  • This bread made with tahini tastes like the regular white bread and a lovely alternative to peanut flavoured bread.

    Hi Mel, I just made your Peanut Butter bread and it turned out beautiful. I used egg whites and a couple of yolks and added 2 tablespoons of ground Linseed. It tastes delicious just with butter.
    Next I will try the Tahini flavour.
    My loaf cut into 16 slices and work out to 1.2 carbs per slice.
    I can’t wait to make a chicken salad sandwich for lunch tomorrow.
    Mel your a blessing to people trying to loose weight with low carbs. I have lost 4.9 kg already and it’s only the start of my third week on Keto.

It's strange to me that when I bake peanut bread, tahini bread, 30 minutes in the oven at 180° is far too short, I always have to ad least double the time... Best regards... Bojana

    • @CookwithMel1
      @CookwithMel1  Рік тому

      Hello Bojana it's great to connect with you...Slovenia wow!! Thanks so much.
      There are a few subscribers who found they need to double the bake time with my recipes...it just means our ovens are different. Your other option is to increase the oven temperature perhaps to 400F or 200C so the time can shorten. We both aren't doing anything wrong...I wish all ovens were the same. This is great. I've been looking for a bread replacement so I can have vegemite or avocado on toast. This does toast, but it burns so easily you really do have to do that carefully. It still doesn't really get crunchy though. Mel, do you think that if I slice it thinly, put it flat on a try and bake in the oven again for ten minutes or so I would get something crunchy like you would do with croutons for example? Has anyone else tried this? Also, I added more sweetener than you did, but the tahini taste is still very noticeable. Have you tried with almond butter instead of peanut?

    • @CookwithMel1
      @CookwithMel1  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Lianne. Did you lower the heat setting on your toaster? It will definitely toast in the oven thinly sliced. Although not sure if your oven bakes evenly. If not just place it in the middle of the oven and keep an eye on it. I would use an extract to change the flavor if more sweetener isn't helping, a tablespoon of Vanilla perhaps. I didn't try all Almond Butter because it's going to taste like almond flour bread and I'm more focussed on new things lol.

    good morning mel my name is Victor and I'm from Greece, first of all let me say a big thumbs up for sending your recipes to the whole world and that they are all wonderful and delicious, and then let me ask you the following question, how can you not does the recipe have any carbohydrates since the organic tahini has 10 grams per 100?

    • @CookwithMel1
      @CookwithMel1  Рік тому

      Hello Victor, thanks so much.
      For the whole loaf I used 256g Tahini which by your calculations means there is 25.6g total carbs. Divide that by 12 slices of the bread that equals. 2.1g total carbs per slice. Less the fiber which is 2.5g.
      It is only a guide and I always ask people to work out their own macros. So if you are counting total carbs then it would be 2g total carbs/Slice. My organic tahini equates to 1g total carbs/Slice. Hope that helps.
