It's exciting to see the changes to see the changes coming to xbows. Your channel is what got me into crossbow hunting. I'm not even embarrassed to say that I got an amazon "Killer Instinct 420" xbow 3 years ago. Since then I've set myself up for 20-30 yard shots each hunting season since. I've harvested a deer every single year since I got it. None of the deer ran more then 40 yards from where I shot it. I'll probably never go back to bow hunting. Not dogging on bows. I love my bow. But when I'm hunting I want to be responsible and be kind to the animal I'm taking. IMO, nothing is better than a crossbow for that. Love your channel!
Entry level crossbows rock! i got a killer instinct 405 this bow season, and after shooting 14 times to sight in my 15th shot was a clean kill at 40 yards. These 2k$ crossbows and $800 scopes blow my mind, its unnecessary.
In talk about ten point safety I have the 505 and I can make it not click. had a buck at 20 yards and was able to turn the safety off with out alerting the deer. Ittakes practice but it can be done.. on the "bumper" it is the cocking handle its molded in to the frame of the cross bow to store it.
Hunters! Good News! Greater speed from a crossbow won’t make you more aware of wind direction. It won’t make you take greater care of scent control. It won’t make you wise to a converging hub in the middle of a deep woods ! So don’t take arrow SPEED to heart! Be much more concerned with. Finding Your game and shot PLACEMENT than such silly things as arrow speed! Trust me , your six year old crossbow will kill anything imaginable with a new broad head and proper shot placement!
Hello Bungie! It’s so good to see you again.😉 And I’ll do my best to answer your question about the safety switch on the newer Ten-Point models, or at least on one of them. I purchased the RS-440 Havoc three years ago. Speaking for myself, but only concerning this model, the answer is yes, they do make an audible sound. And it’s the same on this particular model of crossbow all the way around the board. It is a pretty big deal to me to. But it’s NOT a deal breaker, at least for me. Like yourself Bungie, and a lot of us, I take my time in the woods very serious, and especially when it comes to my equipment. Yes this is a bummer, but if you take some extra precaution and care every time you engage/disengage it, you can engage/disengage it very quietly. At the same time though, and speaking totally honest, if you was to just click it off/on with no thought or regard to it, you would 100% hear the click, and so “COULD” every deer around you! I cannot speak for other TenPoint models, but every RS-440 Havoc that I’ve seen or handled has been the same. Bungie you bring up the best issues and questions concerning todays crossbows, and I love that about your channel. And whats not a deal breaker for me, very well might be for you, or others, and vice versa, so this is an excellent question and great insight concerning their crossbows. I live in Northeast Ohio, and it’s literally only a 5 minute drive for me to TenPoints company headquarters. Archery season here is just around the corner so I will be visiting TenPoint very soon to have my crossbow gone over, and to look at some newer models. For as much as the issue of the noisy safety switch has entered my head (ON STAND) it’s really crazy that I’ve never mentioned it to anyone at TenPoint, or anywhere else for that matter. Maybe it’s because I’ve never had a hunt spoiled because of it, at least not yet anyways!🤞🏻I can tell you that I’m fully aware of the fact that I need to take precaution whenever I’m on stand as far as remembering it though. I will be bringing this up to them. I will also provide a follow up comment at a later date when I know if it’s an issue on the newer models as well. I’d also like to add that Bungie is 100% correct in saying that the circular knob located at the bottom of the stock is NOT for resting the stock on for a shot. It is in fact the “CRANK HANDLE” that your seeing for the Accu-draw system. It is not a “BUMPER” for shooting the crossbow!!
I agree the range finding scope is the way of the future. As is faster crossbows. Neither of which make you a better hunter. Rich, it is the skills we learned toting around our axioms that made us better crossbow hunters.
Rich and Jason, Agree 100%! I take you back to Rich’s public land doe. In the right hands, the technology can make some thing’s possible at times that wouldn’t be possible. I do not propose speed or other things as a panacea for lacking skills. But without the technology, would Rich have scored that doe? For those out there that make irresponsible shots due to their lack of experience or skill, it’s on them. Perhaps there are more than a few people out there that believe they know more than they do.
I have a 10 point xrt 470 and a nitro 470. The safeties do click but not loud and never been an issue for me while hunting. Also I just received a Burris oracle for Christmas and can’t wait to get it sighted in.
