    I'm a die-hard warwick fan and proud owner of a corvette standard bubinga. I haven't played anything else since 2007 and I'm very happy with the way it sounds and feels. Warwick has been releasing many videos on their basses lately but their videos just don't do the basses justice. I wish they hired Ed to showcase at least the top notch models, which would make half the world want buy them... You are a great musician and the best reviewer on youtube, Ed. I miss your videos. Cheers from Brazil!

    One of the best sounding basses I've ever heard. I love the Streamer sound. However; I don't like the price tag. I'd rather keep my car.

    @123andrelevy - Pickups can be built many ways, so it's not a straight apples vs. oranges comparison. But in general, single coils are brighter and more open sounding. HBs are louder, more complex in the mids... this is VERY general. It depends on the pickup.

    Cheers for the great review, so good to see someone who actually demonstrates the the on board preamp and the difference between the pickups!
    To the effect of tone, is the Genz Benz's eq set flat?
    Keep up the awesome reviews!

    @Thatguy301 The switch above all means you can just flick it to go into slap mode without having to Eq so you could say have more presence/ a "better sound" (if you think it is! everyone is different!) for a slap solo, or a slapped section, same idea with the Ibanez slap "wheel" which rolls from slap to finger style eq as it were.
    Also, aren't Genz Benz rigs really like transparent sounding, but adding edges and mild colour too your sound? (which is why many love them) I could be way off there.

    Great review!!
    a have a killer question about single coils and humbuckers: what are their sounding characteristics ,good points ,bad points, stuff like that...

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV  13 років тому

    @Aureliano0Peachdoor - Well, maybe it's an old one. Regardless, the best reason to trade is because you both want what the other one has. If that works for you... why not? Switching to 5 will be a little challenge at first, but you'll get used to it. Most everyone does.

    is it bolt on

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV  13 років тому

    @Aureliano0Peachdoor - That would depend on where the bass was made. German made Warwicks are pretty expensive, the Asian ones much less. I wouldn't swap a 70s Ripper for anything less than a $1500-2K trade value myself. Unless it's totally trashed, then it might not be worth more than 1K.

  • @afeschyn
    @afeschyn 13 років тому

    @hautausurakoitsija Hi. I owned two Warwick Thumbs, one with MECs and one with SD Basslines. I was not much of a fan of either pickups. By the way, I also owned a bass with the SD STC-3 preamp (I think that's what the reviewed bass here has). It had the slap contour pot. I thought it made things too scooped, even for slap. That being said, the Warwicks I've played have been nice basses.

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV  12 років тому

    @MORGAN1992FREEM4N - Either one.

    Hi, Ed.
    Although Warwicks are not my preferred type of bass, I must say it was a great review of a great instrument. But hey, your voice sounded a little strange in this video. Did you have a cold? Hope you're feeling better now.
    Cheers from Porto Alegre, Brazil.

    What can you tell about the neck? Is it very thick? I liketo keep my bass very low (the bottom of the bass reaches my knee) My question will be, will it be comfortable to play with the 5 string model without twisting my wrist like crazy. Thanks

  • @WalrusDoom
    @WalrusDoom 13 років тому

    @hautausurakoitsija Really? I was pretty surprised to see that they went with SDs on this model. Then again I only know the MECs from my Corvette Proline but I think they're great pickups.

    @theothertroll Thanks a lot captain obvious but I already knew that he was using a Genz Benz Rig...The rig wasn't the highlight of the video or the reason alone that I watched it. The bass plugged into the rig is the highlight of the video and the reason that I watched it. I like warwicks, I've played warwicks and I have friends who use warwicks and I have no complaints. What I dont like is a random idiot replying to me pointing out the obvious and then insulting me.
    Have a great life!!! ^_^

    I tried a standard Streamer and was extremely disappointed. It had almost no output, even compared to a Squire P-bass. It may have been a one-of-a-kind problem, but I was still disappointed.

    not my favorite warwick tbh.... last years SE seems to be better... I dont like the sound of the slap contour switch... and looks like it gives its the best sound when using a pick... and I dont play with picks.... I seriously think seymour duncan pickups + seymour duncan preamp = fail....

  • @surfertron20000
    @surfertron20000 13 років тому

    @theothertroll Well fucking done. Yes obviously the rig is involved in it, but if the bass didn't add %70 of the sound why bother making different styles eh? Why bother buying an expensive bass. It makes so much sense that the instrument that creates the initial sound has no form of impact on the final product. Your logic is pretty much flawed there my friend.
