I am so glad I'm NOT one of her homies... I thought they could have shown more of beacon, expand on the many many characters they showed, show that there are other classes besides Oobleck and Port's, a school is more than two lessons and the cafeteria for effs sake, also town, more stores, show the alleys, show that your friggin world is alive before blowing it the hell up so we actually care.

The reason why I like Rwby chibi is due to the characters acting like real people instead of 2 dimensional character with a personality on it and the interactions with each other. That it feels like they are friends or teammates and do stuff together instead of us assuming stuff when there no proof (for instance Blake and Ruby having zero interaction with each except for 2 scenes in the entire Rwby series). That it explores other relationships with the characters.

I disagree with you about the comedy, but I guess that's just personal preference. One thing I really like about RWBY Chibi is that the characters actually have unique and likeable personalities, unlike in the real show, where everyone is always either angry or miserable and the members of Team RWBY have almost identical personalities (change the phrasing slightly and half of their lines are interchangeable).
RWBY Chibi is the definition of “mixed bag” for me. I don’t mind the art style but to me that doesn’t matter too much. The comedy is hit or miss. I enjoyed some characters, like Torchwick and Neo. Some of their skits actually got a decent laugh out of me. Same with Blake, but I might be biased because she’s my favorite character in RWBY proper. Characters like Nora were just insufferable. I can’t tell if her being obnoxious was supposed to be the point, but I found myself skipping most of the skits involving her. As much as I love Sun in RWBY proper, I can’t deny how much the Junior Detectives thing was run into the ground

I agree with a lot in this video but I’m also just a huge sucker for chibi anime shorts like this where you get to see characters doing fun stuff they otherwise couldn’t in the show, and I’ve always found it really funny how chibi uses the giant cast of characters better than the actual show. Plus I have a really stupid sense of humor lol

The Battle of the Bands subplot was as close as Chibi had to an ongoing narrative, and it was probably the best part of Season 2. But they had Roman to carry the story, so they were playing on easy mode.
I read crack fanfics all the time, and that's what RWBY Chibi reminds me of. I think that's why I kinda enjoy Chibi.
IDk about you but just about every crack fanfic I read has better characterisation than both RWBY Chibi and the show proper. (btw Cards Against Remenant was a fun read that I enjoyed a few years back)
The only thing this show does “good” is explore interactions between characters that never talk to each other.

While I don’t think chibi is the funniest thing ever as a whole there were a good amount of moments that made me chuckle or even laugh, (like the Nora coffee episodes I honestly thought the merchandise not being great quality added to the humor) and it’s cute to see the characters interact more

I agree with everything you've said, there are couple of moments in this show that I giggle at but as as a whole I don't find it particularly funny either. It's kinda sad how even a slightest critisism towards the main show or Chibi series is marked as a instant hatred towards Rooster Teeth nowadays. Some of the RWBY-themed channels may be a bit picky and sometimes dickish (Adel Aka, Vexed Viewer, etc.) but there are couple of ones which show genuine critisism, like yours for an example, I'm subscribing.
I wouldn't call either of those channels "dickish" most of what Vexed Viewer says is really valid criticism plus he has given the show praise on multiple points. As for Adel, yes he does to tend to be overbearing and harsh with his critique on the show but he does like and tends to be very supportive of fan works.
Ya know how in anime, they’ll sometimes have a recap special at the end of a season? Since RWBY Chibi started at the end of Volume 3, I feel like it could’ve been used in a sort of similar fashion. The way I see, it could’ve been done where the characters retell what happened in volumes 1-3 in the chibi style, but in a more exaggerated way (kind of similar to the anime nichijou).
My favorite moment is Pyrrha thinking back on the dance practice... the skit didn't stick the landing, Chibi never really does, but the premise is a good one, and Ren going into angry-choreographer mode is just so perfect because, well... Monty. Monty was a hell of a dancer.
In my opinion it's just up to the end of the "kickstep-kickstep-bodyroll" bit, after that the whole segment falls apart, but the initial moment of getting snippy was not only well set up, it was also, I think, the first time ever that Neath's acting was actually good. I like that that came out of him while playing his brother's character as a choreographer, it really fits.
And I do mean "first" time, he's been consistently good through the Atlas arc.
I think I’ve been proven 100% right that the fans of rwby make better rwby content then RT does. If RT is stealing people’s comic ideas for their unfunny, non-cannon spin-off show, then holy crap the creative juices for this show (and by extent the entire company) ran out years ago.
I haven't finished the video yet, but I'm super impressed at how constructive you are in your videos. Not that you aren't normally, just that the FNDM sets a prettty low bar, anyway, gold star.
Honestly, "More of what should have been in the show proper" is most of the appeal. I watched all of them, only remember a few of them, but they felt like everything the real show just assumes already happened.
I mean chibi characters are supposed to have big heads, huge eyes, over-exagerated facial expressions, and small bodies.
I think one reason why people like RWBY Chibi is because it's short, harmless, and fun - which would probably explain the whole Chibi theme. While the main show is supposed to be a more serious show (most of the time I think), this video serves as a relaxing breather. Every time I watch a skit, it always gives me a laugh, or a smile at the very least.
But even so, like any other show, just because a huge amount of people like it, doesn't mean everybody else has to, and I can respect that. It's a bit of a shame that this show didn't do it for you, but at least you found some aspects to enjoy from it.

