It may not have been him,it could have been another family member, He may not even be aware of why it happened, or another family member who disapproved of that relationship, the only thing is ,I believe I heard that his father and uncle offered their legal services for free, in that case, which is unusual,,did they collect monies on that case,in another manner?,,remember it's 2015 its more open now, than 13 years ago,it would bring shame on the family name too, if it became common knowledge,of a suspected relationship with a man

I heard some of the jail calls between Buster and Alex, with Alex asking Buster if he was planning on going hunting at that Moselle property where his mother and brother were killed. Buster said no..he doesn't want to go back there. Alex casually laughed and acted surprised by that and informed Buster that some friends were planning on going there hunting, if he wasn't. Why on earth would you want your surviving son going to the scene where your wife and other child were killed, *if* the "true killer(s)" are still on the loose??? Things like that, on top of all of the other evidence, really shows me that they arrested the right person.

I think the jury will feel he is guilty, but the prosecution did not prove its case. Sadly... I think that's how it will end. Even though the kennel video and the Onstar information and him coersing/gaslighting multiple witnesses is proof enough for me.

All these people saying Buster didn’t show emotion-there was reporting after this trial that when the cameras finally panned off of Buster; he collapsed and cried hysterically and had to be physically helped into his family’s car. I hate to see the rumors speculated about this young man. If your family was MURDERED, and you have to deal with that….then you have to process it was your Dad that did it…How is he supposed to cope? I didn’t know there was a rule book on how people grieve! I would be numb too! JFC he has released a statement asking the media to stop publishing defamatory comments about him. This young man’s every move and face gesture has been analyzed. Until he’s been proven to have had involvement in Mr Smith’s death, isn’t he innocent until proven guilty? Isn’t that his American right? If he did it, the truth will come out. But until then, people need to leave him alone! He lost HIS WHOLE IMMEDIATE FAMILY now. I don’t know if I could comprehend my own father murdered my mother and brother either for a while. I would go into shock.

He's not really showing the typical delayed/altered cognition or frozen or limp postures typical of shock. Its possible he has some level of dissociation. I lost someone very dear to me, and had all kinds of inappropriate ( hysterical) laughter at unrelated topics, but my grief, depression and confusion were more or less consistent for years and anytime i heard his name, it was instantly greivously painful, no matter how strong i tried to be. For Buster to be so consistently relaxed, bright, chatty, lucid, unfazed does seem odd. He does show some shakiness and depressing tone in his voice when shown the picture of the white house. Sometimes the killers/accomplices get emotional faced with the evidence. Emotion does not prove or disprove guilt or innocence alone. Facts should always be the deciding factor, not speculations.

The real killer knowing people were home at Moselle snuck on to the property by the kennels WITH NO WEAPONS OF THEIR OWN just waiting for Paul and whoever else to show up so they could hopefully find guns there left around and loaded to blast them away. What killer comes with no weapon. This is insanity.
Also the real killer would have to assume this very first property owned by rich people would definitely have first class CCTV security, secret cameras and or guards. That property had lots of buildings and trees to hide cameras. Again this is insanity to think a "real killer" murdered them.

I cannot agree more with you, being seasoned defense lawyers as they are, and from what I can gather, ones who will knowingly and gladly represent guilty parties for the right price, the defence lawyers have vast knowledge of just how criminals operate particularly how they try to think of every eventuality, and they're clearly relying on the Jury's lack of knowledge as to how real criminals operate to believe such a ridiculous story of sheer luck on behalf of the shooter. Which leaves just one of two options, either defense is using this bumbling shooter with an incredible run of luck because they're struggling to offer alternative options for who did this... Well believable ones anyway, or they are incredibly lazy, unimaginative lawyers who aren't the supposed dream team as claimed that these people have a knack of portraying themselves as something they're not, and are resigned to the fact that they're effectively pissing in the wind.

Me being a victim of a father who is a sociopath and had my brother killed and got away with it. His smiling at Buster is natural manipulation tactic. My dad did the same in court. It is appalling that you'd even smile at such a situation. A true victim if innocence if he was, would be hanging his head low, and shattered that his life's uprooted and the killer is still free.

