I love this mic but it's got crackly and weird recently (I guess it is 20 years old!). I found a cheap capsule replacement and I'll see if it makes it any better.
I think Mr Carlson's Lab has shown old paper caps (and/or resistors) that produce that sort of crackly distortion on his old valve radio renovations - as a reason why he (almost) always re-caps anything he opens. The electrolytics have the same spiral construction - so maybe they suffer from the same intermittent breakdown as they deteriorate. Even if they appear close to the correct capacitance - they can still have internal problems. Hopefully, swapping them out will fix the issue.
Great video once again, many thanks.
Thanks for posting this video.

thanks Seb, i was gonna try to fix my NT2, but I think if you couldnt I might just buy a new NT1. You saved me $100
I have a similar issue with a Studio Projects mic. Have you managed to figure out what the problem was with yours? Thanks!
Can it be a grounding problem ? You can check it with multi-meter.
When i hold the mic in m y hand .i have same issue.try to check the xlr
