Honestly Tsukasa has one of the best shounen antagonist backstories, its simple and very realistic. A child surrounded by incompetent adults is forced to grow up so he can save his sister. He enters entertainment industry, full of corruption and money hungry people so it makes sense that he would hate that kind of world.

    • @yourfriendlyeverydayhealer9306
      @yourfriendlyeverydayhealer9306 3 роки тому +20

Not to mention that the doctors gave up on his sister. The science at the time didn’t save her and no one else bothered to try and find a way to do so. It may be understandable for some but to Tsukasa, who at that time was a child, it’s very easy not to accept that outcome and look for another way. Science failed Tsukasa, the adults failed Tsukasa.
And that makes the scene of what if he met Senku and the others all the more understandable and bittersweet. Tsukasa was right to say that things would have been different had he and Senku met. Perhaps, in another timeline, Tsukasa wouldn’t have to shoulder the burden of keeping his sister alive while traversing through the world of corruption alone. Perhaps he would have been able to believe in science again and maybe believe in the world he once lived in before petrification again.

And a lot of people give the character crap, because his thought process is illogical. I think that’s point that a lot of people miss, it not meant to be flawless logic; it meant to show how he thinks and feels about his situation. Take Stain from MHA, his belief that all pro heroes need to perfectly Golden makes sense given how he view All Might.

One of the other things I absolutely love about how Senku is able to achieve peace with Tsukusa is that not one single solitary piece of it was an asspull. EVERYTHING was earned, and established WAY earlier in the show. One of the first things Tsukasa learns about Senku is that he would never lie when it comes to science. And it’s that conviction that ends the war

I initially wondered why he wouldn’t have found her earlier, but my sister mentioned that he was doing what he said Senku and Taiju should have done with Yuzuruha. Buried her so no one could use his weak spot against him. Very clever!

One of the biggest wins for Dr. Stone is how they let Senku, the very logical scientist, have such incredible depth of emotion. He is without a doubt as emotional a person as Taiju, he just doesn't display it as loudly, and it's lovely the way you get to see it by how all of his actions and science are oriented around saving or protecting people and making everyone's lives better or easier.

When Tsukasa slipped away while idly chatting with Senku one last time I was brought to literal a sobbing mess. In the beginning I loathed him for all the BS he pulled but as the eldest sibling of 4 myself I can relate to his desire a lot. The desire to give the younger ones a chance at a brighter future than what I had no matter the cost. In my eyes this season made Tsukasa pay for his sins in full and with interest.

What I thought about good writing is how the tsukasa’s sister means future, she represents what petrification can do for humanity, promoting senku to think how to save tsukasa or anyone with terminal/long term illnesses. And how the writer was able to get rid of the plot whole of tsukasa traveling with the group because he is the strongest primate. Making him freeze relieves the dragon ball problem of having a foe with even more physical might.

Also that Chrome pneumonia thing, I thought he was bluffing when he said it to Yo, then I actually believed it and panicked a little when he got back and told the others, and then they twisted it again? Outstanding.

I just realized that they found something that can petrify people. That powder or whatever that the weird chief and these two warriors use. You know what I mean. So in theory, they have a way to petrify Tsukasa and since they now can make infinite revival fluid (with that platinum thingy) they can petrify and revive Tsukasa.

4:30 I’m really sad, but they might cast someone else as Byakuya at some point. Or have Senku narrate and keep him as a silent character. Mild spoilers ahead - I won’t say how, but we all know Byakuya died in the past.
I won’t spoil how, but you do see Byakuya’s death, and it was so sad, but also full of hope for the future (yes, the spin off is canon - you can see the ISS in those panels in the main story and it is well worth a read and will certainly be important later, since Senku will have to check the sky for debris from satellites and such if they will achieve the whole rocket goal from the start)
It would be possible to do the end scene well without voicing Byakuya (since silence and music plus a little narration from Senku as he realises just how much Byakuya did would be great) but Byakuya’s last thoughts were beautiful and I hope they will be conveyed.
I hope they continue to show his voice actor respect, and I would hate to see the role recast, even at the cost of Byakuya becoming a silent character.

When they unpetrified that bald man with the deadline, I thought "I bet that´s the writer doing a cameo", and chuckled further.

47:10 I personally never hated Tsukasa. I understood why he was doing what he did and while not justified I would have agreed with him. This series is so good at portraying friendship it's crazy. The scene in season 1 where Taiju is explaining that guys typically don't get overly attached then immediately tear up made me tear up, and in the same vein, the scene where Senku talks about Mario Mushrooms made me cry, just wow. Even during the war they both thought of each other as friends

    SPOILERS AHEAD:
The americans were actually there and not in stone, and they have as the leader dr xeno
And they need to fight them till they get petrified again by a FIXED MEDUSA (the medusa is a small thing which turned to stone every man/woman on earth, and for plot convenience it is given the name of medusa, and they help tsukasa by petrifying him)
And as a bigger spoiler after the america fight, only suika gets out of the stone (with the help of the miracle fluid) and it takes 7 years to get senku out of the stone, which helped her to get everyone out of the stone
And currently they are on their way for gathering everything they need to make a rocket engine and super alloys, and they need to make super precise calculations or else they won't be able to land on the moon

Something i love is how coincidences dont often happen in this show. Sure, they do, but also, don't coincidences happen to you? They do exist, so it fits enough if you keep it low enough.

every time they mentioned how much they hesitating killing other people, i enjoyed it. much like how peaceful this war ended. at first i was confused because why would they feel something about the statues and why couldn't they just immediately kill each other, and kill tsukasa. but then i realized that they're mostly a group of 18-19 year olds, of course they would be uncomfortable killing people even if they're statues.
you would think they would go straight to guns but i think senku does realize some of the value of what tsukasa says about how people have abused science via weapons. so senku makes sure to not use science to kill people for the sake of war like humans in the past. and in the end, he forces the situation of the war to end in a stalemate. with both sides being unable to make a move out of convenience. senku never wanted a true war, but he wanted to make a deal that benefitted both parties. that reveal at the end of season 2 was really good in my opinion.
the fact that senku admits that he can't and will never choose to kill someone with science, gen defends the statues because they haven't done anything wrong, ukyo says he's a coward and doesn't want any bloodshed, and kohaku has never killed anyone so she knows she will hesitate, i think its great. because of course they feel this way. they're young adults who've never been in a position to actually take someone else's life, of course they don't want to actually kill someone. even if it seems like it would be the easy way out. i just think it's nice to see them actually grapple if they actually want to be murderers and they don't want to be.
