When breaking in a new ledge. You should spray clear coat on it first, before you wax it. I carry a can of Krylon Short Cuts clear gloss. It's small and discreet. A couple coats takes 15-20 minutes to set.
From a 38 year old , my friends and I were often the first to wax up new spots. The trick is to use a torch flame lighter... wax it / torch it / wax it / torch it / then one last wax and it should be good to go, depending on how porous the surface is. Keep up all the awesomeness! I just got back to blading after 15 years off, you are an inspiration... PS I’d love a new helmet 😎
Hey. I am 38 years old. I used to ride freeride. I came across your channel some time ago ... you inspired me to try aggressive - it's never too late :) I have Them 908 v2 with standard equipment. After a few sessions and a few bruises I invested in protectors. I still miss a helmet for complete safe happiness. It would be nice to have something from a guy who pushed me in this direction;) I am also thinking about replacing the liner and again I think I will manage your choice and go towards Reign. Greetings from Poland. Waiting for more movies.
Awesome demonstration of the importance of wax for Bladers on ledges. Skateboarders don’t understand how the sliding properties of grinding aluminum trucks compare to plastics. Gratuitous wax is the way :)
Best practice for a new ledge is to thoroughly rub brick it, and then give it a coat of clear lacquer/paint before waxing. At the least, you should rub brick it before applying wax.
I had a chance to break one in. Two actually :) I have used a simple pavement brick/tile and spent a lot of time rubbing until it was smooth. And then wax wax wax. I think it is important to wax wide on top, where your antirocker wheels will slide, or even more - if your front wheel touches the ledge...
beat me too it with rub bricking. You can buy the tough enamel paint they use for painting curbs and bank drive throughs at home depot. I painted a few rough ledges with that stuff and its awesome. Just wear an orange safety vest and people assume yer supposed to be there.
Enjoyed watching this and I know how it feels watching your hardware wear down. I've just got back into blading after a long break. Thankfully I bought new soul plates before I stopped years ago. However it's only been four sessions and I'm acutely aware that once they wear down it doesn't look like I can get anymore replacements. Then again that'll be a good excuse to get a new pair of skates I spose! I just treated myself to a new set of wheels and bearings, cuz mine aren't the best and slip at the edges regularly. So I'm looking forward to getting them on! 59mm which will be the biggest wheels I've ever had. ✌️🤙
I want a helmet! I love breaking in ledges but really only when my skates are fully broken in and already worn well. Thanks for the content Law. If I didn't have Aeons I'd buy some 50/50s like back in the day, but I will be buying some wheels and gear soon from ya.
Use a concrete scraper to remove the wax and smooth out the surface - spray clear enamel over it and then wax it, dollar store candles work perfectly fine :P Also I wantz a helmet :D
@backtoblading Law get a relatively dense rock. Put a good layer of wax down and use the rock the same way. Do that a couple times before you even put your skates on. Then wax it again and you should be pretty good to go.
OMG!!! Fresh Ledge... Been a long time since ive had the privilege to break one in, lucky you!! You're gonna have an awesome groove... Adtionally you need to give the Medium V2 a try...
I had the opposite experience with my new 909s, though I got the standard liner with the neoprene toe. I haven't checked the measurements, but they feel a bit roomier in the toe than the 908s. This skate feels great to me.
Greetings from the UK!, excellent vid as ever man, that ledge takes me back to my days off having to use any sketchy piece of road furniture we could in the middle of rural nowhere in Wales.. Good times. I'd love a helmet but no pressure, what with being across the pond and all 😉
Need to show the kids how to brick rubb the kedge before waxing it. Also when you are done with your review of the 909 you should try putting the sway soul on the 909 boot.
Man I haven’t skated in months, seeing your mini ramp at home makes me want one, it’s so hot here now in Spain I don’t think I would enjoy a session until it cools down 😞
@Back To Blading Hey mate🤚🏻. Watching from New Zealand. After watching a bunch of your videos I decided to pick up skating again. I’ve ordered a pair of Razors Shift Kirill Pro. I didn’t need to get a pro model, however this model was the only one they had in my size (13 US) It’s basically impossible to get any gear in New Zealand. Most of the dedicated skate shops don’t stock any blading gear. So I ended up having to order from Australia. Does 50 50 ship to New Zealand?
I need a helmet. I have a large head. 3121 west 11th st anderson, in 46011. Pretty awesome you're doing this. Also this video makes me feel much better. Got a pair of aeon 60 team xxi with them liners in it and it was very painful, can barely get my feet it. Just ordered a pair of these rein v3 liners and hope it makes a big difference
I’ve had to break in two ledges lately since it seems no one skates in my town anymore. But then again I just got back into it about three months ago. On another subject your 50/50 juice blocks are fast as shit. Just got some in today. One one of those ledges I’ve been breaking in I almost did the splits on my first frontside. Haha 😂. Anyways thanks for the vids and I love your juice blocks. Cheers
What size shoe do you wear again? I’m a US 9-9.5 and am on the hunt for the grey 909’s like yours but maybe with just the regular Them liber. How do you think those would fit me? I also have wide feet 🦶
Just get a Senate Sinister liner, lol, old school, did anyone ever skate that liner that thing was one of the few available aftermarket liners back in 1998. One of coolest looking liners tho. We need Senate to start making products again, would really like to see some Senate wheels and a Senate liner.
Hey I got a question, I want to get back into skating. But have no clue where I should order a set up from. Any good suggestions on where I can get completes from?
Depends where you live. But online is pretty good. In the US check Rollerwarehouse, Intuition, Oak City for the most options. Uk check Loco. Eu has a bunch!
Congrats Law. You finally got me to skip out on one of your videos, because that ledge is so terrible. You really do need a rub brick for your tools (but that ledge isn't worth the effort).
Shows how much u dont know about making a ledge skate. Most likely that will never slide well now unless skateboarders use it. U need to rub brick then lacker it and finaly wax it
i recently started blading again after about 10 years(im 27 yo) and i keep coming back to your videos, you are such an inspiration!
keep it up :)

