Jackie Chiles should’ve had a spot on the list instead of just being an honorable mention
I just love the show so much and I knew the top was gonna be Newman. Babu Bhatt is an odd choice. Never like that restaurant episode, one of the few episodes I haven’t watched more than twice.

I thought Estelle Constanza was so hilarious and was masterfully portrayed by Estelle Harris. My favorite supporting character.

Her reaction to finding George's condom wrapper in her bed is legendary. "I cant sleep in my bed now! I cant. I CANT!!!" LOL

Actually, (not to get too serious) but Babu actually an important character because his situation really illustrated the narcissistic indifference that the quartet had towards other people.... Even to people that they were somewhat fond of. They never really considered the consequences of their indifference to people outside of their circle... This characteristic was further demonstrated in the final episode where they laughed, mocked and failed to intervene in the carjacking / robbery.
Honestly, Newman is just my favorite Seinfeld character supporting or otherwise. Dude is hysterically funny and some of my favorite scenes in the show involve him.

I loved Kruger. The scene where George catches Kruger eating pie in the diner instead of working on “the big project”. “I’m not too worried about it”! Or how about the “…pear-shaped loser..”?! Gotta add Kruger!!
You blew up your whole list, footnoting George's Mom, Estelle Costanza, under his Dad Frank. They could each hold their own sparing with any of the Seinfeld main characters, stealing more scenes than I can count.
The start of the Jerry/Newman rivalry might not be truly known, but in divulging Jerry's actions with Gina to her boyfriend, Newman made it clear that there was one.
I can guess it’s the fact that Jerry makes a lot money “just telling jokes” (of course there’s much more to it than that) while Newman has to “work” for a living. Or he’s jealous of Jerry and Kramer’s friendship.
Most memorable other characters IMO are The soup Nazi, Mr. Bookman and Elaine's father.
I think another standout was the gossipy rabbi. He only had like 2-3 appearances, but they were very memorable.
Watch Police academy 1-3 and 6 and Friday 13th part for the actor.

What about Kenny Banya? He deserves some mention. Also, they talk about Frank Costanza feuding with Jack Clompas. I don't remember the two of them ever being in a scene together. Otherwise, really enjoyed the list.
Curious note: the actor that plays J.Peterman (John O´Hurley) invested in the relaunch of The J. Peterman Company, and since 1999 has been a part-owner and member of the board of directors.

Soup Nazi became a classic because of Larry Thomas's harsh, "No Soup for you!" Unfortunately, it was a one-off character and doesn't meet the parameters for this list. Of course, Babu Bhatt was also a one-off.
Even Seinfeld's supporting characters, with fewer screen time than the main cast, manage to be funnier than the entirety of friends. Great list, hilarious show.

Before everyone roasts me, I love newman's character. He's one of the most iconic and recognizable characters in all of television. These other characters just me laugh more.
Ruthie Anne is my favorite secondary character. She only has two lines but she’s in more episodes than any other character aside from the main four.

Bob Cobb, aka The Maestro, was only in two episodes. Tuscany is off limits to Jerry!

One small error, Jack Klompas never had any thing to do with Frank Costanza. Jack was a thorn in the side of Morty Seinfeld.
That minor (but glaring) mistake had me shouting "Serenity now!"

Newman was a jumper in the early seasons.
Where’s Norman? Think that was part of the DVD set, Norman Brenner was a background character and I believe he started appearing in season 1. He’s in a lot of episodes, one particular one he actually has lines is the episode Elaine dates Greg…I mean Craig with the ponytail. Norman played CRAIG’s English friend “Eeen”. It’s fun to look for him in episodes once you realize he’s almost always there somewhere.
Norman is basically a version of the Army Swiss Knife alongside the actor who was Jerry's stand-in (the name's Mitch) who played different on screen characters. Much like any guest performer on the Law and Order shows.
@@fromthehaven94 yep, that goes back a long way in television, the original Star Trek had several background actors and doubles portray a whole list of various crew personnel, sometimes even from one episode to the next you might notice the same guy went from working with Scotty in engineering to being a backup helmsman.
My absolute favorite one-off character was The Mohel. That's the kind of guy who's been having a mental breakdown since he discovered what genitals are and what they do. I cackle everytime I come across that episode. So damn funny! Seinfeld was built around the normalized insanity of it's characters. The funniest show America has ever produced.

The worst you can say about Tim Whatley is that he "re-gifts"? You must've forgot about the... liberties... he takes with dental patients while they're under.

Great list. Seinfeld had a way of creating zany offbeat characters that the thought of them just brings a smile to your face. One now: Babu Bhatt was a one-off character but somehow made the list. But if you were listing one-offs, the Siup Nazi would be a requirement.
I don’t understand why Estelle Costanza was missed: don’t just lump her with Frank. Also Kenny Banya. Also Mr. Krueger.

Jackie Chiles, the lawyer, was actually a parody of one of the characters on Amos and Andy, a scheming attorney named Kingfish. But who remembers that show?
That's a novel perspective. Johnny Cochran had become a pretty ubiquitous pop culture figure after the OJ Simpson trial and I think it was widely accepted that Jackie Chiles was based on him at least in part. .... I never heard about the Kingfish connection.
@Mark Allen Me either. Though it doesn't help the confusion that Seinfeld flat-out parodied the "glove" segment of the OJ trial.
"The Kingfish" was not an attorney, it was George Stevens' title as the leader of the Mystic Knights of the Sea. His scheming attorney was Algonquin J. Calhoun. Great Show. The NCAAP did them no favor by mau-mauing CBS into "disappearing" the series.
The actor that played J.Chiles(Phill Morris) also planned to star as Chiles in a spin-off, but the pilot never came to fruition. NBC executives have claimed that a pilot was never discussed with them.
I love all the parents, uncle Leo, Puddy, and of course Newman!
I feel that Bob Sacamento (sp?) should be in this just by sheer mentions alone. The soup "person" remains my favorite. NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

Technically, he voiced Steinbrenner in multiple episodes. But I would've liked to see more of Larry David as Frank Costanza's caped lawyer. Imagine a legal battle between him and Jackie Chiles!
The whole time I was ready to argue the list.... I honestly can't. Every time the next person on the list came on I thought how could anyone be funnier than them. How quickly I was proved wrong. Great list
You cut the broccoli scene with Newman short. The full scene was Newman was ordering Chinese food for Kramer. Jerry doors the broccoli and questions Newman on it, who tries to take his way through it by claiming he loves broccoli. He takes a bite, chews, and spits it out, exclaiming loudly, "VILE WEED!!!"
