Oddly enough, I set up from the heal and hit it out of the center consistently. I’ve tried all three locations, and that is best for me, cause it encourages me to come from the inside
If you come over the top, address the ball off the heel and in downswing try hit off the toe as you turn your right shoulder left through impact,- shallow attack, draw,no slice, perfect ball flight
I use to address the ball out of the middle. I put inpact tape on and it showed my strikes were towards the heel. I now address directly behind the ball off the toe. Ball in line with my left heel. Then move my club head back about 3 inch to let's say the bottom of the arc. My strikes are now right out of the middle with a slight draw. May not work for everybody but certainly works for me.
I have a tendency to hit towards the heel, so I've found lining up with my ball right on the toe helps me get a central strike. I also have had lower back problems.
My bad shot is I hit it out the heel due to early extension. I’ve found setting it up out the heel forces me to swing into my left heel rather than my toes. It works a treat
Just went through custom fitting and I was hitting out of the heel. Was asked to address with the toe and boy what a difference. Thanks for the explanation here bud.
i see a lot of golfers try to adjust toe/heel starting point to counter their drives instead of learning how to create a perfectly fluid movement. no separation/overly bent elbows, etc. i am not talking about people who have certain restrictions due to body shape, pain or injury. i am not even close to a pro but i have flirted with scratch golf for a # of years. the people i see that hit the ball exactly where they want it every single time(maybe not as far as some) line up with the club head perfectly centered, produce an almost robotic like consistency with their swing and the ball responds accordingly, EVERY SINGLE TIME. i am strictly talking drives here fyi. a good example was a good friends father who quite simply didn't have the necessary range of motion he once did. this guy was a legitimate scratch golfer into his late 50s. once his body started placing restrictions on a once perfect swing he had to rotate his body off target and line up with the heel to accommodate. if you have the physical ability to achieve fluidity in your swing, separation, drive, etc....do it. don't line the ball up to accommodate an error you can correct. you will thank me later.
tested toe and heel set ups alot last year i found toe set up was more consistant for me but will go more to heel if i want to hit a fade. good vid buzza
I’ve heard that often from pros from the past (70’s and 80’s) that they deliberately set up with the ball in the heel. I’ve now been using it and it works because I have a back injury (between shoulder blades) so my backswing is very restricted and inhibits the inside to out swing path for me. I play off 8. By playing the club outside the ball (ball in heel) it def helps me with correcting this. Nice to hear I was right!
I address it out of the toe as I flirt with the heel. Not sure why but I think I am probably raising the handle. I really want to work on trying to play it out of the heal to encourage a hand path that is more near and around my body rather than my hands getting away from me on the downswing
I have an over the top swing which I have learned to play. However I line up the ball center but noticed that I was hitting close to the heel. What or how should I line up my ball?

Finally a coach who is flexible to what works

This is the closest I have seen to where the ball has to start in relation to the driver face at address. Good job Steve!
I setup out of the heel. I tried every position and that’s what sets me up best to hit it out of the middle

I agree that too often golf instruction is too regimented. Good tips and attitude, I think helpful to most of us out here.
Love it.... I have to setup off the toe with driver and longer irons to middle it every time.
I do this now and hit it much better, is there something wrong with me?
I play it off the middle, but when I was first learning to hit a draw, I played it off the toe to encourage an inside-out path.

Exactly the same thing!

I use that setups to promote different shaped shots mostly with fairway woods.
I also feel it helps improve my focus and therefore the ball strike.
Hover the club behind the ball with driver, drop the club to ground, its off the toe.

Bloody good video buzza! Something I’ve always wondered! I set more toe biased and it works me with not really knowing why it works but it does!
Thank you. One of the best tips. Great job.
Thanks for the explanation, I was the one who asked.
No worries, good question 👌🏻

I would guess you are correct and raising the handle a little
Great info
You're blocking our view of the beautiful landscape! Good tips though, so all is forgiven. :D
