  • Derived from the fighting Monks of China's reknowned Shaolin Temple, the Choy Li Fut school is highly regarded as one of the strongest and most effective fighting systems in China. The school was founded in 1836 by Chan Heung who named it after his 3 teachers ,all of whom were Shaolin Warrior Monks.
    Mark Horton is a student of Doc Fai Wong, and has been a world level competitor and teacher for most of his life. In 2017 ,in Hong Kong,China , he became the first person in history to win 8 Gold medals from 8 different events at one World Championship.
    **This easy to follow video makes it easy to learn & practise the basic structure ,blocks & strikes online via UA-cam and perfect them at home before moving on to the Second level of YOUR training **
    It combines the agile footwork of Northern Chinese Martial Arts with the intricate Hand Techniques of the Southern Kung Fu styles, making Choy Li Fut one of the most complete and effective styles for health and self-defense.
    Choy Li Fut , 蔡李佛, emphasizes relaxed, internal power rather than stiff, muscular force. This is not only more effective in combat, giving the smaller person an advantage, but is also better for the practitioner's health as it develops the entire body.
    In this video the 5 basic Stances, Blocks and Strikes are explained.

    You can tell a good teacher by the precision of their basics. This bloke's technique is perfect. What's more impressive is he's obviously humble and down to earth. Respect.

    very well done. I like the direct self defense approach and application focus. What you learn today you can use today, this is what is missing in a lot of schools, application.

      This is what my school teaches. From day 1 I learned how to defend myself. I learned against other people. No pads, or bags, or katas (though we do those) , I learned to protect myself against other people who come to attack me.

    As a Tai Chi Practitioner am very impressed how much body linkage and power there is in Choy Li Fut! I always thought of this style as more of an external system, maybe I'm wrong? Great instruction video!

    He's a good teacher, slows down movements so we can see what he's doing. Is there a follow-up lesson?

    that was a forward leaning stance not forward attacking stance lol and your style is wide open ,like long fist with no cover lol

  • @jamesanagnos6123
    @jamesanagnos6123 7 років тому

    I think in a fight you last 3 seconds all your technique is wide open and one sided , insubstantial lacking strength and solidity

    • @hongyingsifu

      This is a very basic CLASSICAL routine for beginners and in no way depicts how I fight :-)