I remember saving ledges like that for my new skates.. best way to break in a new groove!

Everyone get a helmet!!! Props to you Law.
You’re awesome dude. Thanks for all of your hard work and content and your positivity
Great message I’m 36 and just got back rolling after almost 10 years and i wonder how I ever stopped. I love it more now then I ever have
Rub brick the ledge!
Nicholas West and some varnish, and then wax
that and if you're really spicy, wax it and take a blowtorch to it so it seeps into all the little holes
That's awesome giving people helmets.thanks for all the videos and these 50/50 laces Im using are dope!

My kid wants me to have a helmet and I would love one! Keep up the great work
looks brand new to me!!! :-) i felt your pain, i know exactly what it feels like!!
i knew it ! all you need was to change liners ! now they fit like you wanted too :D

Welcome back! It’s crazy how big wheels are now for us old skaters. 58 is the smallest you can usually find
@backtoblading I will full heartedly buy those intuition liners off of you
Awesome looking setup with the Reign v3 and the yellow 50/50 frames!
I want a helmet! I love breaking in ledges but really only when my skates are fully broken in and already worn well. Thanks for the content Law. If I didn't have Aeons I'd buy some 50/50s like back in the day, but I will be buying some wheels and gear soon from ya.
I want a helmet! Helmets for everyone! So generous man 🙏🏽
Great video again mate! I've broken in my new Sl's and starting to build up the grind portfolio again!
Use a concrete scraper to remove the wax and smooth out the surface - spray clear enamel over it and then wax it, dollar store candles work perfectly fine :P Also I wantz a helmet :D
hey maybe the them 909 intuition Large will be slightly small than the v2 same as the medium was so maybe it wont be to oversized
@backtoblading Law get a relatively dense rock. Put a good layer of wax down and use the rock the same way. Do that a couple times before you even put your skates on. Then wax it again and you should be pretty good to go.
Now you tell me!
OMG!!! Fresh Ledge... Been a long time since ive had the privilege to break one in, lucky you!! You're gonna have an awesome groove... Adtionally you need to give the Medium V2 a try...
Ugh, I think I do just to compare the two. 💸
THEM maybe my next stop 🤘🙌

