Aloha from the East Side, I just ordered one of these on Amazon. Mainly for target shooting but also for 'iole control. Mahalo nui for the great review.
I’ve got a Gamo Swarm Maxxim Gen 2 .177 that I put a Hawke Airmax air rifle scope on. I tell you changing the scope made a big difference. I’m shooting dead on at 30 yards with several different pellets. Haven’t tried any target shooting past 30 yards due to space restrictions but I’ll take it with me to the range one day when I take my hunting rifles.
Looking to buy a new air rifle for my squirrel catch n cooks on my channel, this was by far the most helpful and entertaining reveiw ive seen on the gamo varmint air rifle. Thank you!
Good video m8 nice and informative and as far as dry firing the rifle, it’s absolutely fine with a modern air rifle. If you’re using a rifle that can’t handle being dry fired now and again you probably shouldn’t be using it at all 😎👍🏻
Just got mine yesterday, and set it up and finished sighting it in to day, shot a 5 shot group and got 3 with in 1/2 inch and pulled the other to slightly so opened up the group to 3/4 inches. It was over 40 years ago sense shooting a springer so think with some practice I should be able to tighten up to a 1/2 inch 5 round group. I was using X-sport practice target pellets at 7.48 gr. Also shot some Gamo Tomahawk witch I started with but did not think they were grouping good enough for sighting in with, they were 7.56 gr and Pointed hollow point, did give more penetration but did not group as good. So until I get some more practice in will stick to the Target Pellets, They are flat points The only thing I would like changed on that rifle is a lighter trigger. I did adjust it a bit to decrease the pull and seemed to help quite a bit.
I just ordered one from Walmart last night. The only thing I'm concerned about is the scope coming loose from the shock after a few shots. Hopefully that lock pin does it's job.
So far the locking pin has held up and I shoot it every day. The scope itself though has held up so far but I do see others complaining that the constant shock from the recoil will eventually loosen the lenses as cause rattle but you can always upgrade the scope later if or when that happens. The rifle itself is great though. Very well made and it’s gonna last for years to come.
Thanks for the video, use to shoot a lot of air rifles with my sun, but later switched to .22 Lr. and up. but now going back to air rifles as have a rat problem, Have the Gamo Varmint in the mail on its way, did notice that you were holding the front of the rifle quite tight, you should try the military hold, works much better with a springer. That is just letting the front of the rifle rest on you hand, it will tighten up your groups, Me and my sun were bough shooting dime size groups, With open sights, But now at 74 will be using a scope, eyes just are not as good as they use to be, so need scope or with good light a peep sight. I have seen some videos where they were getting very good groups with that rifle, so hopping I can as trying to hit a rat in the head, is not a large target. From what I have seen the heaver pellets around 900 Fps are doing much tighter groups than the ones doing 1100 fps, have not seen any videos where they are getting the 1250 fps. Also I have ordered a few different types of pellets to see what shoot the best. Going with 7.48 gr , 7.9 gr and 8.2 gr to start of with, and later want to try some 11.75 gr. When shooting with my sun years ago found that round nose or flat nose gave the tightest groups. But pointed nose gave the most penetration. Again thanks for the very good video.
SAT smooth action trigger system is a big plus and the auto safety after you break the action for shooting 🌠🌠🌠, It's definitely a hunting Rifle for small game and pest destroyer. Go Go GAMO ⚔️🐻⚔️
I just wanted to let you know that UA-cam yanked the rug out underneath me. They took my whole channel down, but I'm planning on putting all of my spring piston rifles back up on this channel. 😉👍
Thanks for the video brother. Would you recommend that Varmint .177 over the Swarm Whisper .22 for first, adult, air rifle? I do need to take down two Foxes. Obviously the Swarm Whisper .22 is $60 more. But do you think it's that much different having 10 shots on a break barrel, for another $60? You already have to pull the barrel down each time. I'm having a hard time deciding between the $90 Varmint .177 and the $150 Swarm Whisper .22. Noise is a factor.
I bought that very same rifle 2 years ago. We had a jackrabbit problem. Then some virus that kills rabbit took over and I never got the chance to scatter those brains all over the yard.
Nice video. It's really cool to see some content from an airgun enthusiast in Hawaii. I'm on the "Mainland"... lol ... In Pennsylvania to be precise. It must be great to have nice weather all year round for the most part. No snow anyway, which we can see a lot of. :-} I'll be watching for more vids now that I've caught this one. Be safe, Have fun, and Happy shooting!
Upgrade that Scope , that's what I plan to do . I don't dry fire mine , I would use the cloth pellets made for cleaning instead and it's always good to have a few ,💥💥💥💥💥💥🔫💥
When we sighted in our varmint, we had it at prolly 15yds. And it went straight through 3 1/4in cardboard sheets, and a 1/2in piece of pine wood. It has some power in it! I’ve killed a squirrel with it. It’s a great gun! Hopefully I’ll get the swarm whisper for Christmas! 10/10 would recommend this gun!!!
@@twistedyogert Not illegal at all as it's a non firearm. Many Air Rifles have suppressors on them. I have several Gamo air rifles with integrated suppressors .
I shot a gopher a good 60 yards away with the same air rifle. All u need is a different scope. I've got a Barska 3-9 by 32 scope on it, works bry good with the rifle. The scope that comes with it is absolutely worthless. But the gun is awesome
Yooo I'm getting into these I just ordered that gamo .17 one, I have the ruger magnum elite. 22 and man that one is strong my second one at walamrt so I cant wait to see 1250 Fps on the gamo in a .17 the .22 I've taken many pigeons at a distance and one duck I must say upclose I think it can drop a coyote I love these!!!!try the 22 from walamrt bombs nicely lol
Hi and thank you for the great review When you insert a CO2 cartridge, if you shoot it a few times when you insert the CO2 cartridge. How long will that inserted cartridge remain good if you set the gun down for an extended number of days?
Can someone please help provide the mount specifications? I've looked at numerous sales pages, reviews, specs, and youtubes, and NOWHERE can I find any reference to the MOUNTING RAIL. What are its specifications. At this point I can't even tell if it's Weaver or some flavor of Picatinny, or some proprietary GAMO mount that needlessly makes it complicated to install other sights like Red Dot or LASER, or even a different optical scope. (because of damaged vision, the fine lined reticles in most scopes are blurry to me, even when focusing is possible.
Just a polite reminder that "mine" and "mines" are two entirely different things. "Mines" is plural of 'mine,' as in land mines, and "mine" is possession..."that's mine." "Those are mines" is correct when referring to plural of a land mine (or coal mine for example). "Those are mines," meaning 'those belong to me,' isn't correct. At all. "Those are my mines" would be correct if you owned more than one mine though.
I like the gun but it sucks.even tried different brand pellets and still can't get constant grouping. Had to retighten scope twice .just expected better
And if you don’t know how to put a scope on a rifle then why do you have one in the first place, you gotta know about guns before you get them, if not you could be in danger.
I'm thinking about getting one of these and using it for a prop in a movie. Can anyone tell me if it would pass as a real rifle and if it has any wording on the gun that would give it away as an air gun. Thanks guys
Yes, I totally would recommend it for a beginner, but do keep in mind that if you never used an air rifle before, there may be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to accuracy because of the high recoil you get when you shoot.
Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.
Man, I love the fact that UA-camrs still talk about the company's history. That was really informative, airrifle rise and information wise.
Thanks for reporting the pluses and the negatives. Good review.
Thanks for showing me about this rifle! I bought me one and waiting on the arrival!
Excelent review my friend! Prety clear and instructive. Great description.
