Callback to episode 25. There was a mention of ogres and grapes being units of measurement. The description of an Ogre says 9-10 feet tall, I'm going to round it to about 3 meters per ogre. As one grape is six seconds we have reached an IMPORTANT premise. Derek said that the sled on level 5 could go ~30mph. The sled on level 5 was traveling at approximately 8.94 ogres per grape! Astounding!!!
Fun fact that I thought I'd share about ice (because I just learned about it): When sheets of ice, often large bodies of water, freeze quickly, they make a sound that is often called "singing". This is caused by the rapid expansion of the ice and sounds as if the ice is breaking, even though it isnt. It is both a very cool and very spooky effect!
Every new episode I am asked to lend you my strength.. but in reality I'm gaining so much strength by watching this fantastic story unfold with a group of truly talented people.
Me, in a good mood: I've finally caught up! Now I'm up to-- **record scratch** Oh no... I've finally caught up...💀 Waiting for this every month is going to be pure torture! Such a brilliant campaign can't wait for more!
That's just TTRPGs in a nutshell. I was running a campaign where the players met a ranger that was going to be their guide through a cursed forest. When they asked his name, he said "names are dangerous for my kind to give freely, so you may simply call me Lancer." The halfling, without missing a beat says, "I'm going to call you Crackers!" Serious companion character immediately became a goofy character with a serious facade
The pens, a symbol of the ogres being treated like lesser than the goliaths even to the point of being almost cattle, being smashed into weapons for a violent ogres revolt is just so satisfying from a story perspective. It's also interesting to see the ogres, former slave owners themselves, having fallen into subjugation by a more powerful civilization. Barnabos is right that slavery is an abomination and as long as it is perpetuated all people are in danger of finding themselves reduced to property by a mightier force.
Also, Barnabos looking for female goliaths, asking if memory sparks there? Please don't let this big Triton die before we figure out what THAT is about.
Dang just dang, I began watching Icebound a few weeks ago. I myself am a beginner DM and I am constantly using tips and tricks that I learn from Derick’s amazing work. My descriptions and rollplay have grown so much more richer. Thank you Derick and Gang for sharing the joy you all have as friends with us!
Honestly same I've been DM twice now and I find myself saying "what happens next is up to you" I really like Derek's style of story telling and I just try to mix little bits of his style into my own
All men are capable of growing their hair out. I speak from experience when I say that if you grow out your hair and your beard, and do ~50 pushups a day, you will have to carry a staff to push the ladies away
3:33:07 I love the idea that the horn for the intro of Icebound that we've heard since day one is the horn the Goliath blows to summon the Princess of Wrath. That cyclical idea is incredibly satisfying to me
AAAHHHHHHHHH ( A Skrim scream™) this is my favourite DND channel on UA-cam, you guys have the characters, the comedy, the story, the way you all have different dming styles but are all equally amazing! And did I mention the comedy?! You guys bounce off eachother so well, and make every episode funny, dramatic, heartbreaking and what I'm trying to say is, I love you guys 🥰❤️
Icebound episode on my Birthday? The wind doth blow across the valley, the sun shines upon a thankful man, and gratitude cascades like water into my heart of hearts. All is well.
I have never been happier to hear a character name when the Goliath introduced himself as the same name for a character I’m playing in a campaign. I love you guys so much please keep us laughing
i’m less than ten minutes but i need to say really quick that i half expected to hear a dismayed “MY CABBAGES “ from someone when the party crashed through the market
I think the Ogres might be my favorite npcs next to the mute humans XD I loved them when they were smart and I love them when they're dumb. Tak is so freaking precious!
I can't believe I am CAUGHT UP!!! I discoverd you all a couple of months back and am now up to speed with Witchlight, Edge of midnight and Icebound. Your content is incredible!!! You inspire me greatly, after this episode, off to Stardust Rhapsody I go
did nikki have a migraine while doing this? bless her for toughing it out, but I can see the closing one eye and cold wash cloth trick and cant enjoy as much knowing she suffered for us. Amazing video as always, but please take care of yourselves guys
Ya, it think she did, I hate how some ppl are so rude to her. She’s trying. But, ya I agree, they really need better sleep schedules, they go to sleep at like 10:00-12:00 almost every time they record OUAW or Icebound.
