    A classic movie, and quite metaphysical one too. The Meditations segment was good listening, and the static after station sign off reminded me of The Outer Limits TV series. Thank you for sharing this with us.

    This was a great watch, well acted, good pace and music. The last scene wow, doesn't get any better.

    The station used this opening into the late 1980s. I recorded an Eastside Kids film on a Saturday afternoon around 1987 with this open.

    I really really really wish that the local networks go back to showing late night movies, especially movies between the silent era to the end of the golden era😃Can you upload a movie 🎥 with the WBBM ch 2 Late show movie bumper from the mid 80s😃😃😃😃😃

      Home video and streaming services, killed the anticipation of finally getting to watch your favorite movie that you haven't seen since it's last airing or since it was in the theaters. I kind of miss those days, scanning the TV Guide and finding out your favorite movie is going to be on Television, you would wait all week and let everyone know in the house, that your movie is coming on, and no one else touch the TV that night! We had a TV that literally took a long time to warm up before a picture would come on, so you would have to turn on the TV 30 minutes early and just stare at a blank screen and get so excited when the picture would finally come on, THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

      Well, it wasn't so much the networks, it was the local affiliate stations, and much more the independent stations. long before they became FOX and THE CW, that would play the great old movies. Local indepedents (as such) don't really exist anymore, sadly.

    Fun fact: According to Wikipedia, future First Lady Nancy Reagan has an uncredited appearance as a teenager in the movie (the very final scene at the museum?).

      @@FuzzyMemoriesTV Only the sign-off sequence was up on your website but not on UA-cam. Nor of course was the entire Movie 5 and ads that transpired along with it. We all never could id the staffer reading the sign-off script either.

    The movie opening is a combination of NBC'S Late Night Movie intro from the early 1980s mixed with the local "Movie 5" intro at the end.

      'NBC LATE NIGHT MOVIE" {1979-'84 opening title}.

      WNBC-TV (channel 4) in NYC would’ve used this intro combing with the intro to “NBC Late Night Movie” and the intro itself where it became “Cinema 4”.

    • @fromthesidelines
      @fromthesidelines 3 роки тому

      I never saw it that way. They always used the same "Cinema 4" opening through the early '80s. But later bumpers featured the instrumental music bed a chorus sang over in 1979-'81 promos {"🎶NBC- Proud As A *PEACOCK* !!! 🎶"}. I think it was a last ditch effort by Fred Silverman to promote the network locally before he resigned in June 1981.

    The 'Movie 5' and 'Saturday Night Movie' graphics were generally the 'house' style of NBC stations; also used on WNBC Channel 4 in New York for 'Cinema 4' starting around 1977-78 (which replaced older titles such as "Movie 4," "The Great Great Show" and "Sunday Night Movie"). Can anyone vouch as to whether that was used by WRC Channel 4 in Washington, DC and/or KNBC Channel 4 in Los Angeles, and also what were the movie skeins of WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland that could have used that graphics package?
    Around this period, this same film was run on occasion in NYC by WPIX Channel 11 on such movie shows as "12:30 Star Movie" and "The Channel 11 Film Festival." One night in 1980 ran this on a Saturday at 8:30 P.M. which was usually when their horror skein, "Chiller," ran.

    1:36:34 - the early 1980's NAB Television Code Seal Of Good Practice Logo. the same logo in the WYTV sign-on/sign-off early 1980's announcement: "High standards of television entertainment benefit everyone. This seal of the Television Code Review Board of the National Association of Broadcasters is a symbol of good television. To see better television, always watch channel 33, a Television Code station."