great video sir! havent got my aggressive skates yet but a helmet would be a start. i want a helmet!
i had the same problem with my intuition v1's way back when i got them. but i heated them up and stretched them just a tad longer and i was fine
Need to show the kids how to brick rubb the kedge before waxing it. Also when you are done with your review of the 909 you should try putting the sway soul on the 909 boot.
I need to buy one for next time
Definitely willing to buy the Intuition liners off of you, if you won't be skating them. haha
I put a sway soul plate on my them 908 and they feel great!
Got a video on the mod?
Man I haven’t skated in months, seeing your mini ramp at home makes me want one, it’s so hot here now in Spain I don’t think I would enjoy a session until it cools down 😞
Skate after midnight. That's the only time I go out now. Plus you have the whole city to yourself
Was sad to go back to the ledge and stairs I used to skate as a kid and find all the wax had come off spent so much time on that spot.

Bro, I feel your pain shopping for size 13. I live in the US and had to get my usd's from grindhouse
We do! We also have some product going to Rampant shop in Australia.
Back to Blading cool when I need some gear I’ll hit you guys up

You’re far kinder than I would be if kids were playing on the skatepark with a playground so nearby. And a little ironic - skating the playground.
I’m a really nice guy :)
i need a ledge like that the angle iron at my local park slides pretty bad
Did you ever try adjusting the cuff down?
Not yet. Next session!

Ouch! We need to put a warning label on them. Appreciate the support!
You should buy a rub brick then you can smooth out the concrete with it
What size shoe do you wear again? I’m a US 9-9.5 and am on the hunt for the grey 909’s like yours but maybe with just the regular Them liber. How do you think those would fit me? I also have wide feet 🦶
I’m 28.5 cm which is usually 10.5
Back to Blading and you’re rocking the mediums right? I seem to remember you saying that in the shop talk when you first got the 909’s
You “OWN” 50/50 or you own 50/50 frames ? 🤔 great videos as always!! 👏🏻👍🏻
He owns the companies 5050 and compass.
He owens 5050

I’ve got a pair, they’re not great compared to current liners
Hello!
What is the biggest Reign v3 liner that you could use in the medium 909 shell?
I use the 44 and it fits fine
$20 says we dont see the intuition liner again
I NEED a helmet
Looks like Mizzou is your go to boot trick? Mine was always a soul
Yeah. Miszou is always my warm up
I want a helmet. Great video like always.👍
I just saw a guy on Reddit who has putted SWAY soulplates on his 908. Maybe you can try it with 909?
Hey I got a question, I want to get back into skating. But have no clue where I should order a set up from. Any good suggestions on where I can get completes from?

How are the reigns great. I. Debating upgrading but hear nothing about why
Congrats Law. You finally got me to skip out on one of your videos, because that ledge is so terrible. You really do need a rub brick for your tools (but that ledge isn't worth the effort).
Lol, thanks for watching usually
@@BacktoBlading hahaha
Put some valo soulplates on the 909 i saw one dude on Instagram did it and it looked good dunno if its hard to do tho
you could have done backside royale !?
I don’t think I’d have slid back royale either
What would be the best Softboot Skate to get?
The only one I see people recommend is the USD Carbon
Thought you needed to power sand a new ledge. don't know if that's true but Ive seen people do that.
I need a rub brick. They’re great for this. Course I didn’t plan on it
I want a helmet
nice helmet would be nice
I need a helmet. 😎
Now I don't. I got a helmet and I wear it. Thank you for motivation
You can buy Gulf wax in bulk on amazon in bulk. most of the waxes skate shops sell and brands sell is just dyed Gulf wax.
thrift store candles are cool too
I want a helmet !
Y U NO RUBBRICK
I need one, apparently
I want a helmet please!
I need a helmet. god bless you!!
You need Jesus wax! I want a helmet
Best to use on a hot day. It ends up getting soft from the heat and fills the holes and cracks really well.
I want a helmet.
This is like the worst type of ledge to use lol.
Ugh, yeah. It was all I had.
Shows how much u dont know about making a ledge skate. Most likely that will never slide well now unless skateboarders use it.
U need to rub brick then lacker it and finaly wax it
Nope, it’s been years since I set up a ledge.
I want a helmet !
