You're right about that, my cousins from Brooklyn, New York fought over candle sticks when their mom died, and didn't talk for the longest time. When my mom died, I had already moved out, and I went back to the house, and I took all the objects that were special to my mom before my Dad sold the house. It's so sad, when people never go back. I would take special items and bring them to an antique store, people love antiques, and there are people that even buy and collect old photographs!
In Europ people just don't hold that much value to these "old" things. I even saw it when my grandparents died. Our family just gave the stuff away that we don't hold value to. We didn't even ask money for it.

I love the wallpaper! The beauty of French homes, everything has a delicacy to it. My granny was French, and she had an eye for decorating. We very carefully distributed her treasures throughout the family to hand down as she instructed. She left me her rocking chair which she had rocked my mother, myself, and my babies in. Nice find Lesley, your respect for the property, adding the history of the home, and you always get us inside! Well done. That cabinet with all the carving - oh my goodness, how beautiful. Antiques dealers here in the U.S. would be chomping at the bit to get their hands on that cabinet, the car, the tractor. Amazes me the children had no interest in the items, or even for the land. House was old, but very charming. I actually love watching Nature reclaim places we have abandoned, but there were a few nice pieces in this one, (not the deer foot rack and lamp) but the carved wood took someone a lot of effort to do.🖤🇨🇦

Literally the best explore I have ever seen! WOW! It’s beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. With everything being left that way, time really has frozen, even ghosts must surely know the emptiness and sadness enveloping every inch of this home. It’s a shame that eventually nature will claim the land and the home will be reduced to nothing more than a pile of forgotten memories. It’s sad that the children felt no connection to anything in the home, pictures and family treasures left to rot. I can’t imagine letting things go that way. Memories just left behind, rotting, never to be shared with grandchildren or great grandchildren. You are far braver than I will ever be. After seeing that HUGE spider on the picture, my tour would have ended in me running from the house and never returning. You know that spider was not alone! ✌️❤️✌️

An amazing home just hurts me to hear the family didn't want it! Well sell it n let someone else make memories there! Instead the memories are being wiped away by decay n nature. I just don't understand how the family can just leave everything behind, we've had 3 homes from family members pass away on our property and what their kids didn't take we took what we wanted and donated the rest but family pictures and antiques just left behind is just so sad, most of my house is decorated from dead relatives stuff that know one wanted, I've got my grandpa's player piano because know one wanted it because it know longer plays, the keys work but grandpa ruined the player part but I've got memories of playing it when I was little so I kept it, I've got things that I don't need but can't bring myself to get rid of.
When my mother died the family wanted only a few things, and left me to deal with the rest, a huge old house and outbuildings, and all in a limited amount of time. I saved so much stuff of hers and other relatives. Still have a lot of it. I sort of wish I could have just closed the door and walked away. What a chore!

I was amazed to find so many parts of my fathers life when he passed away as we sorted thru over fifty years of his items, and could easily see his routines, interests, and struggles as he aged. I’m not sure how anyone can not collect the pictures at the least. So interesting looking at their homes.....

I live in france. Due to inheritance laws property has to be left equally between children. the government will take 60% taxes if a house is sold within 5 years of an owners death . If the children who inherit don't agree on the sale, a house will be left to rot for years, falling into disrepair . France is full of houses just like this, caught in no man's land. It's very sad.
@3s3.7cy so if they sell it within 5 yrs for let's say for example 100,000- 60,000 gos to government leaving 40,000 to be split among the children before other costs to have it sold ya that's ignorant. And would piss me off also.

This was certainly a lovely home and I was smiling often throughout the video. I didn't find the false teeth as gross as the deer feet for utilitarian use.
YES!! Every time I saw a deer hoof made into a piece of furniture or something, I would say " EEEW" lol that alone to me was creepy lol the rest of it was fasinating. The hand carved wooden dish cabinet was beautiful, as was many things. It amazes me how that place has sat like that without being picked through for valuables. I guess they have more respect for things like that over there than people do here in the US.

What a wonderful home. The essence of Rosa and Jon is still very much present. I would like to see an exterior view of this house. It appears to be a traditional French home built in the 1700's, that's only a guess since I doubt there is anything comparable in Montana USA. Love the low ceilings and narrow stairways. The floors and fireplaces appear to be of stone. Is the plaster made with straw and wooden bits mixed in? That beautifully carved sideboard is awesome and may have been carved around the time the house was built! Wow!
Our local second hand shop has a beautiful old cabinet practically identical to that one and it's on sale for 120 Euros. I have no room in my house to put it or I would certainly buy it!

there are a lot of factors for it not being taken care of. financial problems, maybe the kids and parents didnt talk, maybe the kids moved away out of the country, etc, you never know

I’ve seen it happen too many times and wonder if that would happen to me. You never think your kids and family would basically abandon you, but when they have their own lives I think it makes it easier to just ignore reality. I’m not like that. I’d go liv with my mom if I could.

