      Any chance you'll be sharing any HAKUREI TURNIP recipes some time soon? My husband and I love them and are currently growing a new crop in our yard! The tops and turnip are delicious! ❤🤤

    That was glowing praise from your boys about the vegetables! They were thinking they wouldn't be tasty, and now they for sure want it again! I definitely need to make those! Good for them for trying it, even though they thought they wouldn't like it, too. A little life-lesson for them!

    I still want to make nuka zuke, but with the having to turn it every day it is so mych work so I never did. When I buy pickles even in Japan I usually go for the ones that are vinegar based, like namasu.
    We eat a lotof salads in summer, as it is so easy to make. The only challange is that my daughter refuses to eat it is there is any kind of dressing on it. I used to just give here the raw veggies but recently I started to season some like the cucumber with to magic salt (I got a bag at the 100 yen store and want to try making it at home), but that on salad greens and top it with something crunchy like chrispy mushrooms to make it more salad like.

    Persian cucumber: per (purr)-zshe (hard to describe)-an
    パージアン is how I would say it with a Japanese accent! The ジ is just between ji and shi, if that makes sense?

    Your boys are so adorable. Don’t we wish we could keep them from growing up? I will try these recipes minus the tuna. I make my own cashew yogurt & miso paste. It will be interesting new flavor for my next family gathering.

    If no Mentsuyu is available, can soy sauce be used as a substitute?

    Would substituting sour cream for the yogurt make a more tart pickle? Or would it work at all?

    How do I prevent the salad from watering (too much)? When I prepare salad vegetables losing so much water, dressing is watery as well then and the taste is not good

    • @personallyjoua
      @personallyjoua 10 місяців тому +2

      Maybe use a salad spinner to rinse vegetables esp leafy greens

    • @JasminW007
      @JasminW007 10 місяців тому

      @@personallyjoua I think it’s the salt in the dressing that makes them lose water so much while waiting for being served. I’ll try this Thank you 😊

      Just like how I do in this video, vegetables which contain a lot of moisture, I remove some of the moisture by sprinkling some salt before tossing with dressing. For leafy greens, I drizzle dressing right before I eat^^

      Love that you reuse the yogurt miso marinate in miso soup!