Good god this episode was fantastic. Music was on point, rolls were on point, storytelling on point, and the group's creativity flowed like the wind rolling through a field of grass. Plus the jokes had me almost pissing my pants from laughing so hard. Great job guys!
26 episodes in and I’ll never skip past Derek’s intro and the intro music and character credits. The atmosphere it brings is unlike any else. I just love it all so much!
I just love everything within the last hour its so ciminatic to the point I'm litterly imagine it as a movie in my eyes. Yes my family was shaking me worrying if I had a stroke
1:26:56 Derek said Taishen only met Dragon Princess two times, but wasn't it three times? Second on the ice, third during the fight, BUT the first meeting was when they gave away all of the captains gold, right?
technically, yes!! though i'm almost certain that taishen didn't come out to see the princess, that he stayed in when they gave her two barrels of the gold. however, he might have just forgotten because it was basically not part of their journey yet
Damn I'm caught up on Witchlight and now Icebound... You guys do an amazing job with all your campaigns! As a recently graduated college student struggling to find a job in entertainment you guys have brought a smile to my face and loud laughter for the last two weeks while I've been bingeing! Keep it up can't wait to see what happens next!
Ive been having so much fun with this series! I recently got into this and have been podcasting it for about a month while at work, and I've laughed to tears, and cringed at the captain's broken leg multiple times, each! So happy I found y'all, and I was wondering if you had recommendations of which campaign I could start watching next between new uploads? Looking forward to the next!
So I looked it up because I got curious, but I did find it interesting how Argentholme is a combination of two words meaning silver and hills/islets. Argent is French for silver (thanks, google translate), while the definition of a holme is: an islet, especially in a river or near a mainland. I think it’s a little curious that the keep they need to go to is in the middle of a lake and the main currency of the city among its inhabitants is silver (and copper too, but I’m trying to make a point 😤). Anyway, smart name for a city, Derek 🧐👏👏👏
Ok i have a question ive been sitting on for a few episodes. So several back the cobalts sent them to kill a large bird beast. They had killed it shortly after escaping near death with the windigo’s and had taken an eyeball that could paralyze anyone who looked upon its gaze. Do they still have this said eyeball or did they lose it in ogerton?
I'm gonna make some soup and I'm gonna make the dynamite beef but I'm going to make it with black beans and jackfruit "AHHHH ID RATHER STARVE YOU SICK FREAK" "THIS IS A GODLESS PLACE"
Naming a character Nimrod and making him creepy and comedic to lure players into thinking he’s unserious, just to have him be the realest, most loyal, and most generous character in the campaign is such a fun rug pull
Alright so I'm very new to DnD, and I'm basically just learning on the way; I have some common knowledge about the most popular species, or things that I've picked up from my friends who plays Baldur's Gate 3 (for example I recognized the description of the illithids in Ogreton). But mostly, I know nothing and it's been a pleasure to discovered more about this world. Now to make sure to understand everything, I've taken upon myself to google every name that I hear and don't recognize related to DnD: classes, places, species, everything. So you can't imagine my surprise whan I looked up "Gehenna", and recognized the HELLISH PLACE where Skrimm was sent to a few episodes ago ???? Why is no one talking about this in the comments ??? 😂 And also Mace and Richie sharing a look while hearing the name ? Priceless 🤌
2:03:27 Thats it, everyone go home. This is the funniest interaction that has ever interacted. Cut! Paste! Thats the movie!!! GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY!!! Edit: I would die for Tak. I would commit actual Chuckles levels of war crimes for Tak. I've had Tak for all of two hours, but if anything happened to him I would make everyone in this room have to roll a death savign throw and then critial hit myself. ALSO: Tak and the Power of SnuSnu. Its funny. I'm going to bed.
Callback to episode 25. There was a mention of ogres and grapes being units of measurement. The description of an Ogre says 9-10 feet tall, I'm going to round it to about 3 meters per ogre. The sled on level 5 was traveling at approximately 8.94 ogres per grape! Astounding!!!
That is astounding! I was genuinely curious if anyone did the conversion and this made my day.
13:54 tavern owner: "What the h3ll were you thinking??!!"
Skrim: "We weren't."
Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
the room service snack conversation is exactly how it feels to be the one making a group order i need that as a short tbh
OMFGOSH YES 😂😂

