I can highly recommend using a lashing and jacking up the wheel hub if you want to get the ball joint back into the lower arm. It pulls the shock absorber back in place and reduces the angle of the ball joint to the lower arm. Otherwise you can be busy for hours and hours, getting absolutely nowhere. It looks so simple on the video, but I just finished the job, took me 2 days fighting with the lower arm before it was back in place. Finally the lashing got it done in 10 min.
I've just started this, and I've had to stop because I ended up with the shock pulling away from the body of the car, which pulled the driveshaft out of the gearbox and has dumped it's oil.
Spot on advice, small set of spring compressors on the strut to take up the excess extension of the strut makes it easier to replace the ball joint and prevents the drive shaft from being pulled out of the gearbox .... (in my limited experience)..
It is very straightforward on the R/H side as the driveshaft has an intermediate bearing which prevents the shaft from falling out of the gearbox, I learned the hard way (on the L/H side) like CableWrestler !
before tightening the screws of the new arm it‘s recommended to use a hydraulic jack underneath the brake rotor and lift the wheelhub to the neutral position, which can be determined ahead of time, while the wheel is still on, by measuring the distance of the wheelcenter to the fenderframing of the wheelhouse. Tightening in neutral will make the bearings relax most of the time when the suspension is in neutral and thus minimize wear.
muito bom tirou minha duvida. ontem apanhei pra trocar um lado mas nesse video vc mostrou que nao é tao difícil assim. Hoje mesmo vou trocar o outro lado. thank you very much
Great video, have changed one before but this time my drive shaft has dropped out, it will slide back in but everytime I put pressure on the control arm to get the ball joint in it comes out again, what have done wrong, have been struggling now for days and now losing hope. Help.
My mechanic said the lower arm is broken. I also feel my riding comfort reduced a bit. So, is that because of the lower arm? I was told to change the entire suspension though. Thanks!
hallo there! can i raise my peugeot 307 sw 2007 diesel some cantimeters with longer springs?? or can i put some spacers at suspension rear and front?? i want moore ground clearence...
Are you a professional mechanic or a DIYer. Reason I ask is that you have just about damaged every thread you had to undo. Ever heard of using a softer material than you are impacting ??? also that is a ball joint splitter not a pry bar so why not learn how to use the tools. Your knowledge of what to do is accurate but if you are typical of what we pay garages £60 per hour labour for in local garages then god knows what we are training our apprentices this day and age.
I am inclined to agree, as even refitting a nut to a threaded shaft provides some protection to the thread before hitting with a hammer. Otherwise, a nice video and a decent repair.
I was about to write the exact same thing then noticed your post. It can be replaced without removing the tie rod too. If you notice before he takes the ball joint off there is a metal ball joint dust cover which im guessing is why he levered it off
remove the ball joint after you've done the bolts on the wishbone, swivel the wishbone round then use a hammer on the wishbone to get it out the ball joint 😃
just use any strong piece of steel, I used to have a 4ft pole flattened at one end makes it so much easier. The one he used for getting the ball joint off is called a ball joint slitter and you use it by aligning the shaft between the 2 prongs and hitting it with a hammer not as a lever like in the video. However after watching again I believe he uses it like that so he doesnt destroy the ball joint dust cover www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Fork-Car-Ball-Joint-Seperator-Separator-Splitter-Tool-Tie-Rod-End-Lifter-/222404326887?hash=item33c854b5e7:g:E8cAAOSwh2xYAkly
My mot on my Peugeot 208 2014, said advisories: Suspension arm pin, or bush worn nearside front, so i took it in to be repaired, and on invoice says product suspension arm, and labour to replace n.s lower arm, no mention of arm pin or bush ? does that mean they not fix arm pin or bush ? thx
I've never seen such an aberration in all my life. Hits the end of the pinch bolt with a hammer after REMOVING the nut entirely. Then uses a short ball joint splitter as a lever to try to pull the joint shaft out the hub??? And uses no releasing fluid anywhere. Dear god. I've stopped watching at 2:37. Take my advice. Do not use this video as a guide to anything resembling a proper job.
+Márcio R. Hi as seen in the video 4:36 this part has a rubber cone ring on one point and middle so as rubber covered container on other point where thick oil is stored, with time passing oil gets dry and so as rubber and get tiff(might crack brake come loose and boom)....You do maintenance in order to everything function as it should. Welcome
These Peugeot 206, have the worst lower arm I ever seen. I am a Mechaniker and i can tell you if you are a DIYer don't start with this, cause you will end up with the drive shaft been pulled out from the gear box and the the oil from the gear box comes out. This is a very bad lower arm with too much pressure on it's bearings.
Yes, you are correct, I had the same unhappy experience a year ago. The driveshaft design is different on the R/H side and has an intermediate bearing which prevents it from ejecting from the gearbox when separated from the stub axle. The L/H driveshaft is one-piece and can fall straight out from the gearbox when released from the hub.
y tampoco la rotula del prazo no pegarla con masita ...la rotula tiene un rio bajarla un poco y entrando solo con mano ..sin masita ....tu no es micanico falta aprender
Tip - Leave the nut on before you hit the bolt to free it = It will save on damaging the thread
Thanks for a very informative instruction video. You just saved me a huge labour charge. ;-) and I'm not a mechanic at all.
Most people especially women think guys have the natural trait of being mechanically inclined.

