I finally made it to Cuba! A country that's been very high on my bucket list, and I took full advantage of going there when it suddenly became easier for Americans to visit on a tourist visa. Cuba is one of the most fascinating, off-the-beaten-path places I've ever been -- and it really holds a special charm that I am slightly obsessed with. From Havana's beautiful architecture to the tobacco fields in Viñales to the lovely beaches all around the coastlines -- find out how many things I could buy with $10 in Cuba in my new episode of this series!

I went to Cuba and loved it. There were these little churro stands everywhere and they served the best churros I ever had. They were hot, there were a lot of them, and they were dirt cheap

Duuuuude, you got RIPPED OFF like a tourist, haha! That 2cuc ($2usd) sandwich is labeled 25peso ($1usd) and the coffee was 1 peso ($0.04usd!) Pay in moneda nacional and you can go much farther with $10!

Well of course there is a cheaper one, but for a tourist saying that the sandwich for $2 was cheap, he is not getting scammed, try to compare it with the ones in new york. For $2 you'll get just a small portion of sandwich.

I been to Cuba three times on holiday, and one time as part of a cruise , visited Havana 3 times (2 on day trips whilst in Cuba) and overnight stop on cruise, I remember the internet cards

When my dad went on business trips to Cuba, he brought them Cuban cigarettes as gifts from the Soviet Union, they were strangly hard to get in Cuba at the time.

Cuba has been really easy to get to for everyone for ages
you are actually making extra expenses. the best thing when traveling there is to get both local currencies, so you can be able to pay for touristic places and also for local transportation and other things.

That’s because it’s in the Cuban convertible peso (CUC), the national currency of Cuba is the Cuban peso (CUP). And yes, Cuba has two currencies.

Did the Cuba government allowed you to do forex outside the port? Because they have a different exchange rate for the tourist that makes $1.00 to P1.00. I just felt that its a robbed, your American dollar value for Cuban peso is pretty much its equivalence. I went to Cuba as a second cruises to ever landed in Havana. I pretty much discretely spend dollars in shops.
If you go to Cuba on a cruise they will take you to the tourist ports which will of course rob the American and Cuban pesos of their value. They make tourists coming in from those ports pay as if it were equal to American dollars. What I suggest you do if you decide to go again, is to travel by plane and then you can exchange. It's much easier and you're not robbed as much as if you go through a tourist port!
I will be in Machu Picchu in last week of August for my South America adventure. I would probably go back to Cuba when the hype is much mellower.

That’s because Cuba has two currencies, the Cuban peso (CUP) and the Cuban convertible peso (CUC). The Cuban convertible peso is pegged with the US dollar so technically 25 pesos is equivalent to 1 convertible peso.
