    Yoo, I used to train at China National training center for table tennis for 1 month.
    What you see here is really only a scratch of what their training looks like. Talented kids move to this center at the age of 6 from that on they train every day 6 hours! The pros training is even more intense and includes also weightlifting and even longer training when there is an important tournament upcoming or if they lost to a foreigner.
    I really doubt there are many other sports where people train as much as Chinese do in table tennis

  • @dviviers9126

    All the extra physical training they put in, is surely what sets them apart from the rest of the field of world players

    • @viborrr
      @viborrr 8 років тому +30

      Table tennis is the No 1 recreational sport in China. They have a bigger talent pool to draw from then the rest of the world combined - that's what sets them apart. Physical training by itself doesn't set any sportsperson apart, being super fit is more or less mandatory in modern sport

      @@JohnMisdreavous a lot of people in the US think that tapping the ball with their premade rackets with no sponge and using any ball is table tennis so pretty much the entire continent of America doesnt think its a sport. I mean look at their atletes, all asians, lily zhang, kanak jha. I will say north america is a bit better tho.

    • @namnam2701
      @namnam2701 9 років тому +4

      +claysbar mt : They have the 6 pack because they worked out to improve at Table tennis. You can't have a decent 6 pack just by playing table tennis. I'm not trying to be just cynical, it's important that people know that. 7 people liked your comment so I hope they are not all deluded ...

    • @takitezy7
      @takitezy7 8 років тому

      +NamNam I dont work out at all (but soon will) and all I do is play table tennis, and I already have a 6 pack. Ok im lying its a 4 pack.

    • @namnam2701
      @namnam2701 8 років тому +1

      takitezy7
      : Some people naturally have a 6 pack so yeah it's a bit exaggerated. Een when I stopped sport and did absolutely nothing I had a decent 6 packs I think. But a nice 6 packs like in movies ... Impossible.
      The point is just that you won't get ripped by playing. You need to carry big weights regularily to take bigger muscles, not carry little weights at an irregular frequency (like your racket when playing). Ping-pong will make your muscles more dynamic, durable, and thin, but won't make you much stronger.
      Actually you could be content with that. Girls always like a fit balanced guy, big muscles is a bonus.
      It's normal when you do any sport to have better looking abs, arms and legs. But it's more because you are "fit" than "muscled". The fat disappear and you end up seeing the muscles underneath your skin that you couldn't see before.

    weight training is good for obtaining power. Most of the other stuff you saw was to train reflexes as well as flexibility and speed. So it's not as important, but still significant.

    • @z0uLess
      @z0uLess 2 роки тому

      variation in training makes you able to withstand all the hours needed to practice what you are supposed to be good at ... so you have to do all kinds of physical exercise that does not improve your table tennis directly in order so your body can absorb the demanding specific training for table tennis.

    想起小时候在地方队里练习的样子了,虽然那时才1,2年级不用做负重和一些平衡训练,但左推右挡滑步等等这些基本型训练有时一连半小时,之后就开始教练拿着一篮子球在球台一半的地方给你发球,打完一筐去捡球然后回来再打。真的感觉苦累什么的都没问题,但就是那个拿着篮子去捡球爆炸般的无聊!

    This shows how hard they training on physical, but actually the most important aspect is the touch of ball, the spinning, the controlling. If you play with a professionally player probably you can barely hit the ball back to table.

  • @LightSpeed99999

    A lot of the training that is done is making sure their form is correct. Good form prevents injury and there's a lot of resting and (probably) dietary stuff going on that's not in this video that is just as important as the physical exertion.