I bought this years Barnett Whitetail Hunter 400 XTR and the safety on that thing is amazing. I was surprised that clicking it off was all but silent. Putting it back on you really have to hold on to it to keep it from clicking. But taking it off safe you can just use your thumb and push forward. No clicking. Nice doe and a 7 point so far this year!!!
I have a Tenpoint Vengent S440. I'm assuming this is the predecessor to the Stealth 450 you're looking at in this video. I've already contact Tenpoint about adding the scope rail struts to my Vengent but they have told me they are not available to use on any other models than the new models released with the new technology already installed. For your question about the safety. When I click the safety to FIRE with just my thumb there is a small click sound. However, I almost always use my thumb and first finger from my shooting hand (right) to move the safety to FIRE. Using my thump and finger makes it silent. I've checked out the Tenpoint compact crossbows at a couple of the stores and I wouldn't trade the full size Vengent for any of the compact models. I want better hand placement and 20 inch arrows. My Vengent S440 only shoots around 410 fps with the Evo X Centerpunch arrows. I wouldn't recommend hunting with anything lighter. They do advertise their bow speeds with the 400g arrow which is slightly off putting but I love the bow either way.
I bought the centerpoint wrath 430 and put a killer instinct scope with the speed rings. Hunting late season to fill a doe tag in Ohio. Was looking at the Ravin R26X but for the budget buyer the wrath 430 was a good option for weight and length of a crossbow. Hunted with compound for over a decade. Love your videos! Keep it up!
In order for ten point to increase their FPS they had to relocate the bow string on the opposite side of the cam, increasing the draw length, like scorpyd does, and like missions crossbows does.
Hell - I am obsolete at 70+ years old. The speed scope is not the flintlock of scopes - yet. Ya, I know, it will be one day but I wont be hunting to know it. Just hope I am in the field in carbon form to be apart of the timeless hunt. Here's to you - from the dawn of time to the end of the hunt!
Rich and Bunji fans, I used a TenPoint Vengent 440 this year and scored 3 deer with it (one small 7 point buck and two does). It's an awesome xbow, and I love TenPoint I've used the Vengent, Titan Extreme, and Titan M1, so I'm a big fan of TenPoint. But I'm on the fence with the accuslide because on one of my hunts this year my accuslide strap broke! It was my fault because I wasn't paying attention and over cocked it. Took me out of the hunt for the rest of the hunt that day which was a special draw hunt. I spent $100 getting it repaired and thankfully it was covered under TenPoints warranty if it wasn't for that I'm told it would have been over $500. The M1 is awesome also but now I have to have it fixed because of issues with the cams hopefully the warranty covers it as well. TenPoints warranty is awesome. I've hunted with xbows since 2010 and started with Barnett and then Centerpoint, So TenPoint is my favorite. I did kill deer with the other xbows but will stay with TenPoint for now, and after your video with the Oracle X, I'm really excited to put my TenPoint Vengent back out next year. All 3 TenPoints are capable of being quiet when you use the safety switch if you ease them.
You are so right about the nocks I bought a stealth NXT when the first come out broke 3 nocks blowed strings off. They finally sent me a string and cables and new limbs which was split after telling me they no problems with the nocks They come out later with a metal nock no more problems.Great bow now so why did they let something out like that ..
This is just the stealth nxt from 2018 modernized. Just like it has been for the past few years. Still have my stealth nxt and love it but if I had to guess uncocked width is 11.5 as that is what it is with the previous models
Just stumbled on your site, thanks! I hunt with a Hunter (now called TenPoint) Turbo Extreme, '98 vintage, it still harvests deer. However a nice 8 pt passed me at 55 yds, it was beyond the range for my Xbow. So, at 70+ I am looking ... however from a purchase of $300 to $2100 is a big jump. My BIL who worked in sporting good store once said "there is not limit to what a deer hunter will spend on his craft.. Blessings
I have a ten point nitro 505 that was bought in July of 2022. As of yet have not been able to hunt with it due to accuracy problems and lack of customer support. Ten point has really disappointed me in every way.
Wow, that is totally unacceptable. I am really sorry to hear that. I really hope things turn around for you, if you get a lemon they should make it right.
@@Deathbybunjie Yes you would think so. They say they had no problems with 505 but yet added the scope mount supports, Normally companies don't pay big money for new engineering unless a problem is costing them big money.
