I was really surprised to see my old Fehrmann Tiger model, and AFV article as inspriation for your Tiger model project!
I did not have more reference for the project than you have. The three pictures widely known was what I had. So as you, i used a great deal of imagination! Especially regarding the color scheme.
I wanted to make somthing special, that look good on the model and at the same time is not totally unrealistic.. same thing is the color of the turret numbers. the light green color is my best guess, knowing that the are definitely not red, as red will appear dark, almost black on a black and white photo, and on these photos they are a very light color..

Your color interpretation is the most reasonable, and I've come to the same conclusion. There was a little bit of debate about the numbers, some people suggested they might be dark yellow, but 1. I felt like the Tiger would be too "colorful" and 2. they seem to be the same shade of grey like the (supposedly) green parts, at least on one of the photos. It also makes sense if there were paint shortages at the end of the war, and the only available was the new standard olive green.
But let me tell you... it's not an easy model to paint!

The added damage, details, and the unit/crew field modifications are what bring the model to life because it makes the tank look lived in and combat weary. Love it.

I’m building the Ryefield Tiger 1 early that’s suppose to be Michael Wittmann’s S04 Tiger on the eastern front and after seeing how much detail you put into this Tiger it makes me want to go back and completely redo the entire exterior again.
Excellent work, Sir. You have just told the world you are addicted to epoxy putty, fantastic job on this tank, keep up the good modelling work.
I think what makes you my favourite modeller is the fact you put so much detail into your models like the fact you indented the meshes on the engine because the fact that people used to walk on them like I don’t think I could bring myself to do that much research

Since i started building models in 2015,i build about 65 model kits (mostly tanks and armored cars).
Still in the box are about 25 model kits yet to be build.The health situation in my country is very serious,
so there will be plenty time for me to get started on those too if i stay healthy in this crisis,(i'm in the risk
age group 50-55).

I've started model making again after many years. At that time I converted 1:16 cheap RC tank models and also used them outdoors, it was great. After a few ships in 1:350 I figured it's time for some tanks :-) but now I'm scared to start... I don't claim that they are historically perfect although I have an extensive photo collection have... but your models are simply incredibly beautiful. I hope to be able to implement some of your techniques, despite the lack of experience. Thanks for your great videos!

the amount of detailing on this shocked me to be honest, the thumbnail makes it look as if its done the same as your other models, but wow am i stunned. talk about going above and beyond. i love this model!
Thanks! Technically speaking it's the same level of detail like on the Rutscher for example, it's just the fact that the Tiger is cluttered with far more details 😁

Great job on the mufflers! I built my first Tiger back in 1984, second one is coming up after the first of the year. Built a King Tiger about a month ago.
I would be so scared to even touch that model after all the photo etched parts were done. I really admire your patience and fine motor skills.
Great work as always! I modded all the roadwheels to move as well. Helps the model roll much better. Modding is in my blood.

I read an old battle report on track wear for tigers and panthers. They drove to the side of the road to lessen track wear on the inner side and also inner road wheel wear because of road camber. The load would be placed on the inner road wheels more than the outer so wear increased drastically. Also another report where they had taken to cutting off the U shape cover from there the outer drive sprocket ran to allow dirt to fall out to prevent the track walking off. Not being a rivet counter. I just love those little pieces of information :)

Thank you for doing even the most barebones research and not make your tiger tracks suuper sloppy and droopy. They should never go immediately from the drive sprocket to the first roadwheel.

I really enjoyed this video and the way you show how to fabricate many interesting details. Your humor is wonderful as well. I love how you emphasize and laugh after each time you say the word "clasps". It's a strange word, and even more so when said in the plural, so thank you for that!

You inspired me to try my hand at weld beads. After some trial and error I found that thinning putty a ton and loading it into a needle tip squeeze bottle is a great way to organically make welds. You just squeeze and dab. Repeat.

at last I managed to catch up and see the videos from previous weeks, and what I'd like to say - this.is.sick! Martin, that is an incredible job
An excellent model, unbelievably good work.
One point about the flaps on the exhaust though. They are not for deep wading and they weren't removeable. They are to stop rain and dirt getting down the exhaust and are always in place. The exhaust pressure blows them open when the engine is running and gravity pulls them shut when the engine is off.

