Aaliyah is just a dependable truck that keeps on rolling. Thankfully we have at least one player to absorb minutes. I'm sure Dorka is not worried about more rebounds.
You could see the UCONN starters were a bit gassed late in the game, but kept up the defensive intensity till the last possession despite the score. Short benched... and a really tough start of season schedule.. and injuries upon injuries.. yet these women don't know the word 'quit'.
Given the 7 player limit it was perfectly handled by the team. They kept turnovers down and that helped keep the margin of victory up there. Aaliyah and Dorka were amazing. A few of the set plays were really beautiful to watch. Nika to Dorka and Lou bounce pass to Dorka were fantastic. Lou's pass looked metaphysical. I don't see how it was physically possible. The announcers were sort of stunned and didn't know what to say. On the less good side Caroline and Ayanna need to know that all the passing, running, dribbling, screening and so on is just to set up a shot. They need to see the shot as something separate and deserving of its own focus. It can sometimes flow from a drive/cut or screen to set up a shot, but usually it has to be set up and SHOT focus. They're missing too many close-in shots. That said, Ayanna is usually in the middle of a crowd and just has to keep passing the ball out to more open players. Everybody's shooting (both teams) was off some. Too much Christmas cheer I suppose. Next game will be a lot better shooting. Free throws to focus the mind and endless layups to focus on drive & dribble and then THE SHOT can help too. That was a beautiful game to watch for the methodical near-perfection at times play of the Huskies. It wasn't so flashy, but it was great. Remember, Creighton played Stanford tough. In this game they didn't look like they belonged.
Mark Hathaway, good analysis, but you missed a major point: Niki Muehl is the fast-break guard. LouLou is the shooting guard and Caroline is the magician who makes the set-up offense work. Be patient with her. She needs another month to get back to D1 playing shape.
Once Ayanna get out her head. And has that one good game, she’s going to be good. Her first step is quick then most who are guarding her but she just overthinks. Everyone is mad that she not playing how they want her to but she’s a freshman. I rather see them struggle and try to figure it out in the beginning than later and they pick up bad habits. You can tell at her high school that she just had to be athletic & big . Now she’s learning, each game she tries something different or attack. I like it. People need to realize some coming into college struggle and that’s okay. We’ve been spoiled with people being ready right away not understanding this is how a lot of freshman look coming in….

Most of them struggle their first year. Also, I think the have her in a weird role because even tho she can be a big I would rather her be a Aubrey type of role just to get her going so she doesn’t think she has to just dominate in the paint. Keep her moving so when the ball comes to her she won’t have time to overthink about her next move
Dorka showed a left-handed hook shot in the first quarter that's not only accurate but sexy. I want to see her with a left & a right hand hook. Moreover, I don't want to see Dorka further away from the O-bucket than the free throw line. Same thing with Patterson. Caroline is out of shape due to the many injuries she's had to overcome; yet if UConn wants purposeful ball movement from a set-up offense, they need her like a bunny needs a carrot. She's always in the right place at the right time. Niki has got to see a sports psychologist about her moon ball three. She can make that shot. I want UConn's big girls to bring 50 ppg and 35 boards. That's not unreasonable because you saw what Dorka & Edwards did. Moreover, this crew has to play Stanford. They have Cameron Brink, Jump & Prectal & depth. Their strategy will be to get Edwards to foul out. That's why Dorka & Patterson have to shoot & bang the boards for bunnies. Oh, I almost forgot. Niki, Dorka & Edwards were a force of nature out there. Niki fell & whacked her head on the floor during the last four minutes of the third quarter, then, she got up & drove the lane. That's why she's the energizer bunny. For sure, she's one tough bunny.

I think the turnovers were less not totally sure. Good thng the other team could not make those turnovers count. Edwards has really come into her game. So good to have Dorka back! I believe the bench is getting better. UCONN has a good bench just not the experience. Another win, YES!!! I have not found another team that I enjoy watching . UCONN is awesome!!
Azzi will have her knee reevaluated today [Thursday] and the next steps will be determined based on the results. I would say Azzi misses at least one more game.
Great game by Dorka & great game by Aaliyah. Game just showed if you take out the back court the team that has a front court dominates the team that hasnt. See i called out Dorka fo not having a good game last week, and now you could see why: she was so much more dominant. Last game was just a warm up. The team did have less turnovers but it must have been one of the slowest games of UCONN ever - they lost one of their most dangerous weapons which is fast transistion and fast rotating plays in the offense. All in all Nika didnt look all that good tonight, especially on the defensive end. When she started to take the ball to the basket in the second half she created a lot of opportunities for the team and herself, she clearly has to do that way more often.
Creighton had a terrible outside shooting night and couldn't buy a bucket nor a rebound. Unfortunately their offense revolves around their perimeter shooting.
I love that team though. Loved watching them beat the two Iowa schools last year in the tournament! Tough stretch for them but I think it will pay dividends come March (again).
Edwards just needs to play her game ONLY. Don't try being a PG - Not going to work. She creates her own turnovers. Other than both Edwards and Dorka had great game. We need that every game from both of them. There are no other BIGS on the team. Patterson is still learning the college game and Amari is useless..
Patterson played 17 minutes and had a negative +/- in this game. Think about that. A negative +/- in this game is not easy to pull off lol. She is shaky on offense and defense. But more damning is that she seems to be ahead of Amari in the rotation.
Patterson needs to realize she’s not in high school anymore where she probably dominated under the boards by simply grabbing rebounds and simply jumping straight up making easy baskets over shorter slower opponents. Obviously, Aaliyah and Dorka have been practicing on their moves with and without the ball to improve their game. Well, Aayana has to do the same. In this league, she cannot depend on height alone. She needs to practice harder to have an arsenal of different shots, and to move without the ball like Aubrey Griffen and Caroline Ducharme.
Of course she will. Everyone goes at their own pace. She'll be a good one. I can tell the way she shoots the midrange baseline jumper and her free throws. She will get there⭐️

The ref's this year are horrible no wonder so many are injured they beat on the ball carrier's arms and no foul . Then they never even touch the ball carrier and foul. And I'm talking about absolutely obvious ones. '

I think the team is in dire need of transfers since they can't aim high with such poor roster due to bad lack of continuous injuries!