I don't know if I find it strange that survivors wouldn't want their loved ones photos, but from watching all these videos we know it happens all the time.my deceased husband love photos much more than I did and he took them as much as possible and my daughter now has most of them. She raid my boxes of photos. I didn't mind, because she's like her father she loves photos.I would find it very strange if she didn't want any photos that I have to share or left.

Not allowing them to be forgotten. As it seems they would have been otherwise. By doing this you are actually recording their life after their passing. An amazing home just hurts me to hear the family didn't want it! Well sell it n let someone else make memories there! Instead the memories are being wiped away by decay n nature. I love the sewing machine n the old stereo! So you know I'm your Fam (fan/Family) n I'm not going anywhere. Love your channel. I know how hard you guys work. N go to school! I just don't understand how the family can just leave everything behind, we've had 3 homes from family members pass away on our property and what their kids didn't take we took what we wanted and donated the rest but family pictures and antiques just left behind is just so sad, most of my house is decorated from dead relatives stuff that know one wanted, I've got my grandpa's player piano because know one wanted it because it know longer plays, the keys work but grandpa ruined the player part but I've got memories of playing it when I was little so I kept it, I've got things that I don't need but can't bring myself to get rid of.

When my mother died the family wanted only a few things, and left me to deal with the rest, a huge old house and outbuildings, and all in a limited amount of time. I saved so much stuff of hers and other relatives. Still have a lot of it. I sort of wish I could have just closed the door and walked away. What a chore!
Beautiful and touching. Thank you for showing these homes. I was amazed to find so many parts of my fathers life when he passed away as we sorted thru over fifty years of his items, and could easily see his routines, interests, and struggles as he aged. I’m not sure how anyone can not collect the pictures at the least. So interesting looking at their homes.....

I live in france. Due to inheritance laws property has to be left equally between children. the government will take 60% taxes if a house is sold within 5 years of an owners death . If the children who inherit don't agree on the sale, a house will be left to rot for years, falling into disrepair . France is full of houses just like this, caught in no man's land. It's very sad.

This was certainly a lovely home and I was smiling often throughout the video. I didn't find the false teeth as gross as the deer feet for utilitarian use.
YES!! Every time I saw a deer hoof made into a piece of furniture or something, I would say " EEEW" lol that alone to me was creepy lol the rest of it was fasinating. The hand carved wooden dish cabinet was beautiful, as was many things. It amazes me how that place has sat like that without being picked through for valuables. I guess they have more respect for things like that over there than people do here in the US.

What a wonderful home. The essence of Rosa and Jon is still very much present. I would like to see an exterior view of this house. It appears to be a traditional French home built in the 1700's, that's only a guess since I doubt there is anything comparable in Montana USA. Love the low ceilings and narrow stairways. The floors and fireplaces appear to be of stone. Is the plaster made with straw and wooden bits mixed in? That beautifully carved sideboard is awesome and may have been carved around the time the house was built! Wow!
Our local second hand shop has a beautiful old cabinet practically identical to that one and it's on sale for 120 Euros. I have no room in my house to put it or I would certainly buy it!

there are a lot of factors for it not being taken care of. financial problems, maybe the kids and parents didnt talk, maybe the kids moved away out of the country, etc, you never know

VANDA HUMAN - Hello. I’m watching this a year later than it was posted, and I saw your comment. It is really terrible that anyone would leave their parents in their older years. I’ve seen it happen too many times and wonder if that would happen to me. You never think your kids and family would basically abandon you, but when they have their own lives I think it makes it easier to just ignore reality. I’m not like that. I’d go liv with my mom if I could.

Wow it's beautiful and historic. I don't understand why the kids didn't at least get the personal effects of the parents such as photos, personal possessions, etc. That makes no sense to me. However, the place is awesome!

I don't know if I find it strange that survivors wouldn't want their loved ones photos, but from watching all these videos we know it happens all the time.my deceased husband love photos much more than I did and he took them as much as possible and my daughter now has most of them. She raid my boxes of photos. I didn't mind, because she's like her father she loves photos.I would find it very strange if she didn't want any photos that I have to share or left.

Lesley , you've given us another wonderful look into people's lives by their home. No one does this as well and respectful as you. You make it a joy by the story you tell of them. Not allowing them to be forgotten. As it seems they would have been otherwise. By doing this you are actually recording their life after their passing. In doing so you have documentment they were here. Lived a wonderful life and then pass on. Which others never would have known they even exist if not for you.
