You just make it look so easy. On most cars from that time period, it is alot easier to open the door from the inside, instead of picking the lock. But, i do admire the skills required to do it.
The main question with car doors is how hard is it to use a slim jim down the window track or coat hanger between the door and body. I think very few will have the specialized tools to work the lock. The average thief will break the window or use a dent puller to rip the lock out. The best thing manufacturers did was create good electronic immobilizers (except Kia who still haven't learned) to help prevent car theft.
For the rest of us, we just use a wedge and a wire to get past the door frame and push the electric lock button on the inside. Seriously though, I have wondered about this sort of lock. I have an Audi with a similar lock setup. Love your videos
Some have sentimental value of their cars. Toyota/Lexus are built like tanks. As long as you maintain them regularly, they'll run forever. But especially for 99 thru 2001, don't lose your keys! Otherwise, the dealer will charge you $1,000-2,000 to replace the ECU . A decent locksmith will give you original keys for about $500, actually
Probably because it’s a luxury car company that actually cares about their products unlike Master Lock which can get away with anything just because it’s a name brand and only cares about the money. Honestly this lock is more so just a flex from Lexus to say that everything on the car is premium. Being able to say “Our car door lock that won’t even get used is better than the deadbolt on your front door and the padlock on your shed combined” is hilarious to me and kind of shows the engineering behind the vehicle.
@@brehella770that's just how good Toyota was back in the day. Hell, it was like that with regular consumer vehicles up until 2008. And then... Well, yeah... The only decent ones left after that were the Tundra, Taco, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, and the Lexus counterparts, alongside with the LC500, RC-F, GS-F, and IS-F. Those were built like tanks and still are. It's a shame, considering I could easily compare my 05 RX to a current RX and easily point out built quality differences and wouldn't be surprised if the locks were weaker on the new one

The robust wallet that the set comes in is worth the price alone, in terms of quality feel. Can't wait to try this on some of the old locks I've collected here and there in anticipation of being able to try this properly.
This makes me think, is there anything stopping you (apart from extensive modifications) from installing a car lock into your front door? We seem to have better locks protecting a $20k car than a $200k home
I guess you already know, but Joe Rogen & Post Malone talk about you in the their episode (44 min in) and that must feel awesome! Everyone loves your videos my guy keep it up 😋
Better than having you’re car broken into and or stolen. I’ve seen this this problem on several car locks now, but no normal person uses the door lock anyways, they just unlock it remotely. It would be better if it didn’t break if picked incorrectly, but I can’t blame the company for making a lock that isn’t intended to be opened by improvised tools lol.
Can you do a beginner series? Teaching topics such as type of lock, the main methods of opening locks and what type of lock they apply to, and whatever else you think a beginner should know? It would be really helpful thanks
Took a lot of complex working with the lock in great position under strong light and no noise. Doubt that car thieves are going to have those conditions even if they have the skill and proper tool, so in the real world, thieves are going to go onto the next vehicle (which may be unlocked) if they want to steal it or break the glass or use some sort of other tool (metal strip?) if they want to steal items inside. Impressed with Lexus' commitment.
It does make sense because a) luxury cars have budget to use great locks and b) thieves dont want to use destructive ways to steal vehicles so this buys you time. However even Lexus cars are still stolen... Skilled thieves knows their ways.
Just stumbled upon this channel and ugh, why is UA-cam allowing this content to exist? This guy is literally helping criminals become more efficient thieves, nobody but me see a problem with this?
A: Money. B: Because a rock will open your car door. C: Anyone with wedges and a rod can also open your car door non-destructively. It's kinda like putting an Abloy on a plastic mower shed on the side of your house.
Cost, and convenience. It's expensive and pointless to lock up a shed with a premium lock. Unless you've got VERY expensive tools. But most everyone can get by with a crappy Master Lock, because most people aren't securing really expensive tools. Likewise, any other use, you choose the lock that suits the value you're protecting. Crap? Use a Master Lock. High-end bike? Assa Abloy.
Love the fact that Post Malone commented on LPL on Joe Rogan Experience saying he binge watches LPL haha. Keep up the good work LPL!!! Even celebrities are watching🎉
Wow, that's honestly impressive. I've never seen LPL take that long on a lock! He had a specialized tool to make it easier, but it was still a chore. Well done LPL for getting in, but well done Lexus for having a lock that's so hard to pick. It's unlikely someone's getting into that car non-destructively.