Oh no... I've finally caught up...💀
Waiting for this every month is going to be pure torture! Such a brilliant campaign can't wait for more!
Scared me for a second, still got 2 episodes till I feel this sadness
I've been milking this episode for the past month knowing the end is near
Dereks way of speaking shall forever be know as the Drakar Inflection
I love how Derek TRIES SO HARD to keep his composure so often
and then it gets even funnier
There is no escape from *the funny*

Well, the ogres basically went from cattle to slaves, they're just aware of it this time
Also, Barnabos looking for female goliaths, asking if memory sparks there? Please don't let this big Triton die before we figure out what THAT is about.
I love that Richie basically took the last part of Yornir and the last part of Yorgrim as his Goliath name Grimnir. I love you guys so much
1:28:37 “SISTERS FLY” is giving Hocus Pocus and I live for it every time the joke is made
That's the point of the joke, it's a reference to Hocus Pocus lol
Dang just dang, I began watching Icebound a few weeks ago. I myself am a beginner DM and I am constantly using tips and tricks that I learn from Derick’s amazing work. Rich, I beg of you, Please put the locks up. You're to dazzling for the rest of us guys to have a chance.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it's actually Jörnir's hair 😂😂😂😂
The Gender envy is too much
All men are capable of growing their hair out. I speak from experience when I say that if you grow out your hair and your beard, and do ~50 pushups a day, you will have to carry a staff to push the ladies away
@KorGarrot maybe that's why jornir has his staff
bro the fact that the music had this sick riff when the princess of wrath turned human was sick af Derek is the most metal DM ever
The entire barn scene was absolutely phenomenal you guys, constant awe. And FINALLY some more nuggets towards Skrimm's curse!
Is it just me, or did anyone else hear Skrimm say "I have two gold coins" and imagine him rubbing them together like the world's smallest violin?
I see that
I see that too
I thought more along the lines of "These are my last two braincells."
3:33:07 I love the idea that the horn for the intro of Icebound that we've heard since day one is the horn the Goliath blows to summon the Princess of Wrath. That cyclical idea is incredibly satisfying to me

Icebound episode on my Birthday? The wind doth blow across the valley, the sun shines upon a thankful man, and gratitude cascades like water into my heart of hearts. All is well.
Alright Shakespeare, happy late birthday🎉
I am fascinated by this elf curse and how it ties in work Skrimm.
I have never been happier to hear a character name when the Goliath introduced himself as the same name for a character I’m playing in a campaign. I love you guys so much please keep us laughing
This has been the best episode so far. I am in anticipation to see what happens next.
the music this season was amazing it fit perfectly with the barn scene
i’m less than ten minutes but i need to say really quick that i half expected to hear a dismayed “MY CABBAGES “ from someone when the party crashed through the market
Aha Mace actually said it at the end of last session ! When they crashed in the market 😂
Binging this over the last 2 weeks, almost up to date. Consuming most of my days but cant stop watching.
I love the way Rich uses his spells, it's joy to watch!
I think the Ogres might be my favorite npcs next to the mute humans XD I loved them when they were smart and I love them when they're dumb. Tak is so freaking precious!
"...a godless place." is the perfect way to describe a vegan establishment.
I can't believe I am CAUGHT UP!!! I discoverd you all a couple of months back and am now up to speed with Witchlight, Edge of midnight and Icebound. Your content is incredible!!! You inspire me greatly, after this episode, off to Stardust Rhapsody I go
Tak Push!!! Everyone -NONONONO! Lmao I love it
Edit, just finished and I have to say, Derek I am in awe of you
The Soup Pervert thing made me think: is Booker just Skrimm's fursona?
did nikki have a migraine while doing this? bless her for toughing it out, but I can see the closing one eye and cold wash cloth trick and cant enjoy as much knowing she suffered for us. Amazing video as always, but please take care of yourselves guys

Having a migraine, bright lights on, AND trying to think is fucking torture. It's insane that she can DM and keep things on track when ill.
Good god this episode was fantastic. Music was on point, rolls were on point, storytelling on point, and the group's creativity flowed like the wind rolling through a field of grass. Plus the jokes had me almost pissing my pants from laughing so hard. Great job guys!

