Great GPU for emulation! I run one in a 32" arcade cabinet. I have every console rendering at 1080P. I paid too much ($100) for it during the shortage but I've since gotten my money's worth. I love emulating Switch games in docked mode. I didn't know it was capable of that for the first 6 months I owned it.
You didn't pay too much brotha. That card hasn't gone down in value much. And the TI variant is now at like $110-130. There's very few options for small low-end cards. Will be building an arcade cabinet myself 😁
as a person who uses this GPU since february of 2017 when i got my first true gaming PC, I think the GTX 1050 is bad and also good for what it can do. Can it run AAA games after like 2019? nope, don't count on it. BUT... It's actually holding really well with emulation at least! I played a LOT of emulated games on this GPU: be it Persona games, Shin Megami Tensei games, DMC series, Metal Gear and a lot more. I think when it comes to Switch emulation that's where things get interesting to be honest... I actually played on Yuzu at first but when i heard about ryujinx i tested it out and... well? Many games run a lot better on it actually... I struggled to even open Shin Megami Tensei V on Yuzu... but Ryujinx? easy peasy 1080p 60 FPS with even few mods installed. I only use Yuzu for TOTK right now since it's better for TOTK but i struggle a lot (a lot of lag when trying to switch from menus like attaching things to an arrow or using abilities or just going to menu and also a LOT of crashes and weird things like crashing every time trying to go from depths to surface through teleportation...) but most likely it's because i only still have 8gb of RAM, but i will upgrade next week to 2x8GB with 3600MHz instead of 8GB with 2400MHz. Thank you for sharing your story and all your experience with the GTX 1050. I couldn't play many games on it, but the few I tried worked well. I even played Resident Evil Revelations 2, Borderlands 3, and older games like Diablo 3, and they all ran perfectly on it.
@@OmarTMK2 I used an i5-7400 but gave it to my sister so she could play with her friends and bought myself a i3-10100f that I use now, it's about 15% better than that i5-7400 I used before, but both worked great!
I have had this GPU for a while now and can emulate rpcs3 with no problems. It's weird that you had crashes when you tested GoW3 because I ran the game with no issues, achieving 60 fps most of the time. "I've also tested Zelda Totk, and in the first area I got about 50 to 60 fps on average. although, to be clear i've upgraded my CPU to the Ryzen 5 7600. With my older CPU, theres no way my results would be even close.

I have a laptop with 16gb ddr4 , 1050 4gb (non ti, it is a normal 1050 but with 4gb) and a i5 8300h. Do you think it is good enough to emulate without problems? I think it can pull off up to switch pretty good but What about ps3?, could it pull off emulating at native ps3 resolution or does it need to be 720p for more chances to do it?
Native PS3 is 720p most of the time, occasionally even dropping to 600p in some titles. Only less demanding games run natively at 1080p, so it should be fine for the most part.
I still can't get Tears of the Kingdom to run with my specs. There's this "Ganondorf cutscene crash" issue that I've seen, which I'm also experiencing, but even loading a file after the cutscene (just into the overworld), the game still crashes. It crashes with any settings on Ryujinx, and crashes on Yuzu using Vulkan. Yuzu on OpenGL does load, but with very low performance. Playing the opening scene of TotK (before encountering Ganondorf), the game runs stable on Yuzu with Vulkan on native 30 FPS.
The GTX 960 can handle most games at 60FPS in Full HD, but it may require specific drivers. When I had my GTX 970, I had to downgrade the GPU driver, which is a chronic issue with Yuzu that hasn't been fixed since 2021.

The PC port, despite receiving numerous improvements, is still poorly optimized. To run it at maximum settings, you would need 12GB of VRAM, and even then, the minimum settings result in a less visually appealing experience compared to the RPCS3 version. On the other hand, the framerate in RPCS3 is generally low, making the game unplayable in many parts, with FPS dropping below 20 unless you have a top-of-the-line processor like an Intel 12th or 13th generation.
@@AlexwpiGame i bet this is not that demanding but this is the only emulator that optimizing for the gpu usage and it's a good thing. RDR1 runs on my rtx 2060s with 80 fps in 2k

I have had this GPU for a while now and can emulate rpcs3 with no problems. It's weird that you had crashes when you tested GoW3 because I ran the game with no issues, achieving 60 fps most of the time. Use Also use fbo vulkan vsync and set internal display resolution on Xenia canary config to 0. I get 50-60 fps sonic unleashed with this on 1355u

In my experience most emulators are cpu bound, about 70% cpu, 30% gpu.

@SaMuEl-ko5jk No, GoW 3 will require at least a 12th gen i5 with AVX512 support. Not even my PC is capable of running GoW 3 at a stable 30 FPS.
Emulation is not a gpu thing so this video doesn't make the least of sense...
Actually you would get the exact same results with a RTX 4090...

It appears that the only emulayor that require a decent gpu is Xenia
In the current optimization state, Xenia Canary is the most demanding emulator we have, until FPSS4 starts running 3D games.
