Bunta Kinami's adaptation of RWBY has the best version of Weiss for me. She's arrogant, overconfident, but never bitchy about it. There's a certain air of command in just the way she stands and looks at people. The way her eyes are almost always half-lidded feels like she always has better things to do than talking to you. It shows her arrogance without dissolving her into a banshee.
Another thing I want to mention is the missed opportunity with Sun. Why would a kingdom known for its open racism against faunuskind willingly send a team whose leader is a faunus to represent the kingdom in the Vytal Festival? They could've made Sun the Pyrrha of Haven Academy. The strongest student of his year. Not only would it be a fun idea to experiment with, but it would've been a great middle ground for the White Fang subplot. Sun does not hide his faunus heritage like Blake, as he is not afraid of how people treat him. And unlike Sienna and Adam's White Fang, he does not use his strength to lord himself over others, but to command respect from his peers and the kingdom, making them accept that he is worthy to represent the entire kingdom. Sun would have represented everything both the White Fang and Blake strive. Respected, but not feared. Strong, but humble and down to Earth. Brave and confident, but not confrontational. In short, Praise the Sun. \[T]/

My issue with RWBY is its eclectic focus. I watched the first volume before seeing any of the trailers* or other supplemental material, so I was under the mistaken impression that RWBY would be a character-focused dramedy with action elements. All of the other volumes I've bothered to watch have focused on the plot and MacGuffins above the characters and their development, and not even on the _same_ plot/MacGuffins. *Well, I technically saw the Red Trailer a bit after it came out, due to someone wearing Ruby cosplay to a Halloween party needing to explain who she was dressed as, but I also forgot about it almost immediately.
Honestly I don't even understand how can they manage to do that, there are basically NO interactions between characters in the last 2-3 volumes, no filler, anything like that and STILL it moves at such a slow almost stopping pace. I don't know what it is. Recently I'm starting to think that the characters movements take a little bit too much time? Earlier volumes they were a lot snappier but recently just waving their arms take a couple of seconds, and they walk around slowly or something, I don't know what's taking so much time to progress the plot but it shouldn't feel so slow when they have decent-lenght episodes and not much going on.
Suddenly I want a RWBY remastered, after the first one ends someone could possibly release a remastered version, Reanimating any bad fights and adding/fixing scenes wherethe really need to for chararacter interactions and such.
RWBY, in its entirety now, feels like the rough draft of a show that's meant to come later down the line to me. While I still really enjoy the show I would like to see a reboot with more focus. When everything other than the show does a better job with the world and characters there's a problem.
I haven't watched RWBY since volume 4, but I still like it. I pretty much only consume the supplementary stories. The Mangas are fantastic. And I completely agree with you on RWBY chibi. I wish there was some way to combine the two shows into one.

Nowl Wane yeah, CRWBY is just shitty when it comes to writing in general because Young Justice Outsiders is also a cartoon series about young teenaged superheroes trying to save the world, but they still make jokes; they have different personalities from one another; there isn’t one giant exposition dump every few episodes, and you get to see actual character interaction between different characters and having different points of view on political and ideological discussions, and that series is an ongoing series, but yet volumes 4-6 haven’t been able to address those parts of a story that Young Justice Outsiders accomplished in an on going cartoon series on the DC streaming service.

Supplemental stories can happen in the main story without compromising the storyline or character plots. They just dont know how to do it because the writers of rwby arent the greatest.