I know you said you like Teen Titans Go but man, to me saying that TTG was better at making you laugh than Chibi is one hell of a diss at Chibi.
TTG is more irreverent, satirical, and wacky. RWBY Chbi is cute and sometimes funny. Did you see the episode where Robin wanted to blow up the Hive Tower. He disguises himself as a villain and pretended to join them. They had so much nice stuff he wanted to stay longer so he added more time to the bomb. Eventually, all the other titans did the same thing. The Hive got sick of the titans and had to blow up their own base. How is that not funny. RWBY Chibi is much milder.

If there’s 2 things I like about Chibi, it’s making Cinder more enjoyable than in the regular show and making Zwei cute. I think that’s what I enjoy about this show, it knows more what it is than the actual show does
I enjoyed rwby chibi WAY more than RWBY itself. Rwby tries so hard to be serious and has been consistently failing since volume 4. RWBY chibi knows what it wants to be and doesn’t fail, even if it isn’t a masterpiece.
And even if humor isn’t that good, it still managed to make me laugh and made use of its characters’ personalities. Which I cannot say about RWBY itself.
If RT wants to make RWBY more serious, what tips would you give them?

If you haven’t listen to the vocal theme, it pretty much says that the show is supposed to show them happy and not sad and stressed out like the really show. Like this is the reality the characters actually want, thinking about that makes me really sad when I watch chibi
In my opinion, Chibi is the thing that would make me say "Yeah, I kinda like RWBY. Even though it feels like the entire world is trying to change my mind. (look, my opinion mindset is weak, okay?)" Every second of this show, I was chuckling. It was just very funny and cute. I have literally watched every episode of this show, meanwhile, I have yet to complete a single volume of the main show. And sure, they had that one episode where their skits were taken from others, but the original artists were credited in the credits, and considering it was just that one episode, that was the whole intent, to bring those comics to life as a love letter to the fans and artists.
By any chance have you already reviewed both Rwby books? After the Fall & Before the Dawn. I’m curious on what you think of them and any new character information obtained from them.

But yeah, I've never been all that keen on Chibi, and never really found much to say about it to review it. This review was a good one though, I think it summed up a lot of the bigger issues I've had with it.
Honestly, I love how they use the cast with who they use and how they interact.

Ok so I haven't watched the video yet, but even if she doesn't end up liking it, at least she gave it a fair chance. I remember before she reviewed Gen:Lock she hated it but by the way she talked about it, seemed like she enjoyed it quite a bit, so even if she doesn't end up liking Chibi, at least she gave it a chance.
My favorite sketch is the one with Tai and Qrow acting like a married couple, it actually was a pretty funny lampoon of parent tropes and as far as referencing fan memes, the "entire team" joke was probably the best one to go with

