    I ride out the Jupiter inlet on a Kawasaki Ultra 310 Jet Ski. This is the only Jet Ski on the market today with a deep-v fiberglass and gelcoat hull designed for the rigors of ocean riding.
    I was the only boat out on the ocean, the conditions were decent, with 3-5 ft waves and wind gusting to 25 mph. High tide, 88 degrees outside

    I've gotta say, you are one crazy guy, how you attack that ridiculously rough water, I cruise at 15-20 mph max in 2 to 3 ft. swells, certainly not as brave or experienced as you. Mostly my fear is damaging my hull, but as I could see on your videos, the hulls on these machines seem to be almost indestructible, wow wow wow🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

      I owned 10 different skis before this and not one was able to plow through chop like the Ultra…the hull is probably the only thing on the ski that basically needs no maintenance and will essentially last forever

    Did the ocean beat you up or did the "deep V " hull cut through pretty well.
    One final question JD. I.m down to pulling the trigger on the ultra lx either 160 or 310. With me being 6’2" and 250, will the 160 have enough power for me to have (on rare occasions) a passenger ride with me without bogging down? I’m reading a few stories of brand new 310 ‘s having issues with supercharges . I’m so not mechanically inclined to fix my own ski, so I’m thinking the 160 might have enough power?
    I don’t need "quick" speed from a start but would like to cruise at 50+ mph on flat rides. Also I’m 65+ and don’t have many more riding years and don’t want ski in shop for a month due to mechanical failure. I know the 160 or any ski can break, just wondering if it’s worth taking the risk on supercharger. The extra $$ for the 310 is not an issue and I do t mind splurging on the extra fuel costs, but it would totally bum me out if I had super charger issues and in the shop.
    What is your opinion sir on the reliability of 310 bs 160? Thanks tons JD, with a little bit of work I can find either ski in the state of Georgia and purchase.
    OR… should I just go get a Kawasaki roughly a 2018 with zero bells and whistles and ride it like it’s bullet proof??

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Місяць тому +1

      Whoever told you they’re having supercharger issues is wrong, this is the same supercharger that’s been used since 2014 without any changes and there are zero known issues with it. It is produced by EATON and finished by kawasaki. The 310 is very maintenance heavy, and expensive to maintain. It’s got incredible low end torque which makes it a great machine to plow through chop like this. The hull cuts very well and is very confidence inspiring. If you want ease of maintenance and reliability go with the 160. A 2021 or 2022 Ultra LX will last you 1,000 hours and has no electronics to fail. The 2023+ Ultra 160 is a great ski, but don’t expect to cruise at more than about 50mph with a rider.

    • @CrochetNewsNetwork
      @CrochetNewsNetwork Місяць тому

      @@JDsWaterWorld AWESOME reply JD. Thanks a million. I will probably go for the 160, because 50 mph for me to cruise is ok most of the time. I will be riding in lakes here in Georgia so no huge chop. As long as I can eventually hit 50 mph I think that is fine with the trade off of not maintaining the supercharger. I suppose if the 160 is just not quite powerful enough I can trade it in next year on a 310 :-) ---- I learn so much from your videos and appreciate all the work you do .
      One final question. Can the 160 ride two adults and get over 35 to 40 mph?

    • @fernandorivera3391
      @fernandorivera3391 День тому

      @@CrochetNewsNetworkI have the 2023 160 ultra LX and I ride with the wife and my 14 yo kid at the same time and hit 50 mph with no problem at the lake, I do have the KSpeed ride plate, Riva intake and use premium gas, not necessary but is cheap at Costco. Now I've been at the ft Lauderdale inlet and is just too rough to hit 30 or 40 mph since the water there is always tough to ride and hit max throttle. Maintenance in the 160 is a breeze, is nice to have the 310 and use all that speed but you can't just ride at 65 mph for hours is just too painful and stressful plus it eats gas just by looking at it hahahaha plus like JD told you it is maintenance heavy, I'm an aircraft technician by trade and I just can't see myself turning wrenches anymore or diagnosing issues...hahaha

    IMPORTANT. -JD , I’m so sorry to bug you once again. I’m taking out a KAWASKI 310 Ultra LX-S tomorrow (Tuesday June 18, 2024) for test ride and hopefully purchase. It has 40 hours and all service records. Fresh water only and out of water on boat lift during the day and garage storage in winter. QUESTION(s):
    What are the main items I should look for? Both visually and performance. From your video it would appear to need an exhaust filter soon unless his service records show that it’s been done.
    What are major RED FLAGS I should be on the look out for? I just don’t want to purchase someone’s problems if they happened to get a "Covid" lemon.

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Місяць тому

      Well first of all make sure he’s had all of the recalls completed- there were 3 total. Verify the ski has had oil and filter changes and yes the exhaust filter likely needs to be changed. Fuel filter should be replaced at 50 hrs per manual as well..so he’s basically trying to sell it before having to do all this routine maintenance. Also the pivot bushing will have to be greased since it was probably never done. Check the jet pump and use a flash light to look in and verify the impeller has no nicks or gouges. It’s hard for someone in your position to adequately survey the ski without knowing all of the little things to look for. Take it out, put it in FPO mode and flog the crap out of it and make sure it runs OK lol

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Місяць тому

      Oh also, I would never buy a used ski that has had aftermarket mods done to it or a tune. In that scenario, the ski has likely been run hard and its life will be greatly shortened. People add these tunes and components to their skis, but then don’t step up their maintenance schedule accordingly, and then dump the skis before anything can go wrong. Note that your ski is probably out of warranty. When I purchase my ski, I purchased a five-year extended warranty on every ski I buy, I do most of my work myself, but it’s good to have the warranty in case of a major failure or electronic component failure. Note that on these new skis, there are a lot of electronic that can fail… for someone like you who is a new buyer and does not have that much experience with this model. I would honestly really recommend a brand new ski with a factory warranty, but you may be fine with a good used one as long as all of the services recorded, and you can verify there are no current issues issues.

    • @CrochetNewsNetwork
      @CrochetNewsNetwork Місяць тому

      @@JDsWaterWorld excellent. Can you tell me the three recalls? When texting the man’s wife she said there were no recalls on thier ski which I know is incorrect. I’ve heard of a wiring harness issue but cannot remember the other two. The guy is asking $13,000 but will take less. I’m wondering if this price is a little "too good: at around $11k to $12k? I mean if I can get it for $11k which includes trailer and cover - then that gives me room for maintenance no problem UNLESS there is something major. What are the two other recalls, and what do you think of the price?

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Місяць тому

      What year is the ski? There was the wire harness recall on all 2022 and 2023, a water intrusion recall, and a knock sensor software issue on 2022 models. You can always call a dealer and give them the HIN number and they can look and see if if there are any open recalls.

    • @JDsWaterWorld
      @JDsWaterWorld  Місяць тому

      Also, that seems like a pretty good price. There are no major defects with the engine or anything..really besides the recalls any issues come down to maintenance. Ask them if they fogged the supercharger after every use. It a pretty new ski and was fresh waster to as long as it was maintained halfway well it should be fine for you