What do you mean by hack and slash? Because what I want is a character action (God I hate that name.) game. I will admit that I could be wrong, but I think whoever told you about Qrow's scythe usage may have been wrong. I do know from the Volume 4 commentary they did explain why Qrow didn't use it against Tyrian specifically- because he was just too fast for the scythe- but I'm not sure if they applied that to all of his fights otherwise.

my absolute FAVORITE one liner is when team rwby and jnpr were fighting general cortez (that's her name right?) and she was in that big mecha robot. ren was trying to damage the battery on the back of the shit and started slipping, and nora yells "get your hands off my MANS" and shoots her big ass gun thingy. it was genuinely so enjoyable (just like your content :D)
I do love RWBY, the suppletory materials, and the fan works. But it has a hard time balancing the character stuff and plot stuff, like they can only do one or the other at any given time and I'm not sure why. To be perfectly honest it's been tat way since the start, Volume 1 had very little plot but some good character moments, Volume 2 zigzagged at any given time, and 3 started character heavy but quickly fell into plot heavy(and I still haven't forgiven Volume 3 for just how STUPID Yang hitting Mercury's leg is).
But nahte, a sports foul is _totally_ going to make enough negative emotions to bring a horde of Grimm to Vale! Even though the terror of seeing a horde of Grimm in the heart of Vale (and, you know, the nasty scandals that come up every month or two) didn't do diddly squat. I've heard this argument before, repeatedly, and pointing out how stupid it is never helps. (Never mind how many uncontrollable variables the plan relies on.)

Thank you for your great videos on RWBY! I have missed a lot o the show and your videos have filled some gaps for me. Your videos keep me interested in the show, and one day I will watch all of the serial.
I wound up watching RWBY Chibi far longer than I did RWBY Normal, simply because it was _trying_ to focus more on the characters (the part of RWBY I actually cared about). Even the dumb jokes and bad pacing weren't enough to turn me off, because they were bad jokes being made by characters I wanted to see interact properly, instead of just treading water until the next fight scene or infodump.
8:30 See, this is the main problem with Miles and Kerrys writing. They're not necessarily bad writers. The problem is, they are writers for a comedy show, not for a show with a serious and continuing plot. RvB, as far as I remember, didn't have much of a continuing serious plot in it's earlier Seasons and focused way more on Comedy. People say the old seasons were way better than the new ones. Remember when one of these two said they have a bad memory when it comes to writing? That's not as bad of a problem for a comedy show than it is for a more serious one. It's the same with RWBY. Even though RWBY was/is supposed to have a continuing plot, it's main Promotion were the action scenes. V1-3 weren't as serious as V3's Ending-V6 were. It was progressing, but had more comedy in it because it wasn't so dark. Most people like these volumes way more than Volume 4-6. Because once the plot turned more serious, the writers started to have their problems with it. They don't really know how to handle 4 main characters that once belonged to someone else. They try to focus on WBY, but forget R. I believe volumes 3-5 they focused the most on Weiss, tried to work on Blake aswell as Yang. Ruby, being a static character, suffers from this BECAUSE she is static. So is Yang. But Yang suffers less because they gave her a reason to have some development. While with Ruby, sure she could mourn her mom's death or talk about silver eyes.. but that's a bit late. Blake and Weiss are developing characters and have more clear goals than Ruby and Yang. However.. they did Blake dirty. They don't know how to handle her and that was most noticable in volume 4 especially the times she slapped Sun. Weiss.. as I said, was focused on the most and it's noticable. Because she's not out of character unlike Blake. Sure, sometimes she's questionable and v5 did everyone dirty, but I'd say she's got the best development out of the 3 main girls that got some.
