After a long internal debate, I decided to proceed with sharing this video. It was shot 4 weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine. I am strongly against Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine and I do not support this war. Thoughts going out to all of our friends and loved ones in Ukraine 🇺🇦💛💙

Drew comes across as disingenuous and naive in a lot of his videos. Doesn't do his research on a country, and invites people to visit some of the more dangerous countries he's been in. Doesn't give very much detail about the country at all. Most of his video's end up the same. He just comes across like a simple-minded tourist with very little tact.

While I agree with your assessment of North Korea, the man who identified himself as a North Korean was more likely than not someone who that govt has sent abroad to work -and is compelled to send the government almost ALL his earnings to keep his family from being imprisoned. And one can be sure that the entire staff of virtually any restaurant that promotes itself as 'North Korean' restaurant (instead of just a Korean one) also was sent abroad by that govt and has been compelled to send the govt almost all THEIR earnings. Few actual North Korean defectors openly call themselves North Koreans to strangers- especially living in towns so close to its border (and most do their best to put as much distance from North Korea as they can ASAP).

I’ve been following since your Snapchat days. I liked how you captured places around the world. Glad you’re good and safe, but come on bro. As a ‘well seasoned traveler’ you should know you can’t just walts into a restricted border especially one with NK. You know Americans are banned, and you thought maybe they will let just you in if you ask politely?? Rest his soul, but they literally killed a guy cause he stole a poster. I know you went there and as you’ve said you have this huge fascination with it but what did you expect to happen? Idk if it’s your US passport privilege that’s going to your head as to why you’d think you’d actually get passed or not get questioned. But aside from that it’s how you hype up and over exaggerate your videos. You’ve been doing this for a while now and honestly I think it has a huge reason why your view count goes down. You talk about your view count not being as high as last year but honestly dude, it’s feel like you’ve lost your authenticity. And I don’t mean this in a ‘you’re a UA-camr’ whatever, whatever kind of way, or bagging on you or hating. Just an observation of a viewer who has been watching you for years. I got detained once entering the USA JFK from the UK, taken to a small room and, spent some time being questioned before they let me into the USA. I think they thought I only had a one way ticket as it was so cheap or something.
Years later this time with my daughter, they let her straight through the US customs. To my surprise they asked me if I had been in prison!! My poor daughter was getting worried as she waited, they would not tell me what was the problem, it appeared I had been flagged up for some reason, they let me in eventually to my daughters relief, but still would not tell me what the problem was.

@@tokonio If you are visiting around May, then you should be prepared for incredibly hot summers in Northern and Central states of India. So I would recommend visiting the Northern Himalayan states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Northeastern states of India, like Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya etc. And you may also plan to visit some of the coastal regions of the coastal states of India, including Southern India like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha(where I hail from) etc, since the tropical climate would be comfortable during summers. Also the Western coastal states like Maharashtra, Goa have comfortable climate during this time.
Northern dry states which are generally hot during summers would be better to visit during the monsoon months of August, September, etc. The climate is relatively comfortable during that time.
So I'd recommend that take your time while travelling through India, and you may skip some places in your first visit to enjoy as much as possible. And you can consider the places that you skip the next time when you visit India. It is a huge country after all, so you may have to consider multiple visits.
A recommendation from my side would also be to visit the states and territories with an European colonial heritage and culture still prevalent in those places, like Goa(Portuguese culture), Pondicherry(French culture), etc. I believe you're Dutch, so you may also find some remnants of Dutch colonial past in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, though they are quite far from Indian mainland (but awesome nonetheless).

I always wanted to visit this region but I live 7350 kilometers (4570 miles) away, so I haven't got a chance to do so yet. The border situation was risky, please, be more careful next time!
By the way that was not the border, well you was near it but Khasan fully lies on Russian side, the Russia-NK border is actually goes on the river which starts after Khasan. But Khasan is a near the border town (border with NK), so you should have a permission to go here. I might be mistaken but even Russians who are not from Primorsky Krai need to have a permission to go to Khasan.

Pretty lucky it was the Russians that caught him, couldn’t of imagined it being the North Koreans

    What a clickbait title 🙈😅
FYI and anybody else who's interested : the border zone in Russia is basically a strip of land 5 to 10 kms before the actual border. It's everywhere in Russia but each region has its own rules. All foreigners need a "border zone permit" (even locals sometimes in some areas), it's very easy to get it, you just need to apply by email in Russian to the FSB office of the region (Google translate can do the job) and pick it up 2 weeks/1 month later in the capital city of the area you applied for (here it would've been Vladivostok). Oh and this permit is free 🤷🏻‍♀️ 👌

And I'm sure Drew's guides told him this. The temptation for "adventure" was just too much. I hope we don't see dumb people trying to do what Drew couldn't. Instead of making a clickbait title, he could've made an interesting video educating people how to do this trip the legal way.

We need to see Diana's (isn't that your wife's name?) reaction to when you told her this was a good idea and after you learned it wasn't a good idea.
