Colnago Master & Campagnolo Record NEO RETRO BUILD

  • Today's build will be completely different from what you are used to on our channel because it is NEO RETRO. Let me introduce an old school steel Colnago frame and a brand new twelve speed Campagnolo Record group. By the way, the frame is never ridden and never assembled. In addition, the owner bought a Colnago Star fork in a unique team design for an unbelievable bucks... This time I will skip the comments while assembling the bike and let you enjoy this beautiful dream build in peace, when the world was alright and you could not ride anything better than Colnago and Campagnolo!
Dnešní stavba bude úplně jiná než jste na našem kanálu zvyklí, je to NEO RETRO: oldschool ocelový Colnago rám a úplně nová dvanáctirychlostní sada Campagnolo Record. Mimochodem rám je nejetý a nikdy neosazený. Navíc si majitel za neskutečnou ránu přikoupil vidlici Colnago Star v jedinečném týmovem designu… Tentokrát vynechám komentáře během skládání kola a nechám Vás si v klidu užít tento závan starých dobrých časů, kdy svět byl ještě v pořádku a nic lepšího než Colnago a Campagnolo se nedalo jezdit.

    Lovely bike and build. Chapeau.
Neo Retro is the way to keep classic old frames in use instead of as wall art / museum collection pieces.
I have a 90's De Bernardi Columbus SL frame with all chrome rear triangle and fork finished in the same Mapei blue seen here. Absolutely stunning to look at, but even better to ride. Cost me approx £500 to build.
10 speed Ultegra (silver) compact groupset, Deda compact bar / stem combo, Mavic SL Helium wheels. Weighs 8.9kg and rides as well as my modern carbon bike.
The modern components allow me to use it in the extremely hilly area where I live (Peak District England) as i am 64 now and need all the help I can get !
More Neo Retro's please. Build a bike to use, not just to look at.

Beautiful bike. That’s how a road bike should look like. No deep carbon rims, rimbrakes and mechanical shifting. An non of the service unfriendly integration in the front end. Thank for the build. Looking forward to more of this stuff.

I like modern bikes. But my experience with carbon fiber has been universally bad. I am a cripple because a first-generation carbon fiber fork broke in half, dropping me on my forehead. A friend had his Colnago C40 have the entire head tube fall off, breaking his fingers. His right index finger on had to be removed. Try writing that way. While descending a two mile drop, my C40 started steering itself, took me off the road, and finally into a concrete drain. All over the web are pictures of broken carbon fiber, and most of them are top line makes. Competently made steel has almost an infinite lifetime

Very nice build. If I really felt the need, I would re-equip at least one of my Masters to a fully modern group set. I think that the Master frame is every bit as relevant today as it was in 1983.

I have returned to steel because of the ride. My Moser Leader AX weighs only 1 1/2 lbs more than the Trek Madone I sold to get the Moser. The ride is twice as good and I don't have to worry about steel breaking without warning.

Bravo !!! The RIGHT CHOICE ! The most beautiful telaio i !!! Master with Mapei color. And with the right choice for equipment, Campagnolo. Only 5 mistakes for me: pedals. As Campagnolo doesn't produce them anymore, you should replace these shimano by LOOK pedals yellow or rosso. + saddle stem & headset, DEDDA, you should put in white color . The saddle in blue. And with blue ribbon bike.
But , you have a fantastic bicycle !
I have 5 Colnago. And the most beautiful bicycle of ever, for me, the fabulous Colnago dream plus LAMPRE Color with silver Campagnolo equipment + 2000' Campagnolo pedals !

  • @kevinfrost1579
    @kevinfrost1579 Рік тому +2

Another great job. I hope the owner is enjoying every ride as it’s put together to the highest competence 👏👏👏. For me the big two questions in restoration projects always seem to be (1) original paint , touch in restore or if paint is poor full repaint faithful copy and (2) If neo-retro what componentry ? That’s got more difficult recently with the latest Campagnolo group sets with 4 arm spider (I prefer older 5 arm) and availability only in new solid shape and black colour only for 12 spd, so tricky. I can see why this bike has black headset cups.
Always thought the black coded forks were an odd manufacturing choice by Colnago on mainly white / blue coded frames (Colnago master USA 1996 paint is another example). So for me Precisa forks custom painted to match the frame, chrome headset cups, Chrome aero record seatpost, white bar tape (even though not best for riding) would be personal touches I would choose. But we all see different things in bikes which is part of the joy and if it makes us smile that is one of the best bits of being its owner. So congratulations to both a great bike there. Chapeau 👍

I’m enjoying the bike so far ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