Actually, the real problem is that they are better writers than they give you in RWBY, they just knew that they didn't need to put out anywhere near their best effort.
okay I'll start with saying thank you for this cause this has been one of my pet peeves with a lot of series. the supplemental stories of any series when done and even promoted correctly can add a new layer of depth to what you thought you knew or in most cases expand your knowledge. with RWBY it's pretty much like you said which i prefer to use the night and day difference which shouldn't be the case. while I haven't read the novels or really played the App game cause the app game wasn't for me and I couldn't get into it, and the novel i didn't know about till last month but i have read the various mangas that have come out and I do want to buy the 4 that came out recently and I haven't had time to check out the shonen jump version which I hope gets enough track to have an anime adaption of that but that's a long ways from now so hold off on that one lol anyway yeah the supplemental stuff where my biggest pet peeve with it which is also why you can say I tend to be negative and biased on them because of it, it's the simple fact they either don't tie into anything or affect things in the long run or as you mentioned for Blake's vol 4 trailer where she had her conversation doesn't get expressed properly in the main show and like you said that was a big part of her whole struggle which if you didn't watch that trailer and just saw the main show then her motivations are backwards, and probably what's my biggest pet peeve about supplemental material is when they don't add anything and just tell you what you already know. I don't blame RWBY for my particular bias and dislike of supplemental stories since I enjoyed the manga and i like RWBY Chibi fine and heck maybe if i order a copy I may like the novels too, but a lot of my negativity is due to how certain series like Naruto and Boruto have these supplemental novels coming out and unlike RWBY they don't add much and pretty much establish what you would already know just from how the characters act and interact with everyone. Now as for why the supplemental stuff in RWBY works I can think of just 2 reasons. the first one is what you already said. they're not tied down by the plot of what's going on currently even though many can argue to RT that they don't have to give up what worked in the first 3 volumes doesn't have to be sacrificed for drama. we've seen plenty of shows and especially anime that do this juggle where you get laughs, emotions, and tensions so maybe yeah the writers should look into the supplemental RWBY stuff. Reason number 2 I think they work so well which probably applies more to the mangas is they are basing the stories on what volumes 1, 2, and even 3 had. pretty much before monty's passing. that's also noticeable in cross tag battle for Team RWBY. that's kind of the impression I'm getting from Japan where even now they likely feel what monty left in the first 2 volumes at least is where the potential for growth was still there. I don't think RT is completely oblivious to it where as you pointed out with the character trailers they can still do it but I think because of the direction we all felt or at least thought was well done in volume 3 is what ultimately brought us here. I'm not gonna get into too much speculation here since this is pretty much my first time watching your vids so I'll check out your other stuff to see what you've covered on but I hope this long comment on my thoughts wasn't too negative where again like I said a lot of my bias and negativity is just from having to see supplemental stories done in a poor manner and for me it's kind of rare to see it done in a good way but for RWBY it's good but also bad in the sense where again as you've said it does feel like RT automatically expects you to already know every single thing they're doing and that's a bad mind set to have on your fanbase as there are ways to do exposition without it feeling like they're talking about it. I'm gonna go ahead and look at your other content now.

