Yes, you are making me hungry and is only 9ish (I am on the same time zone as China) in the morning and I just had breakfast. Good to see everyone enjoying themselves.
I'm in Chengdu, downstairs we can find hotpot restaurant, but I'm sick, throat has a lot of pain, the video made me wanna go downstairs to order a table of hotpot... Being a chengduer, I prefer eating Chongqing Hotpot... Chengdu and Chongqing Hotpot are both good though.
Truly beautiful. The food, people, & culture are amazing. More than that, it's how generous & kind are some of these chongqing people when hosting Caucasians. I just dont understand why with such generosity, we still have to make these people as our next enemy. What gives?
@@JaYoeNation rained a lot but got above the weather around 2500m. Pretty spectacular looking down at clouds from above. Massive Golden Elephant temple at the top just above 3000m. Worthwhile especially with all the roast pork and sweet potatoes and corn on the way.
1:50 when she's explaining about the grid in the hot pot, I'm thinking that when you have an "open" hot pot, stuff gets away from you sometimes and your clever friends will eat your stuff if they can! Maybe it's just MY friends. Anyway, looks amazing, hard to imagine a KETTLE full of hot oil to cook in, if that's what we're seeing here? I make different kinds of hot pot, but they're always based on broth of some kind, or occasionally just water. This is another level!
Hotpot here in Chongqing is no longer for poor people anymore'; as you can see, if you don't have money, you can simply walk in and order a hotpot meal.
people who don't eat stuff like these don't know what they're missing out. Yes, it might looks gross and unsavoury the first few times you have it. But, after a while, you'll get used to it. And before long, you'll be addicted.
I tend to agree except for one thing: chicken fingers. Don't get me wrong, I grew up witnessing people eating chicken fingers but never got to try myself until many years later in my life but still think they are gross and refuse to eat them again. My problem is that they are my wife's favorite, when she is eating those what she thinks special treats, I feel like she is munching human fingers, and I get grossed out, every single time.
I hate this video, but still have to give a thumbs up... You're making me very jealous being able to go out and enjoy all the food and travel while I'm stuck at home in lockdown.
Love Alex's comment... "Health and safety is number two right after getting the shot." Interesting vlog... now I'm going to have to see if I can try hot pot... vegan style.
Matt, sir... may i ask something .... this vid is recorded after or before Chongqing flood that u guys live streamed a while ago... at first i thought it's before, but the last minute of this vid make me confuse about the timeline
@@JaYoeNation The confusion is, How did you know how high the flooding was in ChongQing if you were there before the flooding occurred. At the end of the video you indicate the flood level. Did you go back to ChongQing after the flooding? or were you there before during and after the flooding
I know it’s a bit confusing. There was the big flooding towards the end of July. I came on my trip after that. I made some live-streams while I was there. Those are the first you might have seen. Then I finished with iChongqing and went to the 3 gorges dam. I prioritized those videos because the dam was in the news. When I left I kept in contact with my friends at iChongqing and the second flood period came. It was a bit of a surprise. So I asked if we could livestream about it and so we all arranged those flooding live-streams from the city. I brought all the video home and now you are seeing the actual produced episodes. Sometimes live videos can jumble the timeline a lot.
I feel hungry just watching the clip. Lucky you guys has a local guide as I am a Cantonese and have no clue what dish is best to order. Was it very spicy hot? Can you all eat really spicy hot food?
I can have hotpot 7 days a week I kid you not😁😁😁 favorites are fresh water eel, cow livers and pig brains. It’s better to submerge and swish everything in the sesame oil first, it’ll nock off an edge of that spiciness.
Yes, Chongqing hotpot is the absolute best! Those Sichuan peppercorns really make your whole mouth tingle! My favourite hotpot ingredient is blood tofu. Duck or pig, I don't care which one. Both are delicious! Oh, I had to come back and add that duck intestines will be a close second place for my favourite hotpot ingredient.
The video made me in a thorn situation, so far I got a strong cold, my throat is burning and cannot eat anything spicy... But once I see the hotpot...Ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I can tolerate is the cow stomach. Normally I just play rich ordering thin sliced beef and lamb meat, and a lot of viggie. Also, I always order double soups because I just can't handle the spicy one. It just burn my a$$hole on the spot :))
The only animal organ that I can eat are only chicken organs, even that is limited to heart, liver and kidney only. My mom (in her younger day) can eat pig stomach too but because it's such a hassle to clean the stomach, now she prefer not to eat it LOL
I am Chinese living in China for 30 years, but I just don't like animal's strange parts like organ feet neck brain tongue etc...I only eat legs wings body, my friend said me like I eat like American but I have never lived in the US, so maybe it's not every Chinese like strange parts.
@@JaYoeNation Haha :) if you enjoy spicy food then Chongqing Hotpot is probably better. Teochew (Shantou/Chaozhou) is in Guangdong so obviously it's not gonna be spicy at all. Hope this helps and have fun!
