    Converting backspin with the backhand looks awkward. Almost like the torso is rocked back and forth. I would think there should be more of a rotation of the waist and arms.

      i think his backhand lift is godly, it uses both the wrist, arms as well as the torso to create such a powerful loop.

    • @janvoss5548
      @janvoss5548 4 роки тому +1

      It was the same for me. But then I wached it with half the speed and realized that his torso isn't going back and forth a lot. It is mainly going down (you can see that by the bending of his legs) and back up during the stroke to accelerate and get more topspin into the coming ball (which is coming with backspin). To resume: By bending his legs (and with them his torso) down he can use his whole body to create a lot of accelaration and convert it into the stroke. That leads to more powerfull strokes and gives him the opportunity to play faster backhand topspins even if the upcoming ball is coing at him with backspin (as it is in the exercices shown in the video)
      But I as well watched out for the movement of the arm and especially the wrist. And when watching the video with half the speed I realized that he does it. You just do not really recognise it, because he does it so fast that it is barely noticable while watching at full speed. I hope you understand what I want to say. I know your comment is a year old, but I would appreciate it if you would reply to my answer :)

    Those backhands are so unnatural and awkward. But everybody's doing them, so it must be good, right? WRONG!