Girl, you speak the truth!! RT has so much material and talented people to work with but it's so infuriating how little they do with what they have. I was hoping there would take more time to make Vol 7 better to tie up the loose ends of the series but they seem to be sticking to their usual schedule. But then, they were lying about JNPR being Mains, so whatever. Big part of why I don't trust them: they lied to the fans on a level that they should not. Because of that and the constant retconning, I cannot trust ANYTHING they say OR do, therefore there was no reason to continue with canon.
I agree you shouldn't have to read other sources of media to understand what's going, and am glad these supplements are just there to help expand the world without conflicting with the main story's continuity or interrupt it. As well, at least give the volume 5 blake short a pass as it is only five minutes long.

Supplementary material gave more info on Neo backstory than series did What the heck? Including Roman Holiday giving Neo and Roman 's backstory which we never got in 9 Volumes It almost like in Later Volumes they literally forget she can communicate purely through body language, miming, or text messages
That wasnt romantic. They were barely even friends at the time. Also notice how that heart to heart didnt lead to anything relating to their characters. Yang had nothing to do with the white fang, Blale has nothing to do with whatever Yangs development with nor caring about Raven
Also maybe it’s just me but if the show starts explaining about how mechanics like ora works without it being needed or they just start randomly giving us the verbal equivalent of nothing like facts that I don’t care about like Crow’s scythe. That would make the show drag so much more than it already does, the show needs more action not more of what we’re getting (which is conversations that don’t matter or are filler). Also Imma be honest the side characters aren’t the main characters we don’t need their backstory, we don’t need to know their motivations unless their effecting the main characters we don’t need a whole episode on these characters since and hear me out maybe the show RWBY should be focused on RWBY and not on other teams and background characters
Since you didn't use Red vs Blue as a counter-example.. then i know for a fact u haven't watched the series, at least not past season 5, this show does what u talked about PERFECTLY, it's what makes the show so fun and amazing, the characters are still themselves in the most serious or complicated of situations or plots, it tells a convoluted multi-layered plot and stays true to the characters at the same time, and it even has very sad moments that made me cry, serious moments that made me excited or worried, or happy funny moments, they should learn form Red vs Blue
I actually love RvB and watched all the way up to season 13. But I don't see the point in forcing in comparisons to other media, especially since RvB and RWBY have different writers, directors, and are different genres. RvB is a comedy/action, RWBY is just action.

Excellent video! I would counterpoint that in my opinion: the trailers are the _most_ important part of season 1 RWBY, and not supplemental. Without them, you lose context, personality, subliminal storytelling, and full-on characters you wouldn’t know otherwise. Case and point: Red like Roses, Armor Gigas, Adam, Yang Xiao Long Someone who doesn’t watch the trailers has 0 knowledges about any of these key elements going forward. Red Like Roses lays out beautifully the core aspect of each girl for us to think about subconsciously. The Armor Gigas goes from a cool summons in v3 to Weiss’ inciting achievement in overcoming her father and taking control of her own life and past. Adam being connected to Blake, his characterization and powers: all of that is in the Black trailer. Seeing him pop up at the end of volume 2 has 0 sting unless you know who he is, and until he gets Yang’s arm: he’s more or less just another mook like Banesaw. (Speaking of Yang’s arm: seeing the trailer gives that moment tension as the audience knows what he can do to her, but she doesn’t. Without it, the audience is a bit confused why he put his sword away and doesn’t have the time to realize he’s baiting her. Imma take that point too.) Yang’s *entire character* comes from the Yellow Trailer, and starting from E1 you miss out on so much of who she is and the deeper shades until late in Volume 2, which is a heck of a wait if you’re trying to find more to her than just a slacker who doesn’t seem to care all that much.
The bit praising the fandom hits different now that RT can cite eminent domain and freely use whatever fanworks they like without recompense or credit.
I would agree with you to the point that supplementary can be good but my point is in the Anime world, different platforms do not crossover as canon. For example naruto the anime, naruto the manga and naruto light novels are not canon connected. They are their own separate platforms so different people prefer different platforms. In rwby everything is connected as one giant mess with certain things canon and others not canon. I mean the fanbase reviews and gets emotional over a soundtrack and yet crwby have told fans not to take the soundtrack seriously and a large amount of songs are not canon. Tell me one series that puts not canon songs in their series. Its bafflingly stupid to a retarded level. Its painful that the show has all these faults because if a book mentioned it, the show doesnt have to. Lastly is when supplemental items screw up the series. Team cvfy have semblances omfg yas......but why didn't they use them in the show. Its shit like this that makes me think a hard reboot is needed or R.T needs to sell rwby to a studio that can properly create it.
I completely agree. The song problem is because they let Jeff have free reign and do whatever he wants. He made Bmblb without them knowing because HE shipped them together. And with the semblance thing I feel like it’s that way for every character! Why didn’t Ren use his semblance against the snake in the forest during volume 1? I feel like Mercury’s whole “my dad stole my semblance” thing is just because they never gave him one before and couldn’t think of what to do with him when everyone was asking about it.

The only good thing about RWBY is everything that isnt the actual show. The books are better written, Chibi has the characters be actual characters, Fan-Art has better designs, World of Remnant has better Lore and the Trailers where just generally better.
I ONLY like the supplemental stuff now. The show is shit, plain and simple. The manga and RWBY Chibi are hella fun though, I love the hell out of them. It's just the show I take some really major issues with, as it continues to disappoint me again and again and again and again.