I don’t mean to make anybody mad but I don’t care for Tenpoint crossbows I had two of them. One was was a wicked ridge and one was Horton storm they made I had string problems with both and the person I talked to on both occasions was very rude. And they didn’t answer my questions or fix the problems.
I must say the Accuslide crank system produced by TenPoint is at a different level than most all other cranks. Easy, safe and quiet. TenPoint safety is extremely quiet.
Love your channel! Learned a lot when comes to my crossbow. I also got the Oracle scope. Takes guessing out of equation when comes to range. I have the Wickedridge 4X by 10 point. The safety if released quickly will make an audible click. If go slow will release w no audible sound.
I don’t know how how Tenpoint is but raven is pretty bad. I retired a year ago last September bought myself a raven R 29X sniper package for deer hunting in Indiana on my annual trip from Arizona. had a couple issues could not get RAVEN to answer a customer service call or email in a timely manner. It appears all of their resources are utilized in design, manufacture, and sell and the heck with customer service. Pretty sickening. All they’re authorized dealers I have contacted agree that their communication with customers and dealers is pathetic and they’re all pushing Tenpoint instead. However, they are accurate and they do kill deer. Kind of a love-hate thing with them right now. 👊👍😎
Got the stealth NXT have lost deer by turning off safety. Most deer you see coming but you know there's that one that sneaks up on you and you kick off the safety and it freaks out.
Rich whats your thoughts on barnets and did any company take over parker they were a nice crossbow for the money thanks for your videos very informative
Probably more people have killed deer with a Barnett crossbow than any other brand lol, that says a lot about them, good stuff. Parker, I think, was a great crossbow company but something forced them out of business. I think they were bought by a company called Ridgemont outdoors, at least that company sells parts for them online. Looks like they bought their remaining inventory or something. Interesting stuff!
I bought the Ravin R20 two years ago and have taken three deer with it. My old crossbow was a Barnett Quad400 and it was literally falling apart. If it wasn't, I would still be using it. But Im hoping the Ravin lasts me a good long time. Honestly, I think shooting faster would be dumb
I have a Tenpoint Havoc 440. I use a tube of oil with a fine needle style tip that I use to put a couple drops of oil on the trigger assembly. Helps to quiet the click of the safety, also keeping a little pressure on it when flipping the safety off helps quiet it down. Only problem with a reverse draw cross bow is when it fails you will get slapped by the cables. I found out due to a failure of a knock. Inspect the Knocks, they have a 3 sided box type look to them and only a couple thousands deep. If they are cracked or look deformed do not shoot them. love my Tenpoint. Always accurate.
My Tenpoint Turbo M1 is going on 3000+ shots with all original parts on from day 1. I'll change strings and cables next season. But I think I'm ready to try one of their newer reverse draw crossbows. You need to just go ahead and get yourself a Flatline 460!
My venent s440 makes a soft click going to the off position and a snappy click going to safety on. I didn't feel like decocking one day so I screwed on a field point and shot at a leaf on the ground to the right of my tree stand. My bow was too close to the tree and violently whacked the tree trunk. I thought my bow exploded from the sound of it but it was fine. Impressive how tough they are. At inside 40 yards and 410fps all the deer I shot flinch after the bolt has passed through them. No need to go faster in my opinion. Also I learned that when I practice I can't aim at the same bullseye with each shot. It is arrow on arrow accurate and gets expensive if you do.
That does sound like just the right amount of speed, perfect at those hunting distances that's for sure. Your zone of confidence perfect out to 40 yards, what more can we ask for? Also, I had a recent accident decocking my crossbow that will be in an upcoming video. I wasn't as lucky haha
@@Deathbybunjie Oh man can't wait for that video. By the way, your where to aim on a turkey video was great. I'm going to try turkey with my bow for the first time soon. My instincts for where to aim was all wrong. I would have been shooting breast meat had I not watched that video. Hope I get a chance to do a Texas heart shot lol. Have a great new year my friend.
I'm really getting into crossbows now and although I really still enjoy hunting with my vertical compound, I have really begun to delve more and more into crossbows and crossbow hunting. With that said, I would like to see a review on crossbow presses. I'm currently looking at ones from Last Chance Archery and a lesser known model from the gentleman who makes the Monster Pac Press. He now sells a collapsible modular inline crossbow press and also makes one that can accomodate both vertical compounds and crossbows and it goes down to 2" to up to enough to press a vertical compound. I don't see many independent reviews on crossbow presses.
