This is the first time I've heard a Warwick that doesn't sound like someone rolled the bass all the way off and the treble all the way up and plugged it straight into a laptop.
I have to say this is the best sounding best you've reviewed. Just amazing clarity,punch,growl,so much versatility,but it has so much character,something some active basses seem to lose(IMHO). Lovin the grooves played on this review apart from your usual. Keep em commin!
stunning is a great adjective for that instrument, sustain for miles and miles, I could almost taste the tone coming out that sweet seet rig. Awesome review
@BassGuitarMag Your old licks never bothered me. Catchy,to the point,and show how the bass sounds. Also makes the reviews consistent. Can't wait for the next video.
Great video as always! Finally we get to listen to a Warwick in your hands. However, I wouldn't recommend counting on that passive mode as a battery fail-safe - for some reason, with Warwicks, you NEED the battery to use passive mode! Without the battery, passive mode's as quiet as a whisper.
I have an opportunity to buy one of these exact basses used. I played it for hours today and tweaked it to my liking. it was absolutely a perfect instrument in every way. hauntingly good sounding and playing super light too. not one thing I didn't like
@bassistxx - Well, to my surprise, my editor just sent me three MORE Warwicks! All Pro Series Corvettes, 4, 5 and 6. I'll pick two to do a double review some point in the future.
@BassGuitarMag I stand corrected - I didn't realize this bass had passive pickups. I have Warwicks with active pickups and this is indeed true - no battery, no "passive" mode. Makes you wonder why they'd 'bother' including what amounts to an EQ bypass on an instrument with active pickups anyway!
@BassGuitarMag Oh I know, I didn't mean that was the only way to go or the only "correct" way to go, everyone has their own preferences. I was just expressing that I really like that setup and had never really thought about that as a possibility before. There is never a "right" or "better" only different. Everyone has their own personal taste!
@SuperGuy344 - This particular model, the Streamer is the Spector design. At some point Warwick licensed it from Spector. Warwick and Spector obviously make many other designs too. I think they are both exceptionally well made basses, each with their own unique signature tone. They are nice looking, and sound great. They are different though, you can tell them apart by ear if you listen.
Another awesome demo, Ed. I agree 100% with you on the reverse P PUP setup. Offers a more even and balanced tone across the instrument than a standard P PUP configuration, IMO. I'd also like to know what the neck radius/profile is on these as well. Not a fan of Warwick's typical baseball bat profile.
Great as always, Ed! Wonder which Bartolini pickups those are.. they seem to have about 4(!) different P models currently, though one common factor is that they all seem to have the harshness taken out of them. The smoothness may not the most conducive thing for a "head-slicing" tone, but I guess you've just shown us that's more than possible!
@XXX38 - It's all in the hands.... Okay, not ALL of it, but a big part of it is touch. I'm using a great amp (Genz Benz) and using a great mic (Rode NT1-a), and the goal is to bring out the natural tone of the bass. The only eq on the amp is a little bass boost, and a little low mid boost around 120Hz.
@Morgoth51 yeah i was meaning the ss1, cause its a review of a steamer... and the old ss1 sounds spector like. i know that ww thumb dolphin, corvette are totaly different basses than stremers ( woods, pcikups, pu position )
@pbobassist - It's not about me being right, it's just my preference. Many people love the sound of their PJs. While I think the reverse PJ sounds better, I'm not personally interested in that setup either. There are a few instruments that I find useful, and I like them in their original configurations. A P bass needs one pickup, a Jazz - two. A Stingray - one. That's about it for me.
@andyKCIUK - Someone else just mentioned this. Honestly, I've never had the battery go dead in a Warwick, so I was just assuming it was like most active/passive basses.
Hey Ed great choice! just wondering if the neck on that is a slim one as in radius? I got long fingers, I prefer a chunky neck. I currently have a Carvin Lb75 love the neck, any other basses that might have chunky neck?
@jpuckett1989 - Thanks, it IS a nice sounding bass isn't it? And the grooves... well I guess I got sick of hearing people bitch that I play the same licks all the time. I'll go back to the same old licks next video! ;)
@6690698 - I would say this one has a Jazz-like neck. Not very chunky. But I'm sure Warwick makes some big ass necks too. Chunky neck? Check out the Fender Steve Harris bass!
Could you tell how's the nect? I usualy play an ibanez bass, a 5 string one, and, as you know, it has that super fast playing neck. Is this one somehow similair to the ibanez one? And how would it be on a 5 string, especially when i keep my bass quite low when i'm playing.
I've been curious on your tone. You seem to pull these great tones out of all of your basses. Is there somewhere I can find out your gear and setting that you use when you're testing all of these basses? I mean mainly your amp/EQ settings too. I know you mention the bass settings you're using during the videos.
ed, how did the neck profile feel to you? there used to be some reputation for warwick necks being as bats, but that they recently modified their neck shapes...
@vibhaspatil002 - I don't know, if I had two of the exact same basses with the different fret materials, I could give you an answer. A Warwick PJ 5 string? No.
Hey Ed, how do you feel about Spectors? I think of Warwick and Spector as two close relatives. Warwick is exotic woods, while Spector is all fancy visuals (which isn't a bad thing). Do you have, or what is, your opinion on the two companies?
@idigcars But still sounds great!! I myself am a very proud owner of an FNA Jazzman with MEC's which is killer. You gotta admit the Bartolinis do a great job!!
@toiletfarm - I am not throwing Fender "under the bus". Lots of companies, in fact MOST companies make their PJ setups that way, and it's my preference to have them reversed. In fact, two companies that make reversed PJs - Spector, and Warwick... I have never owned one of their basses. But I do own 6 Fenders. Kind of throws your statement under the bus.
How come the Warwick and Spector body shape are so similar? I know the Ned Steinberder or NS body shape you find on all Spector basses came to be around 1976 or so... I'm not saying that there is a rip off from either company, but i cant but wonder..... who came first???? I'm going with Spector... do you know any thing about it Ed?
very nice review !!! that bass is pretty awesome to bad i can't afford one , maybe you could just slide that one my way?? haha just kiddin but not really..but great review !!!
@Thatguy301 Aha.... that's the deal. I see... well IMHO Spector basses are the best basses i have ever played.... But then again that's just me :-) Thanks dude :-)
This is the first time I've heard a Warwick that doesn't sound like someone rolled the bass all the way off and the treble all the way up and plugged it straight into a laptop.
They do usually sound like that in videos, but my Warwick corvette sounds full and sometimes almost too bass-ey.
Wow Ed your so right about that PJ configuration! I never thought about that before.. and great slap line:D
I was waiting for a Warwick test... thanks Ed! Great stuff as always.
i'm so glad you finally reviewed a warwick. they're my favorite bass and your playing makes me want them more hearing it through your rig.
You played Roundabout....
AWESOME!
Another brilliant review, thanks Ed!
What a great way to end the demo.
Nice work Ed. Keep 'em coming!
Big fan of you strumming the chords. You really made that baby sing. Keep up the great work, and thanks...
Nice review Ed!
Love these!
Great review as always. Thank you kindly!