Another thing I want to mention is the missed opportunity with Sun. Why would a kingdom known for its open racism against faunuskind willingly send a team whose leader is a faunus to represent the kingdom in the Vytal Festival? They could've made Sun the Pyrrha of Haven Academy. The strongest student of his year. Not only would it be a fun idea to experiment with, but it would've been a great middle ground for the White Fang subplot. Sun does not hide his faunus heritage like Blake, as he is not afraid of how people treat him. And unlike Sienna and Adam's White Fang, he does not use his strength to lord himself over others, but to command respect from his peers and the kingdom, making them accept that he is worthy to represent the entire kingdom. Sun would have represented everything both the White Fang and Blake strive. Respected, but not feared. Strong, but humble and down to Earth. Brave and confident, but not confrontational.
In short, Praise the Sun. \[T]/
I mean, he is a reference to Sun Wukong, who as in myth, a god damn badass and really fucking strong, so it would be a pretty good reason and paralell.

The white fang for all intents and purposes are a terrorist group, faunus rights are still an issue. It's be very advantageous for a nation displaying open racism to use a member of the discriminated group as a pillar to dissuade those accusations, and quietly tell the discriminated community to shut up about mistreatment because "you wouldn't be mistreated if you where more like sun"
They give sun all these privileges, and special treatment, and rewards and because so much different depending on how aware of the fact that he's being used is too him

My issue with RWBY is its eclectic focus. I watched the first volume before seeing any of the trailers* or other supplemental material, so I was under the mistaken impression that RWBY would be a character-focused dramedy with action elements. All of the other volumes I've bothered to watch have focused on the plot and MacGuffins above the characters and their development, and not even on the _same_ plot/MacGuffins.
*Well, I technically saw the Red Trailer a bit after it came out, due to someone wearing Ruby cosplay to a Halloween party needing to explain who she was dressed as, but I also forgot about it almost immediately.

Honestly I don't even understand how can they manage to do that, there are basically NO interactions between characters in the last 2-3 volumes, no filler, anything like that and STILL it moves at such a slow almost stopping pace. I don't know what it is. Recently I'm starting to think that the characters movements take a little bit too much time? Earlier volumes they were a lot snappier but recently just waving their arms take a couple of seconds, and they walk around slowly or something, I don't know what's taking so much time to progress the plot but it shouldn't feel so slow when they have decent-lenght episodes and not much going on.
Suddenly I want a RWBY remastered, after the first one ends someone could possibly release a remastered version, Reanimating any bad fights and adding/fixing scenes wherethe really need to for chararacter interactions and such.
RWBY, in its entirety now, feels like the rough draft of a show that's meant to come later down the line to me. While I still really enjoy the show I would like to see a reboot with more focus.
When everything other than the show does a better job with the world and characters there's a problem.

I haven't watched RWBY since volume 4, but I still like it. I pretty much only consume the supplementary stories. The Mangas are fantastic. And I completely agree with you on RWBY chibi. I wish there was some way to combine the two shows into one.

Nowl Wane yeah, CRWBY is just shitty when it comes to writing in general because Young Justice Outsiders is also a cartoon series about young teenaged superheroes trying to save the world, but they still make jokes; they have different personalities from one another; there isn’t one giant exposition dump every few episodes, and you get to see actual character interaction between different characters and having different points of view on political and ideological discussions, and that series is an ongoing series, but yet volumes 4-6 haven’t been able to address those parts of a story that Young Justice Outsiders accomplished in an on going cartoon series on the DC streaming service.

Supplemental stories can happen in the main story without compromising the storyline or character plots. They just dont know how to do it because the writers of rwby arent the greatest.