He was probably confused. His loyalty lies with his family and now the only one left is his father. He cannot understand why dad did this but now Buster has to take care of all of the remaining assets, sell the properties, pay back the victims etc. He has to keep contact with Alex. No choice.

Defense had a hearing to state that all the defense witnesses wanted to be in the courtroom to show the jury they support Alex. Since none of the defense witnesses are “fact witnesses”, at least as far as witnessing the crime, the Prosecution didn’t have much of a legal basis to object to the request by the defense.

Agreed he has a bad temper like his dad and Paul. Paul was hitting on his ex when they were together. In the Documentary on Netflix Paul's ex talks about hoe Buster was gay and was with Stephen the boy who died and was found in the middle of a road. It was said that Buster was called by Stephen to give him a ride and Buster showed up with some other guys with him and they had just came from their baseball game. Stephen thought they were there to help him but it is said that they started calling him names and making g fun of him and then either all of them or just Buster beat him with their baseball bat until he died. He was then placed in the middle of the road to look like a hit an run. His family took care of all of it and the cops questioned it at first but when Busters name started going around that he was actually there they say the case was swept under the rug real quick and no one heard another word about it after that until all of this stuff started happening and investigators started looking into all the deaths surrounding their family. They are finding all kinds of evidence and very odd situations of others dying in weird ways while at their house or on their property and other situations. It is all crazy. This family thought they could get away with murder bc they had done it so many times before but its all coming to a head now and all of their skeletons are being drug out for the public to see. Buster will be the next one in court for murder over the death of Stephen. .

I feel for this young man. No son (child or grown) deserves what this one has endured. I had no idea who this wealthy powerful family was until I saw the HBO & Netflix documentaries. I want to hope that the beginning of the family was started w good old fashioned American hard work & intelligence. It would seem to this outsider (I live in MA) that the power, money & influence gained by a century of 1 family slowly but surely “poisoned the well,” so to speak, the sense of humanity within that keeps us grounded and at all times aware that human lives are valuable and equal.
On that note, it was despicable to hear that the Murdaugh family reportedly made zero attempt to contact the parents of the young woman Mallory when it was clear she never surfaced & was in the water. 💔 What mother/ father in that situation cannot feel for these parents & reach out to them??? As a mother myself, I found that detail particularly disturbing. It reeks of corruption & worse, a complete lack of human decency for the pain her Mom, dad, siblings & extended family were about to experience. Seeing Mallory’s father weep made me cry in sympathy….how does a human being try to run interference regarding “stories lining up” in the hospital the very night of the boat crash AND yet lack the balls to call the girl’s family??? What a tangled web we human beings can weave w our decisions when humanity has “😮left the building.”

It would be interesting to find out about Stephen Smith who was mysteriously killed near the Murdaugh home - allegedly hit by a car even though no car debris could be found and still wearing shoes. Wonder if the M.E. was being bribed to come up with that conclusion. Stephen Smith's family has managed to exhume the body and have an independent autopsy to find out how he truly died. I don't personally believe he had a drug addiction to the degree that he is playing it up. I don't know why he had so many pills on him, but for example today and Alex's testimony he talked about taking upwards of 130 mg pills a day. That this was an addiction that he was already knee deep in by the time his father, Busters Grandpa, retired in 2006. If that's true, and how can we believe that it is, that means for most of Buster's childhood his dad was on drugs. I don't know how many drug addicts you know, but I've never known any who for over 20 years never switch to a harder substance that cost less, never had a messy episode that someone could testify they were caught falling asleep or nodding off and so no... I don't think he was an addict and I think that's why his son wasn't aware. But I do think it's a convenient story to tell your younger son when you're found with pills in your possession that you were perhaps pedaling or selling to other people. And I think after you've killed your wife and sun and stoled from all your friends and co-workers, it's convenient to say that it was the drugs that did it.

That's kinda the point. The defense doesn't have much to work with. Alex's attorneys damn well know Alex did it. Their only move is to attack the investigation & prosecution. Putting Buster on the stand was to frame the Murdaugh family as this close, functional, nornal thing, when everything else points to it being dysfunctional, greed/power driven & image obsessed.