You *really* need to get into that car undetected to go through the process of picking the lock! The uses for this would be upscale lock-out recovery and three letter agencies. I'm sure the standard trick of bending the door a little and inserting a rod would be far faster and more universal than this tool.
Tbh lishi tools and similar have changed the game for locksmiths. They allow you to be confident in what wafers you're picking since you can get visual and tactile feedback as you do so. It can be done without a tool like this for sure but you must remember there are dozens of different car locks that use different wafers and keys (most brands have at least one of their own and change to more complex tracks with the years). That chinese guy who invented them is a real genius.
Love how this is a wafer lock, and one of the toughest picks I've seen on this channel. I know he says the tool makes it easier, but it would be interesting to see how much work and headache it would be to do it without the tool. "Simply" picking them one wafer at a time seems like it would be a lot harder. Doable surely, but still very hard.

You just make it look so easy. On most cars from that time period, it is alot easier to open the door from the inside, instead of picking the lock. But, i do admire the skills required to do it.
Love your content for years now ❤
Thanks for showing all car thieves how to better do their work!!!!!
I always wondered about these kinda locks. It's nice to see it takes a decent bit of time to get into one!
0:57 *General Grievious pulling out 4 lightsabers*
Wow, I want one of these locks on my front door!
you could buy the used or broken car with the key, take apart the door lock and replace any door lock with it.
When the world needed him most he vanished
Did someone pick his front door and take the family? No update for over a month seems worrysome.
Those Lishi tools legit scare me how powerful they are
For the rest of us, we just use a wedge and a wire to get past the door frame and push the electric lock button on the inside. Seriously though, I have wondered about this sort of lock. I have an Audi with a similar lock setup. Love your videos
Lexus - When you want to keep your car.
We don't use Master Locks in our cars.
Who would want a car that you have to put the value of the car into every year just to keep it running?
Some have sentimental value of their cars. Toyota/Lexus are built like tanks. As long as you maintain them regularly, they'll run forever.
But especially for 99 thru 2001, don't lose your keys! Otherwise, the dealer will charge you $1,000-2,000 to replace the ECU .
A decent locksmith will give you original keys for about $500, actually
@@SuperAWaC Evidentially, 12,000,000 people.
Ha.. Luxus cars were regularly stolen from locked garage in a nice shiny apartment house i lived in. Trust me, thieves have their ways.
Kia - Master Locks are too strong for our cars...
This appears to be quite an upgrade from any normal door lock, why don't we use car-like locks on normal doors?
Probably because people aren't likely to pick the door. They could just break the window and steal it
@@Smith-if8sn well that makes even less sense, why would it have higher security than the locks on people's homes
Is everything okay? Haven't seen a video in several weeks. Hope all is well!
I just wanted to say i love your teaching and you are the lock picking king 🤴
If you don't post in 1 more week, we'll know Master Lock finally got you
Been a long time since new posting. Hope you are well, best wishes in any case!
Growing concerned about this unusually long break from videos. Hope everything is ok
MY BOY GOT A HUGE SHOUTOUT FROM THE JRE AND POST, LETS GOOO
Where’d you go?
The master mind of a person like LPL is truly amazing,
The designer of that key....oh my God!
3 weeks without a new video? 😮
What's it like to know that Post Malone loves your channel ? He was on Joe Rogan and he told Joe he loves watching you like all of us . That's huge exposure , good for you hope you get many more new viewers .
Hope you and yours are well LPL! We miss you!
A random compliment: I finally splurged on the Genesis set (i am a poor, it was splurging to me) because I like doing things with my fingers and your videos have been inspiring me to learn this extremely useful skill. The compliment: Even for a like $25 item with the basics; from the moment you open the envelope you know these are quality tools.
I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a car lock, would be more effective, for a home.
Because the 20k thing can MOVE smart guy
A decent hitch lock should help delay someone driving away with your double-wide.
Yeah, wouldn't want anyone to just walk into my $200k home and drive away with it!
@@KonarcoffeeBut somebody getting in the 200k thing can rob me of all the things inside, and perhaps harm or kill anybody inside.
This video is the ultimate challenge for a car manufacturer, and Lexus did a terrific job!
You can breach any lock it seems. I am no picker no locksmith but find your videos so compelling and you have even helped me open an old lock. Awesome
Did LPL take a break from YT? This video was his last and it's been a month...