Nightmare of a job lol, I am doing it now, getting the lower ball joint together is no fun at all.
before tightening the screws of the new arm it‘s recommended to use a hydraulic jack underneath the brake rotor and lift the wheelhub to the neutral position, which can be determined ahead of time, while the wheel is still on, by measuring the distance of the wheelcenter to the fenderframing of the wheelhouse. The voiceover recommended torquing the bolts up when the the wheel was on, but thats not what he did. Thank's for explaining why its important.
@@imnotamechanic3491 ah, OK. resting the car on it's wheels before torquing the bolts is also an alternative. However often not as convenient😀
And hitting the ball joint with Metal hammer is also not good.
Using a bit of pressure from a trolley jack underneath a tie rod when it's spinning is a bit easier than using a clamp! Great video though!
10/10 -Thanks for the great instruction guide ,was very helpful!
You the best!!!!my peugeot needs it!!!!
muito bom tirou minha duvida. ontem apanhei pra trocar um lado mas nesse video vc mostrou que nao é tao difícil assim. Hoje mesmo vou trocar o outro lado. thank you very much
great job mate. I done the same. Bit of tap as well. Brand new the kant..
Bit of assembly grease wouldn't go amiss.
Very good video :) how much NM you use for the wheel bolts?
Melhor vídeo,melhor filmagem melhor explicação
Will the wheels need re alignment after this
Yes
Tava apanhando para trocar do meu mais esse vídeo mostra uma maneira fácil e eficaz de fazer
Estou apanhando pra encaixar o pivô no local.
Soltei o encaixe do câmbio.onde você roda e movimenta motor
very good well presented,, i now know what to do thaanks
Você está sofrendo atoa amigo ao tirar a bandeja, é só soltar os 2 parafusos do agregado vlw
Hi, great video
Can you tell me which torque, in each bundle
thank you very much for your attention
Best Regards.
the 2 chassis bolts are 103lb/ft and ball joint 30lb/ft or 140nm and 40nm

if you pay $60 per hours someone to do this youre getting mugged lad xDDD
This guy makes an easy job look hard, wouldn't want him within 10 miles of my car!
Hi, could you please tell me what kind of torx you are using (E?) Thanky you very much!
Andrew Snowden e16 bro.
remove the ball joint after you've done the bolts on the wishbone, swivel the wishbone round then use a hammer on the wishbone to get it out the ball joint 😃
How hard the original bolts are? Class 8.8, or higher for this 206?
What was the reason to change.
Was that front wheel displaced backwards +
do not hammer the bolts!
great video that answered my questions. Cheers
05:15 this is great.
Excellent video , thank you !
I'm by no means mechanic so forgive my ignorance where can I get one of those metal bars you are using for leverage on the lower arm?

Hello, can you tell me the Torque to adjust the suspension Arm? Thanks
Échange amortisseur avant Peugeot 206
Where did you get those massive opening Mull Grips? Nice vid btw
i swear thats an e60 m5 v10 i hear in the background at 6:30
Very good video thank you
Tendrás que engrasar los tornillos antes de ponerlos
nunca pegar la rotula con masita por arriba vas a dañar la rochca
No es mejor quitar primero la transmisión??
Masterful stuff.
What w pain in the ass this job is.
THANKS BROTHER Good job
Very helpful thank you
This has to be a comedy
Darath Ny hahaha..Thats exactly what im trying to type on the comments earlier..

Great really helpful
Anybody no what torque specs the crimp bolt on the lower wishbone joint is
Muito bom o vídeo, bem detalhado .
Very nice your vídeo!!
i'm not being cheeky... your using that ball joint splitter wrong,a leg of the fork goes each side of the ball joint, then lever it down
Peugeot 207?
Very good!
Good mechanic
Никогда рулевые тяги, не откручивайте пистолетом,, она уже не годная, если вы проворачивали ее..
Don't hammering on balljoint
Thank you!!
Good video. Thanks for sharing !
Very good..
Nice men
That's not how you use a ball joint seperator
This is what car... Because is hard to change this

Won't happen on the right side, on the left side it does idd. I found out the hard way.

Ok
Good
Sorry, but painful to watch some of this. When your trying to get the ball-joint out just tap a small cold chisel or screwdriver in the slot.
Wat een monteur