Finally! A Warwick review...I wish I was as lucky as you.
Awesome Ed. I have an older Streamer STD, but this one is certainly in another league. Representing the MetroGnome crew in Tucson!
@BassGuitarMag Your old licks never bothered me. Catchy,to the point,and show how the bass sounds. Also makes the reviews consistent.
Can't wait for the next video.
I love the key of bass on the curtains!
great bass..
peace and love from serbia!

That is one wicked bass! :D I really love it.
That's one of the BEST slap tones I've ever heard!
Beautiful bass, great sound!
Great playing also!
That pick bass riff is awesome man! I love it :D
I have an opportunity to buy one of these exact basses used. I played it for hours today and tweaked it to my liking. it was absolutely a perfect instrument in every way. hauntingly good sounding and playing super light too. not one thing I didn't like
God, that pick style sounds so amazing
Awesome video as usual, like the bass clef behind you :P
Excellent demonstration videos dude. Congatulations.
@bassistxx - Well, to my surprise, my editor just sent me three MORE Warwicks! All Pro Series Corvettes, 4, 5 and 6. I'll pick two to do a double review some point in the future.
That overdriven riff was SWEEET!!
@deathbytoasters - Thanks, it was custom made by Chris Smartt of Solstice Gardens.
What a fantastic grindy pick tone.
I wish I could slap like that :D. great review as always