Interesting, I don't need a press for any of my crossbows but I'm sure that will change down the road, I wonder where I would even start looking at different models
I'm not sure about this one. Lengthening the bow to achieve longer string contact I assume for more speed only throws that riser and all its weight even farther out forward. When I made the decision to buy the RDX-400 it was because the weight balance was closer to your shoulder. This is the opposite, and why? To what purpose? Is it speed? What if they'd design a lenghthier reverse draw bow, thus increasing string contact possibly speeding it up AND keeping the weight rearward. Now THAT I'd be interested in. But it's always good to see R & D busy at work. Thanks again Master of Bunjie!
In regards to Tenpoint’s i read that some models had issues with either string or arrow rubbing on one side of the rail quite significantly and people were rightfully returning them. I wonder what that problem was about? It also might have been one or two models only. Hope you good luck today
And YES...the safety clicks. I usually put pressure up or down as I'm sliding it to absorb some of the sound. Upon my initial sight-in on my RDX-400 I noticed this. Very disappointing.
I've been watching you're videos here lately and you done one about the raven r500 and they been having a problem with them after about 50 shots the string jumps of the cams and the electric crank is noisy
Thanks, Rich. i do intent to up grade from the Carbon Express, pile of garbage, I bought. ( I hate to sell it and dump it on some one as Karma will come back on me and bite me hard.) You may remember the C.E. crossbow I bought that came from the factory with the cams out of sync, that cost me $150 dollars to correct in addition to the retail cost of the crossbow. I could have sent another $35 dollar over the retail price of the Carbon Express and could have bought a Ten Point, or at least many other dependable manufacturers crossbow. Please DO keep these videos coming. I could have saved a ton of frustration from my purchase of the Carbon Express, a pile of garbage crossbow. if I had bought another brand. I still say my Barnett youth crossbow out shoots the Carbon Express. (Over a $250 dollar difference..) I bought the Barnett for under $100 at a Black Friday sale from Wal Mart and the accuracy is is superior to the Carbon Express. The Barrette is only 240 F..P.S. yet I have harvested 6 Deer with it. Only two with the Carbon Express at 350 F.P.S. . The Carbon express always shot way to the right, even at 10 yards leading missing the deer totally or to gut shots from the Carbon Express, that hurt the deer for far longer than the slower Barnett with double lung shots. Go figure. . . . Perhaps you might conciser a video on Crossbows to avoid in future videos?? If you don't want to, I understand.😭
This is a good point, one of the things I am trying to accomplish with looking at new crossbows is helping people avoid different features they may not like. Really sorry to hear about your struggles with the carbon express! Hopefully your next crossbow, if any, is an improvement. Good luck!
I purchased a Carbon Express Intercept Supercoil about 7 years ago for around $6-700. It was a pretty good bow and I took several deer with it. It was not to the level of the top end crossbows, but it was pretty decent and very accurate. As time went by, I heard that Carbon Express was purchased by another company. The quality appeared to change dramatically. There are not like they were before at all. I see a lot more lower quality plastics in them and they do not resemble the strong metals and materials that the old one had.
@@douglasborgaro6801 Yep, I agree with you. I bought mine 3 1/2 to 4 years ago. The shop I bought it from went out of business shortly after. Hmmm. Me thinks I know why they shut down. 🤠
Another gripe I have about 10 points is, that most crossbows, come standard with an ambidextrous safety. My RS 470 made by Ten point is the most expensive piece of hunting equipment I own, why do I have to pay them 10 bucks more to get an ambidextrous safety…! Still love my Excals over my Tenpoint…!
That's interesting, you know what's funny the only show most of the pictures it seems like from the right hand side so you never really see the left hand side, I didn't even notice that they didn't have a left hand safety. Thanks for pointing this out.
I have the Havoc 440 and I have had no issue with the safety. Mine makes no noise if I move it slowly. Killed a nice 8 point and a couple doe this year with mine and no issues with the safety alerting them.
