Rode NT2-A Mic Review / Test
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 лип 2024
- Today we’re looking at the Rode NT2a, a very popular multi pattern, large diaphragm condenser microphone. This mic offers a very detailed and articulate sound, with a pleasing and smooth mid range. The mic is very unforgiving if you’re in a poorly treated room or have lots of background noise.

The treated vs. untreated room test is a useful addition.
RIGHT?!
Love that he is making mic review interesting and not the same thing over and over again.
Thanks so much Frostum!
Look at many reviews of this microphone, and your review is by far the best I've ever seen, you touched all the points of interest, thank you very much !!
My favourite channel...who knew microphones reviews could be so enjoyable and informative. I've also got a 1998 Rode NT2 on its way out so this is an invaluable video, thanks!
I bought a Rode M2 because of your earlier review of it (and others). I'm not even in the market for a microphone, but I still watch every one of your reviews.
Your problem is that you can't stop buying microphones but we really can't stop coming back to your channel and keep watching all of your old and new videos. Seriously, awesome work, if it weren't for you, the love of searching for the best audio (microphone and/or interface) wouldn't be a thing at all. The time and efforts you put into your videos to deliver all the details and your honest thoughts about everything you review is greatly appreciated. Loved all the jokes on this one. Thanks a lot man!
LIGHTNING BOLT
Bruu I screamed of laughter lmao
I'M OUT OF MANA
NO WAY YOU WERE THE LIGHTNING BOLT GUY THIS WHOLE TIME?
... this explains a lot
Wheres episo.. lmfao I'm jk 😂 cool seeing u hear! Love ur work!
I picked up this mic a year ago it's amazing. I get a lot of compliments on my acoustic guitar sound in particular
Yes you have to test them all. I love your tests.
Great review! Anytime I'm looking for a new mic, I always go to your channel.
Rode is building some future classics. The NTG3 comes to mind. They are correctly priced, too. I predict many, though not all, of their microphones will appreciate in value as time goes by.
Nice! Great video as always. Thank you Bandrew. Love from Venezuela.
I dont actually watch many of your reviews anymore but im glad i tuned in, you seem like you're having a lot of fun with it and you still provide fantastic reviews. Keep up the great work man, I will be dropping by more frequently again :D
Thanks man. Really appreciate that. I’m trying to goof off a bit more and have some more fun and personality in the videos.
This is my favourite mic, thanks!!!!
Great review. Just purchased this mic and can’t wait to hear the magic 🪄
Dude, I don't too much care about microphones but this review and the yeti review are fantastic ASMR, that's literally why I watch it
Keep buying them 😂, honestly love your videos thanks for all the great content. I'm just an audiophile and not a producer or anything but you got me into audio and have loved it since. Thanks :)
bro i just wanna say i literally rarely do this but you do a grab job in comparison videos you are greatly appreciated
great
Great review as always! Best reviews on UA-cam IMO.
Your review is what sold me on the Rode NT-1. Great mic!
Thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️ really happy to hear the videos helped make an informed decision.
Good test! I use the NT 2a together with the (black) NT 1000 in the MS mode: NT 1000 in front and the NT 2A upside down above it in figure 8 mode. Perfect stereo sound with my Tascam dr 100 in MS DECODE mode you can hear the stereo expanding perfectly.
WOW, this review was sooo good. It was so detailted and you showed so many diffrent things.
Thank you, greetings from Germany.
Thank you so much. Really happy to help. 👍🏻
the song was actually really good. Got my NTA2 yesterday. Thanks for the review!
Awesome review! Thanks for adding me to your featured channels, I really appreciate that!
Thanks very much for the kind words. And You got it man. Keep it up!
@@Podcastage Thank you so much! That really means a lot!
Nice review Bandrew!
Thanks to your reviews/ recommendations my friend and I have a good audio setup and we're just starting to record videos properly.
Keep up the good work.
Congrats on the setup! Best of luck with the videos. Have fun!