I was actually doing the DC Comics x Justice League with Hunter yesterday and I was thinking like "bro... EVERYTHING is always before V4". And I totally get it! Because that's an easy setting for them to be in. But I think it would be "cool" to do Atlas Chibi or something. Or did they even need to have it set in "real Remnant"?
There are some anime that have "Such and such high school", like Attack on Titan. Now I have no idea if that's any good, but maybe it would be a better idea to put everyone in a setting outside of Remnant so they can just interact without thinking about the regular plot. Like for example, you can't have Ace Ops because "this is in Beacon!". But if it was a different setting, everyone could just exist.
I am interested in the Roman Holiday novel where they'll explore Vale, but that's because at least they're going to be outside of the actual school (like exploring more of the city we never got to see).
On the merch: hahahahaha. I feel like they made those little mini-figures in relation to RWBY Chibi - but they're actually really bad. They can't stand up on their own because their heads are so huge sksksksksk. I have a few of them. I think they made Chibi to sell the figures, or made the figures because of Chibi.
But I agree with you about the art style. I think maybe it would have been a good idea for it to be 2D since it could be cuter that way.
I think the show is alright, but personally for me, I only really like to cover things on my channel if they can be analyzed. This is something I'd watch casually just like another UA-cam video. Like people want us to react to RWBY Chibi but I'm not sure why exactly XD So they can see us laugh I guess? But I feel like it's just not that compelling. It is what it is, just a short thing to watch on a Saturday in between the other 20 videos you may watch, you know?

Besides Neo being the best thing in Chibi to me, My favorite skit has to be both, The Floor is Lava and Velvet's Super Hearing. They just tickled me for some reason.
Chibi to me was just a way to see the characters play off each other and nothing else. I wouldn’t say it’s memorable as I can probably only remember a few skits and is more of a novelty than something worthwhile since it’s very archetypical jokes than playing off the world it set up but make it what you will.
Something I kinda wanna mention though is that they chose to bring this show back following volume 8 which is interesting considering how the original creator for Chibi left. Not saying they brought it back just to try to bring people back to their brand but it’s definitely something to look into.
Your rag on the low quality overpriced merch was the funniest part of this video and what should be the main takeaway. At least you can watch RWBY Chibi for free!

Has anyone noticed that in a way RWBY Chibi kind of forshadowed future events in the main show? Like the writers didn't care and just wanted to spoil things. Like the silver eyes joke that they made in season 2 I think.
I pretty much liked RWBY Chibi for the character interactions that didn't happen in the show and how they were still just kids being kids. And I didn't mind the crappy animation, probably because that was around the time was rewatching RWBY Season 1 and I thought the slowness and jank movement was normal. I like your thoughts on the show, and Chibi Zwei is best Zwei.

I thought RWBY Chibi was cancelled when it's director left RT. Season 3 ended in a weird way where they had a model of Coco finished but went unused. Almost as if they just ended it because reasons. I find the show boring now and can't get myself to watch it.

I can forgive garbage animation and a couple jokes that didn't land, but like none of the jokes landed for me.
They mostly all just felt too slow and forced, I found that my bother just explaining the skits was a lot funnier than actually watching the episodes.

I think the popularity really does come from Chibi doing what the mainline show didn't. It's a strange acknowledgement that the main show does not do a lot of the smaller things people crave

Huh. Guessing Critter hasn't tried the novels yet. Granted, mixed thoughts. Some good. Some bad. One detail chosen to ignore from the second book when it comes to canon. And Sage gets nothing still.
Given RoosterTeeth built it’s house on comedy, I can get why people enjoy Chibi a lot more than the main show. It’s not much, but people would rather have a show that knows exactly what it wants to be than a show that tries to be ambitious with very mixed results.
I'd like to see a good writer and team using Chibi's assets and just go full Robot Chicken with it, dedicating every episode to poking fun at RWBY's bad writing in chronological order
But I know that won't happen given how well Rooster Teeth takes criticism
I enjoy RWBY Chibi for the most part. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but it's certainly amusing. That said, I, too, am not much of a fan of the Junior Detectives and Huntsman skits.
I felt the series served as a nice way to maintain the levity in RWBY as the main show got more serious. I definitely enjoy getting more out of characters we don't see too often, especially the ones who died in Volume 3. I do wish more characters appeared like Adam and Ironwood.
One thing that always annoyed me is that Glynda never appeared, even though she was Ozpin's right-hand at Beacon. I assume it was because her VA was fired, so her character was replaced by Winter.

