  • Is there a difference in noise vanes produce? We tested 8 different vanes to compare the sound. Which one is most quiet?

Now shoot 8 bare shaft with that meter in same spot. You may find yourself scratching your head.

Awsome video guys! One thing if I could give a critique would be that your decibel reader shouldn’t be right next to the target because you’re picking up the impact noise as well. It should be halfway between the bow and the target to try and minimize some of the shot and impact noise. One of those were louder because it hit another arrow. Just a thought. I have done some testing with this as well and found the TAC and Heat vane to be the quieter of the vanes I tested. Keep it up guys! Awsome content!

Yes. Always put a decibel reader at half distance as to not pick up ambient noise from the bow or target. One thing a decibel reader will not tell you is pitch n frequency. Though something will register the same decibel, a hiss vs a hum is what the ear hears more.

Could you please repeat the test without having the arrow so close to the sound reader? Maybe have the sound reader out 20 yards and your foam target a little further…bags are much louder. A lot of the sound you may be getting will be from the highest sound coming from impact of the target.

Not a slight by anymeans but try putting the db reader life half way in between the target and shooter to eliminate as much of the target impact sound if possible no experience with a db reader I'm just assuming so take this with a grain of salt....

Keep it up! There are so many fletching companies and designs out there. Try them all and do some 4 fletch configurations with the lighter ones. I would think degree of helical and/or offset would add or take away from the noise also!