I guess you already know, but Joe Rogen & Post Malone talk about you in the their episode (44 min in) and that must feel awesome! Everyone loves your videos my guy keep it up 😋
The bad part about this is that if a thief failed at picking the door you wont be able to use your key due to the pins being out of place?
Better than having you’re car broken into and or stolen. I’ve seen this this problem on several car locks now, but no normal person uses the door lock anyways, they just unlock it remotely. It would be better if it didn’t break if picked incorrectly, but I can’t blame the company for making a lock that isn’t intended to be opened by improvised tools lol.
Don’t worry
Thieves use slide bars.
Can you do a beginner series? Teaching topics such as type of lock, the main methods of opening locks and what type of lock they apply to, and whatever else you think a beginner should know? It would be really helpful thanks
Post Malone showed you some love on the Joe Rogan podcast. So happy for you love the content thank you
Wow - that was by far the most complex picking procedure I remember from this channel 😳
I hope LPL is ok. He hasnt posted for over a month!
Very impressive all around. Lock, picker, video quality.
dude, feels so good to know Post Malone and Me watch the same cool sheet on UA-cam hahah :D
Just saw that short too 😂
Took a lot of complex working with the lock in great position under strong light and no noise.
That's a very good lock compared to a lot of the locks I've seen on this channel intriguing 🤔
When you need such sophisticated tools you know it's a fine lock.
Wow! Could you pick this without the Lishi tool?
that is a good question
@@gabakusa Tool is just a force multiplier, it simply will be longer.
Un picking after the pick is something new. I wouldn’t mind seeing the guts on this one, I can visualize pins now but wafers are different.
I can't believe you picked Post Malone's favorite lock
Rogan & Post Malone: "You Ever Watch the Lockpick Lawyer?" So cool!
its been a month since last video, seems they locked him up and couldn't pick the lock to escape...
Very neat picking. First I’ve seen a Lishi like this. Thanks for the demonstration. Cheers
Wow, how come we don't see more locks set up in such a complex manner?
Simple - 💰💰💰💰💰
@@navret1707 Is that the only reason though?
A: Money.
B: Because a rock will open your car door.
C: Anyone with wedges and a rod can also open your car door non-destructively.
It's kinda like putting an Abloy on a plastic mower shed on the side of your house.
I was thinking the same. It would make a nice padlock.
I'm only here because I saw a UA-cam short of Joe Rogan and Post Malone. I am now intrigued by his ability
That was a seriously satisfying lock to see picked. 🙂
F*ck, i think Masterlocks hitmen got him...
Congrats man... Subscriber base is about to BOOM!!!! JRE. 3 weeks without a video 🤔
Wow, I didn't notice before, but seems like complexity of car locks are way beyond padlocks, even sophisticated ones.
Most carlocks are actually pretty bad. Some are good and they should be considering what theyre protecting
Learned of your channel from post Malone and joe Rogan that’s pretty cool man
LPL walks out of his house but forgets the keys to lock his door.
Also LPL : "Oh well, guess I'll just pick the lock close"😂😂
Wow, that's honestly impressive. I've never seen LPL take that long on a lock! He had a specialized tool to make it easier, but it was still a chore. Well done LPL for getting in, but well done Lexus for having a lock that's so hard to pick. It's unlikely someone's getting into that car non-destructively.
Wheres lpl?? No video for a month. I hope hes okay.
Was listening to Joe Rogan podcast with Post Malone and was surprised to hear Post mention he spends hours watching your videos.
It takes longer to get into a car manufacturers lock than Master Lock locks 😂
Glad to see the Lishi tools have come down a bit in price. Still waiting on the FNG to restock.
Where in the world is LPL?
Kudos on picking this lock, LPL. I could swear, that by day you're a humble lawyer and UA-camr, and by night you're working hard for the CIA.
You *really* need to get into that car undetected to go through the process of picking the lock! The uses for this would be upscale lock-out recovery and three letter agencies. I'm sure the standard trick of bending the door a little and inserting a rod would be far faster and more universal than this tool.
I'm sure, you understand that this is a lockpicking channel, where we come to see how to pick a lock.
Where have you been LPL? We're depending on you! Hope everythings ok.
Hey LPL long time watcher but I just ordered a genesis set and I'm excited to learn how to lock pick! Have a good day man
“Officer, I swear I was just following the tutorial!”
