I am 73 and from New Orleans, Louisiana USA. My 2nd generation Sicilian grandmother made this when I was a child except she only used olive oil, garlic and parsley. No pepper that I can remember but that was long ago. I make it like that today. Maybe she used spaghetti water too. I will try it the next time I make it. Thanks for a great video.
@randyc5650 This is the "aglio-olio" nothing more. No French chef involved.
My Greek grandmother used to take left over spaghetti and fry it in butter and serve us. To this day, I have never, ever tasted spaghetti so wonderful. I make it all the time for my children. Fried spaghetti is the best kind of spaghetti to have.
My mom who is Sicilian made this regularly. We wouldn’t brown the garlic though, just gently infuse it and use chili flakes instead of hot sauce. The starch water isn’t really a thing to do, however it does make a delicious creamy result.
Whether it’s made this way or my mama’s way…. It’s delicious comfort food. Nom nom nom.
When I make lasagna I don’t boil the noodles. I just place them in the pan and the saucy sauce just cooks them to perfection.
@@Agapy8888 yes, agreed. 😊
Lasagna Is not spaghetti . Spaghetti Need to be cooked in boiling water. Trust me i am italian from italy😊
🎉
Every one do it their own way.
Simple food is the best food IMHO.
I tried it. Pasta dishes are difficult for me, but this was very easy to cook You can also change it slightly and use other cheese or add some avocado. It was delicious. I just had to add a little salt.
Greetings from Germany
Greetings from San Diego, CA USA. Spaghetti looks scrumptiously good! Thank you for sharing your video.
Looks wonderful.Thank you for taking the time to make this dish and show us your technique.I am from Nashville Tennesse.
Thank you for no talking and beautiful music.❤
She cant talk because she's German !
I would add the "pasta water" before any parmesan to simplify completion of the cooking.
The parmesan - I would sprinkle on after plating.
I hope to try this soon substituting tarragon in place of the parsley.
OMG your food videos are so delicious! (no pun intended- smile). I love the close-up shots, the beautiful music, and there is nothing better than watching butter and cheese melting into a fabulously tasty dream with pasta! Yum!!!!!
Southern New Mexico here...another fabulous presentation and your music, as always, divine!
I visited a local Greek family restaurant for lunch and asked for the "pasta of the day." It was made in a similar way but with sliced onion in lieu of garlic and sans the hot sauce/pepper flakes. It was surprisingly simple and delicious! Cheers!
I don’t like garlic so your suggestion is one I’ll use. Thank you.
@@user-su4yn7hh7iCool. Saute the onions until they start to brown. Add some parmesan cheese if you like because, well, it's parmesan!
Watching from The Gambia, West Africa
You have to wait for the water to come to a rolling boil before putting the pasta in the pot
You're right
Some people don’t boil first. I saw it on American test kitchen recently. I didn’t know.
And those people are doing it wrong.
Looked like it came out all right to me
I have seen an Italian dish made with only 4 of these ingredients: EVOO, garlic, spaghetti, and red pepper flakes. It is called spaghetti aglio e olio. I have also seen many additions such as parmesan cheese, halved cherry tomatoes, sautéed bell peppers, and more. Using the pasta water is also a part of the recipe. I do not use red pepper flakes, but DO add bell peppers and parmesan cheese. It is a favorite dish of mine. Thank you for the video.
I thought of spaghetti aglio e olio too. I grow Italian parsley in my kitchen garden just to make it!

Hallo!
I also use sweet chilli sauce. This dish is fantastic with fresh crusty bread.
Don't want to admit forgot a lot of my German, my mum was a Berliner. Lovely comfort food have been trying to be vegan for some time but ... sometimes it's a delicious recipe. Love from Toronto, ON, CA.
I forgot my German also. From Frankfurt to California age 5

Merci !
This is how I make spaghetti, but did not add as much butter. Very important to salt the water the dry spaghetti is cooked in. I’m going to try this recipe. Thank you. Writing from Sacramento, California, USA
Looks delicious! I remember eating spaghetti with some butter and salt and pepper and it was great. Nice and simple. This seems to be better. From Livonia, Michigan USA.
I'm salivating thinking of different protein preparations to eat with this. Thanks!
Due to amount of cheese It's the main dish.
Tuna or chicken is delicious

Simple and elegant, regards from Lake Conroe in southeast Texas.
Greetings from Adelaide South Australia. Nice, simple recipe. Perhaps refrain from putting pasta into cold water; bring water to the boil first.
Wow! This looks like the ULTIMATE comfort food! 🤤 😋
I like how the garlic was imparted into the pasta. I gotta try that style.
Greetings from Austria/Vienna. We love it.
I make this but have never added hot sauce. I love the idea and will make it your way the next time. Thank you for the recipe!
We're watching this from Canada - Saskatchewan. Looks good for a winter day. Thanks.