Rich, I promised a video to send you but my camera died and I had to take it in to get fixed. You will get the vid after January 5th. But to comment on your post. I have a Bear X Constrictor. Before it got cold my wife's cousin and I were target shooting our bows with in my case 338 grain and 404 grain arrows. At 30 yards my arrows were shooting completely through the bag. It ripped off my vanes. My wife's cousin has the Ten Point 505. He was doing the same thing bye bye vanes. We wanted to know what arrow grains had the best punch. We put another bag about a foot behind the front bag and both were driving into the second bag about 6 inches. We put a chronograph and with both arrow grains I shot 412 FPS and he was at 500 fps. No difference in speed on bold gain arrows. We both found that odd as well as penetration did not show any difference. I guess the geometry of the new bows it really did not matter much. The only thing we could think of is speed. We talked about my rifles (.243 and .308). they both have about the same exit damage but the .243 is only one hundred gain and the .308 is 200 grain. The .243 is faster and the .308 is heavier. We concluded that speed is just as good as weight. I would entertain your thoughts on this.
It may not be an exact relationship but it certainly is true, when we talk about momentum, speed and weight are equally part of the equation. With Kinetic energy, however, speed is much more important, because it is speed times itself in that equation, whereas the weight is there by itself. Does that make sense? But I can totally see how it would be similar to bullets.
So I got into crossbow hunting by getting a huge deal on a Barnett crossbow a few years ago. I've been very successful with it,BUT the thing doesn't fit me whatsoever. To be able to hold it and see through the scope the bottom of the stock has to be at the top of my shoulder lol.. I went to bass pro the other day and they had a 10 point. It fit like a glove. It was perfect. Unfortunately I have way to many expensive hobbies. And my Barnett has been great so far lol. Maybe in a few years I'll make the upgrade
I know what you mean about having the right height for the scope, that's something. At least it's working for you overall, good luck when you upgrade too!
For us bigger guys, does eye relief suffer with the compact crossbows? I seem to need a good bit of length from the butt stock to the eyepiece of the scope. I’m happy with what I have but just curious if the max length between the end of the butt stock and the max forward position of the scope is relatively the same maximum with these more compact length crossbows. Otherwise if I don’t have enough length between my cheek weld and the scope eyepiece, I get sight blackout on outer edges of the eyepiece just like you would expect with a badly adjusted eye relief. ?
I am betting that some models fit us better than other models. I am concerned about that, personally, and there are limits to how far forward we can push those scopes. It's a good point, and a reason why you got to try them out I guess.
Oh yeah I can ease the safety on my t 440 quietly , by the way, there really is no difference between that bowl and the vengeant for Florida other than they’re calling that a 450 possibly re-packaging an existing model ?
Why do I think that Bungie 4 will be arriving in 2023, prior to the xbow hunting season.....and it's gonna have 10 points too! LOL Great reviews, Rich....always entertaining and informative. I was thinking of upgrading my old Excalibur Exomax (slightly more tricked out version than the OG), and was eyeing a Siege last year, but never pulled the trigger on opening the wallet....but the new Flatline with an OracleX on it has me wondering how I'm gonna hide such a purchase from the "boss" (aka: wife). ;-)
@@Deathbybunjie Ain't it just... rather expensive. though. And if you get one, you'll still be supporting Scorpid, if 10P is paying them a royalty for the reverse draw design, so still "in the family" so to speak.
I was Dangerously close to buying a viper S400 Tenpoint on sale during Labor day.. until i realized it was only 370 fps with the included bolts. Now i don't know what I want.
How can some people see them crossbow scope hairs I have a range master pro on a 410 stealth. I can see the cross hairs. I checked out the new 450 could not see the scopes cross hairs. Not good for hunting.
A bunch of new Xbows and under the the 500 fps mark. Think they should be working on 500 fps plus. Imo it shows that they still haven’t perfected the 500 fps threshold.
There are a bunch of other manufacturers out there who have yet to come close to 500 ft per second, though, so I don't think the pressure is on them yet but we'll see!
The bumper is the crank handle And if you leave it there you will lose it. I have a older stealth 415 It's been the most reliable and accurate bow that I own . I also Have a Nitro 480 And I wish I'd never bought it a big waste of money. If the stringing cables make it past 50 shots they will probably fly of and wreck them anyway. My stealth I can get 2in group at 50 yd the nitro past 30 You be lucky to get a 6" group. I won't use the Nitro for a hunting because it's been so unreliable just shooting it in the yard.
My new Stealth 450 had an obvious quality issue that should've been easily caught during even a rudimentory inspection before it left the factory. I'm disappointed, particularly given the high price.
