There 3 buses which landed you to the town of the Mount Royal , 11 all year round, 711 during week-end and summer and 165 a bit further but throught a nice stroll along the park .
Last time I was in Montreal (vs driving through it) Michael Schumacher still drove for Ferrari. Was there for an F1 race weekend...pretty much spend the days hammered at the track and partying at night and hungover in the morning. Good times!
have you guys been to Quebec City? that is my favourite City in Canada, literally in the old town you could be walking around Paris, Le Lapin restaurant i highly recommend along with a walk up to the Frontenac
What a gorgeous city. I’ve always thought it looked lovely when I see it on the F1 race. Definitely on the list to travel to. Great video and we look forward to checking out more of your videos. Sending best wishes from Wales x
Still enjoying our heat? Better get back, Henri wasn't so bad and NS' draw bridge 🌉 is going back up! We updated our windows ourselves, yup, even put one inside down at 110 cm! Much love Josée 🎠😁😘
You cannot compare Montreal to any other city in North america. Montreal is 400 years old canadian capital of culture, architecture, food , creativity, best quality of life, the biggest and oldest museum, bult on an island 10 times bigger than Manhathan . The greater Toronto includes cities so far away from downtown ( 50 km ) just to make it the most populous but not the better place to live . Toronto has no identity, a car culture like any USA cities and it is not a wakable and rich historical city. People from Toronto come to Montreal for night life and beautiful people and food.
Oh my, what a magnificent city! Maybe the cookie van should be at the top of those steps for extra incentive! Loved the colourful flowers in the streets. Great filming and info as always, thanks guys 👍😍
Great video. Is the cross on top of Mount Royal still there? It had lights on it at night and you could see it from quite far away. The city looked more beautiful than I remember but it's been 15 years or so since I've wandered around downtown. Felix and Norton, I had forgotten about those cookies. They are yummy.
I was planning on climbing to the top of Mont Royal in October, but if you guys are out of breath, I’ll never make it. I think I’ll take the bus up and walk down. I’ve been to the Old Port twice this summer and I have not seen Felix and Norton cookies. I must go back and hunt them down. 😂
Thanks for doing more of the less touristy locations for food. I'm going to Montreal next week and was going to go to Schwartz, but will do Lester's instead based on your recommendation in your previous video.
Bravo on that upward stair hike - my eventual crawling on hands and knees would’ve ended with me collapsing face down while gasping for air. 😅To my understanding, Atlantic Canada has implemented strict restrictions throughout the pandemic; I can’t speak for the whole of Ontario, but it seems for Toronto and the GTA it’s a mixed bag when it comes to the level of caution among different people, at least during more recent times. From your fantastic video, Montréal seems to be a beautiful city of contemporary taste but with an old-world charm. Très bien!
Montreal is an amazing town, And there's no shortage of amazing towns to visit. Im excited to visit Schwartz deli, Do their dripping sandwiches taste good? 😍
Loved the vid guys, everything from the gorgeous view at Mont Royal to the iced coffees at Tommy's. Being an English speaker from Ontario only knowing "un peu de francais", is it best to "try" to order food in French, or do Quebecers prefer us Anglophones to just speak English without butchering the French language. Lol, just curious! Fyi, no social distancing in T.O either... Here where I live in small town Woodstock, ON. Yes!
Interesting you ask that Sue (trying to speak en français). You certainly don't need to speak French in this city but they still do appreciate it if you can of course 🤗 - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers « definitely dont need French in Montreal??? ». C’mon, your acting like privileged Canadian boys. At least do the effort of speaking French to Quebecers. I thought English Canadians would know basic French!!!