Their writers turned the show into a tumblr crap story hell they even bent to the fans for a romance that was never actually established. The writing sucks 75% of it is bad. I will admit that I could be wrong, but I think whoever told you about Qrow's scythe usage may have been wrong. I do know from the Volume 4 commentary they did explain why Qrow didn't use it against Tyrian specifically- because he was just too fast for the scythe- but I'm not sure if they applied that to all of his fights otherwise.
they make up excuses on the spot all the time. They say things are planned, then say they couldn't have it so it needs to be removed. Always expect everything that can be retconned, will be retconned...
my absolute FAVORITE one liner is when team rwby and jnpr were fighting general cortez (that's her name right?) and she was in that big mecha robot. ren was trying to damage the battery on the back of the shit and started slipping, and nora yells "get your hands off my MANS" and shoots her big ass gun thingy. it was genuinely so enjoyable (just like your content :D)
The white trailer also explains wiss's scar. She got punched by the paladin and there's blood over her eye and it forms a scar.
I do love RWBY, the suppletory materials, and the fan works. But it has a hard time balancing the character stuff and plot stuff, like they can only do one or the other at any given time and I'm not sure why. To be perfectly honest it's been tat way since the start, Volume 1 had very little plot but some good character moments, Volume 2 zigzagged at any given time, and 3 started character heavy but quickly fell into plot heavy(and I still haven't forgiven Volume 3 for just how STUPID Yang hitting Mercury's leg is).

Thank you for your great videos on RWBY! I have missed a lot o the show and your videos have filled some gaps for me. Your videos keep me interested in the show, and one day I will watch all of the serial.
I wound up watching RWBY Chibi far longer than I did RWBY Normal, simply because it was _trying_ to focus more on the characters (the part of RWBY I actually cared about). Even the dumb jokes and bad pacing weren't enough to turn me off, because they were bad jokes being made by characters I wanted to see interact properly, instead of just treading water until the next fight scene or infodump.
8:30 See, this is the main problem with Miles and Kerrys writing. They're not necessarily bad writers. The problem is, they are writers for a comedy show, not for a show with a serious and continuing plot. RvB, as far as I remember, didn't have much of a continuing serious plot in it's earlier Seasons and focused way more on Comedy. People say the old seasons were way better than the new ones. Remember when one of these two said they have a bad memory when it comes to writing? That's not as bad of a problem for a comedy show than it is for a more serious one.
It's the same with RWBY. Even though RWBY was/is supposed to have a continuing plot, it's main Promotion were the action scenes. V1-3 weren't as serious as V3's Ending-V6 were. It was progressing, but had more comedy in it because it wasn't so dark. Most people like these volumes way more than Volume 4-6. Because once the plot turned more serious, the writers started to have their problems with it. They don't really know how to handle 4 main characters that once belonged to someone else. They try to focus on WBY, but forget R. I believe volumes 3-5 they focused the most on Weiss, tried to work on Blake aswell as Yang. Ruby, being a static character, suffers from this BECAUSE she is static. So is Yang. But Yang suffers less because they gave her a reason to have some development. While with Ruby, sure she could mourn her mom's death or talk about silver eyes.. but that's a bit late.
Blake and Weiss are developing characters and have more clear goals than Ruby and Yang. However.. they did Blake dirty. They don't know how to handle her and that was most noticable in volume 4 especially the times she slapped Sun. Weiss.. as I said, was focused on the most and it's noticable. Because she's not out of character unlike Blake. Sure, sometimes she's questionable and v5 did everyone dirty, but I'd say she's got the best development out of the 3 main girls that got some.
Actually, the real problem is that they are better writers than they give you in RWBY, they just knew that they didn't need to put out anywhere near their best effort.

