loved the "PRO MODEL" joke, 100% true though, that's what a pro model should be, and not a painted boot!!! kudos on sticking with it (thanks for the unity BTW)
Don't be fooled by the aftermarket interest and cost, stock setups are quite often the best. You can see at 8:39 you're basically realizing this in subtext. It's more easy than difficult to find frames and liners and other parts that make the experience objectively worse and more difficult. When the parts fit like a glove around the model, that isn't cheating, it's good design.
I want to learn new grinds but I'm older too and I just hate falling! lol. It's a delicate balance, I want to expand my skill set but I'm happy being able to rip in my limited way and rarely fall. So big kudos to you for being older and constantly working on expanding your skill set. It's not as easy as it looks.
Killer shirt man, getting back at it after 15-18 years and really enjoying your journey since I’m relearning a ton of tricks currently myself, might make a trip down from philly to see some of these parks in the spring hope to bump into you 🤙
Random question, why don't you "utilise" more of the skatepark? It looks like you have access to some pretty fun parks! I did the same thing for a long time when I started and I still kinda do it, but I really regret it. I just practiced tricks on a simple box and ignored almost everything else. So now if I try to skate a more "complicated" object in either a park or on the street, i'm lost... I really wish that I would have practiced even just basic tricks on a wide variety of stuff.
I think it depends on the park for me. This spot I usually just skate a few objects, mostly to work on specific grinds or airs. When I go to other parks, I like to try different things.
Very cool! I seem to hope that Top Acid locks a left foot before a little more. Please don't hurry to lock it after I jump. I'll recommend to lock it by the timing which lands a turn. BS Royal is also same for that.
Yeaaah Lawrence !! It's Always a Big Pleasure to Wait and Looking Your Progression when You Ride in Yours Videos , Tutos and Tests ! Big Up and Enjoy Agressiv Blading, Lawrence !! Thx from Switzerland !👍😉👌
Looking good man.. honestly it’s probably the Skates. If you throw your VII or 908 on you’ll land it immediately but that’s not the point.. I know you can’t let the skates or obstacle “beat” you. The Jeans are looking pretty good. If I wore pads I would definitely want a slightly looser fit.
I just ordered a pair of adapt skates. Whats nice about those is their good out of the box. I was going to use Oysi frames but I heard the adapt frames are same fast cnc’d material.
I know you do royals the other way (so do I), but have you tried a front unity this way? You are between a top acid and a front unity, on the times you don't lock 100%. The different between the two is just that small shift in the hips and back leg/foot. It could help to build confidence in a similar stance/direction.
Back to Blading Looks wise I really like Salomon ST8s or 9s. For feel K2 Fatty Pros, although they were a little heavy if I recall. Otherwise I’ll try anything really :)
How is the ankle support on these skates compared to other skates like M12, Them 909, USD VII, carbon CJ's? Do you prefer raised heel skates like the M12 and Them 908/909, or flat like these SL's? How is the width compared to these other skates?
boom! glad you laced a good top acid after the last session. though it's still frustrating when you can't get them consistently. i struggle with t.acid on ledges of this size too.. top torque soul is always my go-to topside for this kind of ledge, but i get pretty sat down and low on them. i find being able to distribute some weight onto the torque foot makes them much easier than a t.acid. also, loving the baggier pants btw! xD
@@BacktoBlading go for it! everyone is different, but for me having that torque foot there feels so much safer (and more stable) than top acid or regular topsoul on the higher square ledges. it's definitely one to consider! =)
Question? i bought me a pair of these sl navy Razors but need want to know if i can take out them grind wheels and put regular 59mm 90a wheels in instead, kinda turn them into a flat set up without buying new frames.
I realise it's a phrase that's been around for a long time but I think it's a shame that we use the term 'cheater set up' still. If someone wants to put together a skate that helps with their groove tricks, power to them. I don't think the phrase is meant in an overly negative way, it's more of a throwback. There just seems to be so much positivity and collectiveness in this community, the phrase just no longer fits to me. I love the content and the message Law, this is just my observation!
swimincursive so glad you mentioned this! I kinda feel it fits in the ‘if it wasn’t grabbed it doesn’t count’ category. We’re not tennis or golf for example and shouldn’t be prescribing how people do things. Blading is freer than that, this was one of the reasons I was drawn to it over other sports with prescribed ideas and behaviours✌️
It’s a good catch, and I think I mentioned how silly it sounds on Gear Talk. For me, a “cheater” skate means it’s difficult to miss a trick. Like you said I don’t see that being negative, even though cheating is typically bad. I don’t like the FLT3/SL combo as much because the angle felt like I didn’t even need to get low. I feel same about most freestyle frames. My reason is I feel it promotes bad habits and bad style. But you’re right, do whatever works for you. Any skating is better than none
@@BacktoBlading I totally get that. I'm talking hypotheticals but it'd be a shame for someone who maybe didn't skate back in the day who's currently riding FLTs heard the term and took it to be devaluing their skating.
just changed to an antirock set up got some comments on that fact, but you look at the old frankie morales carbon iii they come anti, if that's his set up then I don't think it cheating its jus what suits the skater or what they can afford to do to improve their tricks. Remember back it the day when you had to take wheels off just to make space to grind?
Where do I up load my video I looked on the page but could not find it I was looking from my phone at the time.love the videos man found u because of 2qs videos.
I hate that it's always the back skate that slides out or misses on topside tricks. Every. Single. Time. It is the back skate. Man, so good when you get it, though.
@@BacktoBlading Hm, front foot topside - like an ungrabbed fishbrain? That might actually help just stalling it to get the feeling of locking in the frame topside position 🤔 I might do it myself so I can perfect topsouls. Ironically the topside trick I first could land was a kind grind. I think with the topside issue, is that it is too easy to lean forward and forgot about kinda sitting on the back frame locking in to grind.
when approaching your obstacle you are getting too close and thus over shooting the rear leg. pick a mark on the floor, try a stall if it does not lock on move either in if you miss the ledge or out if you over shoot. once you have the mark on the floor you are golden.
Curious about something. I try to keep my torso/head aligned vertically, and do all the crouch supported by my knees/hips. I feel more balanced and locked in when I remember to do that. If you try that, does it help with stability on your grinds? I noticed you leaning forward with your head/torso, and catching on the soul foot.
Back to Blading I hear that! My main struggle is not looking down at my feet. Remembering the torso alignment helps a lot. Some of that just clicked for me recently, so I figured I’d share in case it helps you/your viewers. Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing your progress and experiments!

Almost there dude. It’s like either your topside locks, or your acid foot locks... But not both. Lol
Keep them coming, Law!
Haha, exactly. So close. I bet if I focused on my topside foot more I’d land it, but that’s a bigger commitment.
I like top acid, cause you can really center yourself right over the edge/coping, and see your topside foot through your legs.

its weird when i was a teenager top acids felt no different to topsouls.. but these days it feels completely alien compared to topsoul.

Adapt look amazing, but a bit pricey for most people. The frames are very different than the Oysi, machined not molded, but I think you’ll like them.
