One-week construction time-lapse with closeups: Week 10 of the Ⓢ-series, including a concrete pour

- Week 10 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of April 6 - 11, 2020, into about 48 minutes.
At 48 minutes, this is the longest episode of the Ⓢ series so far, in part because I caught a lot of closeups on Monday and there was a big, triple-pump #concrete pour on Saturday (and maybe I just got a little carried away). The journey upwards begins this week, with a lot of columns arriving, and some columns tilted up, and the first of two concrete pumping towers arriving. If you thought they finally got all the rebar in last week, well there's even more arriving this week, and they work late on Friday night to get it all into place before the Saturday concrete pour. We notice we're not the only ones watching the progress. Also, don't miss the very fashionable headgear at about the 8-minute mark!
If you're just here for the big #concretepour then that starts at about 31 minutes in.
Set to a potpourri mix of music tracks licensed from Audio Network (in chronological order):
Urban Chase - Raithe Laurence (2914/4)
Pleasure 2 - Paddy Conn (3321/104)
Bully Beef - Tom Quick (1548/3)
Streets Ahead - Gareth Johnson (2145/6)
To Be Me 3 - Evelyn Glennie, Igor Dvorkin (1193/36)
New York Nights - Barrie Gledden, Steve Dymond, Jason Pedder (1506/4)
Dynamite 3 - Per Ljungqvist, George Nakas, Sara Gunnarsson (2784/10)
Glowlights - George Georgia (3334/2)
Linked - George Georgia (3334/5)
Persisting - George Georgia (3334/4)
A Piece Of My Love 2 - Matt Goodman, Matthew Bento (3005/86)
Light Fantastic - Tom Quick (1548/8)
As usual, you're always welcome to listen to your own playlist instead if you prefer (there's no dialog in the video).
00:00 - Monday (various closeups, hat, first columns)
12:32 - Tuesday (more columns and forms)
17:29 - Wednesday (waterproofing, forms, rebar)
22:51 - Thursday (waterproofing, rebar)
28:29 - Friday (pumping tower, working late on rebar)
31:31 - Saturday (triple-pump concrete pour)
47:41 - Closing and preview

I’m a retired Aussie civil engineer that never got involved with building construction of this scale. There are many standout features in these videos and I offer my compliments to the everyone from management, the guys doing the work, the guy doing the video and even the crane operator. Teamwork is an amazing thing and I can’t think of a better example. Keep up the great work and many thanks. This should be shown to prospective students thinking of doing engineering.
That Flying Nun comment shows your age, mine too I guess. 🤪 Since I know exactly what you are referring to.
Another video for the best construction channel on UA-cam keep up the great work I love your vids
Wow that was a huge day for the concrete team on Saturday.
and on week 10 , the first stage of Vertical shaft walls appear on section one, reach for the stars ,at 10 Am on the 10th of April , it looks like the man elevator starts to be placed next to the crane tower. And in the end , the floor base is down ! I love watching these fellows work. Great videos , love the editing !
I'm on week 10 now and oh boy how good job you have done. Fantastic eye for noticing details and showing them to us. Thanks!
You're welcome, thanks for the comment
Great! Just in time for Saturday evening. :)
Makes my Sunday morning from the U.K.
-and mine i DK too... ;-)
Mine was a Sunday evening in Nottingham UK
Can’t wait to see the Ironworkers start hangin.
acabando de ver as 22:48 do dia 16/05/2020 do Brasil mais um show da construção americana, o nível de produtividade e conhecimento do trabalhador americano demonstra que os EUA continuarão líder por muito tempo ainda ABRAÇOS A TODOS...
Thank you for showing these construction sites I love it I hope that we can see more
Earthquake Country - great for rebar sales.
Yea maybe you will find it more exciting then I did. I miss that Dirt !! Thanks for your hard work at putting these videos together.
Waited for the video for a week... I look with pleasure - beautiful!
looking forward to the next video! Very interesting.
Now that’s a lot of rebar and concrete! 👍👍👍
I've just finished watching week 49, and for some reason I ended up back in time watching this for the music.
Great video coverage. 👷♂️👍
Hello HC, another fascinating episode of this extremely complex jigsaw. Once again the teamwork is excellent to see, knowing what to do and when to the correct standard. A big well done to the logistics coordinator. Ingenious hat and he was quick with the water to extinguish the fire. Nice touch with the self advertising flag! Going forward let's hope no pipes burst, it would be a big job to reach them through the many tons of rebar and concrete. Thanks for sharing and hope the HC team and all on site stay safe 😷.
I love these videos.... loved the part were you add the flag!!
This is so hypnotic.
Totally fascinating.
The flag idea was a good idea
It seems to me they don't need this hospital at all. I hardly see emergency vehicles passing by...
I haven't even noticed accidents! That being either work related or traffic related. - Maybe they're constructing the hospital the wrong place??
But it is a pleasure watching anyway. Nice editing and good eye for entertaining details. Best of regards from Europe ;-)
Know it's not a hospital. Just trying to be funny.... The name of the channel is confusing to an elderly citizen like me.
When I named the channel 7 years ago, I didn't know I would be covering anything aside from the hospital originally covered. Changing the name and logo now would be tough. It is a dilemma.
Great work! Both the construction and the edit :)
Great. Super .
It's nice when they have it pre rods columns and not doing it on the spot. 8:23The guy looks like in the "sister's act"...!!!
well done
Your vedios are very good and educational.. I hope you will make more detailed close ups for the steel works.
Thnx
I remember being on a rake concreting/ tough work (I was only 17 at the time)
Super
Put's on silly hat thinking no one will see him, 100,000 views on UA-cam later. :)
I think you have finally dialed in the choice of music which really suits these types of videos, maybe in a later episode we'll see a return of the tracks you used in the Hospital Demo/Construction series for those of us old timers? ;)
I liked the track urban chase at the start. The old vide had a different track for each day.
The Flying Nun ... ha!
Муравьи . Арматура ковром. Респект тебе таймлапс
Great video as always!!! Cool hat guy is funny!!! I also notice some workers wearing face masks...... fairplay to them assuming to protect against COVID-19???Alot of hard working men here!!! To work late one night then a long concrete pour the next day.....🤭💪🏻🤔
E vamos frente 👍🇧🇷
Is the towe crane going to have a baby?? Also finally a good soundtrack. I wonder if this will stick??
That's his little brother, the concrete pumping tower. There will be a second little brother concrete pumping tower showing up later, so he'll have two siblings. No guarantees on the music, I play what I feel like at the time! No matter what I play, there's someone who will complain! Next week: 30 minutes of "Baby shark" repeated over and over, bwahaha...
@@HospitalConstruction no problem I'm so addicted to urban chase and this weeks soundtrack I put headphones on and played you video faced down so I could just enjoy the music.
I did the same thing with the demolition music on your other channel.
Bwuu Hoo Hoo ha haaaaa! I get round the system. 🤔😁
At 14:28, workers near the crane decided to dance in their free time. Dear Hospital Construction could you next time they dance increase and slow this fragment, i just want to learn a few moves.
They seem to put a lot more into finishing the upper level, the lower they just seem to screed level.
I've done fire watch for welders. It's all fun and games until stuff catches fire...
26:55 what are the round blue bumps on the right hand wall?
Totally rad dude ! I liked the flag thing and the fx during the pour.
Where did they put the outhouses?
Top bit was polished and a bit was brushed / textured. Bottom bit only screeded. Seems strange. I'm sure all will become clear in the coming months
Possible for tiles or concreteslaps... I think... ;-)
So that's why they were not bothered that must about the gaps under the vibro strike
WHEN WILL THE UGLY TREE BE GONE
👍👍❤❤
Did you kill that tree up front so it wouldn't obscure our view? Thanks.
IM REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MODE NOW 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
👍
Love your videos. Question, week 10, was this filmed between May 4-9? or what is your filming schedule compared to today's date.
the original recorded date and time stamp is on the entire video, bottom left
I'm curious how many tons of rebar they will be using in the complete build. And how many miles too.
Hi, if you want to see a dream of a rebar-salesman take a look on this ua-cam.com/video/9Ke_kCTrxi4/v-deo.html german site! And that's not an earthquake area!
Bit i like the hospital construction chanel also!! Grettings fom germany
sir sites ki jankari mil skti h kya knha pe chl rhi j
Does anyone know what material the walls are covered with, the first layer is black, the second layer is white. It looks like some kind of waterproofing, how they connect the seams, water will flow through them.
It's the wallpaper guy. He got called in too early on the job.
What is the piece of equipment, the small back pack motor with the short hose getting poked here and there while their pouring the concrete. Thanks in advance.
That helps settle the concrete, removing bubbles, voids, etc. Example (you too can own one!): www.amazon.com/Backpack-Concrete-Vibrator-Power-Options/dp/B003XJ9JGQ
What is the filter on the video at 40:00 . It works great for concrete
That is called "Comic sepia"
I wonder if anyone working knows they're being recorded by someone across the street every second of the work day lmao
Can you do another tour?
Would love to, but have no contacts for this project.
Hospital Construction I understand
Any chance someone counted the number of cement trucks during the pour?
Yes. Zero cement trucks during the concrete pour...smh
Sent one home though
Where can I get one of those hats?
Seems like you can find anything on Amazon! I hear some UA-camrs do merchandising... perhaps I should start selling those hats.
Why did I not invest in companies that make rebar :(
Can I ask how did you do the black and white on the worker or what is it called . Thanks
That is an FCPX effect called "Comic Sepia".
Thank you I will try it on my videos
Re bar much? Earthquake region?
Yep. San Francisco.
Yep, and the good part is most of it was #16 or so. That means it was pretty much all lifted by crane and they didn’t have to hump it from one side of the site to the other. They are on eluvial land so they couldn’t drive piles down to bedrock or firm ground so they had to build a floating mat to put the building on. Takes a lot of concrete and steel. Putting buildings on piles is iffy in much of San Francisco where a lot of it is ether eluvial or out and out fill. They have one recent high rise which is trying to play Leaning Tower of Pisa to the consternation of a lot of rich yuppies who are in the process of losing their asses on high rise condos they’ll never be able to sell.
where will be the parking ? It is usually under the building
Last I heard, parking will be very limited, less than 50 spaces on the two lowest levels. None of the spaces would be privately owned.
@@HospitalConstruction Thanks, seems like people will go there by bus or taxi :)
Can anyone explain to me why so much rebar?
Cause New static rules wont.
San Francisco is in a seismic zone.
Because concrete is tremendously good for compressive strength, but weak for shear strength. Rebar gives it great shear strength, without compromising compressive strength.

Lockdown
all few cars

That is a shit load of concrete.

I wonder if the idiot at 43:00 ff who wandered on the wet concrete got fired.