Roundabout!! Great demo Ed! I only wish Warwicks were cheaper so I could put one next to my Musicman.
@killmeandit - No problem. I like playing with a pick, I use it quite a bit.
@XXX38 - It's all in the hands.... Okay, not ALL of it, but a big part of it is touch. that bridge pickup sounds really awesome...
@92Scalloped - Nice, in fact this was one of the lightest Warwicks I've ever played.
Excellent reviews on basses...great playing and happy to hear all the variations...would love to see some Dingwalls done by you.
Thanks!!
graphics1988 Big fan of Sheldon's work. Hope he asks me to demo something in the future.
@Morgoth51
yeah i was meaning the ss1, cause its a review of a steamer... and the old ss1 sounds spector like.
i know that ww thumb dolphin, corvette are totaly different basses than stremers ( woods, pcikups, pu position )
@musicman9901 - Hard to say if I'll get to the 5006, I just did an Ibanez 6 string (GV1006) and it may be a while till I do another one.
thanks for playing with pick!!!
@bassistxx - possibly, but not for a little while. Got to spread the love.
@pbobassist - It's not about me being right, it's just my preference. Many people love the sound of their PJs. @bassistxx - I don't remember, but it didn't leave me thinking it was uncomfortable.
Damn, that was great.
@inuyashaspet - I'm not sure which model they are.
hey ed nice review i was just wondering if you've ever come across any basses made by schecter particularly the stiletto series?
Hey Ed great choice! just wondering if the neck on that is a slim one as in radius? I got long fingers, I prefer a chunky neck. I currently have a Carvin Lb75 love the neck, any other basses that might have chunky neck?
@jesse54216 - I don't know. Check the Warwick site.
what is the machine that starts playing drums when you start playing bass? I want one
@jpuckett1989 - Thanks, it IS a nice sounding bass isn't it? And the grooves... well I guess I got sick of hearing people bitch that I play the same licks all the time. I'll go back to the same old licks next video! ;)

@BassGuitarMag Thank you, I'll see what I can do.
good playing and good bass
Ed, Do you know if the Bartolini pickups in the Warwick LX are the standard P/J pickups, or are they the Classic Bass Series P/J Pickups?
how did you dialed the chris squire tone?!?!
@Killonn -Volume, blend, bass, treble.
@BassGuitarMag Do you keep all the basses you review? I mean, I want that job! :)
Please do a review on the Warcik Bubinga standard :)
I've been curious on your tone. You seem to pull these great tones out of all of your basses. Is there somewhere I can find out your gear and setting that you use when you're testing all of these basses? I mean mainly your amp/EQ settings too. @lummond - Really? Interesting. Even if the battery is in the bass, but dead?
Are you using a Phil Jones Bass instrument cable. I think I recognize the jacks.
ed, how did the neck profile feel to you? there used to be some reputation for warwick necks being as bats, but that they recently modified their neck shapes...
@BassGuitarMag
wow thats a crazy sound (at the start) i really thought you were in a drop tuneing or something.
@BassGuitarMag Great adding to my already over sized warwick GAS
Nicest slap tone of all your reviews Ed, I really enjoyed that, and I'm not interested in slap.... Not clanky or overly bright. Tight, very nice.
@vibhaspatil002 - I don't know, if I had two of the exact same basses with the different fret materials, I could give you an answer.
A Warwick PJ 5 string? No.

@79catcer - Good eye!
SWEET !!!!!!!!!
@jpuckett1989 - Today I shot a demo... all the licks were in 7/4.
@cachubiza - The neck felt good to me.
@rinosphere - You're welcome.
@henry12350 - Yes I am.
@idigcars But still sounds great!! I myself am a very proud owner of an FNA Jazzman with MEC's which is killer. You gotta admit the Bartolinis do a great job!!
@AnEcumenicalMatter - I've seen them, haven't played them.
Christ, that's a brilliant instrument! Shame I'll never have one *sigh*.
u should do a review on those weird electric stand up basses
KILLER SLAP TONE!!!!!!!
@mickyhodge - Probably not for a while if at all.
@toiletfarm - I am not throwing Fender "under the bus". Lots of companies, in fact MOST companies make their PJ setups that way, and it's my preference to have them reversed. very nice review !!! that bass is pretty awesome to bad i can't afford one , maybe you could just slide that one my way?? haha just kiddin but not really..but great review !!!
Sounds like a super dark Jazz bass. Kinda cool.
that beginning lick is so sick
@Thatguy301 Aha.... that's the deal. I see... well IMHO Spector basses are the best basses i have ever played....
But then again that's just me :-)
Thanks dude :-)
@AwakeN6 - Well, you could buy my Slap Bass instructional DVD and learn how.
how much this bass costs?
i dont get it...pickups are magnetic...the wood doesnt affeect the pickups=>neither the plugged in tone(it does acoustically).
are you in standard tuning?
@YiannisMetallas96 - About $3500.
me likey!!
@svtrs1 - It's supposed to sound like hell!
so expensive(
but it has a different sound - awesome
@vendettawarcrime - Thanks, I do have a sensitive side..... ;)
WARWICK! :D
