Man I need to know one more thing about it. It is flickable as a 600cc. I want it for track purpose because of the price but I don't want to feel so much weight on curves how do you feel the handling?
So, I've raced a CBR600 in WERA, and have riden the R6 and other manufacturers 600s and 1000s too. I think the 954 is a great track bike, but it won't handle as well as modern 600s. It's suspension and handling on par with most 1000s up until about 2010s models in my opinion. It's not bad though, you can feel the weight, but it's surprisingly nimble and stable. I guess if you were to invest in suspension it'd be nice. but I can still throw it around pretty well. If you want a bike to have fun on though, it'd be a great track bike. It's a blast to ride, and very forgiving power wise (surprisingly). The power is manageable in corners compared to some 600, probably because of where it's power band is
@@vettrackhero64 thank-you, I think it's will be good for me, due to the low price it will be honest to invest into a shifter and some good suspension kit. Hell yeah I'm gonna buy it!!
Thats exactly the kinda thing i like to hear. I have the 96 Blade. Ive tried to sell it a couple of times but i love it so much i just cant bring myself to get rid of it. Still riding it hard but now those little doubts start to creep in about its reliability, is the engine gonna lock up one day and kill me... 41000 miles so far. So its nice to hear some of em are still going strong in their old age. Have you been pretty strict with maintenance to nurse her that far?
Want a big trunk on a sport bike? Check out a p-series zx7r.. I used to carry two 32 ounce Gatorade bottles on daily rides and still had room to spare.
The legendary CBR954RR is now a collector bike. You're right, if you find one in good condition with low miles, plan on paying $6K to $8K for an unmolested 954.
So one fact that you had maybe a little skewed, this is the lightest of the 900+cc blades, honda made a 250cc fireblade, it wasn't sold in North America, and yes it was a proper fireblade. And it revved to 20k
Yup, great bike. Except for the shallow piston skirts, that will eventually result in piston slap. So if you buy one now, get ready to rebuild it. Not hating on the bike, I own one myself, but that's what it is
💯 piston skirts definitely a weak point on the engine. Luckily mine isn't knocking yet, but they wear fast, and replacement parts still run over $1000 for all pistons and rings
@SeraphinoII handled very well but was only as powerful as a 750cc.. 1st generation R1 is ridiculously powerful, better looking and generally more sought after..
I love the new bikes that came out recently, they are amazing. I would love to own the newest... but i have a thing for the 954 and i am not entirely sure why. I'm not an old rider that suffers nostalgia every single day, i just really like it ! It looks like such a solid machine. It has that SOLID BODY and it screams "i don't give a fuck!" Do you know what i dislike? Small bikes!I'm a big man and i recently saw some riders on the new Panigale and it looked hilariously out of place. It's a small bike! The dudes looked quite regular (around 80kg each) and they looked like they're trying their best to fit on a small bike. Rider on a bike is kinda like pants on a butt. IT HAS TO FIT. You can't just put on something hilariously small and pretend it fits...
You see more 954s out on the market than 929's though. But for sure the pistons, cylinders, and crank need replacing more often, and they're super hard to find nowadays
Hmmmmm....is that why there are so many 954s out there with more than 30,000 miles on them? They may have thinner cylinder walls, but they are not less reliable. If you have any issue with the 954, it will be due to not being vigilant and replacing the cam chain tensioner, and that would be on the rider/owner, not the bike.
The 954 is better in every measurable category, as it should be, since it's the successor. Much better mid range power than the 929, and much more nimble.
Sorry bought an SP1 in 2001 Twice the bike and holds four times the value or more. The blades were good but the 1000 class fours were all outsiders. A good race class 3/4 was actually far superior until a few years after the wsb capacity changes. To make things worse lap record speeds don't take into account the capacity changes. OMG it's a new record from last year's 50cc moped to this season's 1200cc. Seriously. That's like comparing a honda winner to 29 other riders on ducatis of which most didn't finish. But they got on the podium in 2nd and 3rd. Only joking but. Hmmmm Wsb from 2000 to 2003. 50% start of ducatis. Oh yes honda win!!!!!! Oh and again!!!!!!! Oh TT iom !!!! Oh various others!!!!!
Loads of people bothered, Honda sold alot of 954's. What they lacked in power they made up for in other areas, It was a great all rounder and wheelie machine. But with bikes like the R1, gsxr, zx10r etc as competitors it was a tough decision to choose one.
No no no no. I have a 2000 929 and my buddy has a 2001 gsxr750 and I can promise you he has never once out pulled me or out ran me. It's quite the opposite. His is nice a nimble but the 929 is far superior in every aspect

One of the all-time great sport bikes. And looks better than any of the new Japanese litre bikes....
it's the 06-07 fireblade for me
73,000 miles on mine!
That’s awesome! Mine just passed 25k hoping to make it to 50k and beyond.
Mines got 28k on it. 2000 929. Thing runs and looks like new still. Love that bike
70,000 on my 929rr
Still rides like it's done 10,000
Amazing bike & I've owned more bikes than I can remember in 30yrs riding
Want a big trunk on a sport bike? Check out a p-series zx7r.. I used to carry two 32 ounce Gatorade bottles on daily rides and still had room to spare.
Beautiful bike!! I loved that era of road racing.