Hello, I'm from Osaka, Japan.
This was a very appetizing recipe😂
I feel happy just looking at it, thank you
Beautiful video/music/calm presentation. I've made this dish dozens of times and continue to learn new things. My preferance would be to reserve the grated cheese for a topping after the plate is on the table If the chesse melts into the dish then it could become more like a casserole While cooking I might sneak in an anchovie or two when no one is looking. Another option is to add the partially cooked pasta to the sauce then after a bit add enough pasta water to finish cookin the pasta. Your excellent recipe presents new possibilities.
I'm watching from a city called Novi. It's located in the State of Michigan in the USA. Thank you for this video! 💯🍝

Howdy from Houston Texas USA! Enjoying your video!
Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Great recipe.
I know this well, it's a peasant dish from Italy too. If you're on a budget this is ace. It's amazing as it is but you can add whatever you want to it also, broccoli, halved cherry tomatoes, anchovies...
Food - the international language! 😊
San Francisco watching. You make the most delicious recipes! Schmekt!
I'm watching your recipe from the Peak District in the United Kingdom 😊 Many thanks. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I must admit your recipe is delicious. My children request this continually so we have it 3 times a week. However my kids love garlic so much I always have to ad extra so when I make mine I'm putting at least 10 cloves of fresh minced garlic. We are from Hampton, Commonwealth of Virginia. A perfecto dinner !
this recipe is based on a italien dish called "spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncini", but i think no italian would do it like that :D
Probably not. I would though
Aglio olio e peperoncino piccante...
This "recipe" is good for learn how to kill spaghetti

Soy de Argentina!!
Lo voy a hacer,debe ser exquisito !!
Gracias!!🙌
I’ve made the same for years but instead of hot sauce I use a bit of chili flakes and add a few dabs of anchovy paste. I don’t brown the garlic as much as I find it sweetens it more than I like and makes it too chewy. Also I use less cheese (about 1/3rd of what I see here) and I’m not a parsley fan myself. But simple garlic/olive oil pasta is a classic with some minor twists as each sees fit. Great simple dish!
I AM FROM NEW IBERIA, LOUISIANA AND HAVE BEEN A PASTA LOVER ALL OF MY ADULT LIFE, AND I HOPE TO TRY THIS RECIPE. I MIGHT CUT DOWN ON THE HOT SAUCE, THOUGH.
I have to say I doubt the an "old chef" used any kind of hot sauce (unless they re in Louisiana of course). The chili flakes yes but the bottled hot sauce gaK! But hey it is a free country, please feel free to do any thing that make you feel good. 🥳
From philadelphia, pennsylvania und es schmecht so gut.
Yummy! I'll veganize it by switching butter with margarine and regular parmesan with vegan parmesan. Thank you!💞🙏
Love the clean simplicity. ❤❤
Ich bin Japaner. Ich möchte dieses Gericht zubereiten.
Beautiful, simple home cooking and Michelin standard food for only 4 euros…fantastic.
My Italian grandmothers made this and my parents as well as myself- my children make it however we never used hot sauce especially if serving this to children- parsley should also be sautéed with the garlic- makes a big difference
In taste.

Im in southern in Mexico but from NYC ....my Italian family would be proud of such a simple tasty healthy dish. ❤
WHAT?!?!😂
spaghetti with butter, garlic and cheese... some green stuff for taste and decoration
so healthy haha
Skip the hot sauce and you have true Alfredo sauce. And chop the garlic smaller. True Alfredo has no milk or cream. It’s made by emulsifying melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic, salt, pepper and pasta water until a beautiful silky sauce is created. Toss in the pasta and top with more Parmesan.
“True Alfredo” doesn’t have garlic either, or pepper
Keep it simple….brilliant. Going to try this tomorrow.
Watching from Atlanta, GA! This looks easy and delicious. ♥️
Love the music while cooking. This is Heaven on Earth. We need many examples of this type of sharing love.
It looks delicious! If it wasn’t 10 pm, I’d be fixing some! Yum.
Bravo, it makes my mouth water, Looks absolutely delicious.
We have a similar family pasta dish, minus the hot sauce and chili flakes, adding oregano and black pepper instead. The cheese is put on the table, allowing each diner to use the amount they want, if any. As several family members have recently gone vegan, this is useful, but we make a butter-free batch for them, replacing it with more olive oil. We also chop/mince the garlic much finer and don’t let it brown. The fresh parsley is essential, but go light, too much can overwhelm a dish and what’s used here is a lot. We love this sauce with fine spaghetti or linguine.
I'm from the USA....easy recipe..
I would add a little olive oil to it also.
I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I love pasta. Will be making this recipe. Thank you
Me too, also in Abq
That looks absolutely delicious! Love from the USA 🇺🇸.
It’s so easy! And looks wonderful, thank you!
😂 That's called Spaghetti alla Aglio e Olio... one of the simplest and most practical ways to consume pasta. 🍜
A variant would be without butter and with peperoncino.

We are out in the English countryside, near Stonehenge.
I shall be cooking this for my wife this evening.
Thank you for the wonderful recipe.
Skip the hot sauce and it's one of the oldest Italian recipes.
Made this and it is delicious! Will definitely be making again! Thanks for the recipe😊
Wait for the water to boil before shoving the noodles in.
I brought the water to a boil and added the spaghetti, but when I turn on the camera and start recording, I reduce the heat slightly to prevent the water from splashing out of the pot. You understand that when filming cooking videos, you have to use some tricks 🙂
Why? I've made pasta with and without the water boiling and it makes no difference at all.
Thank you from Australia.
