Disturbed ARE a metal band and this is a departure from their regular style. The lead singer, David Draiman, is a classically trained Jewish cantor, which gives him the foundation for this masterpiece, as well as a totally unique sound when he puts metal distortion on it. Other songs of theirs that you might enjoy that are more similar in style to this are: "A Reason To Fight," "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You," (cover of Sting's song) and "Hold Onto Memories." Watch the videos, as they are all beautifully produced and artistic. Also, "The Light." They are not your typical metal band, but they do have some typical metal sounding songs, especially their earlier music. To me, this is one of the great musical/visual masterpieces!
Simon & Garfunkel's original version was great. But I have to say that Disturbed's version is the quintessential version for me. It just brings that EPIC emotion to the song. Every time I hear it I get goosebumps. One of the best covers of a song ever.
My interpretation of both songs is the Simon and Garfunkel version is a hopeful warning into how the dependence of technology has been dividing us and destroying classical forms of person to person contact. We are losing the personal touch that talking to each other in person creates. However the Disturbed version is more of an angry/sad condemnation of how we never took the warning and are suffering the repercussions of this lack of personal communication with each other and how we now seem more divided as a people because of mass communication through nothing but technology
Metal ballads tend to be powerful like this. And many lead singers have had years of vocal, sometimes classical vocal training. It may sound wild, but listening closely you can hear they're in complete control of their voices.
Simon and Garfunkel were folk singers. However, this version takes you way down deep, when your the most vulnerable and lonely. Very specific memories came up when I first heard this version. I had to shut it off and come back to it later.
Another metal/rock whatever you wanna call it singer you’ll wanna check out if you likes this one is Corey Taylor’s-Snuff (the acoustic version preferred but the original song by his band Slipknot is amazing as well). So many heavy metal/rock and roll singers have wonderful voices, and we are lucky they have started branching out in recent years to really showcase the talent they have
Shocker!!! They have a lot of “non-metal” songs. Even the composer/original performer Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkel) complimented them on this - he considers it their song now lol
Rock and all genres of Metal are so much more than just loud. I have an uncle that helped teach me to play guitar when I was a teen ager in the late 80's. He was a country "picker" and had a beautiful black telecaster. He thought metal was just playing loud and fast to cover up they had no talent. I introduced him to Van Halen, Metallica and Megadeth. He changed his mind once he heard them.
What has happened here you stumbled across one of the best covers by one of the best rock metal bands check out down with the sickness, vengeful one the light or almost any other song from them nothing else is like this
I like seeing people give metal music a look in, this is a good way to get started as metal isn’t just screaming like people think and the singers are very talented 👍
Talking over half or more of it is missing half or more of it. Your experience is cut in half. If you’re going to talk or comment, a pause is recommended. On restart, go back 5-10 seconds.
David Draiman was operatically trained. His voice is exceptionally powerful and his tone and grit are second to none. One of the best voices in rock and a brilliant cover of a beautiful S and G Ballard
AC/DC - Thunderstruck Jinger - Pisces Are a couple of Rock songs for your consideration. Also, Jinger is a band from the Ukraine. I hope they aren’t there in the middle of all that chaos.
If you want similar emotional songs from Disturbed I would recommend their cover of Sting's song "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" and a song the band wrote after losing someone close to them titled "Hold On to Memories." Good job, you two! :)
yeah, this a remake or cover of a pop song by Simon and Garfunkel. So this song is not heavy metal at all but they are a heavy metal group but you picked a pop song, ha. But this a great song and is my favorite one by them also.
This is a beautiful song but though it is being covered by a heavy metal band it is not a good example of heavy metal. I suggest Disturbed The Vengeful One or another of their songs. They are a great heavy metal band!

Oh my goodness the video speaks louder than the words
Beautiful lyrics! Thank you for watching
Pronounce every word perfectly!! That’s how you sing a song!! Talent

amei a reação de vocês gostaria que você reagisse ao melhor cantor do Brasil Gabriel Henrique música stand up
As expected from the first few seconds of this "reaction video", the song, words and visuals went straight over the heads of these "reactors"

Listen to the Pentatonix version as well. They are a fully acapella group with no instruments
Everybody watches things backward. How can people listen to COVERS without hearing the Original, first?
The volume is too low on the song, and too loud on your mic. Fix it!
Apologies!
Strange way to say: "Could you please change that?"
God is sending a Powerful message in this song to ALL OF US..... Let your soul show you the meaning .....
The lyrics are KEY to this song - please listen again and again with no talking - it’s heart wrenching!
Yes, it's annoying to see reactors talk over the song and miss important lyrics.
Please, KNOW the song, before giving recommendations.
@@woodysthoughts4032 Yes, it's annoying when kids don't know what they're talking about, as well.
Slipknot: Vermilion and Vermilion part 2 to compare how the same song can be done in different arrangements
Another great cover you should check out is Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince Cover) [Live @ SiriusXM] | Lithium.

Oh! Thank you for your suggestion
I didn't want to listen to it at first because I couldn't picture this song done in Heavy Metal style. I was pleasantly surprised!!
I like seeing people give metal music a look in, this is a good way to get started as metal isn’t just screaming like people think and the singers are very talented 👍
Surprisingly a great sound track even though it was heavy metal. Good luck guys with your channel 👍🏼🍀❤️

this is a metal band not a metal song tho.......try down with the sickness from disturbed for a real metal experience
Man...im 47 and the ride brings me to tears every time. Its just sooo true, especially now.
Also their LIVE VIDEO on CONAN... IS AMAZING
Amazing
A metal band, not a metal song.
Please react to Prayer by them. A metal song with a great beat and melody, not screaming as you all might think.
Great upload you should check the original by Simon and Garfunkel
Great song 👍 xx
Thank you xx
Beautiful!!!
React to DISTURBED'S... THE LIGHT, PRAYER, STRICKEN
Thank you for the suggestion ☺️
YESSS!
so great people to check out Home Free, Voiceplay,. Claire Crosby starting from when she was three years old until now
you picked the wrong song if you want metal. either listen to "PANTERA - COWBOYS FROM HELL" or dont listen to anything at all
Try The Vengeful One or Indestructible to get the real Disturbed sound.
Try Lincoln Park in the end 2004 live Moscow
you guys hear lyrics!! listen, then I will subscribe

We loved it too!
you need very much to do nightwish. it is a symphonic metal band. start with ghost love score. you will be amazed.
Yes but not the official video. Use the 2013 Wacken concert version with singer Floor Jansen. Always live with Nightwish.
Would love to see you guys do the band KISS “I Was Made for Loving You” music video!!!