okay I'll start with saying thank you for this cause this has been one of my pet peeves with a lot of series. the supplemental stories of any series when done and even promoted correctly can add a new layer of depth to what you thought you knew or in most cases expand your knowledge.
with RWBY it's pretty much like you said which i prefer to use the night and day difference which shouldn't be the case. while I haven't read the novels or really played the App game cause the app game wasn't for me and I couldn't get into it, and the novel i didn't know about till last month but i have read the various mangas that have come out and I do want to buy the 4 that came out recently and I haven't had time to check out the shonen jump version which I hope gets enough track to have an anime adaption of that but that's a long ways from now so hold off on that one lol
anyway yeah the supplemental stuff where my biggest pet peeve with it which is also why you can say I tend to be negative and biased on them because of it, it's the simple fact they either don't tie into anything or affect things in the long run or as you mentioned for Blake's vol 4 trailer where she had her conversation doesn't get expressed properly in the main show and like you said that was a big part of her whole struggle which if you didn't watch that trailer and just saw the main show then her motivations are backwards, and probably what's my biggest pet peeve about supplemental material is when they don't add anything and just tell you what you already know. I don't blame RWBY for my particular bias and dislike of supplemental stories since I enjoyed the manga and i like RWBY Chibi fine and heck maybe if i order a copy I may like the novels too, but a lot of my negativity is due to how certain series like Naruto and Boruto have these supplemental novels coming out and unlike RWBY they don't add much and pretty much establish what you would already know just from how the characters act and interact with everyone.
Now as for why the supplemental stuff in RWBY works I can think of just 2 reasons. the first one is what you already said. they're not tied down by the plot of what's going on currently even though many can argue to RT that they don't have to give up what worked in the first 3 volumes doesn't have to be sacrificed for drama. we've seen plenty of shows and especially anime that do this juggle where you get laughs, emotions, and tensions so maybe yeah the writers should look into the supplemental RWBY stuff. Reason number 2 I think they work so well which probably applies more to the mangas is they are basing the stories on what volumes 1, 2, and even 3 had. pretty much before monty's passing. that's also noticeable in cross tag battle for Team RWBY. that's kind of the impression I'm getting from Japan where even now they likely feel what monty left in the first 2 volumes at least is where the potential for growth was still there.
I don't think RT is completely oblivious to it where as you pointed out with the character trailers they can still do it but I think because of the direction we all felt or at least thought was well done in volume 3 is what ultimately brought us here. I'm not gonna get into too much speculation here since this is pretty much my first time watching your vids so I'll check out your other stuff to see what you've covered on but I hope this long comment on my thoughts wasn't too negative where again like I said a lot of my bias and negativity is just from having to see supplemental stories done in a poor manner and for me it's kind of rare to see it done in a good way but for RWBY it's good but also bad in the sense where again as you've said it does feel like RT automatically expects you to already know every single thing they're doing and that's a bad mind set to have on your fanbase as there are ways to do exposition without it feeling like they're talking about it. I'm gonna go ahead and look at your other content now.

But then, they were lying about JNPR being Mains, so whatever. Big part of why I don't trust them: they lied to the fans on a level that they should not. Because of that and the constant retconning, I cannot trust ANYTHING they say OR do, therefore there was no reason to continue with canon.
I agree you shouldn't have to read other sources of media to understand what's going, and am glad these supplements are just there to help expand the world without conflicting with the main story's continuity or interrupt it. As well, at least give the volume 5 blake short a pass as it is only five minutes long.

That wasnt romantic. They were barely even friends at the time. Also notice how that heart to heart didnt lead to anything relating to their characters. Yang had nothing to do with the white fang, Blale has nothing to do with whatever Yangs development with nor caring about Raven

Also maybe it’s just me but if the show starts explaining about how mechanics like ora works without it being needed or they just start randomly giving us the verbal equivalent of nothing like facts that I don’t care about like Crow’s scythe. That would make the show drag so much more than it already does, the show needs more action not more of what we’re getting (which is conversations that don’t matter or are filler). Also Imma be honest the side characters aren’t the main characters we don’t need their backstory, we don’t need to know their motivations unless their effecting the main characters we don’t need a whole episode on these characters since and hear me out maybe the show RWBY should be focused on RWBY and not on other teams and background characters