1 of the biggest reason I didn't like Ruby's first outfit is because it was hard to see alot of the details for it and it was like someone dipped a dress in black paint for a day and added red lines on with a thick paint brush but personal her v7 outfit is the best she's had minus the overdone gloves and the belts
Personally i love her mistral/argus outfit. When i look at i get the vibes she is going on adventure. Which sums up volume 4
I guess the small nitpick I'll make about this is: Why do all of the characters sleep in their normal attires

I honestly liked RWBY chibi for one thing...Ozpin. I love him to death in the original show. But, in chibi it really showed his like playful side. He’s not serious, to me, it honestly helped me get me headcanon’s for his character for a story that’s currently on hiatus.
So yeah, everything else, I didn’t realize how boring it is. How much they can add to rwby chibi. If Oscar gets involved. Have Ozpin and Oscar interact. Hell even Salem! (Though knowing how Salem is with Oz and vol 8...yeah no...I don’t want to see that....and the Ozma/Ozpin and Salem ship...*shivers*) They could add Happy huntresses, Ace Ops, HELL even the Relics!! Jinn and Ambrosis? other characters that were in the seasons that actually have character. And not thrown off once their “character arcs” were done.
Hell for shits and giggles throw in Summer Rose!! We barely know jack shit about her. Of course, she’s not really in the show proper. But fuck, at least it’ll give us some info on how she acts behind the scenes. Yeah, it’ll suck if she gets proper treatment in chibi but not in the show proper. But, they keep hinting at Summer and it’s soooo boring.

Just TELL US. stop waiting around for the “perfect opportunity.” Cause if it’s a lame excuse for her to be like hinted at and shown that it makes her look like she’s alive. It’s going to be so lack luster. Nobody will have emotions when she’s truly shown. To be alive, or how she died. I don’t understand how Ruby can have ‘seen’ her mother full in two different scenes with a different reaction from Summer. But, like she’s presumed dead?? Ruby didn’t know Summer that much cause she was young. She was an infant when Summer went “missing” so how can Ruby when focusing on her powers see Summer, turn, smile and move her hair?? It makes no sense.
That’s enough of my opinion/thoughts on the matter lol. Sorry for the rant! 😅

Every time that Coco appeared in the 4th "season" was absolute gold, especially the skit where Cinder gets flustered when she thought Coco was flirting with her.
In my opinion some of the skits with Roman and Neo are underrated.

The main thing I love about RWBY Chibi is that any and every character, no matter their background, agency, or alligence interact with each other. Like Name two random character in the show and they've probably interact in the show resulting in super fun character dynamics!

I think the reason Beacon gets used an lot is because it's an high thus it's an easy setting to right and you have an excuse for all the characters to be together. Heaven brings bad memories (cause vol 5) so I think they might avoid it, Altas would be kinda cool to explore though.
RWBY doesn't make me LAUGH... It makes me smile, it's a comfort show. At least to me. Just watching the characters interact feels kinda wholesome.
RWBY chibi is mostly meh, but I just really like seeing the characters act like the friends they're meant to be. Also my favourite joke from chibi is-

I think I end up enjoying the show more after this review. It’s very ironic. Still, I did absolutely hate that one entire episode that ended up being a big ad. Ironically made funny by you showing the contradiction the quality and pricing….

I think its just the vibe the show gives off. I don't personally find the show funny(mostly). But i am having a great time watching it since It's just a fun dumb little gag show that doesn't take itself seriously. I can sit back and relax it without my head exploding at how a serious show could have such nonsensical plot events or character motivations like the actual show.
Edit I had to mention that I actually only HATE one skit.. and it's the one where Pyrrha first comes back and Nora says the "never happened" line like 7 times. It's seriously so unfunny and DRAGS on for far too long.
The comedy in the series ranges from “eh that was kind of funny” to just flat out skipping of certain parts, however what it does best is actually makes the characters interact and talk with each other.

I know I'm 2 years too late for this... Buuuuuut I got a chuckle out of the skit where Ruby blows a dog whistle at Zwei and Blake and Velvet burst down the door and take the whistle, staring daggers at Ruby.
Getting more out of supplemental material then the actual show, pretty much rwby in a nutshell.
I do enjoy the skits, they are mildly entertaining and you cant screw up to much when it's a comedy with no plot.