@Deathbybunjie The rear portion of the polymer arm on top of the trigger box was rubbing against the bolt that connects the scope struts to the scope rail at the top. Every time I'd try to move the trigger box past that point I'd have to push moderately hard with thumb to overcome interference. Could see witness marks where interference was occurring. My wives 450 did not have this issue, fortunately. This is not the end of the world but when I spent $2600 on bow with Burris scope (yes I got one given your praise) then I wouldnt have expected such an obvious flaw, that is actually quite irritating since it's the type of issue you'd experience every time it's shot. If they indeed did test fire the completed bow at the factory then I'm not sure how they didnt catch it prior to shipment. Remember this is an expensive "American made" item , not a Walmart cheepo. By the way, I saw on burris's web page where they replied to a customer with battery drain issues. They indicated that there is a s/w fix available. Fortunately, both burrus oracle x scopes I have are holding charge after couple weeks (so far) so maybe they got the new s/w .
@craigsmith3671 that really is a crazy problem with that crossbow! As for the burris, yes it is a firmware update and I think you have to send it in and now is a good time to do it in the off-season I would think. Pretty cool that that fixes it though
I get that technology comes at a cost, but things are getting out of hand.. leaving all the available tech pretty much out of reach to the average joe. $2200 and up is a joke. I’ll stick with my Excalibur bulldog.. may be a clunker at 400 fps, but at half the price, and bulletproof old school technology, I’m good. JMO
They make different ones for different people that's for sure, a lot of people would tell you 2,200 is way too much, and a lot will tell you a thousand is too much
Hey Rick looks like to me all 10 point is trying to do is catch up with Raven if you look at that crossbow it looks a lot like a raven crossbow to me they don't they can't think outside of the box and they take everybody else's ideas and throw it into their own and then act like that they did something that nobody else has ever done but it looks like a raven to me because like myself I really don't like the reverse draw crossbow it doesn't look right to me I like the crossbow that looks a little more traditional like the 10-point that they've got there so they're trying to compete with the people that like a traditional looking crossbow as well as the reverse crossbow but at the end of the day they're still copying everybody because they can't think outside of the box and do anything on their own I consider them copycats
Yeah but Rick sometimes faster is not always better let's see how long these hold up in my opinion I think 400 ft a second is plenty fast enough and that's really all I need
You’re on top of the game. Great review thank you Rich
100%
Entry level crossbows rock! i got a killer instinct 405 this bow season, and after shooting 14 times to sight in my 15th shot was a clean kill at 40 yards. These 2k$ crossbows and $800 scopes blow my mind, its unnecessary.
In talk about ten point safety I have the 505 and I can make it not click. had a buck at 20 yards and was able to turn the safety off with out alerting the deer. Ittakes practice but it can be done.. on the "bumper" it is the cocking handle its molded in to the frame of the cross bow to store it.
Pretty good setup overall I think
Hunters!
I like these style of review videos. I learned a lot from just this one review. Great idea 👌 more please. Thanks Ken
Thanks for this, great stuff! Good luck out there!
I agree the range finding scope is the way of the future. As is faster crossbows. Neither of which make you a better hunter. Rich, it is the skills we learned toting around our axioms that made us better crossbow hunters.
Indeed!
Rich and Jason,
Agree 100%!
Yes rich I have the wicked ridge nxt400 by ten point. If you hold the safety lever and move it slowly it will not make noise.
Thanks!
Thanks I love your comments there the truth. We need that out there so we know what to buy.
I have a 10 point xrt 470 and a nitro 470. The safeties do click but not loud and never been an issue for me while hunting. Also I just received a Burris oracle for Christmas and can’t wait to get it sighted in.
Awesome good luck!
Awesome, thanks for this and congratulations!
I think you and I think alike as to Arrow length and hand placement, good to hear about the safety, thanks and good luck out there!
Keep it up!
I like that Wrath, good to hear it's working for you!
In order for ten point to increase their FPS they had to relocate the bow string on the opposite side of the cam, increasing the draw length, like scorpyd does, and like missions crossbows does.
Great job and video learning more and more.
I love this 😀 great stuff thanks for watching!
Rich and Bunji fans,
I used a TenPoint Vengent 440 this year and scored 3 deer with it (one small 7 point buck and two does). It's an awesome xbow, and I love TenPoint
I've used the Vengent, Titan Extreme, and Titan M1, so I'm a big fan of TenPoint.
Good stuff, good to hear, I'm glad you got that fixed. Good luck out there!
Both my Tenpoint Titan SS and Siege 410 can be switched to fire with no to little noise if you ease it forward.
