Well, I had to save the best for last! I hope you guys have as much fun with this one as I had recording this one. I think I got up to x8 buffs you could toss on your units (most of which buff most of your army....) so there's definitely some WILD combos with these guys. I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on the Soulforged Warpack though, have any of you been running them lately? Did I miss any combos along the way? Let me know & thanks as always for all your support guys
Hi love your videos ❤ KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on . I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon . Along with having lots of content plans and already in the pipeline and also a Revamp to all social media with new header picture and profile picture from a digital contractor I sorced I hope to just gain more traction to the community iv came back to 🔥 Regards KitbashCarnage
Great video. Subscribed. I'm currently painting Vashtorr trying to get him ready for a game on Thursday. This video has been handy for helpin with ideas for a list. I'll 100% be making a land raider possessed turn 1. With most likely a warpsmith and helbrute next to it 😁
Get used to it. CSM were good, got to heady heights with their index of ~55%(!), got heavily nerfed, got some points decreases, got a new codex which was a major nerf and just received some points nerfs. CSM are now trash and points changes wont help. They lost ~20-25% power with their codex.
Thanks for your videos. They are great for understanding the detachments and what combos to use on what units. Also love your work on the deamon units reviews done previously. Your style is fun and infectious. After watching a detachment review I go on a painting spree to get them done so I can field them in my next Choas list. Thanks for the motivation 🤘🏻😎
Oh man that's one of the better comments I've gotten, that's badass to hear it gets you hyped on all these guys too hah. That's exactly the kind of like, mantra I'm trying to get across so I appreciate you letting me know
That's one of the better comments I could ask for hah. You made a good choice!! I've had pretty much nothing but success with them, hopefully you have some good luck as well!
Words couldn't describe how hyped I got when I saw we'd have a Daemon Engine army, it's like I'm building my army lists from when I first got into CSM all over again lol Also: good luck finding not one but TWO KLoS! :P
Ended up placing first at an RTT recently in the UTC circuit. The Detachments pretty strong, I think Vashtorrs worth it if you're running 3 forgefiends, the +1 str is a really nice breakpoint with the +1 to wound
Hell yeah man, congrats on the win! I plan to take them to my next RTT too, think you're in point w/Vashtorr - a lot of people talk down on him but he's a legitimate option
@@fatarchon He did a lot of work himself each game too, going to str 14 on his big attack was a nice buff and it's situationally really good that he causes weapons within 18" to become hazardous, my game 2 opponent lost a bunch of breachers trying to take him down
I’m a casual player and this is my list. (Note: I’m brand new to this game. I haven’t even played a match yet. Still working on my models.) Abaddon The Despoiler - 280 points Defiler - 235 points 2x Forgefiend - 330 points Heldrake - 205 points Lord Discordant On Helstalker - 215 points Vashtorr The Arkifane - 230 points 2x Warpsmith - 140 points Knight Abominant - 385
Hell yeah man! That'd be a brutally powerful list especially in casual matches so I think you'd cream certain armies. If I'm being upfront Abaddon doesn't mesh all that well with SFWP as you can get re-rolls for cheap but I'd worry about that down the line when you build up your collection some more :)
@@fatarchon Yes, down the road, I want to have two maulerfiends, another defiler, three venomcrawlers and another warpsmith. Then I will rebuild from there. And thank you for this informative video. This really helped me understand my army.
You got it wrong. Vashtorr only forces Hazard checks on ranged attacks targeting him. Although if a unit or a vehicle/monster split fires it'll force hazard checks on all guns being fired. So there's that. So he's less relevent then you make him out to be. But the plus 1 to S is not bad in certain vehicle to vehicle/monster match ups.
Check the note that pops up on screen ;) You're right though I wasn't very careful with my wording so I could very much see why it'd sound like it effects everyone no matter who they target! Pretty much agree he's not that great of choice, from a competitive pov at least. For fluff or fun, he's hard to top though. You're spot on with Forgefiends too - definitely want to save that ability for key moments & not use it willy nilly, dude is liable to do 11W to himself in a single turn lol (as rare as that'd be)
@Psykroids oh dude don't apologize! A lot of people do exactly that so you're all good :P Also: that's awesome to hear folks are listening to my vids on their commute, appreciate ya brother
Vash dats sheet wrong there and its only hazardous when he is targeted ?( it will effect that units weapons that may pick different targets however ) But great video, loving these love the energy and keep up the good work, thanks for the upload.
Yeah I'm still stuck with the index cards atm but I should be able to update those pretty much any day now. Think I mentioned in the vid but not everyone caught it You're spot on about his Hazardous & only units that target him too! I put a little pop up with an "editors note" but it's easy to miss (+ a lot of folks are just listening not watching). These videos take so long to record & edit sometimes I'm too lazy to re-record a section lmao Good looking out tho for anyone who might have not noticed those & tyvm for the kind words :)
I love the way you've approached this video: lore followed by tactics. The two seem to have been divided into two camps these days, which is kinda dumb because the game really is about both. I could potentially field this detachment, but I've only got 2 Forgefiends and two Venomcrawlers. I'd have to pad the list with my Heldrake, which is a shame that we have to be reticent about taking because he's one of my best paintjobs. The same goes for my two Decimators, unfortunately. I may find an opponent who's happy to face them, but that victory might ring a bit hollow if they did well. I got them within the last six months of ninth edition and I didn't realize I needed to hurry! There are so many more cool Daemon Engines in Legends, it's kinda infuriating. Technically they're fair game outside of a tournament, but I am not sure the player base thinks of the Legends list that way. Legends has the stink of illegitimacy about it, and I don't the design team intended that. Great food for thought, as always. I bet many, many people missed the walk through walls strat being for all vehicles. I know I did.