Thank you for putting so much thought, time and effort into your videos ❤
I'm glad Cal's Chuchesta cousin come into your house. I can't wait for some music albums made with him :3
Bravo for the quality of your test ! thanks
Yes! Voted for this review to happen. Thanks
Took me a while to get around to it, but I finally did. Thank you for voting on the poll. =)
I love the zing that’s in this mic review!
Made Cheryl's dog bark with that box throw, lol.
Really nice sounding mic.
You should do a ranking series where u rank the audio gear that you've reviewed and reasons why
What a review mate!!👌🏻👌🏻
Great review. You made it interesting.Well done!
I see this mic doing its job in a correct way for me, very versatile and well-calibrated, it's a winner for the price. THANKS, MY FRIEND!!!
My pleasure.
I think it sounds quite nice. Your comparisons are well done and well-thought-out; thank you. I'm a fan of the NT1, although after hearing the NT2-A, I'm wondering if it might be the best of both worlds. Hrm. Either way, like yourself, I buy more microphones than I ever actually intend to use. If I could only ever have one microphone, it would probably be just a $30 lav mic, lol.
You are amazing good sir!!!
Thanks for the review!!!
I see a Neumann U87 in the background. Gonna be a great review.
What a fabulous review! Thanks
great test! The song part made my day:))
QUESTION: U always do a fantastic job analysing all those microphones. What would u chose between the Nt2a and the wa 87?? I’m a singer in a music university. It’s mostly for recording my voice, but also any sources. I had a c414 xl II and found it a little bit agressive in the high frequencies. 😅
I think this one and the NT1 are the best Rode condenser mics from the company. The NT2-A is very versatile and the NT1 is such a standout smooth boy. I own the NT1 and it's just so natural sounding and smooth.
Fun fact: The original Rode NT2 looked so much like a Neumann U87 that Neuman sued them and forced them to change the design. Neumann has recently done the same to Warm Audio, now the WA87 R2 looks like a Behringer mic
Hello, very good, thanks for your videos, I have a great doubt to buy a mic and I see that you have experience in these ... nt1 (black) vs nt2a ... I do not care about the polar patterns, I will only use cardioid, but strictly adjusting to the sound quality which you see best
Dont think I`ve commented before but I have watch many of your videos and Imma big fan. There is another person on UA-cam copying your style almost to a T. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say.
Thanks so much Dan. I think I know who you’re talking about and it’s no big deal. It’s good that someone else is doing the same tests. More different opinions for people to pull from when researching their next purchase.
Incredibly informative. Thank you 🙏🏾
The acoustic guitar reminded me of 80s pop XD it was good i liked it, i have the NT1-A and now i want the NT2-A but considering my room (even my house) is noisy a lot of the times i will have to pic this mic up when i have a better workspace, also loved the singing.
Most Entertaining Reviews Always ... 👍👍👍👍
Great review!
All your videos are great! Do you mind to review Apogee hypemic into your collections? Or/and compare the Apogee hypemic to Irig Mic Studio and Shure MV51? Many thanks!
Bandrew is a LARPer at heart.;) Another awesome review and your singing is always pleasant. KEEP BUYING MICS BECAUSE I WILL KEEP SUPPORTING, lololololol. Don't go overboard, man. We don't want you going bankrupt.
Nice video. Sir, Can you suggest me a microphone in this budget that rejects back ground noise. I am looking one for recording Classical guitar. and my rented apartment is not acoustically treated. I already have a Behringer B2 pro Mic which I bought second hand (used). Good for steel string, but not great for classical guitar.
love the sound of this one
Great review bro
Great review. Love your humor and to the point review.
Thanks so much Dave, I really appreciate that.
Thanks For This Helpful Video I Think This Mic Have Very Good Performance
What mic stand/boom arm floor stand are you using in your video's looks perfect for small areas.. Love all your reviews by the way :)
@podcastage if u had to pick between the NT-1(black) and NT-1a(silver) for recording rap vocals for home studio, which would u pick?
Hello, I hope you can answer me. with which you would stay between the at4040 and the nt2a. by the way your videos are great
Just bought one, very happy.