Welcome back to the road, and Bienvenue a Montreal. It is one of my favorite cities in the world! It has everything you want in a great city, except it could use a major climate upgrade. It's Metro and Bixi bike system & rentals make getting around convenient. I love the French ambience, language and culture, and for an architecture-lover, it is heaven!. Vieux Port and Vieux Montreal are wonderful, and there are new undiscovered cafes down many alleys. I suppose it was nice for you, but it is kind of sad to see Place Jacques Cartier and Bon Secours Market so empty on a warm August day. Some of those attractions in the Vieux Port must be new, as I did not know them. You mentioned that Beach by the St James Church, and there is a nice beach right on Riviere St Laurent called Clock Tower Beach. Plateau and Mile End are great neighborhoods, but I try to add 1 or 2 new neighborhoods each visit. Montreal is built to scale, as only highrises downtown,, unlike Toronto and Vancouver (West End especially) which have gone crazy with cubbyhole condos built to the sky. I love all the culture, the street buskers (after all, Montreal is home to Cirque du Soleil), the light shows at night, and all the great festivals - jazz, film, comedy, etc. Montreal is the NYC of Canada, so you can visit 20 times and experience something different every time. You got the sesame bagel, and I have been told that due to the volume sold, it is the best one to get because it is always super fresh and warm. I give a slight edge to St Viateur, but both are great. BasiIique Notre Dame is not the biggest cathedral in the world, but one of the most beautiful. The back-lit blue hues make you feel you have arrived in heaven (and I am not even Catholic). Magnifique! It is where Celine Dion got married years ago. Wrong season, but hockey in Montreal is a religion. Have you ever done the LaChine Rapides? It is really fun! Good to see you back and past all the Covid Cult stuff. I pretty much gave up on Canada, and their ridiculous tyranny - along with Australia, NZ and US blue states. The scam will be revealed in due time. I have a couple of friends in Montreal - both bi-lingual, but one a native and the other a transplant from Winnipeg via Vancouver.. they say the Quebecois are rebels at heart, so did not really go in big on the mask charade, and social distancing is unknown to these very friendly people. Always love viewing Montreal thru different eyes. Mont Royal is also great for sunrise, but there are better places for sunset, given the Ile du Montreal's position vis-a-vis the sun. There is a neat skating rink in winter on Beaver Pond - partway up.the hill. The coffee is so great that I try to add a new spot each time. 49th Parallel, a great shop in Vancouver, with a killer view, is now in Montreal - though no English Bay view. However, an old home base of Banque du Montreal has been turned into a magnificent coffee shop. I do hope the city gets another baseball team - just not playing in the cavernous Big "O". I do love the Biodome next door, which was the Velodrome in the 1976 Olympics, and I saw that event there, and a few others. It is just an incredible city, so glad you love it as well!
French explorer Jacques Cartier left behind his first European settlement on Montreal island in 1535, long before it was called Ville Marie. We had a European settlement before any other city in North America.
On social distancing here in England we are rapidly dropping the use of masks and distancing especially after the legal restrictions were removed. Yesterday we had 32k new cases but the hospitalisation and death rate is now low due to the high vaccination rate. So we return to normal and save the economy.
@@DelightfulTravellers I didn't take it at all last year, but got the courage this summer and it was fine (I'm high risk, but vaccinated!) People are masked. I always walk to the end of the platform so there are less people.

I love Montreal and enjoyed watching this. I was last in Montreal in October 2018. It is a nice trip by train from Toronto. In addition to Old Montreal, I really enjoyed my visits to the markets around town and the light show at the Botanical Gardens.
Some people often ask me ‘can you add milk to an Americano’ and I say why not! It’s perfectly fine to ask for a little milk to add to your Americano and don’t worry about being looked down upon by the barista or coffee snobs.
I hope the vaccination rates are high. I remembered the first time I was in Montreal with my family, and it was such a great city! If COVID wasn't a thing, I'd imagine the city to be bustling with life. Hopefully, the restrictions won't last long if they maintain the pace of vaccinations. 😊
90% of Quebecers are vaccinated two to three times. Quebecers had to submit to very severe restrictions, including curfews, closure of restaurants, bars, schools, universities, vaccine passport, etc.