I'm late to the party, and although I've watched everything from My Uncle Night Shift, I love going back to rewatch. Greetings from USA North Carolina, I've been doing models since I was 5 or so with my dad and now in my 40s I've come along way but still enjoy learning. Now I normally build sci-fi stuff, starships and what not and I light them, all models I work on I light. So why am I here, will I have a great interest in Tanks, and I love watching you work, I also have a T-34 one of my fav, on a side note and I don't know what it is, but I have always thought Russian design be it tanks or submarines to even helicopters, all have really awesome shape and angle design it's appealing to my eyes. I bought a very cheap T-34 because as we all know you first do a cheap model in a genre that's new to you then later get the expensive one. So, I look forward to it. In the future I'd like to do a diorama of a T-34 destroying a Tiger with lights and all. Even though I'm half German my vote is for the Rusky. Lol, cheers Uncle Night Shift and Friends!

As an aircraft modeler, I'm glad I don't have to clean up a few dozen of the same piece. But damn do those tracks look real and those clasps make it pop. Good work.

Beautiful! I just pruchased Wittmann's Tiger from Dragon, so this video gave me an extra kick.
I got a set of the correct, 'workable' RFM tracks for my Meng G1 Jagdpanther. They were arse and fell apart instantly. They were binned in favour of the R Models late Panther metal tracks with brass pins. Love at first pin. I've since put some RMSH ones on a T-62. Cannot recommend them enough.

@@adammee5437 It was an anti-magnetic paste, only applied on German tanks in WW2 :)

@@adammee5437 it prevented magnetic mines to be placed on to the hull. Although what I've read about them was that it was almost only Germany who used said mines, I may be wrong on the last part though.

I love it so far. Especially the wearing of the cleats on one side of the tracks. I have a Tiger I late track link from Estonia and that's exactly what the wear looks like. One thing i don't quite get, is why fill the area where the gun meets the sleeve? That's where the gun recoils. There is a gap there in real life. And a lot of vertical movement during firing.

I'm currently building a Tamiya Universal Carrier Mk2, and I can honestly say its been one of the best models to build and paint. Great quality, and can be well done with basic tools. I need to make another Tiger, but I've got a B29, a Mistel V, and an M42 to do first...
Tamiya kits are always guaranteed to be fun and hassle free! nice choice!

I made my first "Kitty's" circa 1991. Tiger's I and II, followed by a Panther. All Tamiya. My favourite German builds from back then is still the 88mm anti tank Gun being towed by an 8 ton half track.
I watched the final video of this model (weathering) and the tragic thing is I hadn't appreciated the level of ultra detail that has been handmade to produce such a fantastic result.

Since we're talking about Tigers here I just wanted to mention a great movie the Russians did a few years ago called "White Tiger". I picked it up at Dollar Tree for a buck and was surprised at how good it is. It's about a ghostly white-color Tiger that keeps popping up on battlefields and destroying the Soviet armor. The Russians can't seem to defeat it and they begin to think it's supernatural. But finally one young kid who survived an encounter with the White Tiger is given the mission of finding it and destroying it. I won't tell you how it ends because I don't want to spoil the fun of watching it. But also; at the end of the movie is a weird scene where Hitler,apparently after his death,is in some sort of afterlife (purgatory?) where he is sitting in front of a roaring fire trying to explain his actions. Sitting across from him is some mysterious figure dressed in black who never says anything. It's interesting to hear Hitler's comments. The film ends with him staring off into the fire and nothing more is said. It's a pretty good movie for a buck! As for the "White Tiger" they use in the battle sequences,it obviously can't be a real Tiger since I think there is only one operational Tiger left in the world. It's probably a wooden mock-up,and incidentally is shaped more like a King Tiger with that square-shaped turret rather than the rounder Tiger One. I don't know if the movie is on UA-cam---maybe it is!

Lovely build! Did not think Friul would fit that well to the RFM. Bought the Masterclub, I like them but they are fradgile and a pain to assemble but they look darn good.

One simple note - the best and fastest activator for the cyanacrylate glues is just a simple water. Try it :)
