It would be cool if AMD made the grille brackets and the recessed support in a kit to adapt to the later year trucks. Those are the only things that need to change to fit the recessed grille.
My first vehicle was a red 73 c10 with a white top!! In-line 6 with a three on the tree!!! It was about 10 years old when my Dad handed it down to me and I drove it through high school then traded to a Camero!! Bad trade!!
I’m confused you didn’t have to remove the core support to change the grille. All you need is the centre and out brackets for 73-74 and it bolts up lol. I just completed it
I remember in 1977 a fellow in the LA area near where we lived had a hideous 1974 red Ford Granada with a white landau vinyl top and it was like new. He stripped the car of all the Ford badges and put in their place all Mercedes Benz badges including a tri star on the hood-yeah real weird-

I'm very biased, given that the first vehicle I owned (40 years ago), was a 1976 C10. Being biased, I am completely baffled as to why anyone would want to replace the '76 grill, with a '73 or '74 grill.....or ANY other year of grill for that matter. If you want the truck to look like a truck of a different year...then just buy a truck that is the year you want. IMO, the '76 grill is the best looking one of the entire '73-'87 run.
We have the grills in stock 150-4073-1 or Chrome accented 150-4073-2 The core support is 150-4073-1 - the grille brackets are not available yet, they are in development
Never could stand either grilles. Most show trucks lost them and replaced with aftermarket tubed chrome with smoked headlight covers. Now that looked good.
@@autometaldirect Thanks for the reply! Love the 73-74 look! Great video btw. Are you able to send me a parts list of components to purchase? I started a cart on your website and added R/L fenders, raised cowl hood, 73-74 premium radiator support, upper grill mounting panel (w/o inside hood release). I realize I will need the front grill kit w/headlight bezels. Looking for any help on anything else I would need, I am ready to purchase from you guys!
yes blame gm for ill fitting aftermarket parts.... the gm parts fit fine.....dont get me wrong i like amd. but all aftermarket replacement parts dont fit as well as NOS or GM stuff
I really appreciate the comment about making metal headlight bezels not being cost effective. That was very straight up.
We try to keep it straight up
Not all of us are worried about cost.
I had a gold 76 just like that.
I like the stock grill for each year.
Just my traditionalist nature.
I agree why would you screw up a truck's looks and it's worth more original 👍
The headlight bezels had black paint detail for 73-74.
@@ronalddunn291 barely. It's not a 71 Hemi Cuda Ron

Gotta paint the headlight bezels around the headlights black to complete the 73/74 look.

Liking the 73/74 grilles more and more. Cool this video is out there
I made it a point if I ever bought a C10 I was going to grill swap, luckily I bought a ‘73 so no swap needed.
My favorite front grille on the squarebodys and if you ever need a hotwheels display, those grille work perfect!
Love the OE Paint Color!
Cool Vid!!
Squarebody trucks are awesome!!

Your comment has zero relevance to the subject.

I always liked the straight horizontal metal pipe grill with no badge. Those ones look so clean
Helpful!! Thank you!!
Thank you!
Beautiful Conversion!👍

My older brother had that same truck brand new.
You need the engine call out in the grill. 😀
We do! We make them but never put one on when we did the grille.
will a 1973-1974 c10 core support fit in a 1979 c10 ?
The core support will fit, you will need to change the grille and accompanying brackets to go with it as well.

Are you gonna do the black headlight trim rings ?
Looks weird with the 76 silver ones.
You can paint em.
Ya know its funny cause I 73 - 74 grill swapped my 78 k10 and didn't have to remove the rad support
The swap can be done without replacing the core support for sure, but we wanted to show what it would take to make it factory correct
Yeah cause the older supports had built In grill mounts i have 4 out of the 8 skews holding my grill in the 2 outer ones and the center one
Oh fun fact the 2 front marker light linses are orange in 73 - 74 front end 75 and up are white
@@RattleTrapGarage didnt realize that, good way to spot the different year models
@@RattleTrapGarage i think the 4 is enough to hold the grille without any issues under normal driving conditions
I did the grille swap but can anyone advise me why my headlight bezel and the chrome upper and lower trim don’t align and come together.I have a gap.
Does this work with a 80’? What would I need if I wanted to change the headlights, bezels and grill?
Just needs a battery tray and iner fender.
where did you get that grill logo from?
We sell them with the grille or by themselves. Here is a link: www.autometaldirect.com/advanced_search_result.php?filter=&keywords=999-4073&x=0&y=0
Is it available? Can you send part numbers?
We have the grills in stock 150-4073-1 or Chrome accented 150-4073-2 The core support is 150-4073-1 - the grille brackets are not available yet, they are in development
Now it’s not original

Can a 73 grill fit on a 79?
It can
Do you know where I could get an upper grill support?
we have one in the works, it should be available some time this summer. Otherwise, used is about the only place I know of.
Is this available yet?
Never could stand either grilles. Most show trucks lost them and replaced with aftermarket tubed chrome with smoked headlight covers. Now that looked good.
Right on, we have a ton of customers that are removing those old tube grilles, let us know if you are looking for one.
You didn’t have to remove the whole core support man just change brackets that’s it
Your right but we didnt want to modify or fabricate3 anything and we wanted to show off our new core supports at the same time.
Where did you get the upper grille support from?
It was a prototype from one we are developing. They should be in stock by end of the year
Looks the same?
Guess you would need to see them side by side, they're similar though
Would this work on a 1986?
It would but there are some more parts you need to change to make it work. You will need to do a hood and fender change along with the front end trim.