Skrimm apologizing shows true character growth. Extremely exciting to see where this will go.
I just love everything within the last hour its so ciminatic to the point I'm litterly imagine it as a movie in my eyes.
Yes my family was shaking me worrying if I had a stroke

Witch light hour!
THIS EPISODE WAS SO FUCKIN HYPED OMG 10/10 truly a masterpiece of storytelling Derek

I was thinking the same thing, damn Barnabos attacking the kobolds in the tunnel ruining that out
I'm gonna make some soup and I'm gonna make the dynamite beef but I'm going to make it with black beans and jackfruit "AHHHH ID RATHER STARVE YOU SICK FREAK" "THIS IS A GODLESS PLACE"
We're back! New exciting arc. Love it. Very cool town. Even cooler introduction.
Man what a great session, real nice to see Queenie get a bit more involved this time too 👏
Please keep this campaign going, it’s amazing
This cracks me up because a couple of months ago I bought a 25lb jackfruit not realizing what I was getting myself into
I hope the orges situation doesn't end up like John Brown
Your campaigns are always so funny and great👏👏👏
Just started watching you!
Can't wait for airstrikes!
Skrim many plans Stabascotch
Grimnir's entrance to Giant's Step is fantastic
The Soup-ervert..lmao
Naming a character Nimrod and making him creepy and comedic to lure players into thinking he’s unserious, just to have him be the realest, most loyal, and most generous character in the campaign is such a fun rug pull
Finally caught up! Though I'm honestly not sure whether Im glad or sad. That means I'll have to wait for a month every time I wanna watch it.
I am compelled to draw the soup pervert 😂
WOO HOO!!! LETS GOOOOOO MORE ICEBOUND!!! YAAAAAA (I’m way to excited, I’m just excited to see Taishen & Jornir, lol)
Jornir kinda looks like Matt Mercer xD
This session was insane 🤯
"the Giants step." I hear Earthbound calling my name.
Alright so I'm very new to DnD, and I'm basically just learning on the way; I have some common knowledge about the most popular species, or things that I've picked up from my friends who plays Baldur's Gate 3 (for example I recognized the description of the illithids in Ogreton).

I have just finished catching up after what felt like forever. I’m excited to watch the next episode live!
Yeah no imma leave the last 10 minutes to watch right before the next live 🙂
2:03:27 Thats it, everyone go home. This is the funniest interaction that has ever interacted.
Cut! Paste! Thats the movie!!!
GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY!!!
Edit: I would die for Tak.
I would commit actual Chuckles levels of war crimes for Tak.
I've had Tak for all of two hours, but if anything happened to him I would make everyone in this room have to roll a death savign throw and then critial hit myself.
ALSO: Tak and the Power of SnuSnu.
Its funny.
I'm going to bed.
First! Cant wait to see what happens lads and lasses!
I'm so confused. Yall keep changing how your doing twists. What is the rule now? Is it just cause you liked the holy grail system with it?
The group snacks section has me rolling
2:40:07 Jornir roasting soup man
I haven't identified with another character as much as I do with the 30 year old elf
I dunno if I'm wrong about this but screw migraines. Nikkie is a trooper!!
Who is bugs bunny? That was Harry Harengon
1:27:06
Drinking out of a raw gallon of water is absolutely sinnful
Someone get that man a water bottle 😂
37:31 "is it niiiice?"
I hate that im old enough to remember the poster kiosks and flipping through them
1:12:54 this is like going through a drive thru lol
YES!!!!
Im confused on the last bit
Sorry about the headache/migraine/sinus issues Nikkie, that doesn't look fun at all. .
That ending though.. what the fuuuuck

So they destroyed the market, yet there's not a single vendor yelling about his destroyed cabbages? what kind of crappy market is that?
