    I grew up in Illinois. This is the way I remember the news coming on.

    6:20. The bodies of Tim Hack and Kelly Drew were found in October of 1980. Their murderer, Edward Edwards, a serial killer, was identified and convicted about 2009-2011. He was sentenced to life in prison and to death. He died in prison, of natural cause, in 2011.
    Hack’s father reported them missing on August 10, 1980. On August 15, 1980, investigators found Kelly’s tattered clothes in the road about three miles away from the Concord house. Tim’s body was also found in the same area on August 16, 1980. Over the days that followed, Jefferson County authorities conducted a rigorous search in the state of Wisconsin. The remains of the deceased couple were discovered by two Milwaukee squirrel hunters on October 16, 1980, at the edge of the woods off Hustisford Road in the Town of Ixonia.

      Growing up with chicago news I was traumatized watching all The murders committed almost every night on the 10 o clock news and these reporters stone cold reporting it without emotion, I wish I grew up in a more peaceful area of the planet, what a sick place the Chicago metro is

    I remember the 7 - Up commercial with Sugar Ray Leonard. I haven't seen it since 1980 and it was one of the best commercials of the year.

    $1.99 doesn't get you a 20 oz soda let alone a Panderoza Dinner

      $2.99 just got me a 24 oz Spiked Lemonade. These days we need that extra 5% to soothe the pains of inflation.

    Always a school strike, nowadays they should make them simulcast from their empty classrooms and not from home or their favorite vacation spot

    Re: The Georgia Senate primary runoff. 20 years later would see Zell Miller get his chance at that Senate seat when he was appointed to that seat, which had been vacated by the death of Paul Coverdell, before going on to win the special election to finish the term Coverdell was elected to in 1998 (Miller's opponent: Mack Mattingly, who had defeated Herman Talmadge in the Senate race in 1980)

Fahey Flynn, Told it Like it Was for Chicago News, when I Left Chicago in 69 to L.A. I saw a Different Style for L.A. News, it has its own style & More Hours of News than you Have in Chicago, Mainly because of Chicagos News Comes on Early at 10 due to Central Time Zone & they are Tied in With the Eastern Time Zone & an Hour Behind the Central Time Zone & they Get National News, Sports, & Specials Live.

    When did we change the spelling of ketchup to catsup?

    • @wmbrown6
      @wmbrown6 3 роки тому +2

      Who knows? Maybe Del Monte thought the "ketchup" spelling was trademarked by Heinz or something.

    Anyone notice on Dennis Cunningham's report on Gower Champion, how the CG font (characterized by Chyron as Bolt Medium, but clearly a square typeface created by CBS) had shadows as opposed to the outline on WBBM's CG's? Shadows were how such graphics were presented on WCBS's newscasts (then anchored at 6pm by Jim Jensen and Rolland Smith, and at 11pm by Smith and Michele Marsh).
    Incidentally, the fonts used in those days by both WCBS and WBBM - and definitely then-KNXT in Los Angeles - were called Bolt Medium (the bolder one) and Bolt Medium Light (the smaller, lighter one) by Chyron, this from:
