McDonald’s is not in the burger business, they are an international real estate holdings business. Matt is not in the resort business, he’s in the UA-cam business with 5m followers and growing. And he’s very good at it. Knowing how difficult it is for very experienced, highly financed resort companies to survive long term, this is not likely to turn into a successful enterprise. It WILL be very profitable for Matt however - it’s a loss leader for future growth.

It’s still crazy to me the abandoned mansion series actually took 3 years, it felt like only a couple of months. I’ve been a long time viewer of all your channels, and just like with the abandoned mansion very excited to see what you’ll do with this. Good luck to Matt and Mere, I’m sure you guys make a huge success of this project!
This is ambitious for sure but Matt's right, there is a ton of potential here as well. This video is "100 years of history", it might also be titled "100 years of work ahead of me"! :D
Just ran across this…and used to work at the ranch 1987-1989 when it was really nice. Helped build the rock walls, worked in the kitchen, and helped landscaping…and lived on property with my family who worked there as well. There’s a rich history, and it’s actually pretty great. Happy to share if you like. There’s a great write up in Texas Highways too…with some beautiful pictures and stories about the house, Walter, our chef Albert, and Mike/Maggie who managed.
One day when you get this project finished, how beautiful would it to be to have the Demolitia and all the previous guests from the photos come for the Grand Re-Opening and Matt and Mere renew their vows in the gazebo at the overlook, celebrated and supported by all your family, fans and followers!!!!
Imagine what it would feel like for a couple to revisit after 30 or 40 years rekindling those magic moments and memories from their wedding day. I'm sure (if still together) they would feel honoured and privileged to come back once it's completed and also, what a story it would make for a video.

I'm really hoping you can keep the shell of the burned out stone building and turn it into a wedding/party venue. It feels and looks like the ruins of an old Texas fort like the Alamo. Clear out the debris, take down a few of the less stable walls, and plant grass (or sod) and set up a little platform for the ceremony and it would be an absolutely insane outdoor wedding venue. And the best part is you could easily have it ready to go by the time you re-open because it would only really involve demolition, not construction. Although you could put up a few beams to help define the space and stabilize some of the old walls. I would kill to have a wedding there once it's all finished!

So cool that he has the old pictures to compare to what it is now. Can’t wait to see the before/during/after pictures in a few years when it’s all done.
He should mow that grass and get the metal detectors out. There should be alot of silver coins/jewelry and being a wedding site no doubt some gold and perhaps diamonds.
“They let the horses run wild at night, and the man lights the campfire then leaves everyone to get back to their rooms in the dark, dodging the galloping horses.” 😂 Funniest review ever
I’ve been watching you for about 5-6 years and have great faith in your ability to succeed and make anything fun. Loved the abandon mansion series and look forward to this next project.
I started watching your veterinary channel before you even found the abandoned mansion. I loved that channel! THEN, you found the mansion, and I started watching that channel and was amazed at what you did to that place. Now I have been watching the Demo Ranch channel, not because I'm fond of guns and ammo, because I'm not, but because I was waiting for something like this to come along. I love watching you, your family and your friends. Your optimistic attitude makes me believe you can do anything. And you do!! Good luck on this massive new project.. I will be watching!
I've never been to Texas, but I would make the trip to stay there. Restoring those buildings would be an amazing story. Along with the horseback riding and other outdoor activities, you're gonna need a range somewhere on the property. Maybe even a walking archery range. If you build it, the Demolitia will come!
With the sheer amount of work to be done here, it would be great to see you get other UA-camrs involved. Just looking at those paths reminds me of lawn care guys that offer to cut overgrown lots for free as a small example. I remember one of your abandoned mansion videos featuring a guy (whose name escapes me) talking about the sheathing you used. I bet there will be a lot of specialised tasks coming up that companies/youtubers would jump at the opportunity to help you out with! Popcorn ready for the long haul on this one, best of luck with it all!
I was actually thinking of Lawncare Juggernaut/The Boring Channel, Top Notch Lawn Care, SB Mowing, Fill's Lawn Care, and Al Bladez. Those guys would whip this place into shape fast. And it would be awesome to watch. Hell if I lived closer and had the equipment, I would (with permission) already be started cleaning the place up.
Thank you for keeping memories of those gone still alive! That's what life is all about! The great memories we have and share with others. Thank you for all you do, keep up the best entertainment to be made by any creator
I just finished watching this episode and got so excited when I saw a picture of my cousin. Its the picture with the Brass ensemble. The redheaded tuba player is my cousin Freddy A. I think his ensemble is / was called The Polka Dots. They use to perform at Texas Ren Fest. He also teaches music at Kincade High School in Houston. I have been watching you since Covid began and also watch you Dads channel also. Miss the Vet videos especially since my daughter is a vet tech.

I tell you what is nice to see, a nice guy and family man doing well in what can only be described as uncertain times, and yet had the courage to take on a financial challenge which would make most people to at least do a double take on taking on the task. Good luck to you and I hope your dream becomes a reality.
I’m only 5 min into this video and I’m so excited about this rebirth and redevelopment of this resort. It’s so amazingly sad to see how it was left to the elements like that and to see that the memories that were made there, will not be in vain. I’m so damn excited to see this series.
People can call matt lucky, or privileged. But he is a visionary and has more determination than millions of other people combined. Can't wait to see what you turn it into
He's resourceful, optimistic, tenacious and obviously hard working. He's a guy who knows how valuable time is, and realised it as a young man. Extremely valuable qualities for a young guy.
His determination and ability to follow through on his dreams is something few people possess...and the few that do are not as open as this man...God bless Matt and Mere and God bless the Demolitia
I see a Demo-Diesel collab coming WOOO WOOO !!!! I see Cerro Gordo being built back slow and steady - lots of volunteers and people just spending weekends rebuilding cleaning and making the most of being part of the story. That outdoor fireplace could be a prime camping spot for some of the volunteers/early guests to help with the grand project. Just ideas... but the DemoRanch DieselBrothers collab -- that would be amazing
Being that it was a brothel at one time it's safe to say that some people enjoyed the property a lot more than others did 😉😜😂 I can't wait to see the whole progress of rebuilding this amazing place. Matt you and your family are living the American dream. Enjoy it. You have worked hard for it and deserve every bit of it.
Matt!!! Shoot for a 100 year anniversary grand reopening!!! We are pretty local and will be watching and will come visit! So much history and so much trash!!!
I’m looking so forward to watching this place come back from its current state to something spectacular. Matt we will get to see yours and Meres creations come to light. I’m so excited to watch it happen.
Confidence and audience. I'm sure there will be an outpouring of people willing to help, donate, sponsor, etc. I hope this place turns out to be everything they dream it will be.
Save some of that melted glass and other stuff you find! You may be able to incorporate it into the remodel! New with a little old/history! Like the glass at the bottom of the fountain or something?? Just a thought! Excited to see the growth of this project!!!
"then and now". 😂 Such a nostalgic vibe in this video. Know we are all behind you as you go all in! Looking forward to part 1 of the Abandoned Resort! ❤
Really appreciate the before and after pics. Looking forward to seeing more of the other buildings, like the 3-story ones overlooking the valley. Can't wait to see the progress.
I am seriously stoked to watch this series and I wish you both the best in turning this place into an ultra fantastic resort in The Demolitia style. If it turns out as awesome as I imagine it will. I will definitely have to put it on my bucket list.
Matt, when you get close to the building phase and can put your touch on it, it would be really cool to set up and old western saloon, like a legit one with the swinging doors and beautiful old lamps etc with high ceilings and a 2nd story with rooms to stay in! Think Red Dead but of course more for the average couple or new bride and groom haha. Cheers, thanks for all your hard work for entertainment!
So excited to watch you create a place of beauty out of this incredibly sad piece of history. This just might top your abandoned mansion series which seems almost impossible since that was so incredible. I wish you lots of luck but I know you can do it! 💜
I like the way u start the interaction. if people fall in love with the idea of what if been in the past, they can imagine what can be in future. all the best for u guy i'll like every episode to increase the algorithm.
This video really went a long way to show the appeal of this resort to me. I loved the history of it and seeing all those old photos! Thanks for sharing!
It's wonderful to have some history. It's also a tragic shame that the main building burned down, it was beautiful. What would be great is to track down one of those brides, I bet the Demolitica and the power of the internet could make it happen. Man, this is going to be one hell of a ride!
Could you imagine if you found the woman that left the bad review about the bad wedding and gave her an amazing remarriage for free at the same resort. That would be an INCREDIBLE video.
I cannot wait to see the journey! Beautiful pictures! I really hope at least one person from all those photos reaches out to you!! Maybe they can tell you more history and give you ideas!😊
Loved seeing what this place once was and how you were able to match up the photos and locations for the before and current! But more than anything, I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" that is soon to come with whatever you guys decide to do with it.
I am so excited about this project. I'm not a handy type guy so I enjoy living vicariously through Matt's projects. To Mere: Don't worry, the Demolitia won't let this project turn you into a day drinker.
My boyfriend and I are watching this video together. We are hoping that by the time we are ready to get married that you’ll have this place up and running.❤
I admire you for taking on this project. You have proven that everything you do turns to gold so charge forward and I look forward to following the journey !

What a gorgeous plot of land! Such a shame the previous owners let it run down and allowed so much history to be lost forever, especially the beautiful stone buildings. I look forward to seeing what you do to bring it back to life. I hope you find the wine cellar and I hope you keep items to make a little museum onsite. And hopefully, some of the people in the photos see this and they can be in a future episode.
I hope not. Have you seen the things Matt has created? I definitely prefer HIS imagination to anyone else's. I mean, we all like this channel, right? Just saying.

So cool that he has the old pictures to compare to what it is now. Can’t wait to see the before/during/after pictures in a few years when it’s all done.
Amen
He should mow that grass and get the metal detectors out. There should be alot of silver coins/jewelry and being a wedding site no doubt some gold and perhaps diamonds.
“They let the horses run wild at night, and the man lights the campfire then leaves everyone to get back to their rooms in the dark, dodging the galloping horses.” 😂 Funniest review ever
This will be the actual birth of a tangible Demolition Ranch! I can’t wait to see it come to life! Keep it up Matt! I’m a big fan!
Uhm yeah this literally is the birth of a real demolition ranch...
As a urban explorer I love the then and now part. That's really cool to see
I'm slightly surprised it isn't wall to wall graffiti...seeing that on urban exploration vids always makes me sad.
@@MrGoesBoom It is very sad to see graffiti everywhere in abandoned places.
I’ve been watching you for about 5-6 years and have great faith in your ability to succeed and make anything fun. Loved the abandon mansion series and look forward to this next project.
Your optimism is commendable Matt. Don't ever lose that, and you'll make the best resort host on the planet.
Disney started this way …
Well that's good because until he fixes up the place he's the ultimate slum lord.😜
They've already cleared an area for the first part of the range
Miss the Vet videos especially since my daughter is a vet tech.
its insane how nature can take something back in just 20-30 years.
Makes sense when you think about it. He'll, it's only in the last decade or so that we figured that the Amazon rainforest is farm that's been overgrowing for more than a millenium
Nature always wins.
dntforget hurricanes and toranados and everything else
@@michaelcurley6764the stone work will stand the test of time and the rest can be rebuilt. If Matt had your outlook on things he wouldn't be successful at all anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
@@nickneeley8798 I mean its not, 90% of its not fixable. Most of it is going to be torn out, hauled away, and replaced with something new. Nothing wrong with that tho.
I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say this. We're looking forward to the insane transformation progress that will come. We know how indepth you guys like to get and we have a lot of faith in it. Can't wait to see it and maybe visit sometime in the future!
I feel so overwhelmed with your project; However, I am ready for the journey, and eager to see what you do, I haven't seen your Mansion videos, but my son has been following you and he loves your shows... Ready, set, gooooo....
I loved the abandoned mansion series. This series has me so excited for what to come.
Totally agree with you.😊
It’s amazing how successful and humble Matt and his family are, he is taking risk all for other peoples pleasure
Hey Matt, aging of wine or other alcohol (bourbon) occurs in the casks. Once bottled, the aging stops. So 20 years in the bottle means little.
I tell you what is nice to see, a nice guy and family man doing well in what can only be described as uncertain times, and yet had the courage to take on a financial challenge which would make most people to at least do a double take on taking on the task. Good luck to you and I hope your dream becomes a reality.
A double-take? I would turn around and run for my life!
Matt has to have one of the most varied UA-cam careers ever on this platform!
I Absolutely LOVED the “THEN and NOW” with the old photos !!
Privileged? Why cuz hes white? This man made everything happen from nothing, worked hard and made things happen for himself
@@lesflynn4455 damn you’re meat riding like crazy
I think "hard working" is the part those people overlook or even deny.
Love the before and after shots. And in the exact spots, no less. So excited to watch this unfold!!
If anybody can get this place back to it's former glory, it's you and Mere. Can't wait to bring my family here one day soon!
...former and beyond!
I enjoy the drone shorts. Absolutely beautiful. What a great dream reality show.
Being that it was a brothel at one time it's safe to say that some people enjoyed the property a lot more than others did 😉😜😂
I can't wait to see the whole progress of rebuilding this amazing place. Matt you and your family are living the American dream. Enjoy it. You have worked hard for it and deserve every bit of it.
Man, if I lived close enough, I'd be down to help. This is such an amazing opportunity. Can't wait to see this place come back to life.
Yup unless Our country goes To H@!!
Matt has the most valuable asset of all: confidence. With it, literally anything can be accomplished.
Agreed. And it's not the arrogant or artificial type of confidence so he's a pleasure to watch.
We’re all excited for you Matt! Thank you for having the courage to take the leap so we can all watch the magic happen. Again!
Those pictures make me really miss the 90's
So cool that you have the history. Unlike your house, you can see how this place was created, changed and even grew!
Second this
Fantastic idea!
What if she’s still married?
@@4xeFanatic2023 Vow renewal ceremony then
EXACTLY what I was thinking
I cannot wait to see the journey! Beautiful pictures! I really hope at least one person from all those photos reaches out to you!! Maybe they can tell you more history and give you ideas!😊
Loved seeing what this place once was and how you were able to match up the photos and locations for the before and current! But more than anything, I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" that is soon to come with whatever you guys decide to do with it.
Hello Fresh needs to use your advertisement. I bet no one has made one like it.
So excited to see what you do with this resort!!!
I agree!
That was my idea.. ❤
Junkyard digs sent us all here! We can’t wait to see the renovation
I admire you for taking on this project. You have proven that everything you do turns to gold so charge forward and I look forward to following the journey !
I started watching this channel with episode 11, i believe, of the abandoned mansion series. I immediately went back and watched the first 10 and have been here ever since. And i will be here to watch this series as well. Get er done Matt!
Same
Wow this could be so beautiful again!
Been looking forward to a history episode, didn't think I'd get it right off the bat.
Thank you Matt!
We are for sure hooked on seeing future videos of your renovations of your resort. Love seeing before and after pictures…You guys Will make it happen. Can’t wait till next update. Thank you for appreciating what was and giving life back to it. God Bless you both.
Post all the people photos. People that were there will respond. Make a wall with the photos for display, and also save some of the melted glass and broken remnants to display when you open back up!
Once you've completed this, I'm bringing my girlfriend here. God knows I would love to ask her hand in marriage and have the ceremony someplace like this. While she is not as much of a nerd as me about abandoned places, this trip would mean the world to me. I'll watch every video you put out in the meantime Matthew, I really hope this place can be finished. Greetings from your neighbor in North Tx
Too Cool. Good luck to you both my Man.❤
How many years are you going to wait?
Brother, Matt isn't going to have this done for 5+ years, this is a huge property that needs TONS of work. I fear if you wait that long to propose, she may not be your girlfriend anymore.
@@caliber693 Marriage is just a piece of paper, you don't leave someone you love because you don't have it. Obviously, the idea would be to explain the passion behind wanting to wait for this place to open.
@@dedalliance1 No it's not, marriage is something God gave humanity and the bible tells us to get married. It's just a piece of paper on the government side sure, but it's much more from the church.
When I first saw the abandoned mansion, I thought you were crazy. No one could ever bring that house back to life. And yet you turned it into one of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen. I have total faith in you and Mere that you can do the same for the ranch. I look forward to coming out and doing some shooting at the Demolition Ranch range.
it was sooooooo cool to see the old pictures and how much time has changed the area
I can not wait to see how this is transformed into a beautiful resort. The house you and your wife did is beautiful.
Matt - the editing and drone video in this episode is stellar. Thank you for seeing something special and having the means to make it amazing again. I'm here to support! Chuck in NE Kansas
Quite the ambitious project. Looking forward to the next 5 years or so watching you rebuild this beautiful property.
I hope you are successful in bringing life to this project. More than that, I hope that thousands of guests enjoy the hospitality of Matt and Meredith on this property.
I have a couple of acres not far from there and I’ve driven by that place hundreds of times over the years. I’ve always wondered about it. I was extra thrilled with this episode. You’ve got your work cut out for you. There is nothing like the charm and beauty of the hill country though! Congrats and I can’t wait to see what you do with the place.
Isn’t there perhaps anyone you know that has some documentation (pictures, etc.) from the place that could help Matt. That would be really nice.
Howdy from Railhead Ranch, Texas Hill Country adjacent. This place will be beautiful again. Views, alone, are worth the effort. I can’t wait to see what you do with the resort.
Their probably all divorced by now...lol..
That book is going to inspire a lot of how you rebuild this ranch, I'm sure.
Would be cool if he kept random things and had a display to remember how far the place has come as he builds it up.

Bad ass song track on that closing sequence.
Olivia de Havilland lived to 104 years old and just passed away in 2020! Pretty crazy that she lived on that property.

Matt, @ approx 6mins you can use the fireplace to burn the fallen tree!👍 A win win in my book!🤙
THIS IS SO EXCITING! I loved the last renovation series so much. Heck ya Matt! Get after it!
Matt needs to reach out to ex- employees who worked here to get a good idea of how it ran and what the guests truly liked about it
The previous employees ran it into the ground 😂
Find that horticulturist who was making those grounds look so pretty!
@@Jasta315 Its usually the management that runs it to the ground.
The employees just do what they are told, and from what we heard in this video, there was new employees all the time.
No thanks. !
There the reason it shut down
It's ALL about management.
I am so excited you are doing this.
It's super cool seeing the resort as it was in its glory days. Best of luck on renovations!
