    Thanks for the comparison. The EVF side by side was really helpful. A7c looks perfectly usable.

    Hi Great video, I am about to pick either one of these cameras, they are the same price now. Do you have any regrets losing the megapixels and only 1 SD Card? I worry that I will lose too much feature by picking the a7C, thanks!

    For filmmaking the A7C is better because of the new improved color science, focusing features, Flip out lcd, portable size, excellent low-light capability, and ease of mounting on a gimbal. The Riii on the other hand is still a great camera with a better grip, better photography capability, better EVF, custom buttons, joystick, and better image stabilization. So it really depends upon what the buyer wants.

    But let's be fair. If you remove the obnoxiously big viewfinder cup and place the f2.8 lens on the A7RIII, then the difference in size is not as great...plus you keep the more comfortable grip, substantially better viewfinder, and the 42mp.

    As I have a Sony RX1R ii with a superb 35mm fixed F2 already in my camera bag, so I have bought the 18mm, 45mm & 75mm Samyang lenses to go with my new Sony A7C. I think it is just wonderful having such a small full frame setup. I also carry a Sony RX10 iv with me for a lightweight compact long telephoto option. So much easier than when I carried 2 Nikon D750s and a D7200 with 3 primes and long telephoto zoom. I am far more likely to have a camera with me at all times going for the Sony compact options. 🙂

    Heyy I also switched from a7r3 to a7c
    and I luv it. After the switch I realized I really didn't need that 42MP after all!😂 I totally agree that every bit of weight really matters. It has changed my habit of carrying cameras.

    Would never sell my OG a7r3 for a a7c. Especially for flash work, the limited shutter speed with flash is the main factor and the lack of two cards which isn't a big deal until it is. I do however use my a7s3 for fun action shoots as there literally is no rolling shutter for video and images.

    A7RIII have 3.6 M dots while A7C has only 2.6 M dots. Actually a huge difference.

    Right now I am debating which one to choose a7c a7r3. For photo purposes and some video. I definetly dont need 4k 60fps. The prices for this two cameras are similar + - 70$. A7c uses evf from 6300 and screen from a7m3. Whether a7r3 uses better evf and screen.
    Is ISO that bad in a7r3?

    Nice review. Samyang's are the perfect match for this camera IMO. They may be cheap, but the quality is decent. I have the 85mm 1.8 FE and the 35mm 2.8 Samyang. May still pick up the 75mm 1.8.

    MP are a marketing gimmick and it really doesn’t make much of a difference unless you’re shooting for advertising companies. Most publishers will downsize images to fit proof and the other most common usage is for social and online. A7r files are huge! This slows down the workflow. A7C looks great! You won’t draw attention from people which is a plus.

    • @onlyonecannoli3952
      @onlyonecannoli3952 2 роки тому +3

      Sorry, but it appears to me that you have not shot with 42+ MP, because most of what you are saying sounds like rehashed silliness from 5 years ago when this sensor first made its way onto the A7RII. I own an A7RII and A6400. I have also had extensive experience with the A7II. The reality is that today's computers can handle 42MP files just fine and memory is pretty inexpensive, so storage is not even an issue. 42MP comes into the equation when you need absolute resolution when cropping or taking landscape photos (caveat, it also means that the sensor is more demanding and you need really good glass to see the benefits). If you don't crop, then you won't notice any major difference. But if you decide to crop a picture from 26MP to 10MP, you are likely to have an unusable photo for professional work and a marginal photo (in terms of quality) for casual printing. However, if you crop that 42MP to 17MP (same 40% of original as the previous example), you will still end up with a usable result. And that's the reason you want to have those extra MP's. So if you never crop or shoot landscapes and you mostly upload you photos to the web, then go with the A7C. If you like to have the option to crop or use crop sensor lenses and still get usable photos, and actually use all the buttons and dials, and also use the viewfinder to compose, then go with the A7Riii.

      @@onlyonecannoli3952 I work in news mostly, so having 42MP of hundreds of files to use is not workable. We’ve done it before. Much of my work is features led photography and having photographs loaded to lightroom in that size to editors is a nightmare sometimes especially with shoddy internet prevalent in conflict regions. Secondly, we work a lot with portraiture photography, so extra MP can make skin a bastard to retouch if we have to for lifestyle. Thankfully, we don’t have to in human rights based stories.
      The agencies I work with don’t need 42MP because of the aforementioned issue. We work on 16GB ram MacBooks with full processing power. However I’m sure the new ones are better at it just not pumping out the degree my crew has too. If you’re taking landscapes. Yes, I agree it’s fine. But when you in hot zones and there is a lot going on, it’s not going to work for us. The cameras were given are usually 20-30MP compressed RAW. Sony doesn’t compress there raw files which is another ball ache. My personal cam is an a7iii so I don’t have to worry. But for work, we use canon. So the files are very small at full quality. I hope that becomes standard for Sony too.

    What do you think about the menu button’s location and the menu system (compared to the new menus on the A7sIII)?

    • @voidwarranty1708
      @voidwarranty1708  3 роки тому

      I've never used the a7s3. It's identical to the a7r3. I like the menu button location because with the other camera the viewfinder kept flickering on and off when I try to push the menu button and now it doesn't so I like it.

    • @tsizzle

      @@voidwarranty1708 interesting... I thought the location of the menu button in the A7r3 was a bit toward the left side of the viewfinder making it much more convenient for left hand thumb presses. The location of the menu button on the A7c by contrast is positioned in top middle which in my experience has cause the exact issue you mentioned about the view finder causing the display to go out as your move you finger to press the menu button with your left hand.