Thanks Sellers! Yeah I agree with you, there's a decent chunk of players in the comp scene who don't even pretend to care about the background or lore for their army / models which makes me sad because yeah, that's like THE reason 40k is as fun as it is! Luckily I'd say the majority of people do appreciate it tho & obviously you have others who are completely about that which sort of balances it out. I'd say you're close to have a usable Soulforged list. If you ever pickup another Venomcrawler or 'Fiend or the sort the would make a decent core to build off of. FWIW I got screwed over by the Legends too with my Decimators (& my *6* Dreadnoughts, think I have 3 Contemptors, 2 Deredeos & a Leviathan hah). Thats on top of my Kytan & Brass Scorpion 😭I was furious at the time & I'm still upset about it today. Luckily I have some chill friends who don't care but you're spot on they have a stigma to them & most people don't care for them. Wish that was something that would change - I think there's too many pearl clutchers when it comes to following certain rules from GW. Decimators was such a fun model so HOPEFULLY it gets a re-release one day
Forgefiend used Self Destruct. (Fyi you barely want to use his ability.) Because you have that risk of majorly damaging it just for firing ONCE on a single turn. Which worst case it self destructs. Bad case, it'lp be super easy to remove off the table come your opponent's turn. Best case nothing happens or minimal wounds. Which is still not great since Forgefiends are infamous and are usually targeted first because they're so potent. So make sure to bring a distraction Carnefex to ensure you can get multiple turns of firing for Forgefriend.
Just playing around, I found that Vashtorr, Warpsmith w/ Blessing, Cultists, Forgefiend, 2x Maulerfiend, Venomcrawler, + Warhound is exactly 2k points…🤣
Hmmm, 1k is a little harder BUT I'd probably start with something along the lines of: Warpsmith w/Tempting Addendum Cultists Mob Raptors (PF + x2 Melta) Bikers (PF + x2 Melta) Vindicator Forgefiend Venomcrawler Venomcrawler Venomcrawler Believe that's 995pt. The Vindicator can drop a Knight on its own once you boost it so keep him safe. Forgefiend is anti-everything. VCs skirmish up the board & keep your opponent off objectives. Bikers do actions / score primary. Raptors I'd either do the same or put in DS to come down behind my opponent You won't have much for doing actions so keep your chaff alive if ya can Hope that helps! Obviously tailor it to your style & collection tho 😜 I could see the argument for dropping a VC or the like & bringing as many Cultists as you can for board presence but it depends. Either way you'd be blasting most people off the table mwhaha
I keep theorycrafting to run Abbadon in a land raider to hop out and provide our iconless daemon engines dark pact rerolls… but that might have to go into a just for fun 3k points list
Great video...again! This is the detachment I am most excited to try out. I was thinking of adding a Noctlith Crown to early game help make those dark pact/contract rolls, just not sure if they are worth it.
Is a Noc crown worth it from like, a competitive viewpoint? Hell no. Is it worth it from the rule of cool aspect? Damn right it is haha You might be onto something tho. That's by far the best way I've seen to use it so far so good catch. Maybe it's better than I'm even thinking?
Well on cool factor alone it'd beat out any other option lol But for my honest thoughts, you're paying a pretty hefty premium for that rule of cool. 560pts is a lot when a KLOS is "only" 450pt. THAT SAID, the fact we have the move through walls is a gigantic deal with the GBSoK as otherwise it's almost unusable & will get stuck in your DZ (unless you reserve it, which you often should). It does mean you'll want to devote CP to it every turn to make sure it can actually get around the board. Even with all my complaints though, yes it'd be usable if not an MVP. People will have troubling dealing with it + everything else you're bringing along so I could see it being oppressive in certain match ups still. Is it the most effecient thing ever? No not really but that's not why we bring them along 😜
Man I thought I had found a juicy combo with Cypher using Soul Harvester since hes already going to be within 12 inches of enemies.... Buuuut Epic Hero and all that... Oh well. Still might run him and see how he does!
The fiend combo will cost you 230 points, because you have to bring daemonettes. Idk if that really qualifies as under your definition of "cheap chaff" lol. I think Feeding frenzy is too hard to setup to dedicated mass amounts of points around it personally.
Fiends are in the "fun combo" section hah :P & yeah Feeding Frenzy list is almost definitely a meme but hey sometimes we just wanna try something goofy yaknow
Decimators are Daemon Vehicles so they'd get all the buffs + the others you'd use the strategem on. With all those rules stacked on top of em, they'd probably beat most armies :P Edit: I guess if you were doing a tournament you couldn't really do Decimators tho some planes will let you. Still all walkers would shred

Apparently he even offered to sell the rights but GW refused :( At least if I'm remembering it right hah. Man it'd be so awesome if they brought him back one day (tho I so like Vashtorr)
From a fluff perspective, yes very much! They'd go hand in hand in fact From a competitive pov? Hmm, I'm not too sold but I could see the perks of not killing yourself over time + the 8OC. I'd think it leans slightly more fluff but still has some bite to it I guess
Lol, I've had GREAT results with my Heldrake actually! The model is too cool not to run so I couldn't help it. Really really hope GW would chill out on their points cost though! Soulforged takes them up a notch though, tbh I think they'd be fine in a casual setting
Were you talking about Helbrute? If that's the case, I like it because he'll buff the rest of your army / you can always make him a Daemon Engine with the strategem so it's not all *that* bad 😜