The legendary CBR954RR is now a collector bike. You're right, if you find one in good condition with low miles, plan on paying $6K to $8K for an unmolested 954.
I like the way you hang off it when youre going so slow
So one fact that you had maybe a little skewed, this is the lightest of the 900+cc blades, honda made a 250cc fireblade, it wasn't sold in North America, and yes it was a proper fireblade. And it revved to 20k
Good clarification, I wish we had those high revving 250's here in the US! They sound amazing.
The 250rr & 400rr fireblades were amazing bikes. I bought mine from Japan, along with an Nc30 VFR400
@@tman5634 I own a 06 vfr800, the 400 were so cool. The north American market never gets the cool jdm stuff!
I just bought one for 2k but the guy had no clue how special the bike is
Yup, great bike.
I own 2!
Great bike, probably the best Fireblade however for the ultimate riding experience nothing I’ve ever owned or
i owned a 954 for 12 years and thought it was the shit... until i picked up a 1st gen 1999 R1!
never looked back.
What has made you so unhappy and why did you stick with It for 12 years if It was so bad?
@SeraphinoII handled very well but was only as powerful as a 750cc.. 1st generation R1 is ridiculously powerful, better looking and generally more sought after..
I love the new bikes that came out recently, they are amazing. I would love to own the newest... but i have a thing for the 954 and i am not entirely sure why. I'm not an old rider that suffers nostalgia every single day, i just really like it ! It looks like such a solid machine.
It has that SOLID BODY and it screams "i don't give a fuck!"
Do you know what i dislike? Small bikes!I'm a big man and i recently saw some riders on the new Panigale and it looked hilariously out of place. It's a small bike! The dudes looked quite regular (around 80kg each) and they looked like they're trying their best to fit on a small bike.
Rider on a bike is kinda like pants on a butt. IT HAS TO FIT. You can't just put on something hilariously small and pretend it fits...
It also states, but in a calm manner, "I WILL kill you if you do not have any riding skill." LOL
Posiadam taki motocykl i chwałę sobie 😎
Petarda maszyna
Leaning like you're on the track...reallly?
I got a USGPRU championship to my name bro, just let me re-live my younger days.
I like how your body is leaning but the bike is still upright.
All about balance, baby.
@@vettrackhero64 Touche', can't argue that.
Had a 954. 02! ! An 07 1000, & a 17 , 1000 RR SP. STILL , liked that 954 the best , !!
If you slow down you won’t have to fill up so often. 😂😂
The 954 was a bored out 929. It loses a lot of reliability and was somewhat fragile. No way it want a used one. I'd rather go with the 929.
The new 2024 1000 cc model is just 18 MPH faster. SO WHAT? Save your $$$ with a 954
I don't believe that the Honda 929rr is just as bad as the 954rr my opinion.
The 954 is better in every measurable category, as it should be, since it's the successor. Much better mid range power than the 929, and much more nimble.
I've had both & both equally as good in every way.
Splitting hairs between them.
@@tman5634 except they're not equally as good. Read what I already posted.
Honda CBR 954 RR Fireblade SC50, перфектна машина
Sorry bought an SP1 in 2001
Twice the bike and holds four times the value or more.
Hmmmm
Wsb from 2000 to 2003. 50% start of ducatis.
Oh yes honda win!!!!!!
Oh and again!!!!!!!
Oh TT iom !!!!
Oh various others!!!!!
That isn't good hp by today's standards like you said. It's the same as a new gsxr 750. I own both lol.
Great bike but no where near as good as the VTR SP1
If I could find one I'd take it!! That's one of my dream bikes
Vtr is slower than 954
I think 100K miles is doable on these
I really really hope so, I'm almost half way there
Damping. Dampening is making a cloth wet/moist.
Yeah it look like mine Fabian Gomez is stolen from me
Are you serious dude, theres loads of them for sale dirt cheap 😂
thats kinda subjective to where you live
I found one with only 8k miles for 6500$ lmao, it’s the very reason why I’m here
ditch music
road surface is awful!
I know right??? Hard to commit when it looks like that
Slowest superbike you could buy back in those days and that's why most people didn't bother. Still a solid machine though.
I'll take what I can get lol
Take one to redline then tell it’s slow lol bike is fast af
Loads of people bothered, Honda sold alot of 954's. What they lacked in power they made up for in other areas, It was a great all rounder and wheelie machine. But with bikes like the R1, gsxr, zx10r etc as competitors it was a tough decision to choose one.
Zx10r wasn't produced till 2004....
@@WD-sr8qz so it’s around the same time, What’s your point
I'll pass.
I don't know what ur saying this bike it was or still piece shit..a gsxt750.will out perform this bike anytime
I don't know what a GSXT 750 is, but the GSXR 750 is a pretty good bike. They're in two different classes in the old AMA racing though.
03 gsxr 750 has 140 hp 03 cbr 954 has 154 , there’s videos out there of them beating the newer gsxr 750s.
The 954rr makes more power all over the rpm range than a gixxer750.
Piece of shit? Have you owned or ridden one?
No no no no. I have a 2000 929 and my buddy has a 2001 gsxr750 and I can promise you he has never once out pulled me or out ran me. It's quite the opposite. His is nice a nimble but the 929 is far superior in every aspect
