It has honestly been a unique experience for us especially not knowing a tiny bit of French😅 It's amazing to learn about Montreal's history and how it became the largest French-speaking city in Canada. You need two weeks to see all the sights! In the summer there are 142 outside concerts and many awesome events..every distinct neighbourhood has its own charm …been my home for 65 years and I love it!!!!

Montréal is definitely one of the best places to go to especially if it is your first time! I remember going there after first arriving in Canada back in 2009. Ever since, I've been there 5 times. You could say it's a top destination to go to X) And as a history geek, Montréal definitely offers tons! It was great to see this vlog! I'm looking forward to the VIA Rail one and at last to watch your Toronto vlog! A huge congrats to Max getting her citizenship :D Stay blessed as always :)

If you like architecture ,The Montreal’s City Hall is among Canada’s most magnificent buildings and is widely regarded as one of the best examples of Napoleon III-style architecture. It was built between 1872 an 1878. Another Iconic and historical building,The Sun Light Building ,was built in 1931 and was the first structure of its kind in the city. It was the largest structure in the British Empire, and its use as the country’s gold reserve during World War 2 cemented its historical significance. Even if you are unfamiliar with the history of the Sun Life Building, its towering design conveys its significance. Built between 1913 and 1931, it is a stunning example of Fine Arts architecture. It was the site of Operation Fish, which saw Britain transfer its gold reserves from war-torn Europe to a vault beneath the Sun Life Building during World War II. To prevent detection, the gold was delivered in fish-themed crates. Habitat 67, a mind-bending housing complex designed by architect Moshe Safdie, is one of Montreal’s most iconic instances of brutalist architecture. congrats Max! happy being Canadian, eh?! i just visited Montréal for the first time last month! so this is exciting to watch, a nostalgia personally Montréal has more of a New York-Brooklyn vibe especially in the Plateau-Mile End area than European to me, Old Montréal / Old Québec (in Québec City) is the epitome of Old Canada, i don’t think you’ll find a local this developed, reserved when Canada was still a colony, caveat i have not been to the Maritimes what blew me away is how much culture is in that city! when you leave Downtown, French becomes prevalent. trying out the food inherent to Montréal/Quebec was a cool experience, this is “Canadian” food! LOL i was waiting for the English announcement in the metro that never came! i’ve seen a lot of old churches in Europe and temples in Asia, the inside of Notre Dame Basilica of Montreal is uniquely stunning, it took me aside; i didn’t see the light show either. i’ve been to St-Peter Basilica in Rome and Marie Queen of the World is a miniature version! it’s weird that you guys just didn’t go in, it’s free (it was for me anyways); you can view it without doing then light show at Notre Dame or you didn’t see people coming in/out of the church or in the next v-log! the area i stayed in “Chinatown 2.0” was so lively and busy every night, had awesome Korean eateries i wish they had in Vancouver i was there when it snowed on April 19th, my last day; it melted in the evening and sunny the next day when i flew out. it rained mostly the entire week with a couple days of sunshine would like to go back in a Fall-season one day, i heard it’s beautiful!

@@NatandMax I would start in Iceland 🇮🇸. In the winter or summer it’s amazing and Icelandair fly direct from Vancouver 👍 Plus from there connections to the rest of Europe are easy!
Largest French speaking city in Canada? I suspect that if you check how much of a city’s population can speak French, we would surely be the largest French speaking city on the continent. Most read French language newspaper on the continent is the Journal de Montréal. Most viewed French language TV news is TVA news in Montréal.

We would love that! It might be too early to tell, it might depend with the amount of time we have🙂 But would love to explore the old town along with other places if we could❤️
I have visited this city several times and I think this is NOT a French city, but rather a multilanguage city. This is the beauty of this marvelous lovely city. However, recently I heard their local state Government passed a law forcing everyone to use only French while they are in Montreal. Another problem tourists are facing, is all the traffic, parking, and road signs are only in French which 97% of peoples in the world does not read or speak. So, before coming to this city, better learn French or don't come. In fact, you are not welcome.
False false false! There is no law requiring everyone to speak French! The PROVINCIAL government has passed a law to strengthen protection of the French language, and mainly applies to how business is conducted and schooling of children (not university). It does not effect visitors more now than previous language laws. The new law is controversial for anglophones (like me) and allophones living here - many Francophones don’t like it either. Road signs throughout the province are only in French (for the last 45 yrs), but are mainly pictorial to be universal. Drivers in any place outside their home base should always familiarize themselves with local driving laws and signage before coming, or simply use the extensive public transportation available. That also solves your traffic and parking dilemma! Montreal is a great walking city also - quite flat, but the slope gets more challenging as you approach the mountain Mont Royal. There actually is a path that starts in old Montreal that leads up to the mountain park if you dare - be prepared for stairs! Glad you’ve enjoyed your previous visits and hope you will come again!
I live in Montreal and there is no such thing as french only . Montreal is multicultural where french and english are spoken by the majority . You will hear all languages of the world on the streets and people are multilingual.. The province of Quebec is the only province in Canada where you can live and study in both official languages of Canada from kindergarten to post gard university education.

Unfortuantely, as for language issue is very serious in day-to-day matters. Vertually every country of the world teaches their own native laguage and English as second language and all sign bords are in local and English almost 99% major cities of the world and Montreal is in 1% where no sign is in French with english except few and it become nightmare for tourists in parking, finding place of interest and even road names are like compelte sentences. By the time new comer read Chemin de la ??? you pass the sign. This is beautiful International city should be like "iNTERNATIONAL CITY".
