion and “NOT PRESSED THE DOORBELL” Will I still be able to speak to them through my phone when I receive the notification such as a burglar in my home while I am at work?
Yes you can. So even if they don't press the doorbell. You will be altered for that motion has been detected. You can then view the live feed and even talk on the loud speaker.

Good review. Blink is rubbish. Continuously lagging, disconnecting. Even set to make a 30s video recording making just 6-7sec! I would do not recommend this product!
I had blink wireless outdoor camera, and the guy just took it because its not screwed in, now im waiting for the police to arrest him for 119€ criminal offense. Looks like if I buy this cheap one for 65€ it can be wired but there are no screws which means the guy will just take it again, and ill have to call the police again for another statement for 65€ ... Im ok with that but they should introduce some camera that has screws so you cant just take the camera lol
its rubbish, I bought a wireless doorbell there is no internal ringer available, and costs 10 euro per month for video, and does not work with usb memory stick.
Its not rubbish, i still use mine everyday since reviewing it. Amazon make an assumption that everyone has an echo speaker by now. If you do you can use it as an internal ringer. If you have multiple amazon speakers, you can get the internal ringer to ring on all speakers at the same time. This doorbell has served me well and i installed one at my sisters house and she also loves it.
I have it, and I use the sync module, which works great! You can purchase the anti theft box, which works great if you don't want to wire the door bell or live in an apartment building.
Hi this is a great camera, but only 30 second video NOT good, when you mount it to the wall it's not very good secured, for a security camera it can be demountable easy, I put double gorilla tape to secure the camera.

Well I can say it can come on your phone, an Echo device or the Blink Mini camera. I can also say it will ONLY ring once---then maybe in two minutes it rings again ....pretty sucky as a doorbell.
I have the same package apart from the mini camera. I set up routines for pressing the doorbell and motion sensor to make my 3 echo dots in house notify me "there is someone at the front door". However, it does not triggers the routines. I have enabled blink skill on alexa buy the way. Any help please
If you buy the doorbell, and use the app, you get adverts thrown at you, totally unacceptable behaviour. I can only assume the other products that use an app also throw intrusive apps at you.... Fancy paying for a product and have to tolerate apps.....

Can you list all the places where the names have to be changed; and if I already did change them, how can I correct this annoyance, which is especially embarrassing when friends come over?
Will try to help. Open the Alexa app, go to devices, then tap on all devices. You will see a list of all your Amazon devices. Tap on the device that has the same number/letters that gets called out. Then switch off motion announcements for that specific device. That should solve your issue. Let me know. Thanks .

That was a good idea, and I attempted to follow it, but unfortunately I find no device in the Alexa app listed by numbers and letters; the Blink DoorBell is found only once in the Alexa Devices list, and only by the name I assigned to it. But good news! - I just found a suggestion on Reddit from a member who said he turned off the motion announcement and turned it back on and that got rid of the vexing multi-character announcement, and I tried that and it worked! Now it only refers to the new name! Maybe someone else reading here in your comment section will also be helped.

Trying to set up just the subscription without the second (local) device. Is it even possible? Have tried everything to connect the doorbell and the paid Amazon blink account and it’s not connecting. can I access the drive without the cloud.. meaning if there is motion but I cant check at the moment, can i check what the motion was 5 mins later thru the usb storage on my phone or do i need the cloud
Why would you want to migrate from the old module to the new, doesnt that mean you will begin to have to pay a monthly free? Do you work for Blink?
Good question. I’m using the new module and it’s still free. I have learnt that in the UK it’s free for us all. USA have to pay.
@@ChigzTech I bought it early, approx 7 years ago. It might be therefore mine is free. I just want to know if it will begin to cost if I upgrade modules or perhaps even add cameras.

You can use it free without subscription but recordings will be stored locally on a usb drive. If you pay you get cloud storage, choice is there.
With these things the unit price is irrelevant.

Going through these reviews and was wondering why people keep asking about subscription. I’m also a blink outdoor camera customer for 4 years now and have never had to pay a sub and now I know why. Thank you, @chingz tech reviews. The only thing I don’t like about the door camera is that even if wired you still need to keep the batteries in, so replacing batteries will need to happen

Trying to set up just the subscription without the second (local) device. Is it even possible?
Have tried everything to connect the doorbell and the paid Amazon blink account and it’s not connecting. I’m pretty much tech capable but this has me stumped. Since this device is an Amazon device you’d think it would be simple and seamless. Nope.
I utilized my current doorbell wiring solely for its intended purpose as a doorbell, without connecting it to the internet, but it didn't function. Any insights into why it might not be working?

There is indoor chime. It chimes through your phone and can also chime through in-house Mini Camera (sold separately).
it chimes once, then you wait about 2 minutes to hear the person's chime hit again. Stinks as a doorbell. No doorbell on earth works that way.
Does it work for apartment doors .it's wireless?