Now that's good to hear, thank you
Just stumbled on your site, thanks! Blessings
I totally get that! My next video talks about a cheaper model, stay tuned. Maybe not $300 though LOL
You can ease the saftey and it doesn't make noise, at least that is the case with my older Tenpoint Titan Extreme.
Good to hear, thank you!
Sorry to hear that, but I totally get it, stuff like that sticks with you
I can definitely relate to the Murphies law aspect of lowering your crossbow
I must say the Accuslide crank system produced by TenPoint is at a different level than most all other cranks. Easy, safe and quiet.
TenPoint safety is extremely quiet.
That's what I hear, over and over, it's a great crank system!
Love your channel! Learned a lot when comes to my crossbow. I also got the Oracle scope. Takes guessing out of equation when comes to range. I have the Wickedridge 4X by 10 point. The safety if released quickly will make an audible click. If go slow will release w no audible sound.
Good to hear, you just have to finesse it LOL hope you like that scope!
That looks pretty close to a ravin, I will say ten point customer service is a lot better than ravins
There's people shooting 300 feet per second to say the same thing, to each his own I guess
If they are cracked or look deformed do not shoot them. love my
Tenpoint. Always accurate.
That's interesting thanks for this! Good luck out there!
Great video Rich! I'm liking the looks of the Stealth! 😁
I'm thinking you're a 505 guy 😆
I stand corrected, you are, in fact, a turbo guy LOL but I still think you should try that nitro!
@@Deathbybunjie You just want me to get a 505 so you can come shoot it before you buy one lol.
@@one-eyedarcher that sounds like a plan LOL
the scope rail is 1.5'' longer on the new tenpoint flatline 460 thats why the extra support.
My Tenpoint Turbo M1 is going on 3000+ shots with all original parts on from day 1. I'll change strings and cables next season. But I think I'm ready to try one of their newer reverse draw crossbows. You need to just go ahead and get yourself a Flatline 460!
That's great to hear, I do like that 460
@@Deathbybunjie I can see you with one! When you do get one, buy your AR tags and come hunt down here! Archery goes til end of February here.
, and I do prefer a forward draw bowl simply because I am 62 and a longer bowl with a longer stock is more accurate for me .
I would need to take out a loan to afford that cross bow
You and me both!
Two stage triggers are generally preferred in centerfire rifle competition. Not always, but often. There are however, some very fine single stage.
Yep and I'm not a competitive shooter lol
That`s interesting but as far as a Cocker goes, I need one. I don`t have the strength to pull it back. Enjoyed it Rich
I totally understand that
Iv been considering this model iv been back and for on this or the 460
Ravin R29X was the first 450fps forward xbow
I think ten point emphasizes cocked width over uncocked, because uncocked is narrower than legal width in states like NY.
Yes that is the winch handle stored in the bottom of the stock. Convenient but the knob on the handle sometimes rattles. Not ideal.
Lol cut off the first part of my comment. I have the vengean 440 it moves a hunting bolt at 400 ft./s which is sufficient
In regards to Tenpoint’s i read that some models had issues with either string or arrow rubbing on one side of the rail quite significantly and people were rightfully returning them. I wonder what that problem was about? It also might have been one or two models only. Hope you good luck today
Interesting, I wonder if that new rail addresses that. I saw some deer today but I think they smelled my hot chocolate LOL don't ask haha
Do you really need warp speed if you are taking ethically ranged shots and not trying to shoot 60+ yards keep my shots at 20-25
Funny how ethical shots are under 60 yards now? I remember when they were under 20 yards. It seems it is a moving Target of sorts LOL
@@Deathbybunjie read my post again please.
@@Deathbybunjie I edit my last statement lol
That sounds good to me!
@@Deathbybunjie That is what was running though my mind. Your video's always gets me thinking.
On my older ten point titan the safety will click if you flick it but if I grab it with 2 fingers and slide it there is no noticeable click
That's great to hear, very similar to my Excalibur and scorpyd crossbows
Did Tenpoint bought back Horton many years ago to get their reverse draw tech?
That is my understanding
Oh yeah I can ease the safety on my t 440 quietly , by the way, there really is no difference between that bowl and the vengeant for Florida other than they’re calling that a 450 possibly re-packaging an existing model ?