I actually considered picking this up back in 2011, but I got the NT1-A instead. The 2-A definitely sounds a lot more premium.
Nice video! Would like to see comparison between NT2-A and NT2000, those are pretty simmilar feature-wise but not so price-wise, Iam just curious about the actual difference between these two,
Have a nice day!
I’m justifying you buying them because I don’t have the money to 😂
Your work is the work of legends to the recording community
You are a beautiful if somewhat unique mind. We applaud you sir. And yes the NT2a is the Swiss army knife of medium wallet sizes. 👍
what was the boom arm used here, cause i have an articulate arm in my room but the mic and shock mount are heavy and it keeps lowering down, any suggestions? thanks!
Huge thanks for the vid !
The 360 degree test seemed to show good background rejection in cardioid mode, but you said it's not good at rejection in the Cons section. Were you in cardioid mode for the Background Noise Test? Does the NT1 reject background noise better? thank you!
Subbed, well done good sir!
If sold at the same price, and used mainly for vocals (and some sampling), which would you choose between a Lewitt 440 Pure and a Rode NT2-A?
I have this rode and my problem is that the filter got a hole in the first part of its double but the other one is intact tho. i dont know how it happened but i guess its a cigaratte burn. Will that affect my recording?
7:38 best song ever heard😅
All of the mics is what I need 😅😅😅
for recoding rap vocals would you suggest to have any of the hi pass filters on ? 40 or 80?
will i need more treated room than other microphones for this one if i am using it in just cardioid mode
You’re show is awesome. ⚡️!
Need your advice and pls respond, I live in a noisy place and confused which microphone to use which doesn’t records noisy stuff surrounded. Does Rode NT2A reduce the Fan and other disturbing voices while recording?
about the distance for an omnidirectional recording, which one you think it is better? SE ELECTRONICS SE 2300 or RODE NT2A? thank you
Can I know what that electric guitar is called at 7:00, I was looking everywhere for the sound, I just don't know what the name is as there are many varieties of electric guitars. As you might know from the question that I am a novice, will appreciate your input, thankyou
Great Review ✅
Great review
Hey man, quick and maybe stupid question, for a metal guitarist and singer ////bedroom- hobby level//////what mic would be the bare cheapest option that does the job decent enough to not make me regret buying it ? :D
Mic emulation is new way to have all the microphones with just one special microphone which acts like a interface for all the emulations. Maybe not for everyone as not the real microphones but for some it may be worth it for getting different results.
hi,May I ask if this can be connected to v8 ?if so, how do you call the adaptor that works for both ends?TIA
Is there any other mic that would recommend over this in the same price range for vocals?
Gotta love them stickers.
The mucic break made me sub lol
Thank for your efforts
Thanks a lot for all reviews. Could you please advise us about RODE NT 2000, NTK and K2. Thank you very much
Would you use this mic to record a conversation. a person on each side?
Sounds excellent for you.
The Bible Project channel use these for their content. Sounds really good
I have the NT1 and use it for voice over, mainly for long-form projects like audiobooks/narration. But the NT2-A seems to have a little more personality for lower voices with the smoother air frequencies (better than the NT1-A) and clearer, more stable sounding lows.
The NT1 is a great mic but it doesn’t quite have the “ass” that the NT2-A can produce.
Which you prefer a singer nt1 or nt2a or nt1a???
if we have a reflection shield thingy will it be fine? or does that not help with the room
I own one when it came out first and never look back 🇨🇦👍
U are really good. Very good presentation.
@podcastage What are the mic settings that you personally use for recording. It sounds very nice.
Thank you very much for the video.
What is the best setting to have this microphone on for a rapper in a untreated room. can you tell me please?? or somebody in the comments section. thanks a lot in advance!
Which mic is better for vocal recording the lewitt 440 pure or the rode nt1a ??
i know this might be a long shot, but could you give an opinion on the NT 2A vs the TLM 102. Im not entirely sure the price difference, with the shockmount, is worth it. (I am an Independent Producer and Artist with a home studio). You would help me immensely. Thanks anyway, and love your content.