Since you didn't use Red vs Blue as a counter-example.. then i know for a fact u haven't watched the series, at least not past season 5, this show does what u talked about PERFECTLY, it's what makes the show so fun and amazing, the characters are still themselves in the most serious or complicated of situations or plots, it tells a convoluted multi-layered plot and stays true to the characters at the same time, and it even has very sad moments that made me cry, serious moments that made me excited or worried, or happy funny moments, they should learn form Red vs Blue
They even made that show for crying out loud.
I actually love RvB and watched all the way up to season 13. But I don't see the point in forcing in comparisons to other media, especially since RvB and RWBY have different writers, directors, and are different genres. RvB is a comedy/action, RWBY is just action.

I would counterpoint that in my opinion: the trailers are the _most_ important part of season 1 RWBY, and not supplemental. Without them, you lose context, personality, subliminal storytelling, and full-on characters you wouldn’t know otherwise.
Case and point:
Red like Roses,
Armor Gigas,
Adam,
Yang Xiao Long
Someone who doesn’t watch the trailers has 0 knowledges about any of these key elements going forward.
Red Like Roses lays out beautifully the core aspect of each girl for us to think about subconsciously.
The Armor Gigas goes from a cool summons in v3 to Weiss’ inciting achievement in overcoming her father and taking control of her own life and past.
Adam being connected to Blake, his characterization and powers: all of that is in the Black trailer. Seeing him pop up at the end of volume 2 has 0 sting unless you know who he is, and until he gets Yang’s arm: he’s more or less just another mook like Banesaw. (Speaking of Yang’s arm: seeing the trailer gives that moment tension as the audience knows what he can do to her, but she doesn’t. Without it, the audience is a bit confused why he put his sword away and doesn’t have the time to realize he’s baiting her. Imma take that point too.)
Yang’s *entire character* comes from the Yellow Trailer, and starting from E1 you miss out on so much of who she is and the deeper shades until late in Volume 2, which is a heck of a wait if you’re trying to find more to her than just a slacker who doesn’t seem to care all that much.

I would agree with you to the point that supplementary can be good but my point is in the Anime world, different platforms do not crossover as canon. For example naruto the anime, naruto the manga and naruto light novels are not canon connected. They are their own separate platforms so different people prefer different platforms. In rwby everything is connected as one giant mess with certain things canon and others not canon. I mean the fanbase reviews and gets emotional over a soundtrack and yet crwby have told fans not to take the soundtrack seriously and a large amount of songs are not canon. Tell me one series that puts not canon songs in their series. Its bafflingly stupid to a retarded level. Its painful that the show has all these faults because if a book mentioned it, the show doesnt have to.
Lastly is when supplemental items screw up the series. Team cvfy have semblances omfg yas......but why didn't they use them in the show. Its shit like this that makes me think a hard reboot is needed or R.T needs to sell rwby to a studio that can properly create it.
I completely agree. The song problem is because they let Jeff have free reign and do whatever he wants. He made Bmblb without them knowing because HE shipped them together.
And with the semblance thing I feel like it’s that way for every character! Why didn’t Ren use his semblance against the snake in the forest during volume 1? I feel like Mercury’s whole “my dad stole my semblance” thing is just because they never gave him one before and couldn’t think of what to do with him when everyone was asking about it.

The only good thing about RWBY is everything that isnt the actual show. The books are better written, Chibi has the characters be actual characters, Fan-Art has better designs, World of Remnant has better Lore and the Trailers where just generally better.

I ONLY like the supplemental stuff now. The show is shit, plain and simple. The manga and RWBY Chibi are hella fun though, I love the hell out of them. It's just the show I take some really major issues with, as it continues to disappoint me again and again and again and again.