Yep I think they're just updating speeds, really, and scope mounts...upping speed of their whole line
I’m sad to say that I’m constantly seeing problems with many new Ravin models. My early model R10 is going strong with no issues. What’s the change?
R10 is 195 lb draw weight, I think that's a lot of it!
Strangely, I’ve seen a number of newer R10’s also having problems.
@@douglasborgaro6801 well that's no good!
Why do I think that Bungie 4 will be arriving in 2023, prior to the xbow hunting season.....and it's gonna have 10 points too! LOL Great reviews, Rich....always entertaining and informative. I was thinking of upgrading my old Excalibur Exomax (slightly more tricked out version than the OG), and was eyeing a Siege last year, but never pulled the trigger on opening the wallet....but the new Flatline with an OracleX on it has me wondering how I'm gonna hide such a purchase from the "boss" (aka: wife). ;-)
Lol I hear that, you just never know. That flat line is pretty sweet!
@@Deathbybunjie Ain't it just... rather expensive. though. And if you get one, you'll still be supporting Scorpid, if 10P is paying them a royalty for the reverse draw design, so still "in the family" so to speak.
Holly smoking dynamite. Imagine what these new crossbows would have done to Smaug.
Indeed!
I was Dangerously close to buying a viper S400 Tenpoint on sale during Labor day.. until i realized it was only 370 fps with the included bolts. Now i don't know what I want.
Decisions, decisions, good luck out there
On both of my tenpoints if you ease the safety off it doesn’t click.
Good to hear, thank you for this
How can some people see them crossbow scope hairs I have a range master pro on a 410 stealth. I can see the cross hairs. I checked out the new 450 could not see the scopes cross hairs. Not good for hunting.
You and me are on the same page when it comes to those scopes, 100%
That’s bumper at the bottom it the crank handle
A bunch of new Xbows and under the the 500 fps mark. Think they should be working on 500 fps plus. Imo it shows that they still haven’t perfected the 500 fps threshold.
There are a bunch of other manufacturers out there who have yet to come close to 500 ft per second, though, so I don't think the pressure is on them yet but we'll see!
I have a ten point the safety will not click if you ease it forward you can make it virtually silent
The proof will be one you've chronograph one
Yeah that's no good, sorry to hear that
@Deathbybunjie The rear portion of the polymer arm on top of the trigger box was rubbing against the bolt that connects the scope struts to the scope rail at the top.
👍😃😃
the only bar it raises is the price tag..!
😃😆 a good point LOL
it all boils down the to ethical distance to kill deer/ game in the wild . . . consistently and accurate 😜
OK, so it's a Ravin clone, with a few modifications......................... Very similar performance to the R29X, geometry of the R10
Does look like the R10
That buck behind you needs a shiny red nose. 😁
😁 tis the season lol
10point safety is loud very loud
So glad I’m normal 😅lol
I get that technology comes at a cost, but things are getting out of hand.. leaving all the available tech pretty much out of reach to the average joe. $2200 and up is a joke. I’ll stick with my Excalibur bulldog.. may be a clunker at 400 fps, but at half the price, and bulletproof old school technology, I’m good. JMO
They make different ones for different people that's for sure, a lot of people would tell you 2,200 is way too much, and a lot will tell you a thousand is too much
Nice bow, but not paying that much for one. And don think you do to kill a deer. It’s cool but……………
Hey Rick looks like to me all 10 point is trying to do is catch up with Raven if you look at that crossbow it looks a lot like a raven crossbow to me they don't they can't think outside of the box and they take everybody else's ideas and throw it into their own and then act like that they did something that nobody else has ever done but it looks like a raven to me because like myself I really don't like the reverse draw crossbow it doesn't look right to me I like the crossbow that looks a little more traditional like the 10-point that they've got there so they're trying to compete with the people that like a traditional looking crossbow as well as the reverse crossbow but at the end of the day they're still copying everybody because they can't think outside of the box and do anything on their own I consider them copycats
You make some good points, for sure, but I don't think they're trying to catch up with ravin, given that they have a crossbow faster than Ravin LOL
Yeah but Rick sometimes faster is not always better let's see how long these hold up in my opinion I think 400 ft a second is plenty fast enough and that's really all I need
When they start making them inexpensive. We will have new normal. I'd buy 3 killer instinct for less than 1,000 $. 2000 for one.
Hmmmmmmm So why would you use mechanical broad-heads
Big cutting diameter and flies like a field point, it's a no-brainer haha
